i love being trans so much. after i first came out, i was scared, i was afraid to be a tranny, but 10 years later, i'm more in love with the experience than i was when i found out what "transgender" meant and felt alive. i love my identity, i love being able to play with expression and presentation freely now that i know who i am. i love doing drag. i love spending time with other trans people the most out of other queer people. i just love being trans and love seeing other people be happy being trans. i love seeing people transform their identities and bodies in ways that actually fit them. it's awesome!

we do in fact deserve to celebrate this experience. the act of being transgender is one of transformation and ultimately, change for the better. we are allowed to experience joy, elation, and pride. we are allowed to love being trans. it's healthy, in fact. i love being trans and i love every trans person's unique expression of transness. we rule

Happy Jewish American heritage month! Superhero fans- your favorite stories wouldn't exist without the hard work and persistence of Jewish creators. American Jews were the founders of the modern comic book industry and I really want to see a change in how fandom treats Jewish characters and fans. So take some time this month to listen to Jewish voices in (and out) of the communities you frequent.

jokes aside, i think when we talk about having healthy relationships with food and eating mindfully we forget that for many people, intuitive eating isn't, well, intuitive. especially if you are recovering from severely disordered eating patterns and/or a severely disordered relationship with food, figuring out when you are hungry, full, wanting, finished, and more in regards to food feels impossible. so for those in recovery: it's okay that intuitive eating is hard. it takes practice and time, and it has to be learned. be gentle with yourself. a healthy relationship with food is possible, it just takes time.

Seeing Other Trans People Be Happy And Enjoy Being Trans Is Not A Threat To You. To Doubt Their Transness

seeing other trans people be happy and enjoy being trans is not a threat to you. to doubt their transness because they're (perceived as to be) not as miserable as you is, however, a threat to them. - transmonstera

[IMAGE ID: "to measure the validity of other transsexuals by their misery is to hold the cissexual narrative higher than your own right to joy" in bold white text. the background is a number of yellow measuring tapes and rulers. the base of the measuring tapes has a sad face sticker on the side. the background is solid black. If you’re fine with queer culture being destroyed then you don’t deserve to be a part of it. Why do you think we should respect your religion when you don’t respect our existence? You post nonstop about how queer people hate Jewish people, but are you surprised when you endorse takes like that? Nothing would be lost from the world if there were no more Jewish people. If queer culture gets destroyed, then millions of queer people will grow up miserable. That’s the difference.

i’m not gonna publish the rest of the asks i got abt that post bc some of them are vile but i think this one is probably the most egregious.

“nothing would be lost from the world if there were no more jewish people.”

do y’all hear yourselves??????????

“why does that character have to be queer?”

why not?

“why does that character have to be trans?”

“why does that character have to be a poc?”

Fascists fucking hate fat people bc to them we’re a living symbol of degeneracy and that’s yet another reason you should love and support us tbh

Ableism and fatphobia spin around in circles. Can't say this enough.

Many people gain weight after becoming disabled/chronically ill due to being forced into a less active lifestyle, and losing weight becomes harder and harder when physical activities become more and more challenging. We get put on medications that have weight gain side effects. Some of us women go into premature menopause, which also leads to weight gain and slower metabolism.

The next fatphobic ableist who tells any of us to diet and exercise owes my dog a femur to gnaw on.

The idea that bigots cannot permanently erase trans people from the face of the Earth should give you hope. A spiteful kind of hope, perhaps, but hope nonetheless.

Even if they somehow managed to kill all the trans people on Earth (which is simply unfeasible), tomorrow, another trans person would be born.

That does not mean any attempts at genocide against us will be "less bad" - of course not! Genocide is an act of horror, it is unforgivable. An act of genocide against trans people is just as nightmarish and destructive as a genocide against any other group of people.

But even though they can try, they cannot kill us off.

We will outlive them, and their descendants, and theirs too. The future is trans and always will be.

And we're going to stop them, here and now. They won't succeed in this. We will fight them every step of the way to prevent it.

It is not inappropriate for AAC users to have acsess to swear words.

My peers started swearing at around age 10, and if that is what language the speaking people of that age are using, nonspeaking people have the same right.

Not giving us acsess to the same type of language as our peers feels alienating, it doesn't let us communicate with the same language and terms our peers and friends do. We are not babies. We are not stupid. We are the same as our speaking peers. Just because you can sometimes control what language we use, doesnt mean you should.

I'd Pretend To Be Shocked, But We All Knew This Investigation Was Political Theater Meant To Only Grab

I'd pretend to be shocked, but we all knew this investigation was political theater meant to only grab headlines and reinforce the narrative to people who don't pay much attention to the news that Trans People Bad.

Like, the damage is already done. I find little comfort in knowing what I think most of us on the pro-trans already knew: medical professionals are extremely careful and follow the already very strict guidelines when providing care for the extremely small population of transgender children.

Because the narrative has been fully dictated by the anti-trans side, the idea that our medical care is some how experimental (when it's been around for almost a century in some cases), dangerous, or will cause massive regret (when trans affirming care has lower regret rates than knee and hip surgery).

cripplepunk is visually centered around use of mobility aids and accessibility, the word cripple being reclaimed from those who used it as a word against us physically disabled people and our bodies.

i see no way anyone could think cripplepunk let alone the word cripple could ever include able bodied individuals, just because it doesnt talk about mentally disabled people and focuses on the physically disabled, doesnt mean youre being swept under the rug and erased.

just because a space doesnt include you doesnt mean you should butt in and force it to. make your own damn space instead. youre not being invalidated or treated as invisible because some "exclusive club" exists and youre not on the invite list.

cripplepunk doesnt offer you anything if youre physically abled. thats not a threat, not an insult, its a fucking statement. a fact.

cripplepunk is made by and for PHYSICALLY disabled folks and always has. those who have mental disabilities ON TOP OF being physically disabled are welcomed thats a given, but if you arent physically disabled this space literally has nothing for you, nothing you can relate to, the word cripple isnt even for you. thats not some made up rule to shoo away people we dont like thats just a fucking fact on how it is.

"the brain is an organ so i AM physically disabled" do you need a mobility aid because of your mental disability? no, do you get sick and dizzy whenever you stand up because of our disabled brain? no. do you need additional help in school because your mental disability hinders your neurological function not your ability to function PHYSICALLY? yes? then stop being a selfish idiot and stop trying to get into cripplepunk as its not a space thats for you.

being mentally disabled is entirely different from being physically disabled, both are equally valid and deserve accommodations and support but when a space is made for one and not the other, only having the other does not warrant you to push into that space.

it should not have to be said so many times let alone at all

cripplepunk is a space for physically disabled bodies.

sorry if youve already talked abt this, i couldnt find much -- as a multigender/genderfluid person, what do i do regarding hormone therapy? my dream appearance changes literally by the hour, some moments i deeply deeply yearn for the effects of hrt & some moments i get scared of it because i dont want anything to change. im sure some of it is just general fear of change but it also is Definitely gender-related a lot of the time .. im really just not sure what to do :[ tips/experiences?

I think the question to keep in mind is what would be the easiest "default" body to have? If there are certain traits that you would want to change on a regular basis, what would make that trait easiest to adjust?

In case that's not making sense, the aspect of my body that I have this question about is my chest. My chest dysphoria/euphoria fluctuates a lot, so sometimes I want boobs and sometimes I really want a flat chest. I'm trying to figure out whether it would be easiest to have a flat chest and use breast forms sometimes, or have boobs and bind sometimes.

Just... ask yourself what would minimize dysphoria and what would make it easiest to maximize euphoria. It's okay if you don't know the answer yet- gender stuff takes time, and there's nothing wrong with being unsure.

As for the general fear of change, I have no idea how to help you there because I'm very much also struggling with that, but I wish you the best of luck.

i dont know what autistic person needs to hear this but your sensory wellness is so important. and that goes beyond just avoiding things that trigger immediate distress. sensory enrichment is vital too! do things that make you feel safe and comforted and happy and alive. it's not insignificant. it's not silly. it's part of taking care of your lovely autistic self and enjoying life. your life, which thrives when your wants and needs are met.

remember kids the answer to the question "why do trans people always target WOMEN & WOMENS things?" is "because its what cis people care about"

if you want to demonize a group, make them Scary (oft masculinized) Predators who are Coming For Innocent Women (objects to be protected). the "trans issue" crops up where cis people MAKE it an issue.

"men's healthcare" is an exclusionary term for healthcare needed by a lot of people. "father" should not be our only term for people who can impregnate others. but its so much easier to rally the troops to protect the weak, innocent, defenseless property, so thats where the money is.

oh also: this applies to stuff like "why are there no BI GAYS?" which is based in the same logic. there ARE and have always been bisexual gay men, and there continue to be. the only reason you have only heard about bi lesbians is because gay men's spaces just are not as defensive about Invaders To The Identity, even if that prejudice still exists on some level sometimes. this is such an annoying thing to hear because its said like some intelligent statement and its just biased information

Help for Lola!

Lola is a Nigerian trans woman who needs safe housing IMMEDIATELY. Her neighborhood is getting more and more dangerous as Nigeria gets more and more homophobic and transphobic, so she has to move. She's had to put her education on hold because of this. She needs funds for both safe housing and also hormones, so we're setting the goal at $1400 USD to help her.

0/1400 USD

transandrophobia is why i dont feel safe in trans spaces anymore. transandrophobia is why i dont feel like i have a community. transandrophobia is why i feel unsafe at work. transandrophobia is why i dont have a birth family at all. transandrophobia is how trans men and transmascs die.

people shutting down our discussions, shoving us out, ignoring us crying out for solidarity. thats what gets us killed.

i have no snappy one liner for the end. im just tired, scared, and heartbroken.

In my experience a lot of the shit trans men get from within the queer community comes down to ignoring half of our identity in favor of the other half

Either were men and therefore are basically the same as cis men

Or were trans so they'll use gender neutral/ inclusive language while still reducing us to our sex assigned at birth
