The Prophecy - Blog Posts

hiiii

I had to write an assignment for my english class about a song that explores any aspect of a romantic relationship that you've experienced. It was only a paragraph but i'm still really proud of it and decided to post it. The song I chose was the prophecy by taylor swift. a song very dear to me.

Anyways. Here it is;

I sat with myself about what song best described my experience. I started going down a list of songs from all the different artists I listen to. From The 1975 to Lorde to Lana Del Rey but ultimately settled on the queen of love songs herself. Taylor Swift. As a fan of her it was a hard choice but as a lover of her newest album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, The prophecy was the right choice. Being a melodramatic Twenty-One-year-old hopeless romantic I often feel as though I’m going to be alone forever, a truly fearful fate. So, when I listened to the song for the first time I related to Swift’s feelings of hopelessness portrayed through her lyricism. The feeling of hopelessness one only feels when the presumed love of their life slips through their fingers. I am not the only one, The prophecy having 183,309,275 plays on Spotify alone the fans also resonated with the sad ballad. Even outside of her regular listeners people are seeing how much weight her words have. Swift is getting young girls through their girlhood since her debut in 2006 through her lyrics and haven’t stopped since. Her lyrics are truly more than just lyrics; It’s poetry and All’s fair in love and poetry.

I ended up removing a quote I used from an article I used around the seventh sentence just because it's from a local college to me.

Blue Sargent and Richard Gansey |||, Bluesey, also known as the inspiration for “The Prophecy” by Taylor Swift:

“Please

I’ve been on my knees

Change the prophecy

Don’t want money

Just want someone who wants my company

Let it once be me

Who do I have to speak to

About if they can redo

The prophecy?”
