“The most dangerous weapon our enemy holds is the weapon of words. They call it a peaceful solution, when it is in fact submission. We are against this because it is not a peaceful solution. We are against it because it is another face to forcing the Palestinians and Arabs to kneel to the will of their enemy by the cause of their superior weaponry and army…we reject this. This is why we consider our people’s war, the war to end all wars” - Ghassan Kanafani (1936-1972),Palestinian novelist and member of PFLP. Assassinated by Israel 43 years ago.

“Perhaps, the red in our carpets and our rugs mean more than just the attractive vibrant colour. Perhaps, the red signifies battle wounds, decades of struggle and hardship, independence. Perhaps, it sets to remind us of where we came from, our roots. All the patterns and shapes, each telling a different narrative. Perhaps it’s to show the hands of the tireless artist that weaved each section, for days, weeks. Perhaps, the red signifies love. Burning passion. Fuel. Solidarity with our people. Perhaps, the red is just red. Like blue and green. Perhaps, it’s everything and nothing. Perhaps, the red is apart of a bigger artistic story, one that we cannot understand yet.”
