I also attended the opening of John Paul's exhibition 'The Characters of Dublin' at the Ireland Institute. Many of the paintings featured statues situated around Dublin including the depiction of Phil Lynott on Harry Street. However I loved the faces of the portraits of real people. They were so full of life. John Paul had finished one painting the previous day which featured the Shelbourne Hotel. The paint was still drying on this painting. John Paul's exhibition will run until next Wed 4th March 2020 at the Ireland Institute, 27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.
Classy.

Spring Exhibition at Solomon Fine Art
There was plenty of variety of artworks at the opening of the Spring Exhibition at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2. Work included figurative and abstract sculptures. The same variation with the paintings on show. Attached are photos of a few of my favorite artworks.

Lots of personality in the face.

The scene in this painting appears enigmatic.

Lovely composition
Clare Island Famine Ship by John Behan
I had always admired John's work.

Last night, I attended the second opening of ‘Ship Is Mine’ at In-spire Galerie, 56 Lwr Gardener St, Dub 1. There was a wide variety of work to see including paintings, prints, sculpture and video installations. Plenty of good music added to the relaxed atmosphere and was not played too loud for people to talk. ‘Ship Is Mine’ will continue until next week. Classy.

I attended the opening the Michael Canning's exhibition 'Les Yeux' tonight at the Oliver Sears Gallery, 33 Fitzwilliam Square Upper, Dublin 2 tonight. The event was quiet and informal. I loved Micheal's paintings of plants set against plain backgrounds. The fine detail of the twigs and leaves contrasted with the simplicity of sky and minimalist landscapes. His three small paintings of tree trunks intrigued me. To my eye, they were a new development in his work. His exhibition will run until 13th June 2025.

Tonight, I attended the opening of Conor Foy's exhibition 'Bang Bang' at the Molesworth Gallery, 16 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. The venue was busy and had a relaxed pleasant atmosphere. I was intrigued that Conor had painted all of his paintings on birch panels. Most of his artworks feature small groups of people located in plain backgrounds like 'Gold Comfort', three figures huddled together against a gold leaf expanse. Some paintings evoke snowy scenes eg 'JB' and '3'. I particularly liked Conor's portraits such as 'Red Cap', 'Boy Golden' and '2024'. His exhibition will run until 28th Sept 2024.

Last Thursday, I attended the opening of Ostinelli and Priest’s exhibition ‘Animal Magic’ at Gallery Zozimus, 56 Francis Street, Dublin 8. I liked their more minimalist pieces like ‘Class Act’, ‘Charlotte Grey’ and ‘Rhino’. These pieces represent a greyhound, horse and rhino respectively. Their exhibition runs until 31st May. Classy.
