I attended the opening of 'Bourke/Kane' an exhibition of paintings by Brian Bourke and Michael Kane at the Taylor Galleries, 16 Kildare Street, Dublin 2. I thought that Brian's work was quite sombre to my eye at least. However there was quite interesting subject matter included in his paintings including decaying sunflowers, a winter landscape and Indonesian statues. Michael Cane's work was muted but had more colour. The opening was very well attended with a lively atmosphere. Brian and Michael's show will continue until the 13th of April 2024.

Tonight, I attended 'Arcadia', the opening of Paul Winstanley's latest exhibition at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Dublin 2. His paintings, oil on linen or oil on panel were the right sizes for their subject matter. The larger artworks like 'Landscape With Clouds II' (2024) looked majestic but were too dark and brown for my liking. ⛰ Paul's smaller paintings from his body of work, 'The Falls' featuring waterfalls had more movement and colour in them. 💧 My favourite painting was 'Veil 30' (2024) which comprised a closed net curtain with a landscape beyond it. Paul's exhibition will run until 18th Jan 2025. 📰 It was well worth going.

I attended the opening of Gary Colye's exhibition 'Terra Cognita' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, (Chancery Lane, Dublin 8) tonight. It was packed.
⚫⚫⚫
My favorite drawing was After The Flood'. I loved the simplicity of this image. Three of the walls in the gallery were decorated in green. The forth wall was done in red. All were decorated with natural forms.
⚫⚫⚫
I also liked in the drawing 'In A Forest Clearing'. It was the most striking artwork with the eye in its centre.
⚫⚫⚫
Gary's exhibition will continue until the 15th March 2025.

Tonight I attended the packed opening of Mairead O'hEocha's exhibition 'Tale Ends & Eternal Wakes' at the Temple Bar Gallery. There was an interesting mix of drawings and paintings of various animals on display from bird to monkeys. Mairead's latest exhibition relates to her fascination with the Natural History Museum, Dublin or Dead Zoo. Her exhibition will run until April 25th 2020 at the Temple Bar Gallery 5 - 9 Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
