Me again. Classy.
Last night, I attended the opening of Eilis O'Connell's new exhibition 'Hardware/ Software' at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 D02 T802 beside the Westbury Hotel. The Venue was packed and had a lively atmosphere. It was worth the time and effort to go. Loved the sense of form and line in Eilis' work. Her exhibition will continue on Sat 18th Nov 2023.
Tonight, I attended 'Arcadia', the opening of Paul Winstanley's latest exhibition at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Dublin 2. His paintings, oil on linen or oil on panel were the right sizes for their subject matter. The larger artworks like 'Landscape With Clouds II' (2024) looked majestic but were too dark and brown for my liking. ⛰ Paul's smaller paintings from his body of work, 'The Falls' featuring waterfalls had more movement and colour in them. 💧 My favourite painting was 'Veil 30' (2024) which comprised a closed net curtain with a landscape beyond it. Paul's exhibition will run until 18th Jan 2025. 📰 It was well worth going.

Last Thursday night, I attended the opening of Jaki Irvine's exhibition 'Ack Ro' at the Kerlin Gallery. Climbing the stairs up to the room where the exhibition was on display was an experience in itself. Neon lights mounted on the walls filled the room with a lovely pink glow. Flat-screen televisions showed either still pictures or short video loops of urban scenes. One video featured a musical ensemble including a keyboard, cymbals and a singer singing. The music was discordant but not intolerable and added to the general atmosphere. I was intrigued to read in the press release that Jaki had created her show around the themes of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.
No drinking was allowed in the exhibition room due to cables running along the ground and flat screen televisions hanging out of the ceiling. Nothing happened when I was there.
Jaki's exhibition will run until 29th Feb 2020 at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Sth Anne's St., Dub 2.
Classy.
Last night, I attended the opening of 'Wild Things - The Prints They Leave...' at Gallery Zozimus, 57 Francis Street, Dublin 8. This exhibition features ceramic sculpture by Ivan Panov and paintings by Ann McKenna. Both artists had created their work on the team of animals.
Ivan's sculptures are full of charm and humor. He repurposes items in his work e.g a lamp stand to denote an owl's feet. Ann's paintings glow with life and personality. I particularly liked her painting of an orangutan, very well observed.
Lots of people had come to the venue. The atmosphere was quite relaxed.

I had also attended the opening of Richard Gorman's exhibition 'Dalkey' at the Kerlin Gallery. His colourful paintings, executed in oil on linen, were full of energy. I couldn't pick a favourite painting. Richard's exhibition will run until 9th April 2020 at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, South Anne Street and Lane and Street, Dublin 2.
Classy.

Last night, I attended the opening of Gerard Hegarty’s exhibition ‘The Roads Less Travelled’ at Ranelagh Arts Centre, 26 Ranelagh, Dublin 6. There was a lovely play of colour and plenty of life in Gerard’s paintings. I saw the influence of Paul Cezanne in many of his landscapes and Edouard Manet in his seascapes. It was a beautiful evening and the musician who attended was very good, Gerard’s exhibition will run until 28th August 2018.
I love the hair.
I attended the very successful reopening of Gallery Zozimus at 51 Frances Street, Dublin 8 tonight. Plenty of people came. The atmosphere was informal. There was a large variety of beautiful artworks on display. Gallery Zozimus will be open from Monday - Saturday 10:00 am - 5:30 pm.
