The way she told him to strip has me feral!!!
Falsettos is my favorite musical and I've lost count of the times I've seen it, but for some reason it just hit me that when Marvin says "I left my kid, I left my wife, to be with you", it's a direct answer to Whizzer's "All your life you wanted men, and when you got it up to have them, who knew it would end your life?"
Because Whizzer is talking about AIDS. He's been an openly gay man for much longer, he's been with other men, and he knows how repressed Marvin was. So, he's commenting on how tragic it is that now that Marvin allowed himself to enjoy this, they'll both end up dead.
But Marvin knew he'd lose his life for this. He had a tight knit family, perfectly patriarchal, and he put it all on the line in the name of Whizzer's affections. And they're both stubborn and they're both drowning in toxic masculinity and so neither of them actually admitted this simple truth: Whizzer was afraid of loving Marvin because he thought all he wanted was sex.
It takes Whizzer's death for them to finally fix their greatest misunderstanding. Finally Whizzer says "I'm sorry it's over, now that you could have the sex you wanted", and Marvin replies "It wasn't the sex, it was you. I'd end my life again if it meant I could live with you. I did it before already".
And I'd like to believe that I'd do it again, and again, and again.
Omg same he was on my nerves the first time we met him mainly because the massive power imbalances between him and his patient but the more he speaks to the Dhan the more I hate him. He is so consending when he speaks to Dhan and I can't stand it!!!
Ok I am just going to say this. I don’t like Ethan. I don’t like the vibe I get from him and Dhan in their scenes. We know Dhan leans on him a lot and can’t cope when he’s not in town. And he’s his therapist or at least he uses his professional knowledge on Dhan yeah? Idk it feels WEIRD. And it feels a bit like there’s this power imbalance there? Idk if it’s intentional or what bc this show doesn’t delve into personal lives very much. But I am not loving their dynamic esp after the newest ep.
Yes I'll grieve losing tommy and bucktommy. But mostly, I'll grieve what we could've had with Bi Buck. Not the first time a character is Bi just to keep it as a side little quirky trivial thing by the writers. Idk if the people who are considering this a win are actually understanding what will happen. I would love to be proven wrong by the show, but with the interviews honestly 🤷🏻♀️.
Won't even dive in what we will lose with tommy, a great potential for having an emotionally deep gay character who came out later in life.. do you all not see what we are losing here...
And if the reason was really just to let buck "explore," that's the most biphobic reason thank you
Or if the reason is because of all the hate? Still bad, very ugly reason, especially that lou (who is the most affected by the hate !!) Didn't like what was happening
Idk I'm just rambling 🙄
Work decided tonight would be the night cable doesn't work so I can't watch it live or until tomorrow because of when I get off work I will be giving my thoughts tomorrow till then i am not checking tumbler lol
Lacey why do you have to aggressively poke the bear with a stick like you just got kidnapped from him again!!!!
I'd figure I share this for my mom cause she is set on her theory that's its Dhan working with sir and she doesn't post online so tell me your thoughts and I'll let her know lol
Welp I guess we're not gonna get a dark romance gonna ship it anyway though not my first ship that isn't cannon
I'm just kind of fucking tired about this happening to good, funny, smart, diverse, queer shows. Ofmd has a huge fan base, a lot of potential, and became mainstream popular off of what was essentially a cold release of the first season. This show did everything right and was still not safe. I wish I could say I'm fired up or angry, but I'm just tired and sad. This was the first show I'd ever seen have a canon trans character (especially a nb person), the first show I saw with a poly relationship, the first show that basked so proudly in its racial diversity, the first show I watched that allowed for so much love for its disabled characters. This show was full to bursting with love. And they took it away from us.
