Yes I'll grieve losing tommy and bucktommy. But mostly, I'll grieve what we could've had with Bi Buck. Not the first time a character is Bi just to keep it as a side little quirky trivial thing by the writers. Idk if the people who are considering this a win are actually understanding what will happen. I would love to be proven wrong by the show, but with the interviews honestly đ€·đ»ââïž.
Won't even dive in what we will lose with tommy, a great potential for having an emotionally deep gay character who came out later in life.. do you all not see what we are losing here...
And if the reason was really just to let buck "explore," that's the most biphobic reason thank you
Or if the reason is because of all the hate? Still bad, very ugly reason, especially that lou (who is the most affected by the hate !!) Didn't like what was happening
Idk I'm just rambling đ
I'm just kind of fucking tired about this happening to good, funny, smart, diverse, queer shows. Ofmd has a huge fan base, a lot of potential, and became mainstream popular off of what was essentially a cold release of the first season. This show did everything right and was still not safe. I wish I could say I'm fired up or angry, but I'm just tired and sad. This was the first show I'd ever seen have a canon trans character (especially a nb person), the first show I saw with a poly relationship, the first show that basked so proudly in its racial diversity, the first show I watched that allowed for so much love for its disabled characters. This show was full to bursting with love. And they took it away from us.
So, my mom had a theory during the early episodes of this season of the show Found. It was so good that I wish I could have shot it to the writerâs room to run with it. She basically suggested that Laceyâs mom was Sirâs accomplice all along. Like, chick was batđ© crazy this entire time and helping him because she is in love with him. It would explain why he could move so seamlessly in and out of that babyâs room after their escape. She could also be crazy jealous of Gabi and secretly plotting her downfall because Sir will never love her the way he loves Gabi. I hate to pit us against each other but this would have been too good. Oh yeah, and did I mention that Sir is actually Laceyâs biological father in this scenario? (BOOM đ€ drop)
It would explain why he took her originally and why her mom never really seemed all that shook about it. It would also explain why he let her live the second time around. His sister being the accomplice doesnât explain how Sir had so much inside information about the agency before she was introduced on the show. He had their files like he had a man/woman on the inside. Laceyâs mom being the accomplice would explain that. It also would be a very interesting arc for Lacey to have to navigate. She would be utterly destroyed and the actress would really have some serious trauma to navigate in that role. Perhaps even question her own morality with Sir as her father. So juicy.
But alas, opportunity missed.
People, I want to see a thriving PR professional Gabi and a semi-adjusted, slightly toned down but still obsessive Sir. Imagine if Gabi was taking M&A from success to success; leading the team brilliantly (with no man chained up in her basement). In this AU, Sir would be muscle for hire (purely because I like seeing this man work out) and Gabi would be seeking his services. M&A was founded by Gabi after a girl on her street (Bella) went missing and was never found. Sir had nothing to do with Gabi until she hired him.
Warnings: physical violence, death threats, mentions of human trafficking
M&A has a few enemies; due to the nature of what they do, its inevitable. Instead of letting the threats get in the way of their work, Gabi makes the executive decision to hire security personnel for each of the team, also making various safe houses available for them. The entire team have a bodyguard that is one call away at the weekend and by their side for 15 hours a day. Their contracts are four months, pending renewal.
This might seem drastic to some but they have been dismantling trafficking rings for months now and those motherfuckers are well connected. You can never be too safe.
Gabi's personal bodyguard is called Hugh Evans. He is in his 40s, tall and has stubble. Evans seems to enjoy reading Toni Morrison, Frank L Baum and Shakespeare. He's actually quite pleasant to be around except for the fact that he insists on calling her Gabrielle.
That being said, the 15 hours feel like nothing at all sometimes. For Gabi, Evans is a conundrum. How does someone so intellectually gifted not mind running errands with her all day? She could easily see him as a college professor. One night, Gabi convinces Evans to have a drink with her (after his shift ends, of course).
Over a bottle of red wine, they learn more about eachother. Evans was training to be a literature professor but had to drop out to look after his little brother. Their mom isn't the most reliable, so Evans is the one putting him through boarding school. He loves birdwatching and sculpting; but insists that it's just recreational.
Gabi tells him about her strained relationship with her father. To him, M&A is too dangerous; he never wanted her to have a target on her back. She laments that the passing of her mother broke something in their family and neither of them knows what to do now.
She is in great company, Evans is a great listener. Empathetic when needed but never pitying. She feels safe with him.
For Hugh, this is highly unprofessional. Drinking with clients is a no go for any security personnel worth his salt but there is something special about Gabrielle. She is a breath of fresh air; smart, beautiful and charming. He isn't ready for this contract to end. Not yet, anyway.
Three months down the line, this working relationship is still going strong. The death threats to Gabi and her team are slowing down now but they all know that this could just be another tactic to get them to slip up.
Gabi doesn't read them anymore, instead she passes them to Evans who uses the letters to build a profile of the kind of people who seek to hurt Gabrielle. It's going well. These criminals are highly educated, strategic and obsessive. A four month contract looks almost naĂŻve in the face of such a threat.
Thankfully for M&A, the police are involved and they are monitoring the situation. With the police alerts and Evans' tireless work, Gabi has been able to focus on each case and not worry about her own safety every second.
Evans has become like a permanent fixture in her life. Over the past few months, they have gotten much closer and it has only helped his work. They work out together, eat together and even watch black and white movies together. They're both into noir detective dramas.
Tonight, Gabi is (once again) working late. Its 11 and she should have been done hours ago. Evans just brought up her Doordash and they are sharing a meal. He's learned that this is the only way to get her to rest during a case.
Gabi was craving Thai food and Evans had long given up saying no to her. They shared cashew chicken and Khao pad. It was divine.
Over the meal, they talked about their the future. Evans wanted to stick with security work, for his brother's sake and Gabi was looking to find investors for M&A. Zeke bankrolling their whole operation couldn't last forever. Corporate funding was needed but that was a long term plan. For tonight, she was happy just to go to sleep.
As Gabi and Evans prepare to head back, an uneasy feeling creeps over the two of them. Sure enough, as they reach her place, the door is cracked open.
Evans gestures for her to stay back and contact the police. As Gabi dials 911, Evans checks each room. In her home office, one of the low lifes working for the Maryland trafficking ring is waiting with a 7 inch blade. Evans manages to subdue him, though not without damage.
When Gabi eventually enters her house, she finds the attacker tied up, unconscious and Evans bleeding from his side.
"Gabrielle.." he barely manages to croak out, before collapsing into her arms.
Part 3 here
Okay might be completely wrong here but I think it may actually be Jamie and his father took him.
1. The father didn't seem that upset about his son going missing
2. He would have had access to the train toy and would have known it was one of Jamie's favorite toys
3. Jamie doesn't want to see his father
4. Jamie isn't telling Margaret what happend because it's his father I think both for her and for his sake
5. The father ends up with the other kids as well because of how distraught Margaret becomes so no reason to take them
I could be completely wrong about him being really Jamie but I'm starting get the feeling it might actually be because how everyone is doubting it hell even Margaret is starting to get there. If I am wrong Jamie is definitely an Evens.
After Heather/Lena's two second interaction with Gabi I no longer ship Sir and Gabi. I ship Gabi with Lena now. Sir can back the fuck off now Gabi has a new psycho.
Gonna be so real, gang, I kinda expected Eddie to only get three seconds of screen time but itâs kinda wild that we got a time skip and pretty much everything revolving his immediate, acute grief happened off-screen.
Actually the time skip was the worst decision of the episode tbh. Like, Iâm more than fine spending most of the immediate fallout from Bobbyâs death with Athena (never gonna complain about more Angela Basset on my screen), but the idea that we hardly see any of the main characterâs reckoning with the loss besides Athena and Chim? Thank god we got SOME Hen in the end but fuck man. Why did we jump ahead two weeks? Why did we spend so much time on what shouldâve been a B-plot? How is Bobby dead but still had more screen time than other main characters but also got a janky montage as a funeral rather than an entire episode grieving his death? Literally what. Was any of that?
And the stoic Buck of it all? Yeah, people who called that theyâre setting him up for captain were right and truly I hate that with my whole heart. For seasons, so much of Buckâs character growth has been routed in realizing that he canât always be âthe guy who fixes thingsâ and how he canât be everything to everybody and more importantly that he doesnât NEED to be to still be loved and accepted. And now theyâre setting him up to the center point of the 118, the figure that every other firefighter looks toâlistens to, follows through literal flames. Literally making him become everything to everyone. The guy whose job it is to fix everything.
Take that with the implication that Bobby was right to think LA was not his real home; just his penance, his borrowed time (burying him with his âreal familyâ in Minnesota)âeven after he insisted on his last words that he found a will to live and a new family instead? I justâ
Itâs like theyâre undoing years of character development. And for what? For shock value and âcreative decisionsâ? The characters are no longer three dimensional fixtures in an expansive work of art exploring joy, despair, hope, grief, and the tumultuous lives of first responders. Theyâre glorified baby dolls being smashed into trauma after traumaâas if the showrunners got tired of telling interesting stories and instead now chasing dopamine rushes with the next big emergency they can torture their toys with.
And Iâm expected to watch season 9? Hell, the rest of this season? How? The creative minds behind the show clearly donât care much for the characters, so why should I?
(Great acting by Kenneth Choi and Angela Bassett though. Phenomenal what pros can do even with shitty scripts.)
The way I was SO convinced there would be at least the start of Bobby not being dead after all this episode that I spent the whole time waiting for it to the very last seconds and when it didn't come, I could not fathom itđ the way I'm lowkey still holding out a little tiny bit of hopeđđ€ this episode really crumbled my unwavering confidence though...đ„ș Like I might actually have to start accepting he might be dead frđđ
The opening with the sir dream and all the media shit got me hype for this episode!!!
My favorite thing that happened on OFMD Twitter today, possibly my favorite thing ever? When #HoistTheAds went live and the cast and crew came out of the woodwork to let us know they felt the love. Every other post on my timeline all day consisted of people aggregating and sharing cast posts from other platforms (mostly Instagram). Pirate Dad himself David Jenkins was taking the time to personally like every single one of the 1200+ comments on his post, just to show us he was seeing them and give back the love fans were giving.
Truly something else. If after everything, we don't succeed, at least now we know that they know how much we love them.
I love his switch up so much. Especially Trents confusion.
