What Can Lowell Eat As A Guilty Pleasure Besides Soup?

what can Lowell eat as a guilty pleasure besides soup?

Lowell had a braces phase Canon

Lowell feels a little guilty about everything he eats, he doesn't really feel like he's worth getting his basic needs met. The other things he tends to eat the most often are cooked red cabbage with wine and onions, pumpernickel bread with margarine, and beans straight out of the can 💀 as a treat sometimes he eats salted licorice wheels. He is a phenomenal cook, but he doesn't spend all that much energy on actually cooking for himself. He's likely to go all out and cook you a 3-4 course meal and just sit there with his beans, not even bothering to put them on a plate or heat them up.

He did have braces as a preteen! He was the kind of kid to get horrible sores in his mouth and still insist on eating sour candy, lol

I have a lot of questions so feel free to skip this one ^^

How does Lowell treat the MC in the beginning of the game, exactly? You said he treats them like a doll, but I'm p curious, how far does that go? Does he still think/know they're human? Does he let them sleep and go to the bathroom and stuff? I'm just curious about the small details aha,, and would the MC get fed outside of tea parties? How much freedom would they have in general?

Ok that's all thank you for reading <3 I can't wait for this game to come out

These are great questions that I'm more than happy to answer!

Lowell does understand that you're human and alive, in fact that's part of what makes you so exciting as a collectors piece for him- you're able to react and essentially 'play' with him, and he likes exerting his control over another living being, especially since for so much of his life he's felt so powerless.

You're perfectly able to sleep and the attic he keeps you in does have a small half bathroom that you're able to use, as well as a wash basin. There will be times he specifically binds or otherwise restricts the movement of the player if they're particularly obstinate, but is still responsive to their functional needs.

You also have access to food pretty much 24/7- if Lowell has to leave you for any reason, he'll make sure snacks and meals are left in a place you can access them, as well as water. He also has a small electric kettle, and if you're behaving well enough, he'll set up a little coffee/tea/cocoa station in the attic for you (ideally, he'd like to keep this in here all the time, but a captive person with boiling water at their disposal requires a bare minimum of trust that you aren't gonna try and hurt him with it).

All that being said, your freedom is still extremely limited. For the first portion of the game after you've been taken, the only part of Lowell's house that you'll see is the attic. You'll have to either earn some trust or REALLY fuck up to see any other part of the house. He doesn't intend to let you leave essentially ever again- the most he's willing to let you go is to his greenhouse/garden in the fully fenced backyard.

Playing the game as a romance or a friendship, you'll eventually have access to most of the house, including his bedroom. Playing the game as a horror, particularly if you fight him at every turn and figured out how to get him to actively dislike you, you'll have the opportunity to try to escape- yay! But if you mess that up, you're going to have essentially the Worst outcome for your freedom, which, barring any spoilers, does involve essentially losing all of your free will. This is actually the route in which Lowell sees you the least as a living being and the most as essentially a life sized doll.

I'm so pleased that you're interested in Darling Dollhouse and I hope this helped clear some things up!

How would Lowell help doll work through a panic attack?

In the past when he's experienced panic attacks, he uses vagus nerve stimulation techniques- he'll encourage you to bite a lemon, squeeze a cold orange, jump around to loud music, use a weighted blanket, etc etc. Using physical tactics on your body to kinda hijack your brain back into being calm.

If it's not too much of a spoiler, what chronic neurological illness does Lowell have? (Unless it's already posted somewhere and I just didn't notice, in which case my bad)

The conditions he has themselves are not spoilers! Lowell's primary diagnoses are Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis that is starting to progress more rapidly. He also suffers from gastroparesis, which makes it incredibly difficult for him to eat properly, a thyroid disorder, and he was just diagnosed with the beginning stages of rheumatoid arthritis at the onset of the game.

Lowell has been ill since he was a child, but he grew up in a neglectful household so he didn't recieve necessary medical care, and he both went to culinary school and now works as a commercial baker. He was essentially able to push past a lot of his symptoms to appear able bodied and has worked well past his limits for a long time, at massive detriment to his body- he's starting to feel the effects of his conditions acutely, and his ability to maintain his job and live a relatively normal life are declining rapidly.

I'm sparing the gorey details of how his conditions effect him in the two milder routes, but they will be playing a large part in the croquembouche route.

Lowell's feelings of losing control within his own body highly inform his character and his actions, and are drawn in large part by my own struggle with chronic and progressive disabilities- we don't share all of our diagnoses, but Lowell does have a few conditions that I myself suffer from.

In light of my life experiences now and always I feel it's necessary to remind folks that Lowell is disabled, has always been disabled, and will always be disabled. Lowell has a progressive chronic neurological illness and it is absolutely crucial to understanding his character.

What about Lowell's psychology makes him want to keep the mc and pamper them like a doll?

Excellent question! It's a little bit spoilers but without revealing too much he feels a total loss of control within his own life and that's extremely frustrating to him. Keeping a Doll, and particularly keeping them well, allows him to feel useful, interact with someone in a way that he feels a little more comfortable in, and gives him the opportunity to exert control after a long life of having pretty much no ability to do so.

He's also an avid collector who does like collecting dolls in general, and it thrills him to have a real live human specimen- the most unique doll he could possibly own, in his opinion.

How are you? How's things going, not just game wise, but with YOU. :3

sleepy 👍 I briefly lost my medical insurance, I need to quit my job, I got accepted into uni but I can't pay the acceptance fee so who even knows what's gonna happen with that lol, and uhhhh I'm trying to get into reading again because I love literature but i have to be pretty intentional about making time for it. I was able to acquire copies of fear and hunger and pathologic 2 so when I have energy sometimes I've been carving my way through them and soon it will be my day of Birth and I will at long last have a fully developed prefrontal cortex 🎉🎉🎉 pretty mixed bag but as I live and breathe I'm uhhhhh living and breathing
