you felt your throat close up, it felt as if you were going to vomit everywhere. The same feeling you got when you first got your trainee contract but ten times worse.
Everytime you got a text from your brother you looked around, and around and around until he finally came into your sight with your mother and father. You couldn’t stop the corner of your lips from curling up into a smile, neither could you stop the small fountain of tears starting to pool in your eyes.
Sure you’ve called and FaceTimed your family but sometimes there would be weeks even months where you weren’t allowed to be in contact with them. You didn’t where they were at all and they didn’t know where you were or if you were even safe.
It’s never felt so relieving to see them again. Before they could even see you, you ran up to all of them immediately embracing your mother in the biggest hug you could’ve ever given her, just as if you were a new born baby. Thank God your make up wore off during your plane ride here or else mascara would be everywhere.
It felt nice, familiar and comfortable to finally be around the people you cherish the most in this world.

Get in loser, we’re going to support Tsukki at the Sendai Frogs game today
Gen relationship has for kiyoko and yachi? Thanks I really enjoy ur writing
-Yachi
Climbing a mountain is easier than gaining her mothers approval
Constant sleep overs in a giant plushie pile <3
She collects squishmallows (This is a hill I am willing to perish upon)
She even has the tiny squishvile squishmallows
This makes holidays super easy but she’s happy just to have you with her
You got a few ‘you better not hurt my bestie’ threats from Kiyoko that still keep you up at night
You guys exchange wholesome memes constantly
Half your camera roll is just candid pics of her during practice or out and about
Family dinner is almost always awkward
Please please please don’t piss her off
It’s always one of the scariest things ever
She low-key stalked your socials for like a month before you guys started going out
Not in a super creepy way but in a ‘Let’s just looks at pics of my crush for three hours’ kinda way
Definetly not creepy
All in all the relationship is cute asf and the chances of Kiyoko coming for your soul are low
But never zero.
-Kiyoko
She doesn’t get much time off from her school activities
She can be a tsundere at times but it’s usually when she’s flustered/embarrassed
Literally, just hold her, my poor girl is so stressed
You guys usually just spend the night cuddling
But sometimes you get thrown off the bed in her sleep
She loses her glasses sometimes when their right in front of her face
She needs glasses to find her glasses
She likes to be in more protected positions when cuddling
Girlfriend is a little spoon
She just wants to be relieved of her responsibilities at the end of the day with some nice warm food and a movie
Fights are few and between but they get heated
Like someone call the fire department before they burn down the house
She likes doing things for her S/O like picking up small gifts to show she thought of them <3

다가오는 모든 여름에도 함께 있게 해 주세요
— please let us be together for the rest of the summers to come.
“I’m right around the corner, Yacchan. I have to end the call right now. I’ll see you in a bit. I love you!”
“I love you, too, [Name]!”
Yachi couldn’t help but feel the rush of emotions coursing through her as she slightly panicked inside her apartment after talking to her girlfriend on the phone. She double-checked everything she could lay her eyes on, be it the living room (which is actually clean after a few hours of cleaning) or the kitchen (which was polished to its optimal condition) or even the genkan (which also showed a tidy array of fuzzy house slippers and outdoor shoes of different brands). It was always like this since the beginning of your college years — you coming over to her apartment in Tokyo to spend the rest of your summers together while the blonde would make sure to welcome you warmly with a clean apartment.
The two of you started dating during your last year in Karasuno, with the blonde initiating the confession. It was out of the blue for you, seeing as you were outside of Shinzen’s gymnasium, trying to enjoy your moment of solitude before going in that stuffy building full of testosterone, when she blurted how much she liked you since she was in first year. You were baffled, of course, since the two of never shared the same class except for your last year together. The two of you were Karasuno’s managers at that time and in fact, it was Yachi who recruited you to be the second manager during your second year, claiming that you would fit right in. So during that time you served at the vice-manager, Yachi gradually became the one person you confide in, even becoming your best friend. But you always knew that your feelings for her transcended that of friendship when she poured her heart out for you.
Now, the two of you are happily dating for four years and the rest was something worth reminiscing.
While she was fussing over the state of her pristine apartment, Yachi stubbed her foot against the coffee table. “Ow,” she muttered painfully, mentally crying. As she was starting to stand up from the floor, the doorbell rang, making Yachi perk up and head over to the door with a big smile. “[Name]!” She immediately shouted once she opened the door.
You laughed gleefully while your girlfriend embraced you tightly the moment you got inside the genkan, your duffel bag dropped on the floor. “Yacchan!” Reciprocating the tightness of the hug, you could feel the slightest shake of the blonde’s shoulders, urging for you to break away from her hold to check up on your precious girlfriend. “Hey, don’t cry, Yacchan, I’m here right now.” You cooed in front of her while softly placing both of your hands on her cheeks, wiping away the stray tears gliding from her closed eyes.
Yachi continued to sob, her arms gradually loosening from your neck and finally stopping on your collarbones. “It’s just that we only get to once a year,” she cried. “Also in the winter holidays if we’re lucky. I just miss you, [Name]-chan.”
Her crying face remained pretty as you marveled at her visage with a soft gaze. While you continued wiping her tears with the most tender touch that you reserved only for her, you whispered, “Hey,” with her eyes fluttering open right after. Without hesitation, you lightly ducked down to place your lips against hers in the softest way you could ever be. Just a brush of your lips on Yachi made her stop mauling over how much she missed you as she kissed back with equal gentleness, relishing that this moment with you is everything that makes her day. It could be that she craves for your touch or that she finally has you in her arms, but Yachi took the boldest move she could do by deepening the kiss with the reddest face.
The moment you separated for air, you looked at her with hooded eyes and went in for another kiss, this one deeper than the last, with your hand buried in her blonde hair. Yachi, on the other hand, has tears running down her cheeks, which made you stop showering her with kisses. Placing your forehead on hers, you softly reminded her, “Let’s go, I bet you prepared a feast to welcome me back home.”
Yachi nodded enthusiastically, bouncing over to where she set the small dining room. “I even made your favorite!”
You laughed under your breath, taking off your sneakers and replacing it with the bunny house slippers she bought for you. Missing the soft slippers, you also took off your trench coat before picking up the duffel bag and making yourself comfortable across Yachi in the dining room. The entire time you ate dinner, Yachi filled you in on what happened on college, ranting to you about incompetent groupmates and proudly showing you her finished projects which she earned a couple of high marks in, and you were just sitting there with your chin on one hand, listening to every word your girlfriend told you.
When you’re with her, it was as if everything blurred around you, leaving your bubbly partner in full focus. Your summer was only spent inside the blonde’s apartment while she tried drawing you or watching some shows that you planned to watch together for so long, and at certain times, it would be spent outside, specifically in bookstores and coffee shops — but all of this mattered even more with Yachi despite how mundane they were. It almost made the blistering summer like Christmas because you definitely felt the joy the holiday brings every time Yachi hugged you from behind while brewing coffee or even cuddling with you on her bed.
“I want us to be together for the rest of the summers to come,” you mindlessly voiced out.
You saw a gentle shade of rose blossoming on Yachi’s cheeks as you never took your eyes from her from across the table, making your heart flutter at how beautiful she looked. It was moments like these, you wanted nothing more than to gush about anything Yachi, proving that she is nothing like the insecure person she tried to emphasize to you.
Yachi then presented the pulchritudinous smile you always adored. “With you, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
at some point during his 3rd year tsukki realized he was never going to be free from krsn 5 and crash tf out
like to think krsn 5 without tsukki are usually on the same page and all individually comes to the same ideas around the same time so here’s a short list of things concerning krsn 5 friendship that krsn 5-1 got and it took tsukki much more time
1. in high school their designated hang out spot was tsukki house. tadashi and tsukki already hung out there a lot. one time the rest of the gang had nothing to do so they followed them and it just stuck.
krsn 5-1 thought process was like: it’s spacious here and we get to see tsukki hot and NICE family. at some point tsukki got tired of yelling at them to go home and belligerently accepted his situation
2. they share clothes. my clothes are your clothes your clothes are my clothes type shit. it took tsukki an embarrassing amount of time to realize it was a thing but in his defence shoyo and tobio don’t tell him before they steal his clothes.
when tsukki looked at his closet and saw that half the things there weren’t even his, he had to admit that it’s not a one time thing and he’s a willing participant in it
3. it’s a pack for life. krsn 5-1 got it around the end of their first year meanwhile it took tsukki to the middle/near the end of his 3rd year. whole time he thought he would be free once he graduated. he was wrong.
they’re well into their adulthood, all got busy lives, 2/5 don’t even live in japan anymore and tsukki is still not free
++
going back to the clothes thing i just realized some of tsukki clothes are in brazil and italy while he’s in japan
my haikyuu headcanon that no one asked for is that yams and yachi dated very briefly in their second year (because they were confused) and when they broke up they made everyone sign an nda to never talk about it
3rd years yams and yachi made daichi and kiyoko look like angel
one time (multiple times) kageyama saw yachi wear his hoodie he thought he had lost
time skip yachi being followed on instagram by half the pro vb players community. the guys at her work and university go on her account to shoot their shot and are so discouraged by her followers list they don’t even try.
On the good side, yachi is a certified girl kisser so she’s happy guys don’t dm her. on the bad side, girls too don’t think they got a chance. It got so bad yachi put “wlw” in her bio
we, as a community, don’t talk about how krsn 5 would be the most unserious as 2nd year. they’re babies in 1st year and gotta lock in 3rd year. but in their 2nd year with noya and tanaka as their senior i just know they got into wild shit
★﹒₊‧ valentine's day is their absolute favorite holiday
↻ momo (she's a helpless romantic), ochako, ojiro, monoma (he just likes spoiling you), kurro (him too), yamaguchi, yachi, tanaka & noya.

Me when someone mischaracterizes my favs or a ship
okay so i like to think that yachi sometimes uses baking as a bit of a stress relief (which is technically all the time) and kiyoko picks up on this. so every single time that yachi bakes for the whole team or wtv yoko jst chats with her afterwards to see if she's doing alright <3
By third year, you'd think you and Tsukishima would've grown out of it—that exhausting little game you two played. Bickering like it was a sport, tension so thick the rest of the team had stopped trying to intervene. Kageyama used to flinch when you raised your voice. Yamaguchi had once tried to play mediator until Tsukishima shut him down with a look. Now everyone just let it happen. It was routine. Expected. Like the sun rising or Hinata yelling.
But even routines fray when they go unchecked.
Practice had been winding down when Yachi leaned in closer, her voice hushed just enough not to carry over the sound of the guys drilling serves. You were both by the bench, pretending to organize water bottles, but really—you were gossiping.
"I mean… he’s cute," she said, trying to hide her smile behind her clipboard. "And he’s nice. The captain of the basketball team asking you out isn’t nothing—you could give it a shot, right?"
You rolled your eyes, glancing toward the court—though your gaze snagged on a tall blond figure for half a second too long. "Yeah. Maybe. He’s handsome, smart, polite."
It was a lie.
You didn’t want nice.
You wanted someone else.
Someone whose voice grated on your nerves, who always had a snide comment for everything you did, who knew exactly how to provoke you and never held back.
You wanted someone who made you feel something.
Now the gym was quiet. Yachi had left twenty minutes ago, and you were the only one left locking up.
Or so you thought.
The doors creaked.
You turned, already annoyed. "I'm about to lock up—"
Tsukishima.
He stood in the doorway like he owned the place, one strap of his bag over his shoulder, golden eyes steady. Annoyingly calm. He didn’t even flinch at your tone.
You rolled your eyes. "Forgot your headphones again? Or do you just enjoy making my job harder?"
He didn’t answer. Not with words.
Instead, he stepped closer, his gaze sharp. Too focused.
Then he said it. Like it wasn’t the most jarring thing to say after a week full of snipes and insults.
“Don’t date him.”
You blinked. “What?”
“I said,”—he stepped closer—“don’t date him.”
You stared, mouth parting. You hated the way your pulse jumped. Hated it more because it was him.
“…Are you serious right now?”
His jaw clenched, but his voice stayed even. “Yeah.”
You laughed. Sharp. Bitter. “What, you get to talk shit to me every day and then play jealous boyfriend when someone else shows interest?”
“It’s not that.”
“Then what is it, Tsukishima?”
Silence.
And then, finally, something cracks in his expression. Not a smile. Not exactly. More like surrender.
“You drive me crazy,” he muttered. “But you’re all I think about.”
That shut you up. Just for a second.
He looked away first. “I’m not asking you to like me back. Just… don’t date him.”
You folded your arms, heartbeat loud in your ears. “That’s a shitty confession.”
He glanced back, and for once, his smirk was small. Almost nervous. "Would you have taken it seriously if I said it any other way?"
You paused.
“…Maybe.”
He scoffed lightly, shaking his head. "And Captain of the basketball team? Even you know you could do better. Guy probably thinks a free throw line is romantic."
There was bite in it. Smugness too—the kind that always laced his voice when he thought he had the upper hand. But underneath the jab was something messier, unspoken. Something that sounded too much like 'I care' for either of you to ignore.
But you laughed, and as you stepped past him, you caught a fistful of his collar and yanked him down just enough to crash your lips against his—firm, unrelenting, like every argument you two had ever had boiled down into a single moment.
His breath hitched, but he didn’t pull away.
You broke the kiss just as abruptly, brushing past him with heat still prickling at your cheeks.
“Just take me out this Saturday, asshole.”
The rhythmic sound of volleyballs being packed away and shoes scuffing against the polished gym floor filled the otherwise quiet space. Practice had ended, but cleanup was still in full swing. You, Yachi, and Kiyoko had stayed behind to help, making sure everything was back in place before leaving. The rest of the team was scattered around, gathering equipment and wiping down surfaces, their movements routine after countless practices.
Yamaguchi and Tsukishima were putting away the practice net while Asahi and Suga worked on reorganizing the stray volleyballs left rolling across the floor. Daichi had stepped out to check on something, leaving you with the quiet murmur of post-practice exhaustion settling in. Kageyama was off to the side, sipping from his water bottle while keeping an eye on Hinata’s usual spot. The gym carried an air of mild fatigue, a contrast to the high-energy chaos that had occupied it just minutes ago.
That’s when Yachi’s voice cut through the calm. "Where are they?"
You looked up from where you had been wiping down one of the benches, catching the way Yachi’s brows furrowed, her gaze darting around the gym like she had just realized something was missing.
"Who?" you asked, already bracing yourself for the answer.
"Tanaka, Nishinoya, and Hinata. They’re gone."
Your movements slowed as you scanned the gym again, this time with sharper focus. Sure enough, the usual ruckus that followed the three of them like a storm cloud was eerily absent. Your stomach dropped slightly, already knowing that their silence was far more concerning than their noise. It was never a good sign when they were quiet—never.
Kiyoko sighed, finishing her task before speaking. "Can you go find them? They need to be supervised."
You snorted, shaking your head. "Aye aye, captain."
But you knew what she meant. If they were up to something—and they most certainly were—it was better to find them before they actually did whatever half-brained scheme they had cooked up this time. With a nod, you handed your rag to Yachi and stepped out of the gym, making your way toward the clubroom with a sense of impending doom curling in your chest. The halls were eerily quiet, save for the occasional squeak of sneakers against linoleum, and that only furthered your suspicions.
As you got closer, muffled voices reached your ears, their tones a mix of excitement and hushed anticipation. That was never a good sign. You pressed closer, listening as Nishinoya’s voice carried through the door.
"Steady, steady! Just a little more—"
You didn’t hesitate, pushing the door open, and the sight before you made you stop in your tracks.
What the actual hell.
Nishinoya was perched on Tanaka’s shoulders, gripping a bucket of water with both hands while wobbling precariously. Tanaka, legs slightly bent, was visibly struggling to keep steady, his teeth gritted in effort. Off to the side, Hinata was bouncing on the balls of his feet, fists clenched in excitement, watching the process unfold like a kid on Christmas morning.
Your eyes flickered to the bucket, then back to the three of them. "What the hell are you guys doing?"
All three of them froze. Nishinoya’s grip tightened on the bucket, Tanaka swayed slightly, and Hinata turned toward you with an enormous grin, completely oblivious to the growing sense of dread pooling in your gut.
"Oh! Manager! You’re just in time!" Nishinoya chirped, grinning like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar but still thinking he could talk his way out of trouble.
Tanaka groaned under Nishinoya’s weight, his arms tightening around his legs as he tried to keep his balance. "We’re gonna prank Tsukishima!" he declared with absolute confidence, as if this wasn’t one of the worst ideas they had ever come up with.
Hinata, practically vibrating with excitement, threw his hands up like he had just scored the winning point. "I’m the bait!" he announced proudly, beaming at you like you should be impressed.
You blinked at him, not even bothering to hide your disbelief. "That’s not something to be proud of. Why did you guys drag him into this?" You jabbed a finger in Hinata’s direction, because there was no way he had come up with this on his own. He was many things, but this level of reckless planning was usually Nishinoya and Tanaka’s specialty.
Hinata blinked, looking genuinely confused as he tilted his head. "Tsukishima?" he asked, his tone innocent. "Or me?"
You sighed, rubbing your temples. "Never mind. This is a terrible idea."
Nishinoya, ever the stubborn one, pouted. "Come on, it’s perfect! Tsukishima walks in, bam! Instant karma!"
You crossed your arms, eyeing the way Tanaka’s legs were starting to tremble. "Yeah, except karma usually doesn’t involve potential concussions and water damage."
"Okay, but look!" Nishinoya beamed, adjusting his grip. "It’s balancing! We got this!"
You pinched the bridge of your nose. "No, you don’t—"
Too late. Nishinoya made the final adjustment, and the bucket settled, wobbling slightly before holding steady above the doorway. With a triumphant grin, Nishinoya pumped his fists—only to realize he was still on Tanaka’s shoulders. In a flash, he scrambled down, nearly toppling them both in the process. Tanaka staggered, arms flailing to keep himself upright as Nishinoya hopped off, landing with an eager bounce before spinning toward Hinata. "Alright! We’re good to go!" he whispered excitedly, rubbing his hands together like an evil mastermind.
Hinata gasped. "It worked!"
"It worked!" Nishinoya hissed.
You groaned. "This is still a bad idea."
But they weren’t listening. With a determined nod, Hinata scampered back toward the gym, his voice carrying through the hall. "Tsukishima! Oi, come here for a sec!"
Silence.
Then—
Footsteps, slow and steady, echoed through the hallway. Each step was deliberate, methodical, like the sound of impending doom marching ever closer. Tanaka, Nishinoya, and you turned toward the doorway in perfect synchronization, a creeping sense of dread washing over you like an oncoming storm. The playful anticipation that had been buzzing in the air evaporated, leaving behind only the cold bite of realization.
Daichi appeared in the doorway, and time seemed to slow. The bucket teetered precariously for a split second before tipping forward, a perfect arc of water cascading down in slow motion. The moment it made contact, Daichi’s entire frame stiffened, his breath hitching as the cold liquid soaked through his hair, dripping down his face and pooling in the folds of his jacket. His usually composed expression was eerily blank, too calm, too quiet, which somehow made everything infinitely worse.
Tanaka’s face morphed from exhilaration to pure horror, his eyes so wide they looked ready to pop out of his skull. Nishinoya’s grin faltered, his entire body rigid as his mind struggled to process the disaster that had just unfolded. And you? You could already feel the headache forming, your lips parting slightly in silent resignation.
Hinata, standing just behind Daichi, let out a small, strangled noise. "No, wait! Don’t—!"
Splash.
The air went still. Slowly, you peeked around the doorframe just in time to see Daichi standing there, drenched from head to toe. Water dripped from his hair, his jacket clinging to him in soaked patches. His expression was eerily blank, which was infinitely worse than immediate rage.
Hinata was mid-step, looking like he had seen his life flash before his eyes.
Tanaka and Nishinoya were frozen, as if staying completely still would erase what had just happened.
The silence stretched, unbearably tense.
You exhaled through your nose and turned away. "I told you."
Then, without another word, you walked off, leaving them to their fate.
Behind you, all hell broke loose.
"YOU IDIOTS!" Daichi’s voice roared, shaking the very foundation of the building.
"RUN!" Nishinoya shrieked, bolting toward the hallway with the kind of agility that came only from the fear of divine punishment. His feet barely touched the ground as he shot past you, arms pumping as if sheer speed could somehow make him disappear from Daichi’s wrath.
Hinata scrambled backward, hands raised in surrender. "It wasn’t me, I swear!"
Kageyama, who had been returning from the locker room, took one look at the chaos and deadpanned, "You guys are so dumb."
Asahi groaned, covering his face. "I don’t want to be associated with this."
Back in the gym, you rejoined Yachi and Kiyoko just as Daichi’s furious yelling echoed in the distance.
Kiyoko barely looked up from where she was stacking volleyballs. "They’re idiots."
You sighed, running a hand down your face. "Hundred percent."
Fandom: Haikyuu (My contribution for the @hqurbanfantasybang) Type: Chaptered (3/3 - 40.1k words total) // Urban Fantasy AU ; University AU Focus: Unknown Species!Yamaguchi (Yamaguchi/Kuro/Bokuto friendship/support/mentorship) Ships: TsukiYama, BokuAka, KuroKen, IwaOi & DaiSuga; implied LevYaku, UshiTen, KageHina & MatsuHana Rating: Mature (descriptions of blood and injuries & explicit language)
Summary: Tadashi Yamaguchi has problems. As in: A lot. People can't stop reminding him that he smells tasty and they'd like to eat him. His best friend and he are indirectly responsible for burning down their previous university. He can't figure out how to stop turning orange whenever he's nervous, keeps hitting his antlers on the lintel and the lion's tail growing out his back seems to have developed a mind of its own. Oh, and of course there is that cute but grouchy med student vampire living across the hall who he is crushing on hard but doesn't have the courage to ask out! On top of everything he now has to transfer to a new uni and try to survive campus chaos. Luckily, a pixie with chronic bed-hair and a shapeshifter who transforms into a duck rather than an owl whenever he's upset, decide to take him on and teach Tadashi some confidence. Inbetween mysterious mentors, headless centaurs, annoyed dragons, hungry werewolves, kickboxing archangels, literal gods and sassy half-ghosts he isn't quite sure if they are actually helping his increasing anxiety attacks, but hey... it's the effort that counts, isn't it?

“So, tomorrow is the big day, isn’t it?” Yachi asks and Tadashi takes a sip of tea.
There is nothing better than a witch’s homemade tea, even if the blonde’s speciality is time-based magic and not herbology.
“Yeah,” he nods and shudders.
“You got this!” she reassures him, but her own hands clench nervously around her cup as she goes on, “I mean Central is a big uni with lots of people - you can blend into the herd and nobody will notice you, that’s good, isn’t it? It has to be good!”
“I hope you are right,” Tadashi sighs. “I still wish I could have joined your uni” - ‘If only it wasn’t a damn expensive, super fancy, private one!’
The two of them met about a year ago, in the bathroom of another uni out of town. Both of them had been invited to an application interview and both of them had been so nervous they needed to throw up. Eventually, they bonded over rinsing their mouths at the uni-sex sinks. When Tadashi was in need of a place to live, Yachi volunteered to vouch for him with her landlord who owned several flats in this building, the one he is living in now included and since it’s one of the smallest it’s surprisingly affordable.
It’s not like his family is poor, they get by quite well, but Tadashi doesn’t want to be a financial burden on his mothers any more than he already is, since his tendency to attract trouble in combination with his non-existent self-confidence has gotten him either denied or fired from every job he’s had so far.
“Me too - then I wouldn’t be so alone in my design classes anymore,” she frowns into her cup. “But doesn’t Tsukishima-San goes to Central as well? Maybe you could stick to him and - oh”
From the look on his face, she must have deducted that plan already went down the drain - rather spectacularly if he might say so. Yachi is well aware of Tadashi’s crush on the blond vampire.
