it's a very popular theory and it makes so much sense! but it does have some sad implications, such as the consequences of such a hard natural selection process for their family.
I actually think it makes a lot of sense, if you consider how many babies an eel can have (on average, female moray eels can release 10,000 eggs at a time) and some parts of the story, such as Floyd's labwear vignette in which he says he's "neither the youngest nor the oldest twin", in Jade's halloween vignette in which it's mentioned that ghosts wander through the sea at that time and that both him and Floyd had seen other Jades and Floyds around, in the Harveston's Kelkkarotu event in which Jade mentions that currently their family consists of five members, and in the story in which Jade mentions he's glad him and Floyd "choose each other".
taking it in consideration, alongside the Coral Sea's harsh environment, it explains why their parents seem to be so protective of them (not to mention the potentially dangerous shady job his father runs). Miss Leech won't lose another of her babies if she has any say on it!
