I find it soo funny that when Edwin leaves Cat King in the woods he gets all upset and is like "Next time you see me I'm gonna be sooo mean and evil, ur gonna regret hurting my feelings so much",, and then the next time we do see him he's being all pathetic and sad about Edwin going to hell, girl get up
the more i think about the fact that charles never got to confront the cat king, the funnier it is. i guarantee, other than thinking of him as a sexual rival, the cat king has not stopped to consider charles At All. meanwhile charles has a beef the size of the moon. he's strapping explosive devices to the rats in port townshend and training the dogs on rite aid body spray
How about we stop interpreting the Cat King into something he is not and start listening to Lukas Gage about his own character instead?
Because it's genuinely concerning how some people view him, and at this point, I am starting to believe you people are so hostile towards him because he disrupts Painland, which he doesn't since Edwin can very much like two people at the same time (most people in real life do).
Lukas also sees this shit... It's obvious he loves this character and worked very hard to make him complex and three-dimensional, only for people to misunderstand him completely and start treating him horribly, which I'm sorry but it's completely bullshit.
So less "I don't like him because he makes me feel icky for no apparent reason" and more media comprehension.

Average day in the cannery/ for TCK
Guys I'm definitely on time for this, trust me-
Week 1: Putting Up Decorations
This HC thingy is set in an AU where Monty, The Cat King/Thomas and Niko are left at Port Townsend while Edwin, Charles and Crystal return to London. The Case:Dismissed trio.
The Cat King often magics the smallest bit of holiday decor in the cannery for his servants: sparse tinsel, glittery snowballs, and lots of fragile ornaments dangerously hung on Christmas trees. When he adopts Monty off the streets he spots the crow-boy's eyes googling at the glittering ropes of Christmas lights that litter most of the neighborhood houses. He didn't judge Monty and instead mulled over making the cannery look less of a minefield. Plus he wants to entice a certain ghost that has been depressively loitering around Tongue and Tail and stares at him heartbroken.
So Thomas stays up one night and digs around to see what his two 'captives' enjoy. Monty's interetst are distastefully obvious; astrology. He was unsatisfied however and looked a bit deeper and noted that the pretty boy liked shiny things: bracelets, rings and other trinkets. Maybe Thomas will get something like a friendship bracelet for Esther's past familiar. Niko was more difficult to find a gift for. He easily found that she enjoyed yaoi but he had not been able to find what she had and had not read. Plus he has little knowledge on such things (as of now) so he wouldn't know where to start so he spots this small crocheted T. Rex and he magics his own yaoi version(s) of the plush and tracks back home satisfied with himself.
He manages to convince Niko to come to the cannery later that week. And despite easily being able to put up more decorations with a snap of his fingers he invites Monty to go shopping at their local department store. Watching the crow prance through the aisles feverishly emptying things into their cart. He didn't let Monty believe he went soft though, he nitpicked a few of his items, mostly things that looked like rainbow vomit and anything too cute; or things that his cats would immediately shove down their throat. Thomas and Monty make it to the cash register with a cart full of dusty rugs, partially dead flowers, seasonal candles, and a tube of premade cinnamon roll dough.
Monty turns out to be a rather dangerous baker, spilling half the pack of frosting on a cat and somehow in his hair before Thomas can stop him. The cinnamon rolls themselves are for some reason mouth wateringly delicious and it lures the ghost inside. He summons a pot of tea with china cups and keeps an eye on the pile of cinnamon rolls making sure they never truly run out cause fuck they're addictive.
The three murmured, hunched over drinking out of a classy set of tea cups that would normally be in the thousands, and covered by furred blankets Monty couldn't part with so Thomas bought three for this exact situation.
They didn't talk much about anything, avoiding the sour topic of the dead boy detectives that had changed their lives and opting for shoving their mouths with delectable sweets. Monty was the first to start rambling on about useless things and Niko made a few comments about her yaoi sometimes wrapped around that. Thomas sat back as the two calmly bounced back and forth in their conversation and only requested for Niko to stay during the holiday season just until new year's. Niko mulls over it and decides to stay. After all watching Jenny struggle while tearing down her room is only making her feel worse. Plus the cats were very persuasive.
So the three spend their holidays in the cannery enjoying tiny sweet pastries and warm drinks. Hanging garland and wrapping up make-believe presents as if they're close friends and really do want to share time with them. Monty and Thomas curl up next to each other as Niko recounts one of many plots of her yaoi or all three of them wrap up in a blanket and watch Scooby Doo and ignore how teenage detectives ruined their lives. One day however Thomas finally chooses to present the small little gifts he got for the two. Melting when Niko squeals when she spots the tiny plush and his eyes widening as she envelops him in a warm hug. Monty's reaction is a bit more reserved but his eyes sparkle the same mystified when he saw the eye watering christmas lights earlier that winter. He doesn't shrug off the childish gift and instead sincerely thanks Thomas for everything.
Niko, Monty and Thomas spend that night a tad bit familiar with each other, weaving roots in each other's presence and seeing each other as family moreso friends. Even if it was December 29th, four days after Christmas, it seemed like the most magical day of their troublesome years. A holiday belonging to them and only them. They didn't need a group of dead boy detectives and a psychic girl, they just needed each other and life would be brills.

The Cat King did not sexually harass Edwin. I'm tired of seeing this bullshit.
He only offered to sleep with him once and as soon as he saw that Edwin was uncomfortable, he offered him another task.
Yes, he continued to flirt with him the other 2 times he saw her, but at no time did he try to force Edwin to do something he didn't want to do. That's all the difference.
And also, for the thousandth time, Edwin was clearly in crush on the Cat King in return. He enjoyed all the flirting and interest the Cat King gave him. Not only that but it was positive for his development.
So please, people stop talking about this bullshit.
I also saw someone say that the Cat King acted like a predator towards Edwin... But in what way ?
Because he asked him to sleep with him ? Do you know that sexual proposition does not necessarily equal predatory ?
Because he put a spell on him ? Punishment for Edwin doing the same thing to one of his cats.
That he had him watched ? Well he literally gave him a task / punishment to accomplish in his own town. Logically, he therefore keeps an eye on Edwin.
Whether people liked it or not, but Edwin liked the Cat King and was attracted to him. He was not traumatized by him. He's not afraid of him. He appreciated all the flirting and interest that was shown in him. And the Cat King didn't force him to do anything at all. He didn't even try. The complete opposite of the behavior of a predator and a sexual harasser.
Frankly, it's getting ridiculous. It's okay to dislike the Cat King and the Catwin relationship, but stop trying to turn it into something it's not.
What are you so afraid of ? Edwin will probably end up with Charles anyway.
But I imagine that what once again drives these people crazy is precisely the fact that canonically, whether they liked it or not, Edwin had a crush on the Cat King and appreciated his attentions, without experiencing / feeling them like attacks, which they obviously were not, as I said in many others posts...

I might be controversial, I know a lot of people don't like it, but in my opinion Crystal dresses the best 💜💜🖤. Post amnesia Crystal too. Her outfits are loud and weird but that's what I like about them.

So I have this now. The ducks started as a joke (not my idea or designs they were done by namacofazbear) I don't think it's a joke anymore.
My mind just thought of the cat king meeting the goblin king. Dead Boy Detectives and the Labyrinth wouldn't be the weirdest cross over. Now I also feel like the cat king has at least met David Bowie. The things that pop into my head.

These are two of my favorite catwin fics. The first is about Edwin wanting to learn to self defense so he goes to the cat king to she if he can teach him. The second is about Edwin pretending to be the cat king to trick two people that have come to speak to him. The second is a locked fic, that is why there is no link.

Sirius, James, and Charles who talk about starting a band all the time but never do it.
Regulus, Remus, Lily, and Edwin sit and read or talk about there partners.
Crystal and Marlene would be amazing together. The levels of sass through the roof.
Barty and Evan would be try to talk to the cat king so much thinking he is so cool. Might smoke together honestly.
Pandora, Niko, and Monty would be a trio I would like to see. Just the vibes there.
Peter and Monty are two that have sort of this opposite going parallel (I say like I know what that means) and I think that would be interesting. Also know I am think of astrology loving Peter and that slays.
Ester and Bellatrix would be in a competition. Not sure for what but they would.
I have seen someone put little cat sunglasses on their cat and the Cat King would absolutely love them. He can be human one second with sunglasses and turn into his cat form and have the same ones.

Monty and The Cat King
Monty is one of the characters I wish I knew more about. I want to know what started his interest in astronomy, how long he has been Esters familiar, and how his character would change after Ester is gone.
The cat king is a very interesting character as he has been around for forever or at least a long ass time. Having only so many lives and some already being gone be by the start of the show makes his past more intriguing.
For caitvi maybe it could be Vi and Jenny, and Caitlyn with the night nurse.
VI and Jenny I do not have much reason besides tattoos and VI's pit fighter look.
Caitlyn and the night nurse cause with Cait being an inforcer and the night nurse keeping dead children in check they both have jobs that are there to keep order in some way.
With Mel and Monty switching that does leave Ambessa and Ester as an option.
The other characters I am not sure with are tragic mick, the cat king and David.
