Fun fact: we went on a vacation to a time loop with 3 different musicals going on at the same time (the time stamps are a little different there, so when these were made it was all before 1940)
The three musicals were:
42nd Street
Footlight Parade
The Broadway Melody
We watched them for a week straight, entirely in love, that’s when we began writing our own scripts and musicals
Musicals are time loops. Every night, the same thing happens except for a few minor differences. It always ends the same. If you want the characters to do something different or to make better choices, too bad. The actors are bound by the script and the score. The only way for the time loop to end is for the show to close. But you (the audience) don't want the show to close, nor do the actors who would like to be employed. It's a lose/lose situation. For the actors, audience, technicians, and for the characters, who are forever stuck in the same stretch of time.

- it’s gonna follow most of the beats from the musical, minus some at the beginning, probably more Shadow and Amy interaction but I’ll get there when I get there
- I think I wanna put Eggman as prof Callahan but the lore is gonna change a bit to fit into the universe better
- there’s gonna be a few ocs for background characters like Enid or the delta nu girls (minus 1 bc I think sticks should at least be Margo) but for the most part more minor characters aren’t a huge issue
- some of the motivations will have to change to fit the characters obviously. Like shadows not in law to try and buy a house for his mom lol. I’m thinking he’s trying to become a lawyer to get justice for the people who killed Maria
- I’m struggling to figure out what I want included: I don’t think they have powers it’s more real world au, but should I incorporate the chaos emeralds? Maybe flickies and badniks?
- Oh and chao exist because I want Amy’s to be the Bruiser equivalent
- I thought eggman could still be all supervillain but not yet and Amy finds out about it and has to leave which fits into the plot near the end a bit better- she has a soft spot for flickies anyways and maybe to see that he’s building machines using their power would really upset her. But then what? Is his goal to get the chaos emeralds? Or is this like a general power grab type thing?
Side note: if anyone has any shadamy fic requests to read so I can get a hold of their characters a little more pls send them my way!

eijiro is your biggest fan, making you feel like a mainstream actor. when you tell him you landed the lead role in newest musical, he seemed to be more excited than you! “i know you could do it, you’re the best!”
eijiro acts like your manager—a super nice one of course—he helps you rehearse your lines and guides you through warming up your voice.
he comes to every rehearsal he can make it too. eijiro cheers for you and your peers. your peers actually love him, how could they not? stage crew like to use him to carry and lift things, he enjoys doing these things knowing they help you in the long run.
secretly memorizes all the songs (and learns the meaning behind each of them) you’re singing so he won’t only be watching but also understanding.
his favorite musical is legally blonde! he thinks it’s super fun and elle woods quickly becomes his new inspiration.
on opening night, he gives you a bouquet of flowers before you go and stage. even in a rush he can’t help but encourage you, “can’t wait to see you on stage baby, i’m so excited.”
he is cheesing in the front row seats, his eyes not leaving you for a single second. he’s the first one standing when the show is over, clapping as the curtains come to a close.
“you were so good!” he engulfs you in a bear hug and you laugh. he is also brought to tears when he sees your glowing face, you’re like a real-life star and he gets to live in your glory.
after another bouquet of flowers and a million praises, he finally takes you home.
for the next three week he’s singing non-stop, the songs from the musical stuck in his head.

denki doesn’t know much about musical theater but after watching your first performance he finds that it’s his new eye candy.
when you tell him you landed the lead role denki grins, “what do i always say? my girlfriend is crazy talented!” his arm is draped around your shoulder. he pulls you closer, leaning down to kiss your cheek, “you’re gonna do amazing, i know it.”
tries his best to help you rehearse but gets distracted. “wait so, she has a crush on her sister's husband? that’s fucked up man.” even with his confusion he still manages to be super into the drama of it all.
denki lets you practice your stage makeup on him and is actually excited when you ask him to. thought by the end of it, he’s unsure, “are my cheeks supposed to be that… pink?”
would lose his mind if you had to do an onstage kiss. “can’t you just high-five instead! i mean you don’t have to kiss!” he says while he crosses his arm, practically pouting.
his favorite musical is heathers, no explanation needed. spongebob is a close second.
has tried to help backstage once but accidentally bumped into a switch and caused a power outage. the stage crew has been a little more cautious around him after that.
arrived to your show right as it starts so he can’t see you face to face until after the show, he’s devastated about this.
runs backstage as soon as the curtains fall, screaming. “BABE! YOU DID GREAT OUT THERE!” crushing you in a hug. he pulls back to hand you some flowers, the bouquet looking a bit shabby because he got fidgety during the show. “you're a star, should sign with broadway.” he teases as he walks you out.
denki somehow convinced the other theater kids to have an after party. so you spend the night celebrating with your boyfriend who makes this accomplishment feel special.
he may have auditioned for the next show to surprise you but didn’t get the role so he never told you about it.

hanta acts chill, but in the inside, he is amazed on how you keep on becoming more and more perfect, “lead role? holy shit babe that’s huge!” he brings you close and ruffles your hair “looks like i got an actor on my hands now.” he teases.
hanta is an absolute sweetheart, but he’s no actor. “oh no, how could you do this to me. i’m in completely despair.” he reads off the script with not a single hit of emotion behind his words. he then looks up with you with a grin, “did i do it good?” he’s trying his best to help you.
if you have a dance-heavy role he’ll joke about being jealous of your dance partner (he is not joking, he is jealous). he offers to help you practice dancing; this is mostly for his own pleasure.
tried to harmonize with you once but his voice cracked. hasn’t attempted to sing again since that day.
adds little encouraging doodles in the margins of your script. some with encouraging messages like, “you got this superstar!” others are… not so encouraging “i should’ve been cast as your super hot and cool love interest.”
got banned from watching your rehearsals because he would cheer every time you said your lines and boo everytime your love interest spoke. (denki was there supporting—booing—too)
his favorite musical was matilda, but after finding out that it’s originally british he changed it to mamma mia. now he can’t help but cry whenever he hears slipping through my fingers.
brings you chocolates and flowers on opening night. gives you a forehead kiss before you go on stage. “i’m might be more nervous than you,” he lets out an airy laugh and you end up having to comfort him. “break a leg!” he says as you walk off, his voice still weary.
he pretends to be causal when he sees you preform for the first time but how could he? you were perfect in every way and so impossible to ignore.
“you are so awesome.” is all he can say when you come off the stage. he is absolutely starstruck. he pulls you a long hug because he is just so freaking proud of you.

hitoshi is a part of the tech/backstage crew for the theater. he’s seen all the shows and actors before. so it comes to no surprise to him when you tell him you got the lead role, knowing how good you are. “of course you got the lead baby, you’re the best actor here.” he almost laughs at your modesty.
you both being theater heads leads to a lot of helping each other out! arriving at the theater early to help him prepare the stage speakers while you warm up your voice.
hitoshi is ecstatic when you ask him to adjust your mic or move the lights. he’ll take any chance he can to help you out.
if you’re alone in the theater rehearsing, hitoshi sometimes likes to mess with you through the intercom “that’s not how you said the line last time!” he calls out. you didn’t even know he was watching you.
lets you ruffle his hair and mess with his headset.
maybe the other actors don’t know it, but the stage crew does. hitoshi makes sure the stage crew never hears the end of your achievements. he doesn’t even mean to, he just finds himself commenting on your performance.
“she’s really good at that.” he watches from backstage with a smile, speaking to no one in particular.
“be careful with that set piece, my girlfriend is on stage.” he says it deadpan, but eveyone knows he’s serious.
his favorite musical is the addams family, obviously.
consoles in izuku about color theory so he can learn what color stage lights will match best with your skin tone.
you get ready for opening night together. he zips up your costume and you tighten his tie. he gives you flowers and a high quality pair of sheer tights, you almost propose to him right there.
hitoshi is happy he has the pleasure of watching you backstage, seeing you from an angle no one else is.
you stand next to each other when the show is over, and the time comes to bow for the crowd. he doesn’t let go of your hand when the curtain drops. before you can even open your mouth to ask, he speaks “perfect, fucking perfect.” he praises as guides you into a gentle kiss.
Today, I'm thinking about Jesus Christ Superstar again (specifically the 2012 live arena version). Im thinking about how raw and desperate and viceral all of it is. Thinking about the inherit guilt and shame and anger is jesus and judas. How they can rail against the narrative all they want, can drag their feet towards the end, can go kicking and screaming, and it will end up the same anyway. How hard they fight against their fate, desperate to be heard. Judas begging Jesus to trust him, to listen to his concerns. "Listen Jesus, I don't like what I see. All I ask is that you listen to me, " Jesus begging God to have mercy, to answer the cries of his knly son. "God, god, why have you forsaken me?". Anout how Jesus begged for him mother as he was dying, about how scared and alone he was. Thinking about how Judas was right the whole time, that they did turn against Jesus, that it was out of his control. Jesus did want him, need him, to betray him for the sake of gods plan. "You wanted me to do it,". Thinking about how Judas didn't go to the rally with Jesus in hosanna, isntead watching over him from afar. About how all of the zealots who only saw jesus as a savior, half god half sacrificial lamb, and how judas was the only one not there. Thinking about anachronisms and using each others name like a curse. "You liar, you Judas." "Christ you deserve it. " Thinking about the love that threads them together, even if its not enough to save either of the.
Today, i'm thinking about Hadestown and the celebration of a doomed narrative. I'm always a sucker for a doomed narrative, but for Hadestown, it's different because of course it's heartbreaking, its devestating and unfair and they're so close, but also because it's seen as a triumph. Because the very first song it tells you what this story is. Even if you dont know the story of orpheus and eurydice, it tells you the basics going in. It's an old song, it's a love song, and most of all it's a sad song. It's a tragedy. And then the rest of the musical is spent falling in love with the characters. The whole story is spent making you forget that first song. And it works. You're rooting for them, you want them to succeed. They're walking out of hell theyre gonna make it and they can be happy and orpheus turns around. And it feels like a betrayal, because it's so heartbreaking because how did you forget? It's made more so by the Road to Hell reprise, when Hermes retells yoy everything he already said. When he stops singing and tells you what you forgot. It's a tragedy. It feels almost like a beratement, because of course he turns around, that's how it goes. Why would this time be any different? It feels like a cruel reminder of our own stupidity.
And yet...it's not. Hermes says it himself. There's power in knowing how it ends and singing it again anyway. It's a celebration of that stubborness to see them get a happy ending. A celebration of the fact that we're all just little kids demanding the story be told again and to get it right this time Because they deserve their happy ending, they deserve to get out, even if we know it's impossible. It's triumphant because in the face of gods and death and hell itself, we are here demanding it be done again and again because they have to get it right eventually. And its true, because I listen to the soundtrack over and over and each time I get to the end my heart is ripped out of my chest because I thought it was going to end differently this time. And when it doesn't, I listen to it again. It's a blessing from hermes to be defiant in the face of cosmic forces for the simple fact that they were in love and they should get to be in love. A celebration of not the tragedy, but the refusal of it.
I need to hurry up and take vocal lessons I want to do a table read of hades town for my next birthday.

Just listened to 'Confrontations' in Jekyll & Hyde, and THAT SONG IS AMAZING!!! The deep parts of Hyde were so powerful, and the rapid switching was great! I especially love when notes were held and stretched out, send shivers all over my body! It also tells a really cool narrative.

Waiting for the school theatre director to announce the spring musical is killing me... apparently she said it would be announced in 'a couple hours', but that was 4 hours ago.

Like when I first read the plot summary of ride the cyclone this is what I imagined. This... show stopping number a real show stopper

Hypothetical Cobra Kai Musical Songs (Season 1)
What is Cobra Kai was or had a Musical? Well, this is what I think a couple of the songs in Season 1 would be like.
As someone who views the beginning of the show as both Johnny and Daniel being the main characters, the first song of the hypothetical musical should definitely be a duet between them. However, since the show was known for being 'The Johnny Spinoff' in it's earlier seasons, I think it's fitting that Daniel's POV comes first, an upbeat, piano and ukulele heavy section with generally happy themes. About 75% through Daniel's section, it transitions to a commercial for his autoshop where he sings about his great deals and awesome ethical code and it's all going gre-
And then the TV shuts off and we see Johnny's reflection in the screen. We get a bitter, guitar-heavy section of Johnny ranting about how his life has gone completely downhill ever since that one tournament. It goes until the chorus kicks in, where Daniel and Johnny sing their sections together and it ends with the lines, "And it's all uphill/downhill...from here." Obviously the song would be called From Here.
Next, I'm thinking a Miguel and Johnny duet of Miguel trying to convince Johnny to teach him karate after he saved him from Kyler. Think if My Superhero Movie (TTGTTM) and The Other Side (TGS) had a lovechild. Miguel starts singing about how he can make him strong and then Johnny cuts in about how karate ruined his life and that Miguel is better off just not drawing attention to himself. It ends with Johnny yelling at Miguel to fuck off and Miguel does, well, fuck off. The song would be called What You Could Make Me.
The next song is admittedly somewhat odd to place here but it's a Demetri solo called Under The Radar, basically about how it's better for social outcasts like them to stick to themselves and while he could yearn for something bigger, he finds that time better spent studying for MIT, building models, basically nerd stuff. I'm not entirely sure what it would sound like, but I think it would have some Daft Punk style tech motifs. I also just think it would be funny if Demetri was the first character to get a solo. It shouldn't be more than a minute and a half long though.
Next is a Kyler Villain Song (that sentence feels so wrong to type). It's basically the inverse of Under The Radar where it's basically Kyler just bragging about being tough and popular and saying how nerds like Miguel can't even hope to step up to gods like him. Just Kyler riding an ego high for two minutes. I'd call it Hopeless.
Then, a Miguel solo. It would take place after Carmen forbids him from training with Johnny. It'd be similar to How Far I'll Go except with Spanish guitars and drums. It'd definitely have aspects of What You Could Make Me, Hopeless, and Under the Radar in there. It'd be called Break The Cycle and the chorus would always start with 'If I could break the cycle' until the last one where it's 'When I break the cycle'.
The next song is a song for my glorious ki-Robby, I mean Robby. It would take place when Johnny goes to confront him at his mom's house when he's hanging out with his scumbag friends. It's basically an alternative rock song about how Johnny blew his chance to actually be a father to him so he better not pretend to care now. It would be similar to Hell is Forever from Hazbin Hotel, especially with Robby's friends providing background vocals and how it would end with Robby literally throwing Johnny out of the apartment. This song would be called Second Chances Don't Exist.
The next song takes place when Daniel visits Miyagi's grave, where he considers Amanda's words about being an asshole for raising the rent. It's about how much Cobra Kai's hurt him but he's lost himself in his trauma and shit like that. I guess it can be called I've Lost Myself or something like that. Honestly, not to sure on that name so consider it a placeholder.
Next up, a Hawk solo. This song is, and I'm not joking, just Let It Go from Frozen. It's about Eli's transition into Hawk, starting with him lamenting about his status and vulnerability before resolving to make a change and become a different version of himself, craft a new persona, spread his wings and become The Hawk. I'd call it Flip The Script.
Up next is a song about Daniel training Robby through the unconventional ways of Mister Miyagi, think Warrior of the Mind from Epic The Musical except less intense and with some flutes and drums. It would be Daniel heavy but Robby would have a few lines about how all this training sucks and he feels like it's just a way to make him do chores. That is until he sees the progress he's made thanks to the training and the final chorus is a full on duet between the two. Idk what this song would be called so feel free to suggest any names.
Then, definitely a love duet between Miguel and Sam, I don't actually have an example to compare it to so this section will be short as hell. I don't have a name for it either lmao.
Next, you know that scene in the junkyard of Johnny training the new Cobras? Turning it into a song. It would be if You've Got The Touch and Make A Man Out Of You did a fusion dance, and it would most likely be a Johnny solo. It would also be an inverse of the Daniel-Robby song from earlier. I'd call it something like Pain is Progress. (Not very sure on this name either).
The season would end with a reprise of From Here, with Daniel and Johnny both thinking about their respective victories and losses in the tournament, Daniel reassuring Robby that his second place trophy while Johnny laments about having misled his students and driven his son further away. The reprise would end with Kreese literally appearing in the dojo and singing the last line. Alright, so, since I don't want this to be too long and Cobra Kai is a VERY long series, I'm going to do one of these for each season. And they split Season 6 into parts for some reason, each part will have it's own post. @queen-cobra now you can stop RUSHING ME (jkjk)
