Ever since the movie, I’ve been thinking about the turtles’ power levels. They aren’t totally op since they don’t easily beat their enemies with their powers, but there isn’t a clear limit or downside to them, it seems like they are limitless. This didn’t bother me in the S2 finale because I assumed that it was the end of the series and the writers didn’t have the time to develop the ninpo. Though, I would’ve liked if the movie incorporated the limit at least(maybe with a throwaway line).

I also wish the movie didn’t take place so far from the finale. A time skip was fine but it should’ve been at least 6 months-1 year so there isn’t a big chunk of development we would miss.

If I could add the limit, it would be the amount of power use would be based on the turtles’ individual stamina and how spiritually connected they are.

P.S: training started as early as five (if the kid made it that long) this is cuz, even if they never made it to the frontlines ( if they got older they were allowed to specialised elsewhere like mechanic work, physical trauma care, full on wilderness training to be a scout etc etc. not everyone was a soldier ) first aid, wilderness, combat skills were essential for obvious reasons.

Of course it first started out as very kid friendly games like ninja hide and seek and what not. Basically, think of their training as their version of our education. Also I didn’t include this but all the kids were taught to read and write as part of that training. Literacy is importance guys!

I know it hasn’t been too long but Cj is getting to a point where he’s losing his temper ( I can’t hold back the classic Jones rage any longer without making him Ooc 🥲,that and unfortunately at this particular point of the this au Cj is way to freshly traumatised, full of rage (and conditioned by the apocalypse to not result to extreme measures esp in a combat setting) to regulate himself so eh.. things can get dark pretty quickly if this keeps going and I don’t wanna go there, and tbh I’m just.. really really tired. This is rlly fun and thank you for reachin out to me but welp.. I just don’t have enough of spoons to juggle this and everything else. So uh yeh..I’m Sorry bud 😅 I can squeeze out at least one more part if you need me too but man I am reaching my limit😂😅

Ok so, refreshing and expanding on this original post: Once again I made Casey a healer cuz of his expressive and kind personality. plus how he was raised by the Hamatos meaning he defo inherited the classic Hamato brand of overprotectiveness towards family(esp cuz everyone kept dying :’)). It gave me the impression that deep down; despite his obvious feistiness what Casey truly wants is for his family to stay alive and safe, esp in the apocalypse.

BUT aside form emotional reasons, there is a practical aspect to all this (that I wanted to focus on) that someone can only have because they grew up in such a brutal environment. And it is this, Cj has healing powers because time and time again he has seen even the strongest people die not directly from the Kraang but from the aftermath of injuries and various illnesses.

He is intimately of the fragile nature of a flesh and bone body and the many ways it can fail. It’s how be lost his mom, it’s how he lost uncle Tello and he’s pretty sure it’s how they lost Master Raphael. In the end, the biggest enemy wasn’t the Kraang but the fact that the resistance lacked the resources to heal and maintain able bodies that could fight/work to produce resource etc etc. what good is being a good fighter If we’re all going to bleed out the same? So what to do?

Welp, Like any Casey would, he saw a gap. And where they lacked equipment or proper medicine, he was determined to fill it in whatever way he could. Subconsciously or not.

Which brings me to the secondary ability, this death power isn't cuz life/ death are like two sides of the same coin (tho ngl the theme worked out so well esp with his mask kidna looking like a skull). Much like his healing powers it’s deeply rooted in his upbringing in an apocalypse. dragging out fights in the apocalypse is fatal. Time and time again he has seen even the best fighters (his family included) die either in action or seeing them die or almost die due to sustained injuries becuz a fight was dragged out for too long and they just got more injuried.

Efficiency (aka finishing a fight fast) is key to survival and what can end a fight faster than literally draining opponents of life? It’s an insta-kill in the right circumstances. Bro is not here to play around. He is here to survive. And in a brutal environment like an invasion style-apocalypse?90% of the time if you’re forced to fight it’s means only one of you is coming out alive. Casey knows this. It’s an understanding that’s etched into his very soul. But hey, the good news is that this absorption of energy can help balance out/reduce the strain that comes from giving too much of himself away cuz the healing.

Of course like the healing (too much giving away can literally turn him into a dried up corpse or ya know, the cursed accelerated aging) this power has limitations. One, is that obviously enemies aren't going to be dumb and just stay in the very bright very obviously glowy field. So they’re gonna do everything they can to leave and he’s gonna have to fight to keep them in.

Second, if his opponent is drastically stronger/heavier than him physically and mystically. It means they have more energy than he can realistically hold (it’s like trying to scoop up the ocean with a cup, it’s gonna overflow) this means if he ever tries to drain them fully dry, the energy which then gets converted to mystic energy will eventually overload and leak out from whenever it’s safely stored and eat away at his body and kill him instantly (tho that depends on how bad the leakage is not all leakage is instantly fatal). Which is why no, Case can’t single handedly take on the Kraang/OP opponents, physical limitations aside, he’ll die from the mystic overload before he ever makes it close to draining them dry. That is, if they don’t beat him to a pulp first 😅

Also on another note hehe that there is also a fun little passive ability built into both the healing and the draining/decay which I can’t quite get into here cuz it’ll be spoilers for a certain comic I’m working on. But I will say this, this passive ability is smth that makes both active powers quite.. unpleasant especially when things go wrong. So hey be on the look out for that 😜 But welp that’s the price you pay for organic energy manipulation 😂

Edit: For anyone wondering Casey unlocked his Ninpo and started training when he was 10. This made him 14 when the decay thing kicked in. For this Au, The movie takes place a few months (or weeks or heck maybe a few days after he turned 15, I’m still working out the timeline) before he turned 15. So not alot of time to train AND plus the mental block from the passive ability it’s why the decay thing doesn’t ever show up in the movie. Overall there was a high chance his inexperience/apprehension (you gotta rmb he spent 5 years strongly associated as the healer kid, the sudden switch and what it said about parts of himself he’d rather not address rlly shook him and everyone around him up) could lead to him accidentally taking from the P!Hamato fam and seeing as I established how this decay can be an insta-kill in the right circumstances. Casey doesn’t want to risk it.

*Laughs Maniacally * y’all thought me making Cj 15 and getting rid of his beard when I draw him in the present was a personal preference and that I was gonna ignore his canon much physically older appearance. BUT ALAS YOU WERE WRONG YOU FOOLS BAHAHAHA

On another note it does make sense that Cj would eventually overuse his Ninpo. He has HEALING powers in an APOCALYPSE. Try as the future!Hamato fam might try to protect him, he is too valuable to not use. And everyone knows it. Plus this is Cj, his self-sacrificial and protective nature towards family that is par the course as a Hamato wouldn’t let him stop even if it severely freaks him out.

Dynamics: Part 2, <Next!>

For Apocalypse F! Mikey: Now see Uncle Tello content is great and I love it. But consider this, it’s alr everywhere AND think bout Master Michelangelo /Uncle Mi/ lowkey unspoken Dad!Mikey supremacy ✨👀 think bout uncle Mi being the warm/comforting/ steadying presence that Cj clung to when Leo and April are stuck being the sole two pillars of leadership for the entirely of sentient life on earth and Donnie is off doing his mad scientist things(No hate to D but we know our boi has low empathy and tends to get hyper fixated to the point he ignores everyone. Not that he wouldn’t absolutely try for Junior cuz he would but ya know what I mean) which leaves the Mikey cuz our poor Raphie and Casey Sr died early.

Like Cmon guys hear me out Mike alr has Dr feelings and his ole mediator shtick. you can’t tell me that as he grew and matured it didn’t not grew stronger. Plus he defo Leaned into the whole mediator thing esp with the apocalypse cuz someone defo needed to be the calm mediator in the chaos that was the kraang. Plus he was ALR the most mentally/emotionally stable out of all the fam and a child in a chaotic environment (cough the apocalypse cough) is gonna unconsciously gravitate towards that. And mikey being mikey is then absolutely gonna white knuckle his “I’m emotionally healthy” even more cuz we got a kid now. We gotta make sure he grows up with SMTH.

Plus I like to think everyone had diff roles in raising Cj. Eg: Cj spends time with tello if he wants to hang out and blow shit up or wants to brainstorm tangible solutions. but if he needs/wants emotional support or emotional safety he goes to Mikey and if he wants all of the above plus advice in general it’s Leo and Comander April lmao (but 7/10 times it’s Leo). Side note: Before Raph died he and mikey used to tag team M’s role and April’s role was formerly Cassandra’s but welp we all know what happened 😭. Also I just wanna make it clear that these roles weren’t always hard and fast rule. It’s just generally the common status quo but was still subject to change depending on the circumstances cuz ppl are ppl and ppl are complex. Like if Cj was feeling particularly scared for Dee or April’s mortality I can guarantee he glomped them. And they let him.

Edit: In any case, their dynamic is basically all round calm, slow and cozy vibes. Cuz like I said, Mikey was acting as Cj’s living sentient equivalent of a warm, weighted blanket. Plus mystic overuse/cursed aging gave Mikey a lot of chronic fatigue and plus Mi leaning hard into the whole mediator thing rlly made him mellow out esp when he had to be responsible for a kid. So most of their hanging out was either sitting around talking about their day, making up stories bout random objects they found like ‘I bet that cup has a chip in cuz an alligator got it’ ,Cj ranting, mystic training, lots and lots of snuggles or (big shocker I know) Mikey reading to Cj (don’t Judge Cj, he finds Uncle’s Mi voice calming. And as tor Mikey, options are limited when you’re old, physically frail and in an apocalypse) or them reading whatever they can find in comfy silence with the occasional comment of ‘man this character is so stupid’ and ‘I know right!’ Or ‘im pretty sure this accident report is faked.’ Also In the earlier days when resources weren’t so scarce and Mikey had more energy they used to draw on the walls tgt using chalk but well.. stuff like that don’t last very long in the apocalypse.

For Past/present time: Once Cj starts to properly distinguish between future and present and feels a little more ready to start properly interacting with P!fam. He starts to build a stable relationship with Mikey. their dynamic is one of more equal standing cuz of the lack of age difference aka the big theme for this dynamic is all abt growing up tgt. This creates a more free and unrestrained dynamic where both feel more encouraged/safe to try new things cuz they don’t have to worry bout any hovering from any older siblings (sorry Leo he tries but even he can’t fully escape the big brother instincts even towards Case. Which is hilarious cuz Cj is the most self sufficient out of everyone XD ) and cuz they don’t have to worry bout looking stupid in front said older siblings if they fail/ being coddled if they fail. Initially it was a very big whiplash for Casey to adjust to the fact that someone he used to look for answers/ be a pillar was just as clueless as he was AND the fact he could freely argue back with said someone due to the lack of age difference.

But once both parties settled in, they have alot of fun just being kids and messing around. Honestly their dynamic is adorable. With Mikey’s more adventurous and more hopeful personality helping Cj start to relax a little more and start acting more like the 15 year old he is. And Cj’s more serious and sensible mindset helps Mikey become a little more thoughtful/cautious as he’s more open to Cj’s criticism cuz it feels alot less condescending than the rest of the fam due to the age similarity.

This dynamic also plays a part in Cj’s adjustment to the past. Due to said adventurous behaviour, Mike always wants to show Cj new things. And his emotionally intuitive nature helps him pick up when Cj is uncomfortable but doesn’t always feel comfortable saying it or can just generally quickly pick up the warning signs of a trigger. So after some trial and error Mikey gets pretty good at knowing when to push and pull Case out of his comfort zone or just out right cancel an outing cuz Dr feelings can sense the ensuing panic attack/ PTSD triggers. Which Casey rlly appreciates. On the flip side, Cj is the biggest advocate (second to Leo) for letting Mikey do his thing cuz he knows what Mikey is capable off and isn’t blinded with older sibling instincts. Which Mikey greatly appreciates. We stan mutually supportive siblings.

And as the youngest, they both bond (mostly Miguel talks, Cj listens oh how the tables turn) over how frustrating it is to see the rest of their family (for Cj it’s him using his experience with F!Fam to relate to P!Mikey cuz the P!Fam don’t rlly baby Casey the same way/the obvious extent they do for Miguel. For Mikey, it’s more they water down info either intentionally/unintentionally or try to stop him from doing stuff cuz they want to protect him. And for Cj, it’s more them trying to be extra subtly careful of his sore spots. Like Legit cuz of Cj, everyone at some point had independently googled ‘how to care for war-torn ptsd riddled relative’ and ‘how to help someone with material insecurity issues’ or ‘how to support someone going thru bereavement’. For once it wasn’t only Mike reading psych stuff lmao) trying to water things down for them like dums dums XD.

They also tag team the rest of their family with the combined powers of their puppy dog eyes and shared status as “baby’s of the family” to get out of trouble/get what they want like the gremlins they are 😂. Generally when hanging out they’re either doing things action driven stuff (a stark contrast to F!Mikey and Cj. Cuz P!Mikey is younger, less traumatised and hasn’t been peepawed) like graffiti (Mikey sprays full on masterpieces and Cj loves spraying colourful doodles cuz he’s delighted to play with all sorts of bright colours and see the pretty art Anglo makes that Cj didn’t have the luxuary of seeing in the apocalypse, so despite the huge skill gap, which is rapidly becoming smaller, they still have fun tgt), skateboarding, playing video games, parkour or Mikey kidnapping Cj to show/get him to try smth he didn’t get to do in the apocalypse, *cough the occasional arson cough* Like I said they’re awesome lmao

On a side note: both Cj and Mikey are very happy to have a cool brother/friend who is the same age as them. For Cj it’s cuz fellow kids were very rare back in his time. Meaning the kids that were round him were either much older or much younger so same age friends is very much a novel experience lmao. As for Mikey, although he does call Cj baby brother( he doesn’t actually enforce that unless in certain situations like Cj in distress or trying to get Cj to do Miguel’s part of chores lmao) most of the time he’s happy to not be alone in his age grp of family/friends cuz it can get a little lonely sometimes. Raph, April and Casey have each other, Donnie and Leo have each other and now Mikey and Cj have each other! Yaayyy

No but for real? I gave April Force Manipulation cuz it seems closest to what she can do in canon. Eg: the way her Bat kept rebounding around and off Shredder during the season 2 finale.

So Force Manipulation it is! Also Ngl I like to think that at her peak April was capable of redirecting multiple incoming/falling projectile’s without ever having to coming into direct physical contact. Cuz she got good at extending the range of her control. ie: Her future self.

Oh hey look I’m making a comic! Ngl not entirely happy with this but welp that’s what practice is for XD

*GASP a double update?? I swear I had more story driven/lore things planned but this grabbed ahold of my brain and wouldn’t let go. So Friendly reminder that Junior is most definitely a gremlin. Cuz you can’t convince me that Mr “I was raised by the Hamatos, O’Neil and by one very feral Casey senior” did not come out of it the slightest bit unhinged. It’s just a little.. subdued rn. But mark my words once he gets settled in.. hehe the P!Hamato fam are in danger. LET MY BOI CAUSE CHAOS, he makes doctor delicate touch proud XD

Timeline wise this takes place much further down the line (maybe a year or 6-8 months after the invasion??) where Cj feels more settled in with the P!Fam/ is no longer constantly bogged down by grief/survivors guilt/ feeling that he betraying the older part of his family by loving and feeling settled with the P!Fam(not that he doesn’t still feel it but ya get what I mean, he has more good days than bad days). Hence his more jovial (chaotic) behaviour and his Ninpo being back.

Things were getting too wholesome, TIME TO PANIC-

Idk where this is in the timeline but it definitely takes place a few days/a week after this.

So ngl the reason I made Casey a healer is cuz of his expressive and kind personality plus how he was raised by the Hamatos meaning he defo inherited the classic Hamato brand of overprotectiveness towards family(esp cuz everyone kept dying :’)). And since the Ninpo does seem to represent the inner desire of the wielders what better way, to accomplish that then healing powers? Field wise I like to think that made Casey an invaluable field medic cuz not only was he strong/skilled (cuz let’s be honest look at bro with his grappling gun boi had skillz also being trained by Leonardo ‘Mr president of the apocalypse’ Hamato defo gave him a massive leg up) enough to run into front lines and carry/ drag injured away by himself if need be, bro could also heal magically and perform first aid (if we rlly wanna lean into sensei-student dynamic and the team medic Leo hc) .

Post-movie I think his Ninpo would get clogged up, ( he can still feel it but he can’t use it which oh boi would be such a land mine for panic attack material, imagine losing the one of the few concrete things that shows him he did belong and had a family) cuz he feels isolated and not connected to the past!fam for obvious and understandable reasons but gets it back once he starts feeling like he is part of the present! Hamato fam and possibly significantly less bogged down by survivors guilt. Which btw would be such a wholesome moment I might actually make a comic out of it no promises tho.
