I Love It! Yoda And Sidious As Dooku's Feuding Co-parents Who Hate Each Other 😂

I love it! Yoda and Sidious as Dooku's feuding co-parents who hate each other 😂

Realising that, from a certain point of view:

Ventress is Anakin's lineage great-aunt, but he's also her lineage uncle.

Anakin is both Sidious' apprentice and his great-great-grand-apprentice. Or step-great-great-grand-apprentice?

Dooku is both Anakin's great-grandmaster and his lineage brother.

Savage is Dooku's apprentice and his lineage nephew.

Savage is both Anakin's lineage nephew and his lineage great-uncle.

Ventress is both Yoda's and Sidious' grand-apprentice.

Luke is Ahsoka's adoptive nephew, and her lineage uncle, and her lineage great-great-great uncle?

Luke is also Dooku's lineage brother.

And Ventress' lineage uncle.

Anakin is Luke's father, his lineage brother (sort of in two ways?), and his lineage great-great-nephew. Oh, and his lineage great-great uncle, in a way (Anakin = Sith lineage brother to Dooku, who's Luke's Jedi great-grandmaster, in addition to being his Jedi lineage brother).

I think all of this makes Padmé pretty much everybody's in-law???

And it might require a bit of a stretch, but I'm pretty sure there are also multiple ways for Maul to be Obi-Wan's lineage relative?

hey so fun question, Vibe wise, Palpatine is dealing with a rebellion that is actually Wildly more competent/coherent out of the gate in a way? Ignoring just Anakin/Vader Power aand skill as a warrior, the fact that in sheer military experience Vader blew literally everyone else left out of the water did so much heavy lifting at first when folks are scrambling for years. reason why I enjoyed such things as them stealing Venerators and Super Charging them up because they KNOW their needs.

Yeah, I'd say he is! In this AU, we've got Padmé alive and working behind the scenes during the first couple of years of the rebellion, which was probably a major contributor in and of itself. She has a political motivation to take back the galaxy from an autocratic Emperor, but she also has a very personal motivation to take down Palpatine. So, she would have really pushed for things to get done, for alliances to be made and intelligence networks to developed. Add to that, then, the fact that she and Obi-Wan were both staying with the Larses, so she was able to pull him into the rebellion effort; there was probably a whole bunch of strategic input that came out of that collaboration, e.g. things like the Venator retrofitting program, and a more organized approach to the whole rebellion thing in general, especially with regard to the military angle. Meanwhile, Rex and Ahsoka's work regarding finding/dechipping/helping/recruiting clones post-Order 66 would have helped with strategy and organization as well, taking advantage of the clones' years of military training and wartime experience.

The Empire still has far more resources, in terms of money, ships, weapons, and recruits/conscripts, but the Rebellion in this AU does have a pretty solid foundation when it comes to experience and tactics, and they're able to use their personnel's experience and ingenuity to adapt and make the most out of their limited resources. They still have to be careful—they can't just take on the Empire in all-out war at this point—but they're in a much better position overall, with a unified movement already underway, instead of a scattering of independent rebel cells.

This is probably a terrible idea, but my inner demon of mischief wants to get on GPT-4 or some other AI chatbot and try to convince it that it's HK-47.

One of the fun things about writing is how, sometimes, you accidentally write things a certain way, and then, weeks later, you realise that what you wrote actually has significance to the story, and it adds a cool little detail to some aspect of the plot or characterisation.

In Fortune's Rule, I've written Starkiller bowing in the presence of his master. Just today, though, I realised that the more proper Sith thing would be to kneel. The true explanation for the bowing instead, of course, is that it was entirely unintentional and in fact carries absolutely no meaning whatsoever. I was a little sloppy and didn't think things through sufficiently.

However, in-world, it looks like some sort of choice on Vader's part. He taught his apprentice to bow (more a Jedi thing, I think?), rather than kneel (a Sith thing, and more subservient). Perhaps Vader's Anakin is showing a little bit, in not wanting to make Starkiller demonstrate the extreme subservience that a Sith master usually expects from their apprentice (i.e. that Sidious expects from him). At the same time, I think it also fits with Vader's character. He's a military leader, not a political one like Sidious, and as such probably prioritizes utility over ceremony. There's no need to bother with the whole kneeling thing, when a bow will do.

I love things like this, because they show how, for all that a lot of planning and intentional symbolism may go into writing, sometimes what the reader sees as significant is just a surprisingly functional mistake. (And it also makes me wonder how much of the stuff we analyzed in high school lit classes was intentional, and how much was coincidental.)

Characters keep getting ideas and running with them.

So, uh, Piett and Starkiller... yeah, this was definitely not the plan when I first decided to include those characters in Fortune's Rule. (Heck, they weren't originally supposed to be in the fic at all, but then neither was at least half of the story that's happened thus far, so....)

They were supposed to have pretty separate parts in the story, and they were both going to be much more minor than they're turning out. Until Piett apparently decided Starkiller needs a friend. And he's definitely not wrong, so who am I to say no?

The unfortunate thing here is that now I'm going to have to figure out how the heck Vader is going to deal with the news that his admiral and his apprentice are in cahoots behind his back.

*looks sternly at characters*

Do you see how much extra work you are making for me? Now, behave!

(This seems to have become a recurring theme in the writing of this story. Ahsoka and Padmé weren't originally going to have as close a relationship as they do, but then they decided to take the reins for just one chapter, and look how that turned out.)

Just had a question pop up in my mind .. if padme steals Vader’s tie fighter…curious how she’s going to get back to base without getting shot down by the rebels. …☠️😁

Plus having a funny image of Vader calling Revanant and having his holographic image pop up on her dashboard while she’s flying away in his ship. ☠️😁☠️

Looking forward to your next chapter in the near future! And thx as always for your time and dedication 🙏

Oh boy, I'm now imagining Padmé calling Mon and being like, "Hey... so... a thing happened, and I need you to tell everyone not to panic when a TIE shows up over Yavin," and Mon just wondering in what outlandish scenario stealing one of the few hyperspace-capable TIEs became the preferred way home.

Lol! That would certainly make for some distracted flying on her part. This isn't the route I'm actually taking, but it would be kind of funny if he only caught up with her because she got pulled over in Kafrene realspace for reckless flying brought on by his distracting holo.

I'm hoping to get the next chapter out by Sunday night!

Just one more proof that Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano are 100% siblings--

Anakin to Ahsoka: I would never let anyone hurt you, Ahsoka. Vader to Ahsoka: Then you will die.

Ultimate sibling dynamic right there, just a more extreme take on the old nobody gets to hurt my sibling but me!

I'm back to playing through KotOR 2. This is based on a conversation between @for-the-love-of-starwars and I, where she suggested I draw Kreia with a mug saying "#1 bad space mom." I ended up shortening it to "No. 1 Worst Mom."

I see Kreia's relationship with Revan as something of an emotionally abusive parental figure who also can't understand why her successful, adult child wants nothing to do with her.

This is so cool!! A library is talking about fanfic on their website! Not only that, but they're publicly promoting both reading and writing fanfic! And they actually include links to fandoms on AO3 and FFN!

This has officially made my day.

Star Wars science questions

A couple of questions that my biology major brain won't let go of this morning:

Okay, so I hate the midichlorian explanation and generally try to forget about it, but... if we say that midichlorians do exist, then... they're living organisms in one's bloodstream, yes? So, is there ever something akin to an autoimmune disorder, where the immune system tries to destroy the midichlorians? A person could theoretically lose Force sensitivity.

Force suppressants. How do they work? Are there drugs which target different pathways, or just one drug with a specific target? Do they have side effects? Have they been tested for toxicity? Is it known they are non-carcinogenic? How the heck would you carry out drug testing? Ask a group of Force sensitives if they'd be willing to test the efficacy of this thing that would take away their power—oh, that'll work real well.

Are there therapeutic applications for Force suppressants? Like, what if darksiders were put on suppressants? If it cuts off their connection to the Force, couldn't that, probably mixed with psychological/psychiatric interventions, provide a way to help them sort of reset and step away from the dark side? (And yeah, that's an ethical kettle of fish, right there. Drugging of individuals without consent, but considering that said individuals could be incredibly damaging to the galactic population if left untreated....)

Are there changes in midichlorian gene expression/physiology following dark side use? Are there drugs which could be used to reverse these effects, and would that in turn have any effect on the state of the Force user?

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Cool sw science questions to share?

A hodgepodge of things relating to Fortune's Rule, my Star Wars fix-it fic: behind-the-scenes-type writing stuff, maybe some sneak-peekish bits, art that may or may not make it into the story, and thoughts and questions about the SW universe.  Plus, probably, some memes and other random stuff as well!
