It's honestly really sad to see what Pixar has to say about the possibility of queer characters or themes in Luca. Of course they never say anything especially problematic (Mickey Rat has got to keep making that pride merch money), but it hurts to see it directly dismissed. That there is nothing relating romance at all and it's just about "misfits".

Seeing companies like Disney control animation is depressing when it feels like minorities will always be sidelined so they can be edited out overseas. I want stories that acknowledge my existence, even in subtle ways, instead of being a dirty secret that fans gather crumbs online to prove.

This isn't to say that I still don't love the queer themes in Luca, or that the director's intention for the film isn't valid. I just want more.

Some “Class 1-A family dorm life” headcanons!

Kirishima is the designated spider killer, except he doesn’t kill them, he takes them outside. If someone freaks out they might bite him, he just hardens his hands and grins reassuringly.

If someone screams “KAMINARI” in a tone of pure panic, everyone else knows that the person’s laptop or phone is about to die and they haven’t saved their work. Kaminari will vault couches to get to them. It’s probably the most heroic he gets to be on a semi daily basis.

Bakugou and Satou are teeth cleaning fiends. They always scold or remind their classmates to brush.

It’s second nature for everyone to remove drinks or breakable objects from around Iida when he gets into talking. They don’t even notice anymore.

If Shouji isn’t around, Ochako is the second person they go to for getting things down from tall places because she can just float to it.

One time Ochako, Iida, Izuku and Todoroki were all out shopping, and Ochako found a great deal (like, great deal) on some kind of frozen food. But it was so warm out that she was worried it would thaw before they got back. Cue a puzzled (but totally fine with it) Todoroki keeping it cold on their way back to the dorms.

Bakugou has a little spot in the kitchen reserved for his hot sauces. Someone (read: everyone) keeps adding new kinds to it when he’s not looking. He’s secretly pleased even if he’s pissed he can’t seem to catch anyone in the act.

Another thing that gets me is how they use the growing visibility and acceptance of queer people as the most obvious sign of the world's depravity. Even though, they have no reason to get so upset besides "the bible says it's bad in our outdated translations". Other things like sleeping together outside of marriage should be a similar sin within their rules, but it doesn't hold the same disgust to them. Regardless of what they say, they're obvious bigots.

So when they tried to fearmonger by saying that "they let middle schoolers twist morality with GSA" it wasn't surprising, but I wanted to fucking scream.

Meetings really only exist to encourage my deconversion at this point. I don't know how saying that "feminism making women think they should be fully equal in the marriage is damaging" will make me, an afab person, agree that God knows best lol.
