Elise Is A Child Despite Having Existed For Decades Because She Looks Like A Child, Thinks Like A Child

Elise is a child despite having existed for decades because she looks like a child, thinks like a child and acts like a child.

Sigma is an adult despite having existed for three years because he looks like an adult, thinks like an adult and acts like an adult

People talk a lot about how they hope Akutagawas vampirism will heal him of his lung disease, but I really hope it doesn't. Curing Akutagawas illness this way would feel incredibly cheap, and I'd be highly disappointed. Especially after this

People Talk A Lot About How They Hope Akutagawas Vampirism Will Heal Him Of His Lung Disease, But I Really
People Talk A Lot About How They Hope Akutagawas Vampirism Will Heal Him Of His Lung Disease, But I Really

This moment is not only impactful because Akutagawa confesses his illness (something he views as a weakness) it was the first time Atsushi saw humanity in Akutagawa it was also setting up stakes for Akutagawas character i feel like throwing that all away with a magical vampirism cure would be one of the worst things for his arc

maybe i’m too much of a staunch “atsushi is kind of a dick” purist but i actually don’t think him witnessing dazai’s abuse will actually change all that much in terms of the direct relationships between these characters and how they act towards each other.

part of it is i think sskk’s ultimate arc is moving past the spectre of dazai haunting them, and part of it is like. akutagawa is (was..?) an abuser too. it would make no sense for atsushi to flip on dazai for akutagawa because it’s either he believes redemption is real and dazai has changed (which like, he objectively has, regardless of whether he handled his relationship with akutagawa well) and akutagawa can change too, or abuse forever tarnishes your moral character and then atsushi must hate both these guys (which he clearly doesn’t).

ultimately bsd has a complex relationship with abuse that’s often uncomfortable to acknowledge, like the fact that akutagawa has abused two women on screen and hasn’t actually made proper amends either, and the fact that bsd both acknowledges that the mafia is a cruel organisation based in child abuse and exploitation that largely operates by grooming children into violence, and also posits that the mafia is kind of a necessary entity for the safety of the city. child abuse in bsd is interpersonal, yes, but it’s also a larger system of exploitation of ability users, largely for combat, and practically every character participates in that system to a degree.

even the agency has child members, and while for some it can be argued that the agency saved them from bad situations, kenji, for example, seemingly lived a normal peaceful life until he was recruited to be a child soldier.

ultimately i don’t think the wish fulfilment scene where atsushi explicitly rags on dazai for treating akutagawa badly will ever happen, especially considering this isn’t news for him and atsushi hasn’t been sympathetic to akutagawa about it before. i’m not saying it’s not going to be called out, but i don’t think the #dazaiisoverparty is happening guys hold your horses

You know how I know Shanks is toxic with a capital T? Because as soon as bro pulls up to where his exes are at:

You Know How I Know Shanks Is Toxic With A Capital T? Because As Soon As Bro Pulls Up To Where His Exes

One of them IMMEDIATELY leaves as soon as he sees his face. You could not threaten him enough to breathe the same air as that homeless looking man. 😭

You Know How I Know Shanks Is Toxic With A Capital T? Because As Soon As Bro Pulls Up To Where His Exes

Meanwhile, the other is more upset by him pulling up than he is by all the other traumatic events he just went through in a literal WAR. Buggy doesn't have post traumatic stress disorder, he has post traumatic Shanks disorder. 💀

You Know How I Know Shanks Is Toxic With A Capital T? Because As Soon As Bro Pulls Up To Where His Exes

If cellphones were a thing in the One Piece universe they would both have Shanks' number saved as "do not answer" & I just wanna know exactly what put him in that position.

Lucy should get to have a crush on Yosano, as a treat.

She's her favourite customer at the cafe. At first she was too shy to directly talk to Yosano about anything other than her order and couldn't make eye contact without going completely red.

Yosano is one of the prettiest women Lucy has ever seen, smart and confident, she admires the way Yosano walks into any room and looks like she belongs there. Lucy would find herself idly watching Yosano's hands, they're always so well manicured and look like they'd be so soft to hold. The hands of a doctor, they move with skilled purpose, even when just holding her coffee cup.

It was Yosano who started talking to Lucy first. Just casual topics, "Has it been busy today?" type of thing and Lucy nearly fell over herself to answer at first, but it quickly became easier to talk to Yosano. She has such an inviting smile and her laughter is like music to Lucy. Even when Yosano is complaining about her work load, Lucy can't help but be enthralled.

Yosano starts coming in to the cafe more regularly, taking her lunch breaks down there, or stopping in after work. She always sits near Lucy and waits to be served by her. Lucy has her order memorized so they get to talking immediately.

Yosano has invited Lucy out, she suggests they should go shopping together and get lunch out sometime, that way Lucy doesn't have to be distracted by her work whilst they talk. She wants to take Lucy sightseeing, show her more of Yokohama and build up her confidence about living in a new city.

Lucy can't help but feel like half the places Yosano suggests are dating spots, but that must be her imagination. Surely. The compliments Yosano pays her and the way Lucy's also caught Yosano watching her when she thinks she's not looking, must be a coincidence.

Okay, so Chuuya needs reading glasses but he decided to switch to contacts sometime after SB and usually only uses his glasses at home. Which is fine and works out great.

Except Chuuya needed to wear the vampire contacts at Meursault. And he didn’t bring glasses with him out of habit. He can’t read anything.

The red contacts already made it hard to see in general but he can’t read anything while wearing them (the only consolation he had was that he also couldn’t see Fyodor’s smug face when he thought he controlled him). Then afterward he’s shoving his face close to his phone and squinting to try to see if he’s gotten any news about Yokohama while trying to also text anyone he can to speed up their extraction.

Dazai, trying to hack computers to contact Ango: You know you can make the print bigger so it’s easier to read, right?

Chuuya, also a total grandpa when it comes to phones: I can what?

You know, after Wano and Egghead where little girls were charging into battle against brutal pirates and demonic entities left and right and to a lesser extent Zou where even the baby minks were throwing paws with the Beast Pirates during Jack's invasion, you almost forget "oh yeah, no sane adult would let kids get involved in fights like this"

You Know, After Wano And Egghead Where Little Girls Were Charging Into Battle Against Brutal Pirates

A century ago, the giants of Elbaf would probably be a little more open to letting Colon participate in the battle but that's definitely not happening now in their pacifist era.

Although the giant's wording is a bit interesting because he could also be inferring that Colon specifically is not suited for the battlefield. The kid's got plenty of fighting spirit, yes, but like most children he probably has very little idea of what the true gravity of going into battle actually means. He's treating it like a game, calling dibs on being the captain and making up his own pirate crew.

You Know, After Wano And Egghead Where Little Girls Were Charging Into Battle Against Brutal Pirates

Up until now, Colon has probably viewed violence and warfare as something fun. Something you rush into without thinking because a sword swipe solves everything. His only experience with combat is likely from Ripley and Gaban training him. He's never fought against killer nightmare monsters or anyone who truly wants him dead. He's never seen the people he loves put in danger like what's likely going to happen to his parents if Sommers decides to play his little thorn game with Colon as the pawn. Colon is made to be a foil to young Luffy and Luffy eventually saw firsthand just how bloody and spine-chilling and complicated the world of piracy can be.

Now that being said, the end goal of Elbaf's narrative is blatantly leaning in favor of the giants not giving up their warrior ways, but what I think may be happening is something of an hourglass plot between Colon and his extreme pacifist classmates.

You Know, After Wano And Egghead Where Little Girls Were Charging Into Battle Against Brutal Pirates

While the other giant kids will likely take more pride in their warrior heritage as they learn the importance of defending yourself, Colon is going to come to the realization that battle is not something you take lightly and that there's nothing wrong with striving towards a peaceful life. Not that Colon will give up his dreams of being a pirate warrior altogether, he's clearly got his heart set on that. But he'll come out of this experience a more level-headed kid with a greater understanding as to why the adults in his life are so protective.

I also think no matter what happens Usopp is going to be the one who inspires both Colon and the Walrus School kids to be brave because inspiring children with heroic feats is kind of Usopp's bread and butter.
