Mark Francis at the Kerlin
This evening, I attended the opening of Mark Francis' exhibition 'Accustic Oceans' at the Ketlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2. The venue was packed with a lively atmosphere. There was plenty of chat.
The colours in Mark's paintings shimmered against each other. These compositions were created with vertical narrow stripes in pale and dark colours. I liked his red and black paintings such as 'Subtonic' and 'Dubmagnet'. They appeared, to my eye, extra rich and warm.
Mark's exhibition will run until 24th Aug 2024. It was well worth going.

Last night, I attended the opening of Catherine Owens’ exhibition ‘6 am’ at the Oliver Sears Gallery, 29 Molesworth St, Dub 2. The gallery was packed. Everyone there was very friendly. It was a treat to view work that looked a bit different. The curtains and LED lights added to the effect of seeing something new. Catherine’s show will run until 31st July 2018. Classy.Â
I've just attended the opening of Margo Banks' exhibition at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 called 'Crow Voice, Fox Voice....Wolf Voice'. Margo has a lovely way of painting animals and all her paintings were full of life. Her opening was well attended. The poet, Jessica Traynor read a poem and Daniel Soro, the guitarist played some live music. Margo's exhibition will run until 22nd July 2023.

Last night, I attended the opening of Briget Beemster's exhibition at Gallery Zozimus, 57 Frances Street, Dublin 8 D08 RX8V. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the venue was welcoming.
Much time and effort had gone into the design and execution of each of Brigit's pieces. Her exhibition features sculptural scenes including figures, trees, cabinets and an airplane. My favourite piece was the cow because it was the most minimalist. Brigit's exhibition will continue until the 1st April 2023.
There are many other paintings and sculptures on show at Gallery Zozimus. This gallery shares a space with Niall Mullin Antiques.

Just back from seeing the group show 'Cahoots' which opened tonight at In-spire Galerie, 56 Lwr Gardener St., Dub 1. The opening was packed with a pleasant atmosphere and good music. A wide range of beautiful work presented by 3rd Year painting students of the National College of Art and Design.

I attended the opening of John Short's exhibition 'Horizons' at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 tonight. The venue was packed.
I enjoyed viewing John's loose and spontaneous paintwork. He painted his paintings with watercolours and ink while including collage in some of them. My favourite paintings were wide and panoramic.
He had included four large ceramic pieces in his exhition. It was nice to see that he was trying a new medium to work in.
