idk if there's like a good anwser to this or not but
i always wondered why the solution for my dysphoria was hormones and surgery because the solution for my eating disorder isn't to just lose weight, the solution to my anxiety isn't to isolate myself, the solution for my ocd isn't to give into every compulsion, so why is the only solution for my dysphoria giving into it and letting it control my life?
New tin foil hat theory: the rise and propagation of minimalist home decor is meant to manage expectations for a desired culture of renters.
Every time I shave my legs I imagine how many radfems are having panic attacks over it.
the answer is 0 because you are not on the truman show
nobody will ever convince me the act of getting purely cosmetic surgeries- especially life threatening ones, is more empowering than coming to terms with your body. you don’t have to love your body. you don’t even have to like it. getting cosmetic procedures will only make you hate all the other things you don’t like about yourself even more. your body was not made to be “attractive”. and let me clarify, none of this blame is to be based on women in the big picture. yes- women have undeniably contributed to the normalization of these invasive and dangerous surgeries, this wouldn’t even be an issue if men didn’t think the entire existence of a woman is to cater to them.
men are like, nooo don’t recognize that you have similar struggles to all kinds of women, you’re so easy to manipulate when ur isolated aha
Keep on running up that hill, ladies.
I am sick of people sugar coating the education crisis of American Adults. It is killing us. It is killing the world. Being nice about the fact that half of adults would struggle to read harry potter is going end us up dead as a species.
I am sick of losers jumping in to defend adults who don’t read books. Adults who don’t seek out news. I don’t give a fuck about their feelings. I don’t give a fuck if this makes them feel embarrassed and ashamed. They should feel that.
The stupidity of adults are poisoning our children. They are not raising well rounded kids. This is the time to stop the drain before it’s too late.
i want to shake many young women and say you can grow in private. and what i mean by that is that you don’t have to publicly self-flagellate when you don’t know something or when you say something a little insensitive or whatever else. you don’t have to report your Bad Thoughts and Ignorance to the crowd who waits to judge you. you do not have to pay penance. you do not have to issue public statements. nothing more is gained from burying yourself in shame than you could gain by thinking “oh i don’t know about this” and looking it up real quick, or thinking “hm, that wasn’t how i want to behave, i’ll do different next time” and then moving on with your life. no need to choke yourself with it.
who are you when you are not watching tv or movies? when you aren't playing video games or reading a book or fanfiction or listening to music or whatever other kind of media that you engage with? who are you when your mind isn't in another world or story, when you are forced to sit with yourself and the only experience you have is your own sensorial life? can you define yourself outside of what you consume? who is that person? do you like them? can you bear it? can you bear it?
My mum; I don’t think she’s ever identified herself as a radical feminist, but intentionally or not she lives so many of the core tenets. She’s the one that taught me about financial independence and the importance of an education and critical thinking. She’s also a firm believer in comfy shoes and in the almost 30 years I’ve been her daughter I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen her wear makeup.
It sounds silly but seeing her without makeup makes it easier for me to let go of wearing it now. I have my dad’s colouring, but my face is so much like my mother, I’ve seen pictures of her at my age and if you changed my hair a little we could be twins. I hope it stays that way. I hope I develop laugh lines the way she did.
I want to take a break from discourse for a moment. Reblog or reply with a way a woman in your life is awesome.
I’ll go first. My mom is the most determined person I know. I’ve never seen her give up on anything and she always keeps a cool head when solving problems. She knows when to take a break and has impeccable work/life balance, but when she is working on something she is completely focused and always the most useful person in the room.
