I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that 30+ brands of nutrition drinks including but not limited to Ensure, Pediasure, Glucerna, Oatly, and Premier Protein just got recalled for possible contamination with the bacteria that causes botulism, a paralytic toxin with a lethal dose of 1.3 nanograms. If you've purchased one of the affected lot numbers please return it to the store to be properly disposed of as a biohazard but do not accept any compensatory gift cards because that can be counted as a settlement if you need to file a lawsuit for any potential damages caused by this later on. If you have any questions regarding the recall there's a phone number listed in the article above that you can call, but if you believe you may have ingested toxins then please call your local poison control hotline. So recently I’ve bee considering applying for a balance and mobility support/service dog, but I want a bit more information from people who actually have them and aren’t paid to give a good review

(It’s also alarmingly difficult to find organizations that train balance and mobility service dogs)

I understand the financial drain and the time you need to put in to make the team function properly. I understand that a service dog is considered a medical device and not a pet, but they still need love and support and breaks like all loving things should. I understand that given my allergies a poodle would be the best option but I could also push for a less common breed.

Does anyone have an info, tips or blogs to recommend?

I really want to be independent once I move out and I really think a balance and mobility support dog would be helpful.

Holy shit. I just realized something and I need to share it with the rest of the disabled community.

If you're a disabled American who can't get married because you'd lose your medical coverage, I have an option for you

Handfasting Ceremonies. These are ancient pagan marriage ceremonies (but you don't have to necessarily be a pagan to do them) that are still practiced today where a couple’s hands are bound together to represent the binding of their souls. It's an official marriage ceremony and people need to be ordained to perform them and everything, BUT they’re not considered legally binding in the United States. You can still do them, but they won’t have any legal repercussions. So, if I ever want to get married, I could just do a handfasting ceremony and be married, but not have to legally lose my health coverage. AND handfasting ceremonies are open to same sex couples too!
