It would be quite silly indeed to get too hung up on potential power imbalance between Caitlyn & Vi when the show has a solid 7-10 minute supercut's worth of Caitlyn spluttering her little token protests before immediately doing exactly whatever Vi just told her to do.
I grew up Catholic so I have a bit more context (which unfortunately doesn’t make it much better).
Mary Magdalene was commonly assumed to have been a prostitute (which isn’t biblically supported and actually wasn’t commonly believed until a while after Christianity was formed). Even after her conversion she’s shown as nude because it was common belief that she lived nude as penance and only used her long hair as clothing. She’s actually quite often shown in various forms of nudity and seductive positioning in her artistic depictions because she’s basically the scapegoat due to her position as “prostitute” or later “penitent”.
The mind naturally wants to think about sex after you go through puberty and your libido picks up, but in Catholicism you quite literally are not allowed to think about it at all because that counts as “adultery of the mind”. The only time this rule doesn’t count is if you’re condemning someone for sexual sins. This is why you see Catholics (and more conservative Christian groups who have this same rule) absolutely obsessed with constantly thinking and talking about and condemning other people for having sex they don’t like. Their mind craves some type of release for the curiosity they have so they become incredibly fixated on it in a negative fashion because it’s the way to get around that rule. This also leads them to have incredibly toxic sexual relationships after they enter marriage and are finally able to have sex because men have associated sexual arousal with a level of disgust or distaste for the woman.
(In addition, women accidentally get around this rule because we are taught to be constantly afraid of sexual assault sullying our virginity, so the mind often focuses upon that fear, eventually associating sexual arousal with the idea of being violated, which is why you see so many of them encouraging or flaunting violating relationships online.)
Going back to depictions of Mary Magdalene, since she was a prostitute she was the men of the time’s way of getting around that rule. It doesn’t count as them being lustful if they’re also condemning her actions even as it arouses them. It’s why she was one of the most common subjects of religious painting outside of the usual patriarchal figures and Mary the mother of Jesus. The really ironic thing is that there is absolutely no proof of her being a prostitute. She was actually quite rich and supported Jesus monetarily, but people liked to assume she got the money through dishonest means instead of through any type of skill or labor, or frankly even just coming from a wealthy family.
Anyway sorry for the rant lol Mary Magdalene was my birth patron saint, and I’m still very attached to her and upset by how much she’s been slandered by the church even though I haven’t been Catholic for years now. Hopefully it was interesting.

A woman: So I recently developed ovarian cancer & I could sure use someone to talk to about it
Trancels on Tumblr: Um this is kinda problematic sweetie. Trans women dont have ovaries & ur sure being cissexist when u bring them up. Bringing up the cancer u have in an organ that’s exclusive to females is transphobic & by trying to discuss a womens’ issue youre basically saying you want all trans women to DIE, so uh…
I want to kiss my girlfriend, in public, without fear. (ca. 1980)
Gyns…. I had a date and finally got kissed on the lips by a girl for the first time yesterday 🤭🤭🤭 y’all have to deal with my rant now lol
I made her a bouquet of her favorite flowers and took her to dinner at a Thai place nearby my house, and then we went to see “Sinners” afterwards (good movie btw) and ugh it was so healing and peaceful after how anxious I always felt trying to date men.
She’s so pretty too, 70s-90s vintage femme to my 70s-90s vintage butch lol. And she respects that I’m a stone top; while she didn’t previously understand the Stone/Princess dynamic before meeting me, she said it’s actually something she’d wanted but didn’t know had a name. She’s also spiritual like I am, and she’s got big 1920s pouty eyes and a nose piercing and UGH y’all I think I have a crush 😭 We’ve been talking for about 6 weeks now but she was preparing for finals at college about an hour’s drive away so we couldn’t meet up until after she got through with them and moved back home for the summer nearer to where I live.
Anyway tho we were sitting in her car waiting for my dad to pick me up after the movie, and she kept stalling even after he arrived so I figured she wanted a kiss, so I asked her, and she said yes but she wanted me to close my eyes because she was shy, so I did and she grabbed my cheek and gave me a few all one after the other and UGH I just love being a lesbian so much.
It’s also really healing to take the part of the “pursuer” in this circumstance (which obviously isn’t necessarily a thing butches or tops have to do, I just happen to be a stereotype lol) after past experiences that left me a little shaken. This time around I get to take that role and do it right, and I think I’m already doing a good enough job because she trusted me to hold her purse when she went to the restroom lol.
Idk I’m just really happy and it’s like that deep, calm happiness where everything just feels right for the first time in your life and you can just enjoy the experience.
What I would giveeeee to have a woman do this to me 😭😭😭
Love being possessive but not jealous like yeah babe you can talk to her, you can hang out, just let me give you a hickey, leave my lipstick on your cheek, i know you’re mine, so does she and i know she can’t have you like i do so why would i worry
someone: don’t u think it’s disturbing how in the past few years the level of femininity women are expected to perform and the industries they’re expected to contribute to in order to be taken seriously, especially on platforms like social media, has skyrocketed to the point that perfect makeup, contouring, acrylic nails, and eyelash extensions have become almost a social expectation and when women express no interest in adhering to those standards they’re met with vitriol and scorn straight woman who thinks Legally Blonde is the apex of feminist media: okay but it’s my choice? if i want to be feminine i should have the right to choose to do that because feminism is about choice
Idk if this is going to be an unpopular opinion (probably would be in Insta or TikTok but I feel like ppl are a bit more reasonable here), but while goth/punk/grunge/etc are PRIMARILY music and political based subcultures, there is still a fashion element. Fashion is political in today’s world, due to the nature of capitalism and it’s social effects, and the primary hallmark of the fashion side of these subcultures (in their origins) was the DIY clothes that served multiple purposes: reducing your capitalistic footprint, your environmental footprint, and defying social norms of physical presentation. Same thing with makeup, which is weaponized off of women’s insecurities. I respect your right to do whatever you want with yourself but if it happens to be following the exact trends and beauty standards of your current time, it’s not counter-culture.
You can be goth/punk/grunge and dress “normal” because it is primarily musical and political. BUT, you cannot be goth/punk/grunge and wear Shein, Temu, buy into all the latest trends and participate in fast fashion, etc, because that is against the ethics of the subculture. Similarly, we need to stop watering down the look to the point of incomprehension and normalcy and calling it after an alternative counter-cultural group. And I understand being poor, I’ve been low-income for a while now. I thrift what I can but if I really, actually need (not want!) a new pair of jeans and I can’t find one that fits anywhere else, I will go to Walmart and buy a pair from the clearance section. However I then wear and repair that pair of pants until it’s literally tearing apart, and then repurpose the fabric I can salvage into new projects when I can no longer wear it.
“It’s the most punk thing to not care what anyone thinks!!” No it’s not actually. Punk has been defined by it’s almost obsession with politics, ethics, radical empathy with the oppressed, and fighting for change. Ignoring those calling you out on your privilege and your contributions to the capitalistic machine isn’t Punk. And I say all this as someone who’s parents were part of the original alternative scenes back in the 70s-90s, and who’s talked to a lot of people who were in it at the time of its creation.
I love old media warning society of ✨ dangerous butches ✨ bc it’s always
“this woman WILL wear mens shoes and will STEAL YOUR WIFE”
“butch dykes are HANDSOME and GOOD IN BED”
“you WILL be seduced and they have a HIGH SUCCESS RATE”
“they prey on women DISAPPOINTED IN MEN and give them WAY MORE ORGASMS”
“DON’T let your loved ones receive LOVE from AFFECTIONATE LESBIANS”
That’s actually an insane take wtf. I’m begging people to stop basing women’s identities off of men, whether it’s for or against them. Women can and DO partake in things that doesn’t have anything to do with men. We are not based off of our differences to men. Oml.
Why do I keep getting the “Transandrophobia” tag across my dash, I literally don’t interact with any trans tags whatsoever but half of the posts I’m seeing are people whining about how it’s bad to dislike men because some are trans and don’t commit violent crimes as much.
Which like, I agree that trans men don’t commit violent crimes as often, hence why I’m not talking about them bc they were raised female and usually know better, but if I leave them out then I’m transphobic or whatever there’s not any way to win with these people.
“Menstruate on it” as a synonym for pondering; sounds familiar enough to “ruminate” to immediately signify the meaning, but with an air of female intuition
