I’m writing a Newsies highschool fic and will mostly be posting updates about that at the moment

Highschool Fic update

No I haven’t started writing, I am currently writing an outline of what i want to happen but here are the ships I have planned. Also unless they are a musical only character I will be using the 1992 versions of the characters so if you haven’t seen that version you should.

Jack and David, but it’s like kinda slow burn

Jack and Kathrine, but by the start of the story they have broken up but stayed friends

Blink and Mush, obviously

Jack and Sarah, they did date prior to the story but non of Sarah’s family or the Newsies knew they were dating or that they knew each other, you’ll see how that works later

Sarah and Kathrine, we love the newsbians

Racetrack and Spot, again using the 92 versions only bc I’m a sucker for a good ‘92sies Sprace story (sorry Spralbert and Ralbert shippers)

Bumlets, Swifty, and Skittery, BUMSWIFTERY FOR LIFE

Snitch and Itey, there is no freaking way they aren’t dating they literally share a bed

Tommy Boy and Finch, don’t ask me why it’s just one of my favorites

Modern Newsies HC’s for my AU Part: 4

Nights with the Newsies can either go two ways, everyone goes to sleep at around the same time, or just the younger Newsies then the rest are downstairs doing who knows what. Once everyone is asleep making a noise could be life or death, and by death I mean a pillow to the face or back of the head. They hate when people talk when they’re trying to sleep so if you walk through the Lodging House at night it’s dead silent and I mean dead silent. If you make a noise that isn’t controllable, like talking, many of the boys will throw pillows or mumble/yell to go back to sleep at the source of the sound. Some of them like snore or sleep talk (which is very rare but has happened) but they know who it is because of how used to it they are. Mornings aren’t any better, a lot of the boys are not morning people in the slightest.

I know this like doesn’t make any sense but it does in my head and will probably make more sense on paper.

What I’m thinking is he probably got bored one day and joined the Navy, went through basic Navy boot camp at 17, and served for a year but had to stop for a medical reason like diabetes or something. So he just has dog tags at 18 and depending if people pay close attention or not they’ll just ask about them. The boys definitely mess with him in the morning or any time he’s sleeping and will just yell and bang on stuff like a commander would.

Like I kid you not he just got up one day, bored out of his mind, and was just like, “Imma join the Navy” and left.

It’s like 12 AM and I keep trying to go to bed then waking up and searching things up about the Navy just to write this

More stuff about Top Gun! Steve Randel

So I know in the movie Tom Curise’s character’s call sign is Maverick and his real name is Pete, but Maverick in my opinion doesn’t fit Steve so I made it his middle name instead because I can. Call signs in the Navy and other branches come from inside jokes or characteristics of someone that the whole team agrees on. So, I’m making his call sign Wildcard mostly because all the ones I could think of didn’t sound good the more I said them out loud, plus I feel like it fits both Steve and Mav’s characters.

Doing more research while also rewatching Top Gun, the youngest you can be to start flight school to be a Navy pilot is 19 and you go through flight school for a minimum of 6 years. Now in Top Gun, Mav is 24 meaning he would have only gone for around four years unless he started flight school at a younger age. We also can assume he got into school because of his dad, so for the AU I’m making both Steve’s dad and uncle Navy pilots, his father MIA like in the movie and his uncle retired. He started flying at a young age going through flight school while also being a greaser. He never really felt a connection to flying until around the events of the rumble. He mostly worked on cars because it took his mind off of what happened to his dad until on day at the ripe age of 17 in a half, he decided to actually go to boot camp and become and actual Navy pilot in honor of his dad. Then the AU continues like the movie except for the whole him and Charlie thing, and instead him play flirting with her because he can.

I’m also scraping the idea of him leaving due to diabetes and instead making the reason he left being Goose’s death because he couldn’t stand the idea of another close friend of his dying. Then we go into him living a normal life back with the Curtis’s and Two-bit, then to the events of Top Gun Maverick.

Wrongs will be righted, if we’re united, let us seize the day
