He arrives not as the storm, but the quiet before. Donned in black outer robes, inner whites, with a dark blade fastened to his side, the Plum Blossom Sword Saint steps onto the courtyard under the gaze of the people, a single arm held behind his back. Tailing his flank flocks a generation of young disciples. For such an age, they should be cowering behind his shadow, full of uneasy eyes and tight jaws, but instead, they stand tall—as if trying to imitate the unwavering trunk of the plum tree in front of them.

one piece fanart. luffy running literally and metaphorically through the stages of his life, shown by three different iterations of himself. on the left, his child self leaps into action, smiling with his eyes closed and his arm stretching out unnaturally behind him. he has one hand holding his large straw hat in place. he wears a blue tank top with “56” written on it, and his usual fur trim shorts and sandals. he is covered in a couple bruises and has a bandage on his nose and his cheek. he is painted over a yellow undertone with warm, orangey colors. next to him is 17-year-old luffy right before he reaches the grandline. he has a similar wide grin, now revealing a tooth gap. he has his arms and legs extending in opposite directions in the signature “joyboy” pose, his left leg unnaturally stretched in front of him. he wears his red vest and the same shorts, hat, and sandals. he is colored over a green undertone with slightly cooler colors. the third, 19-year-old luffy on the far right is running while looking behind him, one haki-infused arm lifted to protect himself and the other stretching unnaturally behind him. he has a determined grin, revealing the same tooth gap as before as well as a gold tooth. his outfit is the same, except he wears an open red shirt and now dons his yellow sash and his large cape from wano, which billows out behind him. he is colored over a light blue undertone, and the colors used for him are mostly cool save his skin. all drawings of luffy use a crosshatching, color pencil style coloring. behind him, there is a swish colored with a turquoise-green gradient and clouds, reminiscent of the sky. above the swish, written in bubble letters of a blue-pink-yellow gradient, “I’M GONNA BE…!” all of this is over a pale yellow background that fades into a light cyan at the corners.
