maul sat on the throne of mandalore, savage at his side

he looked elegant, his black robes draped around his shoulders

your lover appeared regal

like a king

servants milled around, their eyes focused on you as you stepped before maul and his brother

immediately, maul’s eyes snapped up from the paperwork in his hands

“ah, (y/n),” he purred, “what brings you to my throne angel?”

you swallowed, clearing your throat, “maul, may i speak to you, in private?”

the zabrak could sense the shift in your aura

your anxiety radiating off of you in intense, thick, waves

“of course,” his voice softened, “everyone, i ask that you clear the room. now.”

“even me?” savage’s eyes narrowed

“yes even you,” maul swatted away his brother

savage grumbled, but lumbered out of the space, closing the doors behind him

the noise echoed through the vast room, silence arising 

“maul i’m pregnant,” the words came out, rapid fire as they fell from your tongue

“pregnant?” maul’s eyes widened, shock filling him to the brim

“yes maul,” tears brimmed your eyes 

you could feel his disbelief. his pure, utter shock. his lips were pursed, amber eyes widened, jaw slack. tears streamed down your cheeks, your face growing increasingly warm. 

“i’m sorry.”

maul approached you, slipping off of his throne, “angel, why would you be sorry?”

“because we both we trying to be so careful and-” you sniffled, in vain attempts to slow the tears. 

however, you were cut off by maul’s warm hands cupping your cheeks, love and adoration swimming in his amber depths as he locked eyes with you 

“(y/n), i love you. you are what keeps me grounded and sane through these tumultuous times. i promise you that i am not angry nor disappointed that you are carrying my child. why would i be furious when the woman i love more than anything is going to give birth to our sweet, beautiful child?” 

“i love you too, my handsome man,” you whispered, “do you think that it will hurt me?”

maul placed a hand on your abdomen, feeling for another heartbeat. you weren’t quite sure how far along you were, but within your soul, you just knew that you were pregnant. you could feel another attachment to your soul, growing by the second. 

“our little one is healthy,” maul’s lips curved into a wide, bright grin, “and very very content. i can feel its presence.” 

“do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?” you pouted, knowing that your lover might keep it a secret

“that is something i will never tell,” maul placed a tender kiss on your forehead, “but it will be a gorgeous child. it will take after their mother, without a doubt.”

“you’re going to be an excellent father,” you beamed, taking his hands intertwining your fingers with his, “i just know it.”

“and i will do everything in my power to ensure that my queen and my princess will be loved and protected. till my last dying breath.”

you cooked dinner, humming a sweet melody as you mixed in a variety of herbs with the roasted nerf

a bowl of blackberries was beside you, as you would prepare those later for a special dessert

however, the way the water droplets glittered on the berries was a little too enticing 

you couldn’t help yourself, popping a few of the berries into your mouth

savoring the way the tart flavor tasted on your tongue

a pair of arms wrapped around you 

his head nuzzling into the crook of your neck

“you’re going to ruin your dinner if you keep eating love”

“i think i’ll be fine,” you snorted, “besides, lately i’ve been feeding two instead of one”

a gasp exited your throat as soon as you finished the statement 

he wasn’t supposed to know yet

at least, not until later 

about a month from now

savage’s hand gripped your wrist gently, spinning you around

his eyes were curious, eager

“did you just reveal a secret?”

a blush spread through your cheeks, 

“maybe a little secret.”

“a little secret?” savage couldn’t contain his excitement, his words rushing from his mouth

“okay,” you giggled, “i’m pregnant, savage.”

savage swept you off your feet, spinning your around

never in your life had you seen the zabrak so overjoyed

not since the day you got married

he was squealing with excitement, repeating 

“i’m going to be a dad! i’m going to be a dad! i’m going to be a dad!”

you couldn’t help but melt at the sight 

“i’m so glad you’re taking the news so well.”

“do you know what the gender is?” his eyes searched yours, gleaming with curiosity

“i don’t,” you shook your head

“well,” savage grinned, a wide, toothy grin, “we’ll find out the day it’s born, huh?” 

“we will,” you beamed

“i’m going to gather some wood and start building,” savage announced, puffing out his chest, “you finish dinner then stay off your feet, my love.”

“what are you gathering wood for?” you arched a brow, giggling 

“we’re going to need a crib aren’t we?” savage called, strolling out the door
