forever adding "get boiled idiot" to my vocabulary, thanks soup squad idiot
βyou belong in the kitchenβ okay? and you belong in the soup. get Boiled idiot.
"it's all in your head" correct! unfortunately I am also in there
this is what i try to get my kids to understand, i TA for one elementary class and one college course and the prof. for rhet. comp. is so fucking cool like this and they have no idea what to do with that because they're expecting her to fail them every damn time they miss assignments bc of work or family obligations, she dont play with the slackers though she knows when they be tryin to take advantage π
even with my 2nd graders - if they don't get their homework sheets right or done on time, teach gives them three extra days and i grade wtv's late. its counterproductive to just call it a fail like that and then wonder why ur kids aren't learning the material.
Internet vernacular has completely altered what some words and expressions mean to me. Forevermore, I will hear the words "hear me out" will only and exclusively as "before you cast your judgements prematurely, please pause and allow me to explain how and why I should be allowed to fuck this thing".
the fact that we are firmly in a time where conservatives are like "the actual founding fathers, who were slaveowners, were not racist enough for my taste" is wild
there's a lesson that people dont seem to have learned which is insane to me if you've watched game of thrones bc my queen mother Lady Olenna said it herself,
"sometimes we must ally with our rivals to defeat our enemies",
or something to that effect.
the seven kingdoms were fighting a war over the iron throne, while a millions-strong undead army marched towards civilization in an attempt to conquer it. no one focused on the undead army part early enough tho, because they were too busy fighting and killing each other over who got to be in charge.
you may despise conservatives, Cheeto voters or the Republican party itself, you may even hate them. its a valid perspective to have, BUT
those people are, at the baseline, in the same position as you - at one point they may have been misinformed and misguided by the system, their families, their churches, etc. etc. and they are fighting wholeheartedly for what they believe is right. some of those people are now finally deconditioning themselves from those positions because they are seeing, watching, LEARNING that the system does not infact favor them if they are not part of the 1%, and they are seeing, watching, LEARNING that the things they voted for that they thought didn't affect them do infact impact them majorly, because of the fact that
i understand the urge to shame people for participating in the oppression and discrimination that has been happening for centuries in this country, and some of the people im talking about DO deserve it because they REFUSE to change, BUT
refusing to celebrate those people who have only just been truly introduced to our side of things, to our perspectives and experiences is counterproductive. im not saying be nice to bigots, i'm saying be welcoming to ex-bigots and educate them in a way that doesn't make it seem like you're looking down on them for not knowing - thats what the government is doing to immigrants, trans folks and disabled individuals.
we will do more damage as a united front. dont immediately attack; if you see a good fighter on someone else's team, the best way to move is to get them on yours instead.
I think itβs important to note that in the US thereβs been a lot of older people, conservatives, people from red states, and Drump voters themselves participating in protests and pushing back in town halls. Conservative judges are ruling against the current administration.
You donβt have to like these people but I want to emphasize that when fighting against authoritarianism it doesnβt help to be picky with your allies. Keep going to protests and if former Drump voters join you in those protests, good.
my rants to My Lord that i dont have anyone else to talk to about. rhet. comp. and literary studies grad, TA for creative writing and history
