Finally got around to watching Criminal minds season 16 and it was just meh

I mean don't get me wrong I like how the went a different approach with the unsub, spending the whole season to find out who he is

But It just felt bland, the characters didn't feel the same. Garcia just seemed kinda mean, hardly any scenes of Tara and Luke

And Tyler Green?? There wasn't any chemistry between Tyler and Garcia.

What happened to Matt Simmons?? They mentioned him once and that's it??

I have not seen Criminal Minds Evolution. I don’t know if I’ll watch the new season when it comes out or not.

However, one thing I’m terrified for is how awful people are going to treat Paget Brewster when the season airs (especially on Twitter/X where she is the most active).

Look, this woman is over 50 and barely understands twitter/the internet in general. I truly do not think she knows that Jemily is more than a friendship. She probably has heard that people ship them together but she isn’t on tumblr - she’s not reading fanfic and has no idea just how serious “Jemily” fans are about what they want to happen.

She wanted Emily Prentiss to be a lesbian - yes, this is absolutely true. It’s also true that was over 15 years ago and the character has had multiple male partners since the start. She is Paget Brewster. She plays Emily Prentiss.

She is hyping up JJ and Emily most likely because she is so excited that the show is showcasing a strong female friendship (that was apparently lacking in season 16 to my understanding?). And people are taking that to mean that somehow after 17 seasons, CM is suddenly going to kill JJ’s husband off entirely (very unlikely even without the actor returning) and throw her into the open, waiting arms of Emily immediately.

While it would be wonderful for the CM universe to have more representation- please, if you are truly a fan, do not take your anger out on Paget. She does not and will not deserve that.

Emily Prentiss might be cool and always knows about the world but Paget Brewster is like a young grandmother - she knows how to cook and about squirrels.

Please don’t crucify her when the seasons romantic storylines aren’t what you pictured. Please be kind.
