Yes you may! I love them both so I was excited to write it! I wasn’t quite sure if you wanted it in a way where they both date reader and not each other, or they all date each other so I wrote it in a way where they’re all dating each other! Hope you don’t mind ^^

All three of you have never been in a polyamorous relationship before so it was a new learning experience for everyone. You were probably the first to get used to it compared to the other two- especially since they were in monogamous relationships beforehand.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Sleeping Arrangements:

None of you live together (not yet) so whenever you guys have time, it’s just sleeping at each other’s place. Sleeping with the two of them is a nightmare. Mark has night terror and it leads to him screaming in his sleep and kicking or throwing his arms around. Rex has restless leg syndrome and he’s constantly kicking or moving his legs in his sleep. He doesn’t stay still, often pushing whoever is near him either off the bed, or closer to the other. He also snores as loud as fuck, if you have misophonia… it’s torture to listen to him. you’ll wake up looking like you’ve been through hell the two wake up looking like princesses that had a peaceful sleep.

Mark: “man, my body feels surprisingly rested. I think I only had one nightmare last night”

Rex: “Same! My legs aren’t as tense this morning!”

You: “…”

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Protectiveness:

Mark is stronger than you and Rex, but he doesn’t treat you like you’re fragile antiques to be protected…. Most of the time. He does have his moments where if he will have a nightmare, or his teammates may get hurt and he will start acting a little overprotective for that moment. If you’re a hero, you’ll get the same amount of protection as Rex. If you’re a civilian, Mark is going to be more protective over you. This will last for either a few days or a few weeks, depending on the situation. Other than that, neither him or Rex will treat you like you need to be protected like a child.

Rex is not very particularly protective- in the sense of overdoing it. It’s just enough. Whenever Mark gets overprotective though he is quick to call it out and try to shut that shit down. He does not like being coddled.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Family:

Debbie loves you and Rex, welcoming both of you with open arms. She wants you both to feel like family. Oliver could care less honestly, he likes Rex a little more than you because he will play fight with the Rex…. And win.

If you have a good relationship with your family, both Mark and Rex will try their absolute best to make sure your family likes them. Mark is a natural at it, however Rex will overdo it to the point it sounds like he’s full of himself. Oops

If you don’t have a good relationship with your family, that is absolutely okay. They will reassure you that they’re your family now.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Movie Nights:

Because of how often it is that date nights get interrupted, it usually ends up being just casual movie nights. It usually starts with Mark and Rex arguing. Not intense or anything, just back and forth. Rex always wants to pick the movie, but Mark will often fight him on it even if he doesn’t care how much on what movie they will pick. If you have a movie in mind, Mark will intensely fight to watch that movie because he doesn’t want Rex to have his way lol. Rex will grumble and give in.

If Mark has a movie he really wants you two watch with him, he WILL be that person to pause the movie and wait for you guys to stop talking because he is slightly agitated.

Mark: “no, I’ll pause and wait for you guys to stop talking.”

Rex: “Oh my god, Mark”

Mark: “There's an important scene coming up and I swear to go Rex if you ask “what just happened?” Or state “I’m confused” I am going to tape your eyelids open”

You: “Love, we’re sorry, we’ll stop now. Now please start the movie again…”

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Love Language:

For Mark, it’s physical affection. He needs one of you to have skin touching him after a long day at work. Safe to say he’s also a fan of PDA. He may rub your arm or press light kisses to your neck, or maybe just rub his face to your neck. With Rex, he will throw himself on his back, sometimes catching the other male off guard.

Rex’s love language is words of affirmation. He gets giddy if he gets a little praise for anything he does, it makes him feel completely like a good boyfriend. In a way, it’s often Acts of Service paired with Words of Affirmation. He does something for either of you and then he wants praise. Does Mark need a shoulder massage? He’ll do it. Do you need help with a task? He’s on it. He likes to act like he is annoyed first before doing anything.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Relationship Insecurities:

Rex is doing a lot better than when he was with Eve when it comes to jealousy- but sometimes it’s still there. He has FOMO, he wants to know everything that is going on when he’s not around. He’s not jealous of you and Mark being alone, it’s more of the fact that he wants to know everything that is going on in both of your lives. It gets on Mark’s nerves sometimes.

Rex: “Oh? Oliver is sick? You didn’t tell me that”

Mark: “Because he just got sick this morning…”

Mark is afraid of being a disappointment. He’s afraid he’s going to be not good enough and maybe he’ll ruin the relationship. It’s not obvious, he doesn’t make it all that known but sometimes a late night talk will get this information out of him.

You: “You can always express this Mark. We’re both here to listen”

Mark: “Thanks, I love you both.”

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Kisses:

Mark likes to receive kisses on his jawline. It’s a little ticklish there and he may give a slight shiver and gasp if he gets a kiss there. As for giving kisses, he’s a gentleman and likes to kiss your knuckles. Rex doesn’t like being kissed on the knuckles so Mark will kiss his cheek.

Rex loves to give out earlobe kisses. Mark is ticklish and will squirm away and he will absolutely tease him about it. If you’re ticklish as well, best believe he is not going to exclude you from the teasing as well (or as Mark likes to call it: “harassment”) As for receiving kisses, he likes kisses on his nose. It’s so gentle and affectionate to him.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Habits:

If Mark isn’t going out as Invincible right away he will get up early for a morning jog. He mostly goes by himself but he will invite you and Rex to tag along sometimes. Problem is, he does not look back during the jog and he is leaving you and Rex in the dust I fear 😭 He will be back at his house like, “I didn’t even know when I lost you guys”

Rex has a habit of losing stuff at your guys place. He’ll leave socks, money, notebooks, and once even his ID. He does it a lot yet he immediately will panic and not even think to ask you or Mark if it’s at your place. “Guys I am so fucked I lost my ID. What if I dropped it while-“ You will cut him off and explain you have it on your nightstand and Mark will laugh at him.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Sick:

If Mark is sick, which is rarely as he has a great immune system, he is wiped out. He is curled up in bed, sleeping most of the day. Though he will try to get you and Rex to cuddle with him. Rex is a lot more hesitant to do so if Mark has the stomach flu but if not he will. Hopefully you know how to take care of him, because Rex, why he is trying, sucks at figuring out how to take care of someone who is sick. He will forget to give Mark medicine, or to check his temperature again.

Rex is kind of a brat when he is sick. He won’t tell either of you what he wants but will get mad if you can’t read his mind. Then he’ll groan about being bored, then whine a little that he’s miserable. He does want both of you around though. He will talk until he’s exhausted and then want the both of you to talk to each other to fill the quiet. Plus he likes listening to your voices.

Lord help you if you are sick. These two will somehow become dumb and dumber when trying to take care of you- it’s like them trying to be helpful is cancelling the other out. Do you want to be left alone while sick? They will not let you, they will invade your personal space. Mark is constantly checking on you and Rex won’t stop talking to the point you won’t even be able to sleep. If you get sick, it’s best to not tell them and wait until it passes over.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Angst: (spoilers for season 3)

If we are going off canon, the Invincible War was hell. At first, Mark thought it was bad enough that there were variants of him killing and destroying everything- but hearing how Rex sacrificed himself to kill a variant of him broke something inside him. No matter how much you try to comfort him it’s not enough. He will greatly distance himself- to the point it will make you wonder if the two of you are even dating, but he will come back. You’re all he has left now.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Fluff:

Mark and Rex love doing domestic life stuff with you. Doing dishes together may feel like an obnoxious chore, but they will make it fun. Rex will turn on music and dance while Mark hums along. If any of you are in a bad mood he will start playing Kesha or Katy Perry in hopes of cheering you guys up. Mark is mostly a vibe, he goes along with anything and will laugh the whole time.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Smut:

Keeping it not extremely explicit but here’s some fun facts about them in bed.

Mark is VERY vocal. To the point where you might have to put a hand over his mouth. Just loud moans and jumbled up words that immediately come to mind. First time all three of you were together he bit his lip to be “modest” and then on the second round- loudest whines ever came pouring out of him like crazy and it shellshocked both you and Rex at first. Whether Mark is on top or bottom (or both) he WILL be loud about it.

Rex loves thighs. Both you and Mark have lovely thighs and he will leave hickeys on them. He will just put his head between your thighs and stare up at you while licking over his hickey he left. With Mark sometimes he will be a little rougher- wondering if hickeys will even be left on Mark’s skin. (Answer to that is not really. They’re barely visible and fade within an hour or two) So that leads to him sometimes harshly biting on Mark. Mark will let him half the time.

ᯓᡣ𐭩 Pet Names/Nicknames:

Rex will call Mark pretty boy or golden boy- depending on his mood. Pretty boy is more flirtatious and golden boy is more in a teasing manner. He tried to use the nickname puppy for Mark but it sounded like a sexual term and Mark quickly shut that down.

Rex will call you babe. Short and simple, and sometimes Mark responds to it too but it’s mostly reserved for you.

Mark uses Hun for you. It’s soft and gentle, just like him, and it carries so much affection.

He will call Rex baby, it started as baby boy but it made Rex too flustered so he shortened it. However he will call both of you “My Love”

An Au where all the Invincible Variants we saw were kept alive to defend Earth from Viltrumites

This will be called the AVRP AU from now on, and here’s a few of the base line notes I wrote for the Au. This Au is meant to be shared, so if you want to create your own interpretation of it, I encourage it! Ideas and questions are also encouraged so I can expand the story of the AU.

Hello! Could you pls write something where the reader is struggling with addiction and is depressed about the situation. He goes to Mark when he’s sad about it and Mark doesn’t know and he ends up telling Mark what’s going on cause he feels like shit making him (mark) worry about him(reader). He and Mark have a heart to heart about it and Mark does something to cheer him up (they do something cute, like go on a walk and get food or smt fluffy idk). Thx sm

As someone who has severe depression and watched people struggle with different types of addiction, I feel like I was qualified enough to do this. Apologizes for how long this took I wanted to wait until I was done with my semester of college before answering asks.

You don’t know when it started, time warped around in your memories to where it all became a big blur. Youll question the passage of time, how long has it truly been? The only thing that’ll stick out in memories is important events, like Mark’s Birthday.

That day stood out because while you were still struggling, it felt nice to have a time to just forget you even were. A nice distraction as you watched your boyfriend excitedly talk to you and his friends about how he loved the presents, and then how you all went out to do whatever he wanted to do. That’s when he pulled you all to the amusement park. You all warned Mark not to eat before getting on the ride but he said he went flying like that as Invincible all the time. Afterwards he was doubled over in a trashcan, not expecting all the loops and turns specifically, but also because he just ate too much. However, he still had a fun day and bounced back to normal after sitting down for just 15 minutes.

You smile tiredly at the memory before turning to your desk that had wrappers all over it- and you look at the keychain of Seance Dog that had the initials MG on the back, you and Mark getting matching ones with each other’s initials on it. Even if you weren’t entirely into the series, it made Mark happy- therefore made you happy. Then there’s the Photo Booth picture with you, Mark, Amber, William, Rick and Eve. Then the Photo Booth picture of just you and him.

You groan when you realize your phone is dead, and you scavenge among your room for the cord. There it is, right next to an empty pill bottle you never threw away. You let out a shaky sigh before plugging the cord into the wall and then into your phone. You wait for about a minute before the screen lights up and you see missed messages and calls. Shit.

Mark 💛🩵: Hun? Did I do something wrong? You haven’t been answering me

Mark 💛🩵: Babe?

Mark 💛🩵: Can I come over tn? I had a rough day

The messages make your gut coil and churn with guilt, it doesn’t feel good at all. He’s worried about you and yet you’re being a terrible boyfriend by not telling him, by being self-centered-

Then it hits you. He was like this with Amber before they broke up the first time. You were going to text but he deserves a call instead. You take a deep breath, rub your forming headache, and hit the call button.

It rings a few times before he answers, he voice sounding frantic, excited, worried, and relieved all at the same time.

“Babe- oh thank god. Oh my god I was so scared that something happened to you- or- or I did something wrong”

“No, no, you did nothing wrong. Sorry I didn’t answer, my phone was dead”

“It was dead? You used to never let it die, you were so concerned about its battery life at all times of the day” He lets out a sad chuckle.

“Yeah, I know. It’s so weird. Anyways- uh, are you okay? I saw your messages from last night”

“Uhm, I would say I’m okay but I could be better. Got a little beat up yesterday. It’s healed but it’s… not fun”

“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you. Is there anything I can do to help you?”

“Can I come over?”

You hesitate. You look around your room and it’s a disaster. Laundry everywhere, trash everywhere, things out of place. It looks like someone threw everything into your room and called it a day. He hears the hesitation and sighs.

“Is that a no? Usually when you hesitate it’s a no”

Nonono, you don’t want him to get the wrong idea- to think you don’t love him or have time for him anymore. Before you can think you say, “No, it’s a yes. You can come over”

“Okay, okay, oh man, I can’t wait to see you. I’ll be dressed quick and be there in 5”

“Okay great, can’t wait to see you. Love you”

“Love you too, bye”

“Bye”

As soon as he hangs up you shovel the clothes from the floor into your hands and throw it into the bottom of the closet. When he says he will be there in five, he means it. Curse him and his speedy flying- but not really because you love that man whole heartedly. You grab a trash bag and just throw shit into it, hoping nothing important gets thrown in there. You’re making progress, but because it’s scattered all across your room you also feel like you’re making no progress at all. You just freeze and stare at the floor- almost as if you want it to just disappear. You can’t get yourself to continue to move- the sight alone makes you wanna start hyperventilating. It needs to be cleaned. You need to be clean. Oh god, what does the rest of the house look like? Before you know it you’re crumpling to the ground and sobbing into your arms. It feels life shattering, but you know with a little bit of drugs- it’ll just be a silly little problem that could be melted away. You sniffle, thinking about if you took the last pill or if you still have some more left.

Knock knock knock. At your window. You can hear it behind yourself- and you feel yourself start to cry again. God, now Mark- you’re perfect superhero boyfriend- knows you’re a fucking slob with an addiction.

Knock knock knock. Sounds a little more frantic this time. Time to face the music, face your greatest fear- and it was one you knew you couldn’t escape because you couldn’t get your life together. You slowly stand up, and open the window. You expected him to recoil in disgust at your appearance and the state of your room. But no- his soft brown eyes look concerned.

“Are you okay? I thought I heard you cryin-“

The question alone brought you to tears again. He looks a little startled but fully comes into the room from your window and pulls you into a hug. You wanna pull back- telling him to get away because you’re disgusting. But you just sob into his shoulder.

“Oh hun, what’s wrong?” He asks delicately with warmth underlying. You sniffle, trying not to hiccup over every word that stumbles out of your chapped lips.

“I’m sorry” Is the first thing you say, as it is the first thing that comes to mind. You feel like you need to apologize for everything, for even existing.

“Sorry for what?” He pulls back to try and look at your face, when you look down, he doesn’t try to force you to look at him. But he just wants to gauge your facial expressions from what he can see.

“I’m- I’m a mess. Me, my room, and- and” You can’t think of a way to explain your addiction to him, or your severe depression that just kept getting worse these past few months. He doesn’t cut you off, he waits patiently for you to finish.

“I’m… I’ve been taking pills.”

You expected him to gasp, to flinch even, anything that showed horror, disgust, maybe even him being upset. But no. He lightly rubbed your arms and nodded.

“For how long?”

“2 months.”

“Okay, I’m here. Do you wanna talk about it?”

His calm response almost made you cry again. It felt so normal- not like he was brushing the problem under the rug, but like he was humanizing what you went through. Your lip quivers and you don’t know how to respond. Yes, you wanna talk about it. But also no, because you don’t trust your own voice.

“We don’t have to talk about it right now. We can just lay together, sit together, watch Tv. Whatever you want, whatever you need, I will try to make possible”

You take a few deep breaths to steady yourself, “I think I wanna shower first, if that’s okay.”

“Of course. Do you want me to order food or make food in the meantime?”

You didn’t feel hungry but it wasn’t good to not eat so you end up agreeing. You grab some fresh clothes from your closet, which isn’t much, and then head into the shower.

After the shower, you eat the food Mark cooked for you and explain to him what has been going on. How you fell into a deep depression again and then you started using. Then you explain, with your eyes watering and your voice threatening to break, that you were ashamed. That you didn’t want to tell him because you feel gross when you get to this point, and it feels like you can’t come back. Then you hiccup and sob that you’re sorry for being distant and making him worry.

He sits there and lets you finish, before pulling you into a hug. He kisses your temple softly and explains that he understands. He doesn’t understand on a personal level but he understands your thought process and thanks you for opening up to him now.

He makes you feel sane. It isn’t like he fixed you, but you feel less insecure as he helps you clean your room and make a plan for how to navigate this moving forward. He helps with resources, if you’re willing to accept that just yet, and then helps shop for new groceries as well.

He understands it takes time too, you don’t just magically get better. He’s there for you every step of the way. He’s been understanding to you the way you were for him. When he’s in the hospital because of a fight or is bruised up, you drop whatever you're doing and rush to be there. In a way, you two understand the other's struggles without being in the same position. Perhaps you understand each other in only the way a boyfriend would. He celebrates every day you go without using, every day you’re clean instead of focusing on the fact you’ve used at all. And you patch him up (really it’s just putting kids bandaids on his bruises while the two of you laugh at how silly it is) and tell him what he did was brave and that he’s saving lives. And maybe he even saved yours.

How does the AVRP work?

The AVRP (Alternate Variant Reformation Program) is working to reform all the variants caught from the invincible war. They’re trying using to keep this a secret because they don’t think the public would react well.

The board cannot seem to agree on which approach they should use to reform them. The whole point is to try and get them to fight FOR Earth against Viltrum which most of them serve for in their dimensions- plus some board members think they should be punished for the damage they’ve done while others think that if they punish them it’ll cause a guarantee of betrayal from them in the future. So far, staff are trying a kinder approach- providing therapy, nice rooms inside the facility, human interaction, tv and books, etc,.

How does this AU differ from the canon?

Everything all the way up to the invincible war is canon. During the invincible war, there were more variants in this au. Every variant we’ve seen in the show during the fight is alive- the other variants that exist in this au are the ones killed. The AVRP did some major covering and reported half of the variants they caught as dead, and governments assumed whoever was behind this (angstrom levy) took the rest with him- like when he through the 8 remaining into the wasteland.

Damage has also been to the lesser extent because they worked on catching the stronger variants first. The war still lasted three days but that’s because there was more variants and it was hard to keep track of what was going on with conflicting orders being sent out.

Do they have a contingency plan?

Yes and no. It’s almost like a contingency theory. If a variant were to escape and kill up to 5 people, they would most likely incapicate them and lock them up, not giving them a second chance. If it gets up to 50 people, they will execute them. They don’t have it meticulously planned out on how to do so as they can’t agree on what method to capture, or execute.

Are they getting new names?

Yes. I wrote this down just in case nobody saw my polls but I did do polls for the variants and am picking names based on what won. Some variants I chose myself. These are just the names of a few of them, not all of them.

Some variants refused to be called anything but Mark, and some were okay with getting a new name. Due to some refusing, names were kind of forced onto them. Some are actual names, some are more so nicknames because they couldn’t pick.

Sinister mark- sinister (I feel like the name was given to him because the staff didn’t like his vibe)

Mohawk Mark- Mitch

Maskless Mark- Miller

Full Mask Mark- Miles

Retro Mark- Marcellus

Shiesty Mark- Mikey

(Yes if you’re confused by the polls, I flipped retro and sheisty’s winning names because I don’t think Marcellus fits Sheisty but Mikey does)

Omni-Mark- Min-Sung

Cap Mark/Cowl Mark- Reed

Will they interact with canon characters other than the variants?

Yes, eventually. Right now they won’t be but the first two to be introduced into the AU will be Debbie and Amber- to show the more human side of them if it’s still in there.

Staff’s favorite variants?

I feel like it’s obviously Miles (full mask) because his goal is the closest within reach, and they can give it to him. So, he mostly doesn’t get violent or retaliate. Second is Viltrum Mark (no name yet) because he keeps to himself and doesn’t retaliate against female staff or nursing staff.
