A/N: Cute fluffy Cayde stuff? I’m out of practice, but let me try! I’ll add the Cayde having a crush on you as a thing, but I’ll adjust the details to make it more general for all classes if you like other classes. Also thank you anon for saying my Cayde fics are some of the best you’ve seen. That’s really encouraging and sweet <3

It was extremely obvious to everyone that Cayde-6 favoured you over all other Guardians. You were quiet, hardworking, forward-thinking and possessed incredible strength; in both Light and will. The two of you seemed like polar opposites and combined with the duties of being a Guardian, it was the general consensus among your peers that things weren’t likely to work out even if you and Cayde-6 were mutually interested.

Cayde-6 knew of the rumors, so it made him a little anxious when approaching you ever about anything, but he couldn’t help it. He knew you were the strong and silent type and that he constantly had clever quips for everything and that both of you were very different, but he just gravitated towards you.

It wasn’t like you were completely unaware of rumours floating around, but you ignored all of them unless they important to your duty. People’s feelings waxed and waned like the phases of the moon and you felt like it was waste of time to keep up with it all, which is why you never worried too much about what was said regarding you and Cayde-6.

Honestly, despite some people finding Cayde-6’s flashy personality annoying at times, you liked it. You were so used to being straightforward and introverted that whenever Cayde-6 was around it was refreshing. While other people found your silence to be awkward or unnerving, Cayde-6 never seemed to mind. He never treated you any differently, never seemed intimidated or scared and even if you didn’t outwardly laugh at his jokes or antics, he enjoyed your smile.

It was one particular evening that Cayde-6 did something that was particularly surprising to everyone. Everything had gone right for him the moment he had risen to start the day—reports were completed without a hitch, guardians cleared missions without any unexpected interruptions, there were cool explosions and one incredibly disgruntled looking Zavala after one really funny joke at the Titan’s expense.

It was also the scheduled maintenance day for your sparrow, which meant you were going to visit the hangar. You turned up a few minutes early as you usually did and signed in with Holliday and her support team before turning on your heel to leave.

“Hey! You weren’t going to leave without saying ‘hi’ to your favourite Vanguard, right?” Cayde-6 leaned against the support beam in his usual spot, trying to look as ‘cool’ as he usually did and not let you know that he was kind of nervous. “Wait, favourite Hunter Vanguard.” He had to specify or else you might have named another Vanguard for kicks.

You paused and offered the Exo Hunter a small smile before wandering over to him with a small greeting wave. As you approached, Cayde-6 stood up straight to meet you properly, which he never really did. You noticed the tiny change in behaviour and tilted your head slightly in a questioning pose.

“What’s with that look?” He was usually okay with pressure, but definitely not when it came to you. Cayde-6 broke immediately. “Nothing’s wrong. Why would you think that?” When you casually put a hand on your hip and shifted your pose slightly the Exo waved his hands. “Seriously—does that look of your’s work on Ikora because I would pay a lot of money to see a showdown between the two of you.” He leaned forward conspiratorily, “My money’s on you, so don’t let me down.”

You let up a bit and smiled again which made the Exo relax.

“So… Just asking, it’s no big deal—” Cayde-6 rubbed the back of his head before crossing his arms in front of him and then dropping his arms to rest kind of casually as his sides. You watched him shift uncomfortably and shook your head; so there was something up. “—It’s not a big deal, but if you’re free maybe—I mean if you feel like it, since you’re waiting for your sparrow to be serviced anyway—maybe—you’d like to get a drink with me?”

It was nerve-wracking for Cayde-6 to wait for any kind of response from you and it was even worse because all you did was stare. You hadn’t even blinked as a response to his stammered request. Maybe he should repeat it and do his best Zavala impression so his words came out stronger or something?

The silence was bordering on uncomfortable before you nodded. “Okay.” Your response was quiet but clear. You reached for Cayde’s hand with both of yours and gave it a squeeze to make sure he understood that your answer was positive.

“Really?” Cayde-6 very nearly squeaked, but then cleared his throat. “Yeah, I mean—awesome. I know a nice place at the bazaar—hey, maybe we can get some spicy ramen too, eh? Are you a fan of ramen? I think we had this conversation before, but I’m not sure.” Playing it cool was not going to work as he was buzzing from excited energy, as well as the sparkly fuzzies you gave him your touch.

There was a quiet laugh from you as you tugged on his arm to lead the way out of the hangar. The Exo Hunter continued to chatter all the way to the exit.

As soon as the two of you were out of earshot, it was like the entire hangar exhaled in unison. “I thought he was gonna mess that up.” Holliday announced and there was a general hum of agreement from around her. “Alright, who owes who money? I know some of you owe me—I knew it was gonna happen sometime this week. C’mon, pay up.”

Explaining Silver the Hedgehog's Backstory

One of the most confusing subjects in the Sonic fandom is Silver’s backstory, the chronology of Sonic 06 and how it affects the characters. So in this post I’ll go over what we know about Silver’s backstory, its effects on his character, his involvement with Blaze and how the ending of Sonic 06 affects them.

Silver was born 200 years into a devastated future ravaged by the Flames of Disaster Iblis. The sky was always dark and the world was filled with endless wastelands ravaged by constant disasters and hostile Iblis spawn. The people are exhausted and live without hope. Iblis rampages and burns everything in its path. Silver has fought against Iblis for most of his life and tried to find the source of the disaster for just as long but no one could tell him how the world came to ruin.

This backstory informs Silver's character in the following ways:

Silver is a warrior. He is proficient in and enjoys fighting, has very aggressive determined expressions with constant fists and is a noted fighter(Shadow describes him as a fighter in Team Sonic Racing) whose power is respected by Sonic and Shadow. Silver is extremely powerful and capable of defeating small armies of enemies and giant monsters by himself. This stems from his apocalyptic background in the hostile future filled with Iblis minions and disasters such as flame tornadoes that he had to battle constantly. When you surprise him in Generations he is instantly ready to fight and angrily looks around, he comes from a world where all manner of Iblis spawn could attack at any given moment. It is explained in Silver's introduction story on Sonic Channel that Silver fought and struggled for half his lifetime, indicating that Silver fought against Iblis and its forces from a very early age.

Silver is naive, he has a black and white perspective and tackles things bluntly. He expects people to believe and cooperate with him when he says he’s from the future or explains outlandish things about his mission. He is earnest, he has no filter and acts unrefined when talking to people(which in Japanese is signified by his use of the informal "Ore" and "Anta" to address himself and others when he speaks). He sometimes takes things literally, misinterprets things or doesn't get jokes. He can also be unfamiliar with things in Sonic's time period. We don't know how people lived in the apocalyptic future or what they did and didn't have access to but it seems to be very rudimentary, destitute and even militarized as one of the glimpses into Silver's future from Sonic Pict shows him eating calorie bar rations that are described as apple flavored. Related to the above, Silver likely spent the majority of his time fighting.

Silver is also very pragmatic. He has a straight to the point mindset and hates distractions, frivolous details or just things getting in his way. As a survivor there is no room for pointless things for him.

On the flip side of that however, Silver is also wide-eyed. He loves challenges and experiencing fun new things he never had access to and is said to engage in cheerful activities following the historical change of 06.

Silver is incredibly optimistic and hopeful. He was able to fight through the hopeless ruined future world because he had the hope for a blue sky and the determination to keep fighting when everyone else had given into despair.

Most importantly of all however is Silver's deep love and drive for peace and prosperity. Silver is a very empathetic person that cares deeply for the state of the world and people around him. Note the beginning of his story in 06 where he expresses outrage at the state of his future with dark skies, endless wastelands and people that live in despair then contrast that with his later dialogue throughout the series where he expresses love for blue skies, beautiful vistas or just places where people live happily. Something as simple as a desert is beautiful to him simply because there is no destruction and the people are happy. Silver particularly loves and desires to protect smiles and blue skies because he came from a world that is stated to be filled with darkness and despair according to Sonic Team's Sonic Channel stories. Silver fights for peace and prosperity for the world and its people because he has experienced quite literal hellish suffering and devastation.

I also want to emphasize that Blaze isn't part of Silver's backstory and he didn't have her in his life in the apocalyptic future. Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka confirmed that Silver and Eggman Nega originate from the future while Blaze originates from her dimension and writer Ian Flynn has confirmed that Sonic Rush takes place before Sonic 06 with these answers on his podcast.

"I can't get too much into it because this is kind of internal stuff that has not been clarified publicly but Sonic Rush comes first, the Blaze of 06 is the Blaze of Rush and she doesn't die, she turns into Burning Blaze and warps back to her own dimension and forgets the events of 06."

"I don't know how much I can get into it without being given the official go-ahead, but Blaze is not from Silver's post-apocalyptic future. She is from her own dimension and it's extremely nuancey, but she doesn't really see or interact with Sonic until like the very very end of Silver's campaign. It's...an incredibly narrow loophole but she doesn't necessarily know that it's Sonic they're after. Again I'm sure someone can tear that apart very easily but suffice to say, I believe the intention is that she doesn't know that Silver is targeting Sonic specifically and she has no interaction with him or really anybody else in the main cast for that reason."

Meaning that Silver and Blaze only met shortly before the events of 06 and Silver faced the ruined future on his own before that point.

Things are gonna get a bit complicated here but Blaze only temporarily appearing in the future before being ripped away from Silver actually ties into their Tanabata parallel. In the story of Tanabata, Orihime(the princess) only descends to the world of Hikoboshi(the cow herder) for a short while before they are separated for neglecting their duties. At the end of Silver's story, Silver neglects his duty by refusing to seal Blaze away and so they are separated, only to ever meet again when crossing paths in Sonic's world.

When arriving in Wave Ocean, Blaze notes the world of the past. This is because Blaze seems to actually have amnesia.

According to Ian Flynn, the reason why Blaze was kept away from the cast besides Silver in 06 is as a narrow loophole to keep her from realizing it was Sonic they were after. In a 2012 Q&A for the Sonic Boom convention, Sonic Team Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka stated that the characters in 06 had amnesia and at the end of the Metal Virus arc in IDW we learn that rough inter-dimensional travel can cause amnesia which happens to Sonic when he crashes into Blaze's dimension. Blaze then reawakens Sonic's memories by reminding him of his super form, something that Blaze was kept from in 06.

What happens with Blaze in 06 as I understand it is that at some point prior to the events of the game Blaze was transported to the future where she developed amnesia upon arrival before joining Silver in his war against Iblis. They are deceived by Mephiles into trying to assassinate Sonic before Silver learns the truth and returns to the future to seal Iblis away, he is unable to do so however due to not being a compatible vessel and Blaze seals Iblis and herself away instead. Following the defeat of Solaris and the subsequent historical change, Blaze warps back to her Dimension and forgets the events of 06(according to Ian Flynn).

Silver also warps back to the future and forgets the events of 06 but not his apocalyptic life under the devastation of Iblis, only the events of 06 itself and his original partnership with Blaze which was clarified in his Fast Friends Forever profile that states he can't remember how his future was restored(as in the events of 06). 

So yes, the ending of Sonic 06 doesn't change Silver or Blaze's backstories. Silver is still the apocalyptic warrior from Sonic 06 and Blaze is still the imperial princess from Sonic Rush before and after the events of 06.

The endings of both Silver’s Story and the Last Story of 06 tie into the game’s themes of duty, sacrifice and exchange.

“Do we have to sacrifice something in order to gain something?”

To gain something you have to lose something, to become a hero you must be willing to make sacrifices. Blaze sacrifices herself to save the future and in exchange for the peaceful happy future he always wanted, Silver, alongside everyone else, loses their memories of the events of 06.

But Silver's duty doesn't end there. He continues to protect the peace of the future as new disasters and changes in the timeline occur, and just like with Iblis, Silver will continue fighting them for a peaceful world.

(This is post Blackwatch Genji, bc I've written fluff for that Genji twice man)

For someone so badass, he can also be kind of needy

Genji is kind of like a cat, where he'll just get extra close to you and when you run your hands through his hair, the whirring of the machinery in his body makes a purr sound

So, he's basically cybernetic cat ninja?

Very cuddly, though it will take some reassuring since he thinks his body isn't viable for affection since it is mostly made from carbon fiber.

He is very wrong, it's smooth and glossy and can heat up or cool down which let me tell you now anon is super nice.

Genji, while he won't admit it, is still a gamer at heart.

Gaming nights where he'll sit on the floor with you in his lap

He used to play competitively in arcades, but he found that with you he prefers to play games where you two works as a team or just enjoy each other's company

If you don't play games, he'd still like you to join him and watch as he plays a story-based game like Witcher 3 or Dragon age

He enjoys music A LOT

You took Lucio's suggestion and asked Genji to hook up his suit to change color to the beat of the music

He loves nothing more than to goof around doing silly dance moves with his RGB suit going off

We all know, no matter how much you love Genji, he can't dance for shit. His dance emote says it all.

If it's movie night? You know he cries his ass off at Titanic

He can't sing either, but he'll clear the feels out of the air by singing Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On"

It's horribly out of tune, but also just utterly charming that Genji's even trying.

As a nighttime routine, he has to plug himself in to a massive industrial charger on his side of the bed forcing him to lay on his back. (Not without giving you goodnight hugs and kisses)

While Genji can't move, you however, still can.

You can lay on his chest or hold his hand, his body heating up the bed and if you fear the dark, he's a ninja nightlight to chase the shadows.

A/N: While I hate playing against him, he is cute to write.

REVERSE SONAMY

I feel that there is a bit of confusion in regards to the ever-popular "Reverse Sonamy" trope fans are hoping to see in Sonic Movie 4. Every time I bring it up, I get this:

"Well, I want Sonic to like Amy, but I don't want her to be completely disinterested in Sonic!"

Actually, this isn't a misunderstanding of Reverse Sonamy. This is a misunderstanding of actual Sonamy. This is for one reason:

SONIC LIKES AMY. It is confirmed. It is teased, and the whole "dating" thing probably won't become canon until I'm 100, but Sonic being romantically interested in Amy IS a thing.

Reverse Sonamy is the same thing, but flipped. Sonic is more open about trying to gain the affections of Amy, who is interested, but is too shy/has more important things on her mind.

You huffed and laid your chin on his desk. Genji was always working and it wasn't even for the better. His eyes were so dark and overall, he looked like he needed a fifty year nap.

You tilted Genji's chin over so he could look at you and his gaze immediately softened.

"What?" he whispered.

"I'm tired."

"Then go to bed."

"Not without you." You sat up and moved the mask away from Genji's mouth. He hated the way his scars looked so much that he his his face even around you.

He tried to put it back on, but you grabbed his hands.

"Genji. We're both tired. Come to bed with me."

He thought about it for a minute looking between you and his computer screen. Finally, he sighed. "Okay." he said, shutting his computer.

You held Genji's hands and nearly dragged him up the stairs feeling just how tired he was due to how he was moving.

You both threw on something comfortable to sleep in and immediately wrapped each other in your arms.

"I love you, Genji." you said before bringing your lips to his.

You pulled away and noticed the huge smile across his face and he held you down on the bed and you both nearly attacked each other with kisses and giggles.

It didn't take long before you passed out in each other's arms.

Genji

Genji loves to go out, but in his Blackwatch era the days of arcade games and goofing off are at an all-time low

However, he loves to hike.

He feels in his time of getting used to a cybernetic body, he has lost touch with himself.

Being out in nature helps him find peace whereas being in Moira's lab cannot

He doesn't really camp and spend the night too often though with you he'll pack a couple hammocks and find a nice campground

He'll pull you in with him a set you in his lap and pull out a book all while having his arms around you

Occasionally if you're cuddled against his chest, he'll pull you up to kiss you, and he'll have his body cybernetics heat up to keep you warm if the day grows cold

Genji doesn't necessarily eat, but Angela made it so he's able to enjoy small amounts of food

This means S'mores!

He enjoys them, but he likes feeding you them and laughing at the chocolate and marshmallow mess on your face

you did the same to him and it was one of the first times you've heard him laugh whole heartedly and man was that a majestic feeling

On the side, another hobby he's picked up is wood carving

Genji loves to make little statues for you, whether it's of dragons or foxes and if you're lucky he'll make a little inscription

Doesn't really have technology, but he does own a Wii?

Wii sports date night with the cowboy who's weirdly good at Wii bowling

Cassidy jokingly calls himself a gamer, but even a junker with -1 braincell could see he's not

The moment you buy Mario kart Wii and beat him over and over he's on his KNEES begging to play something else

REFUSES TO PLAY RED DEAD REDEMPTION NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE GRAPHICS ARE

Like I said in other post, while He can't barbeque his specialty lies in making comfort foods like corn bread, BBQ beans, mashed potatoes, and a basic pan seared steak.

On days your sick he'll whip up a hot tomato bisque with some bread on the side

Cassidy would love if you'd join him in the kitchen, meal preparation is always a pain in the ass

Going out, another thing he likes to do is go to carnivals, though he hates rollercoasters of any kind

He just likes showing you all the cheats to the unwinnable games

Not because he's scared, he just gets sick on them very easy

ok fine he's scared, I tried to cover for him but no he's a scaredy cat

If the day is free and slow, he's totally ok with chilling at home and holding you on the couch

Beware his beard tickles you during most kisses

Such a weeb, and you'll know it after many nights in her lab

Watches anime while doing trivial experiments or documenting her results and she'll have you right there with her

When she goes home, she takes you with her and in all honesty she way too tired to cook so expect some take-out and a bottle of wine

Dinner is usually pretty animated; home is a place where she feels open to talk to you about her frustrations and excitements and she knows you'll listen and take to heart what she says

Make-out sessions with wine-stained lips, moira's pretty saucy milf don't sass me anon

Her corrupted hand pains her though she doesn't show it in front of others

Having you near her helps distract her form the pain ahd you and turn just puts some heat packs in the microwave and hold them against her arm

Occasional affection, but not much and that mostly stems from her fear of hurting you

Won't hesitate to kiss you though

Long chess matches, she likes to play wits against wits

insert another wine-stained make out session here after you lose a match

her haughtiness after a winning makes her this way

She loves to style hair; it helps her unwind and she's rather good at it

On the drive back he' gets drive thru and you two are laughing your asses of on the standup comedy radio

Gabriel occasionally takes you to this seaside cliff where he goes to contemplate and reflect on his decisions.

It's late at night and with the bags of fast food in his hand and a flashlight in the other he takes you to the top.

Once Gabe finds the spot, he finds the remnants of an old campfire and starts a fire and a couple worn plastic chairs are already set around the fire

You two are chowing down on fast food burgers and fries, and he reaches over with one arms and pulls you to his side

After finishing he puts out the fire and the stars become clearer than ever and looking over the cliff, the waves glow blue with bioluminescence

Gabriel smiles warmly at you and wraps an arm around your waist and brings his lips to yours

His kisses warm you up as the ocean breeze blows past the two of you
