This wasn't a request, just something I came up with on my own to start things off. :) --- You stand from afar outside of the base, watching him. Clouds covered the sky, and snow fell from above; lightly at first, then gradually more intense. It was the first snowfall of the year, and if it kept up, it might stick. For Genji, this was his first time experiencing snow in this body. He was wearing nothing but a black hoodie over his cybernetics. This wasn't an issue for him, he normally didn't wear any clothing at all. He didn't perceive heat and cold in the same way anymore. He stretched both of his arms out and flexed his hands gingerly. In his left still flesh arm; he felt what he expected. Cold particles brushing against it and turning to water on impact, a growing feeling of numbness the longer he stood there. In his right cybernetic arm however, he only felt a muted sensation. The sensors in his arm were telling his brain that something was making contact with it, but he didn't have the same sensations of wet and numbness that his left did. He kneels down and sticks his whole right hand into the layer of snow forming at the ground and keeps it there. It is only after he doesn't pull it back out again after several minutes that you finally decide to approach Genji. "How long are you going to do that for?" you ask. He finally gets up and turns to face you. He isn't surprised by your question, he knew you were watching him the entire time. "Until I feel what I should be feeling." came the matter of fact reply. "Does it help?" you ask as he flexes his cybernetic hand several more times. He scoffs, and then suddenly grabs both of your hands and takes them into his own. You flinch and recoil from the sensation, the feeling of cold is overwhelming. Just how long had he been out here for before you found him?
He rolls his eyes, as if you had just asked a question with an obvious answer. "No, it doesn't. If I was normal, I would react as you did. But I don't feel things the same way you do anymore. I don't even feel your hands on mine the same way." You look down, unsure of what to say. Genji continues. "But that's the point isn't it? I'm not meant to feel. I was rebuilt to be a weapon. The less I feel, the easier it is to do my job." "Don't... don't talk about yourself like that, please..." you beg. It wasn't the first time he had spoken of himself like that. Every time he did, you hated it. Hated how he dehumanized himself like that. "It's the truth, and every day proves that more and more." he responds coldly. He turns and begins walking away. You stand there for a moment, then chase after him and wrap your arms around him, placing your head against the back of his faceplate. The cold metal sends chills down your spine, but you hold firm. "What're you doing?!" he demanded, but didn't move to break away. You move your right arm up and begin to stroke his hair. "Can you feel that?" you ask. "... Mostly." "And how does it make you feel?" "Embarrassed." You move your left hand over his chest, attempting to feel his heartbeat. You find it. A steady rhythm that grows faster the longer you keep your hand there. "Weapons don't have hearts, Genji. They don't have emotions. You do. That's how I know you're still human inside. That's how you know you're still human." There's a silence between you two. You move your right hand back down and place it over your left, so that both hands are now over his heart area. After a while, Genji raises his left human hand puts it on top of yours. "I feel lost." he begins; "On missions, it's easy, my anger focuses me on the task at hand. But afterwards, in the quiet, I feel like I lose a part of myself every time. Like there's nothing else." You say nothing.
He turns to face you. For the first time that day, you get a good look at his eyes. Normally Genji looked angry all the time. The red tends to do that. But when you're this close, you see something more. Pain. "Some days you're the only thing that reminds me I'm still human." he finishes. "I'll be there to remind you every day if you want me to. You're as human as I am; as anybody else here is. There's more to you than killing. You just have to find it again." That kind of just came out. You felt unsure whether that was what he needed to hear, but you notice the muscles in his face relax. "Thank you." he says quietly. You respond with a smile, but you're unable to hold it for long. The biting wind causes your teeth to start chattering. You look away, and then turn back when you hear a slight chuckle. "Did you just laugh at me?" you ask playfully. "Perhaps." he responds in kind. Your face drops into a slight pout.
"Come, let's get back inside, you must be freezing." he continues. He offers you his human arm, which you take, and he gently leads you back towards warmth. There will be other bad days, you're sure of that. But for today, you feel like you legitimately made a difference to Genji. And he's grateful for it.
I did a post on my other blog about slow dancing, and I loved writing it, so I decided to write something like that here too. It turned more into a comfort thing though. It’s a holoform thing also, because I just felt like writing him as a human, so I’ll be tagging this as humanformers. I’m so glad I wrote something other than requests, it’s been a while since I did something like this. I’m gonna get back to the requests later this week though, so no worries
•You’d invited Optimus to your place for the night, because you just felt like you could both use some time together
•You ate dinner together, and had some wine, and he was pretty quiet the whole evening
•He doesn’t talk very much in the first place, but now even less for some reason
•When you had eaten, he collected all the dishes and piled them in the sink, but you noticed he sort of hovered next to the sink, like he didn’t know what to do
•You grabbed his hand and he turned to face you, he looked exhausted and so very stressed it made your heart ache
•You just ask him “Dance with me?” and he just nods
•You had had some melodic music playing very quietly in the background, so you pulled him closer and guided his hands to your waist
•Optimus is very tall, even in his holoform, so you’re about shoulder height to him
•You wrap your hand together behind his lower back and just hold him close, while starting to sway lightly
•You can feel his body being really tense, before he finally relaxes and exhales very deeply
•Optimus is resting his chin on top of your head and he has his eyes closed
•You know how stressed he is and you’re honestly surprised he hasn’t broken down in a while
•Now he’s just holding you like his life depends on it, he’s so scared for you every day, he knows the decepticons know about you and he knows how vindictive Megatron is
•You start to feel him shuddering while you hold each other, and you can hear him crying very quietly
• You try to pull back a bit to see his face, but he embraces you tighter and asks you not to pull away
•You just hug him back and stay in his arms, you’re not swaying to the music anymore, you’re just standing there, holding each other
•After a while he apologizes if he ruined your evening by crying, but you just place your hands on his cheeks gently and tell him that he never needs to apologize to you for something like that
•Optimus embraces you again, this time lifting your feet off the floor and just whispers a teary “thank you” into your ear
•You’re so very dear to him, you’re his light in all the darkness that is his life in the middle of the war he’s fighting
•He treasures moments like this with you so much, he would love it if he could spend his life with you, no war, no fear of you getting hurt by someone who hates him so much they’d relish in the pain your death would bring him
•Just him, with you, forever
could I ask for a one shot request of a cayde x f!reader with the prompt "Score for me. I'm up one!" "Where did you learn to count?! We're even." please owo?
Snail, I read this and I immediately thought of Cayde and the reader meeting up at a bar after a long day of work, paying darts, making bets, taking drinks, getting tipsy… just lots of fun vibes.
perma tag list : @mail-me-a-snail @shins-wife @speed-boop @threevie @squadnos @daggerthegamer @reaped-winnower @lady-efriyeet @eris-horn [for some reason it won’t let me tag you :c]
Saw you re-enter Tower airspace. Meet me at the bar? 20:00.
That message was from Cayde and you smiled to yourself as your Ghost read it off to you. The two of you met up regularly, it had been your ritual every day since the Red War, but you’d just stepped foot in the Last City after a three-day long mission. Needless to say, he missed you. And you missed him.
You didn’t even stop at your apartment to change. You wanted to see him so, so badly, you practically ran to meet him there. You went straight past the Postmaster and practically ran to the elevator that led down into the Last City. The air was warm with the coming summer when your feet hit the pavement. A short walk into the City later, you were shouldering your way through the door of one of the many local bars within a mile of the Tower. The moment the door closed behind you, Cayde-6 looked over his shoulder directly at you. His expression brightened; you smiled as you strode across the room towards him.
“There she is!” Cayde cheered as he pulled back a stool for you. “Come in, come in, take a seat. How’s my favorite Guardian doing?”
You laughed softly at his grandiose gestures. “I’m fine, Cayde,” you laughed. “A bit tired maybe. Happy to be home…”
Cayde ordered you a drink as you sat down on the barstool. “It’s been quiet here without you.”
“What are you saying, Cayde,” you teased, “did you miss me?”
Cayde chuckled as you took a sip of the drink that was placed in front of you. “What can I say? You take all of the excitement with you when you leave. Tower’s boring without you ‘round.”
You hummed softly as you leaned over and bumped your shoulder against his. “So, what’s the plan for tonight, Cayde? Or are you just going to keep feeding me drinks until I’m drunk?”
“Darts.”
“What?”
Cayde waved a hand out in front of your face and there were red and black darts between his fingers. “A good ol’ fashioned game of darts. Loser takes a shot.”
Your skeptical face slowly grew into a smile, and you downed the rest of the drink in front of you. “Alright, I’m game. I’m going to kick your ass though.”
The night went on, the drinks were flowing, the bar slowly grew more crowded and louder with music, chatter and laughter. You and Cayde had spent nearly three hours at the darts board, betting drinks, laughing, chatting, catching up. You twirled the dart in your fingers before balancing it between two and tossed it at the board. You cheered and hooted when it made its mark, though it wasn’t a bullseye, it was a high score. Alcohol had started to intoxicate your brain and you were tipsy. “Beat that one, Cayde!” You laughed as you leaned back against the table next to you.
“Oh I will, Guardian, this match is gonna be all mine, just you watch.”
He tossed his dart and it landed on the bullseye. He laughed and threw up his hands. “Score for me! I’m one up!”
You laughed as you walked back over to him. “Where did you learn how to count? We’re even. This is matchpoint, cowboy.” You picked up the last two darts and walked back over to the Exo to hand him his. “How ‘bout we throw at the same time, yeah?”
“Fine, fine, but this one is still mine,” he teased as he took the dart out of your hand.
“Mmm… I’d like to see that.”
You two leveled your arms and counted down from three, then tossed at the same time. And this time you hit the bullseye.
“Yes! Victory is mine!” You hooted as you jumped up in celebration. “Time for you to drink!”
Cayde laughed as he picked up a shot from the table and toasted to your victory before he downed the drink. “C’mon, Guardian, let’s get outta here.” Cayde’s hand placed gently on your back as the two of you walked out of the bar into the night air, which had grown nice and cool for a summer evening. Once you two were alone, his arm wrapped around your back and his hand rested on your hip.
“I had fun tonight,” you said softly. “I missed you. Ever since the war…” You sighed softly as you leaned your head on his shoulder. “I don’t like being away from you either.”
“It’s not easy on me, either,” Cayde admitted. “Zavala may have given me some more flexibility when it comes to leaving the Tower, but I worry when you’re out there without me.”
“Well then maybe you should come with me more often, I could use a partner.”
“Y/N, you’re one of the best the Vanguard has, you’re just sayin’ that so you can spend more time with me.”
You laughed. “Is that such a bad thing?”
“Not at all.” Cayde’s hand squeezed your side gently as he pressed his mouth piece against your forehead. The two of you were approaching the Tower elevator where you would part ways for the night so he could attend to his duties and you could get some rest. “Not at all, y/n.”

So we all know how weirdly antagonistic Haz is to Mercy. Ever think it's because he saw her as a saviour when he was younger, but got dissolutioned so hard by his accident that he began to grow a specific dislike for her? Like he was waiting in the hospital hoping that an angel would appear and make the pain go away, only for him to be abandoned by the system to suffer alone? I think about it.
Honestly, that's such a raw and compelling interpretation of Hazard's character. I could totally see it—he was probably at his lowest point, clinging to the hope that someone like her would swoop in and save him, like the angel of mercy that she is supposed to represent. Instead, he was left to rot in a broken system, and that betrayal might've cut deeper than any physical wound. It's not just a dislike for Mercy as a person; it's the shattering of an ideal she represented to not just him but possibly everyone.
Every time he sees her, it could be a reminder of the hope he once had—and the pain of realizing that hope was misplaced. It’s not just personal, it’s existential. Maybe that bitterness fuels his drive to rely on himself, even to a fault. That’s why the second voice line with him and her—
Mercy: Given the injuries you've sustained... you must be in an immense amount of pain.
Hazard: Let me guess: you want to poke and prod, make it all go away?
Mercy: Well, an examination certainly couldn't hurt.
Hazard: Examine all you like. It won't mend the harm you've done.
This exchange is brimming with tension and layered with resentment, it perfectly illustrates the fractured dynamic between them. His bitterness is palpable, but it’s not just anger—it’s deeply rooted disappointment.
When Mercy acknowledges his pain, her concern comes across as genuine, but to Hazard, it likely feels like empty words.
We had the songs that we sang along to
You had the moves to make me dance with you
I always saw you reaching and catching stars
I needed some self indulgent positive art.

(I hope you like this story, if it’s not the case, I can do it again :) You were a healer, and you had been tasked with taking care of Genji. Even if he was cold with you, you quickly love him. While he was in his room, and had left the door open, he had taken off his mask, you looked at it. “What are you doing ?” Genji asked, noticing your presence. “I’m sorry, I did not want to bother you,” you answered with a smile. “Go!” Genji slammed the door violently, which made you very sad. You were not surprised at his reaction, he was like that since his brother had killed him and joined Blackwatch after becoming a cyborg. No matter, tomorrow you were going to tell him what you felt. You were lucky that day, he did not train, seeing him walk in the corridors, you quickly approach. “Hello Genji” you said smiling. He does not say anything. “I would like to talk to you, if you have the time” you took a deep breath, you were afraid. “I would also like to talk to you” he finally said. “You first” The words took a long time to come out of your mouth, but you succeeded. “I love you!” You became red with shame. Genji was surprised, as you were about to leave so much you were ashamed, he took your hand. “That’s exactly what I wanted to say to you, I love you too, and I apologize for last night, I did not want to be mean to you …. I do not know what took me” You smiled, as he removed his mask, and kissed you quickly on the lips. From that moment, he only had eyes for you.

Meditating helped a lot in the journey, it helped them calm down a lot and think things through correctly, without regret or praise, just acceptance.
There were a lot of things they’d learned to accept already, but it’d nearly been a year since they came to the monastery.
There were still a lot of things they thought about with regret, things that would take a lot of time to accept but that was a normal thing, a thing that with steady process could be accepted.
