Simon and Izzy please
Honestly I knew they’ll be the first one to win but Jemma/Blackstairs was pretty close too! In fact Malec only won by 1.
But let’s be honest, which one of us doesn’t love a good Malec fanart sigh
Now we are in for round 2!
-comment or reblog with your suggestion
-it doesn’t have to be canon but if you’re being weird about it (incest, pedophilia etc.) you’re getting blocked and ofc it doesn’t count as a vote
-only ships with book characters from any book. I’ve never watched the show and don’t plan on it and I won’t draw anyone from there <3
-have fun and be nice to others!!
Nobody:
Simon biting Jace and Alec in TMI:
Simon lovelace headcannons because I'm a lovelace stan and very bored.
Just.. Simon and Alec and comic books. Thats all I'm gonna say.
Simon and izzy tease eachother 24/7. Teasing is izzy's love language and it became a thing they do.
Simon playing make believe with max and rafe (and showing them the wonderful world of pirates, wizards and knights)
A bit random but i think he'd very unironically listen to bohemian wapsody and just any wap remix.
Simon is a viner. Case closed.
Simon has a feminine side that just kicks in at certain times and its just the cutest. Izzy doing his makeup, painting his nails and simon braiding her hair.
Simons a surprisingly good cook
I always thought that he'd have problems discussing his emotions, or just bottle it up entirely until he breaks. Thats kinda the way he was portrayed in the books, not wanting to make himself a problem for others so it seemed to me that he was kinda depressed and not willing to show it (in my opinion).
Simon being really good at cards (again, random, but it seems to fit).
He's a lot better looking than he thinks he is
Anyways. I'm new here so idk if this is a standard post but here you go.
I need to see simon, jace and kit meet. My life is not complete until I get a scene with those three.
Okay but why is no one talking about the fact that Kit is basically what would happen if Jace and Simon had a baby.
Blonde and beautiful
With arrogance problem
But also nerdy af
Makes pop culture references no one else gets
Is annoyed by the stunning beauty of shadowhunters
Loathes exercising
Okay he’s maybe even a little more Simon than Jace
Hey, if you're a part of the tsc fandom then reblog with your comfort character(s)
Mines simon lovelace
Someone help me, it's 2 in the morning and I'm thinking about rereading Shadowhunter academy again.
something about Thule!Simon that I feel like we don't talk about enough (and I really hope gets brought up in canon) is that he's partially to blame for Thule existing at all. like he's not just this tragic passive figure who lost everyone he loves and is now doomed to roam forever alone, he's like. directly responsible for that happening. there is no Thule without Sebastian and there is Sebastian without Simon. because when he was presented with the choice between protecting the world or protecting Clary, he choose Clary. only in the end he doomed both the world and Clary, and everyone else he cared about.
also related to this is his last encountered with Janus, where he said something along the lines of "I'll kill you, Jace Herondale." but it's clearly not a threat he's ever followed through on. and the significance of the fact that all along killing Jace would have prevented everything. if Jace wasn't alive, he couldn't be the bargaining chip for Sebastian's life. if they had let the Clave kill Jace in order to kill Sebastian, there would have never been a war or an apocalyptic end of the world. Simon raised the angel Raziel in order to find a solution that would have saved Jace's life, and all that accomplished was him handing Clary a sword and her promptly getting killed for it. only after, when it's far far too late, is Simon willing to kill Jace. which again, he still didn't do because Janus is still alive, so maybe after everything Simon still can't do it. he still can't kill Jace Herondale.
Exactly! Creativity channels itself in so many different ways. If a character really speaks to you, if a story brings you excitement, then why shouldn't it be considered art when you express yourself through them? Why is this specific thing looked down apon, but when someone uses a model for their art it's not looked on the same way? It's likely because these characters and stories are already a creative channel of someone else. But no ideas have ever been born from nothing. Everything that exists is an adaptation of something existing. Did you know that every story follows the one of 36 plots? No story has ever been written outside of these plots. So why is every fiction writer held to such a high standard, when they're simply rewriting something that has been written thousands of times before? Fiction writing is no different from fanfiction writing. Fanfiction art is no different from art. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Do you ever think you'll stop drawing fanart? No offense it just seems like the kind of thing you're supposed to grow out of. I'm just curious what your plans/goals are since it isn't exactly an art form that people take seriously.
Ah, fanart. Also known as the art that girls make.
Sad, immature girls no one takes seriously. Girls who are taught that it’s shameful to be excited or passionate about anything, that it’s pathetic to gush about what attracts them, that it’s wrong to be a geek, that they should feel embarrassed about having a crush, that they’re not allowed to gaze or stare or wish or desire. Girls who need to grow out of it.
That’s the art you mean, right?
Because in my experience, when grown men make it, nobody calls it fanart. They just call it art. And everyone takes it very seriously.
anyway i just think that if simon dove into fantasy worlds as a way to cope with the grief and heaviness after his father died, and followed clary so readily into a real-life fantasy world in part because of his affinity for them, and then forgot about the reality he found among the fantastical, and then was reintroduced and found a new family that he established formative memories with only to lose one of those new cornerstone members of his life just as he's claiming the fantasy world as his own.. where is he to go from there. he can't escape back into reality when the reality of grief has caught up with him, here in this world so like the ones he'd learned to hide in as a kid.
Jocelyn's story
I need a fanfiction about Valentine and Jocelyn fighting over Luke, and Luke awkwardly tries to reconcile them, wondering when he managed to become such an important person that his two best friends fought over him.
I love this unhappy triangle of hopeless teenagers💔
there is a lot of elaine lewis takes circling around right now and i really wanted to add my 2 cents even if my thoughts aren't super coherent.
we know that she was neglectful and she suffered from depression and (possibly bipolar disorder but that's up for debate). she also is implied to be an alcoholic leaving becky to act as simons caretaker.
i dont think simon fully comprehended the gravity of her neglect until she accuses him of being a monster in book 4. i think its possible that he didnt want to think badly about her because of the grief of his dad's death. even afterwards he deludes himself into believing it
what i haven't seen though, is criticism of maryse lightwood. she is also a neglectful parent and its weird how this is brushed off. for christ sake she was part of a religious extremist group. obviously robert is the shittier parent (also the line where celine says robert reminds her of her own dad?? who tortured her?? why dont we talk about this??) but lets not pretend that makes maryse innocent. she was an unfit parent who left alec to parent her children. she never failed to make it obvious who her favourite children were (hint: not alec) and turns 13 yr old izzy into her therapist. all of which maryse acknowledges but does not take accountability for
i think people are willing to forgive her because she wasn't extremely homophobic but elaine and maryse are two sides of the same coin. neither of them were able to be good parents and used religion to traumatise their children.
