im 17, and in the 2 years ive been traveling around from doctor to doctor, i have only been truly listened to about my pain and my experiences with hypermobility and comorbidities maybe three times. thats 3 times, 3 doctors, out of around 13 doctors.
ive been told, to my face, that a mobility aid would probably help with my pain and maybe even my fatigue, but that no one would want to prescribe me one or suggest one, because they "didnt want me to become dependent" and that im young so ill be fine if i just do my exercises.
i take 8 prescriptions just to stay afloat. i am only capable of doing things approximately 3 hours out of the 16 that im technically awake. im not about to do anything crazy anyways, i just want to have less pain.
being young should never be the reason to withhold some form of aid.
There is no age limit on chronic pain. Just because you do not like to think about children being in pain does not mean they do not exist. They deserve to be believed and they deserve access to pain management.
wrong blog, nice to meet you, im a fool
i was wondering if u could draw ur favorite bird? (like animal bird not hero bird) my favorite bird is a tie between chickadees and waxwings! (im a bird enthusiast, and i absolutely adore ur art style) :)
Thank you! I wanna answer but I don’t know what it looks like? I hear it a lot but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it? The only thing I know is it makes a very distinct sound, kind of like: “agugh agugh agugh.” Maybe you could help me identify it?
This is getting on my fucking nerves, so I’m just going to say it here:
Adults who need high levels of support in daily living are not children.
“Mental age” is a concept rooted in eugenics, and it doesn’t actually exist.
No one should be robbed of agency or dignity because of their need for support. Oh, also, while we’re at it (since disability rights activism that doesn’t tackle age-related oppression is bullshit), kids deserve to be treated with respect too. Shouldn’t be a controversial statement, but it is.
Most people neglect to mention this, but if “being treated like a child” equates to “being robbed of agency and dignity,” there’s something fundamentally wrong with the way we treat children.
Just a reminder my blog is trans inclusive. It’s bi inclusive. It is pan inclusive. It is intersex inclusive. It is ace/asexual inclusive. It is aro/aromantic inclusive. It is queer inclusive.
I don’t support terfs or exclusionists.
If you came here looking for an ally in your bigotry you came to the wrong blog. Go away. You are not welcome here.
That is my active blog. This is my main blog cuz Tumblr is a little shit sometimes, but I will only use @woodwind-goddess from now on. This blog is the one that follows people and likes things, but it’s woodwind-goddess behind it all.
I keep seeing the idea that the Supreme Court is un-impeachable and it’s NOT TRUE. Supreme court justices can be impeached, and have. Samuel Chase was impeached in 1809. Abe Fortas resigned rather than be impeached in 1969. Fourteen other federal judges (also lifetime appointments) have also been impeached.
And there is grounds for impeachment for several of them. Lying to the Senate during your confirmation hearing is Federal Perjury. They have comitted public crimes.
Call your congresspeople. Let them know you want these criminals removed from their authority. They are not untouchable.
