Iceman: When I am rich *points at Slider* you're getting therapy, *points at Wolf* you're getting therapy, *points at Mav* you're getting double therapy. Everyone's HEALING.
Based on this:
At the beginning of the month,John/@starman-john-tracy came down to earth for a while, handing control of Thunderbird Five to Alan/@thespacenoodle. This all went horribly awry as Alan ended up catching influenza from overexertion (and far more trips home than John ever took), leading John, Scott and EOS to mount a rescue mission for him. (And subsequently quarantine the Island.)
When John came back, I doodled up a picture of EOS giving him a hug on his return, so it only feels natural to have her saying goodbye as well. In the thread, they’ll probably still be wearing helmets (since the disease is probably still floating around the interior) but this was a much clearer picture. Call it artistic license. The background is kind of meh, but in my defense, TB5 is hard to draw.
Iceman cannot start the day without coffee.
Maverick is not allowed to have coffee.
Halo and Omaha are deadly accurate.
They both have really great spacial awareness and insane reaction times, making both their flying and their aim razor sharp.
They lost dogfighting against Maverick because, well, he's Maverick, and they never made the target on time in training but, they had by far the best record of hitting the target. Mav just knew that, as good as they were, they wouldn't be able to make it that far.
@misanderousmisfit this was going to be super long and also I have a picture, so I decided just to make a post.
Okay, SO.
I just posted this gif with a new set, prompting @misanderousmisfit to say, "Wait how did I not notice that Mav takes his own wings and snaps them on the casket??!!!"
Then she asked for an explanation, and I am happy to provide one, not least of which because I actually already researched this and explained it to someone else like right after TGM came out.
What Maverick does with his wings at Ice's funeral is based on a tradition by the SEALs. Similar to naval aviators, Navy SEALs are given a specific pin that is unique to their role. Pilots have wings; the SEALs have what is called a Trident. It's a symbol not only of the group they belong to, but of all the work they had to do to acquire this specification.
When a SEAL team loses a member, the other members hammer their Tridents into the top of the casket. It's basically taking an incredibly valuable item and giving it to your friend as a sign of respect, and to show that a piece of you is going with him.
The reason they punch them into the casket like that is just to drive the metal into the wood, so the pins stay there.
Those are Maverick's wings. He is giving them to Ice to send a piece of him with him.
10. More Nix and Bob being awesome.
11. Halo! (She has two lines in the script. The other one was nothing special but I kinda wish they'd kept this one.)
12. Hondo attempting to befriend Cyclone 🤣
13. Mav annoying Cain.
14. "Ominous."
15. That's surprising mature from Hangman. I like seeing this side of his character.
16. And again. Sort of. (That's almost ownship of his mistake...?)
17. "Generous."
18. More Bob and Phoenix being a great team.
