Eating while on shift is not permitted, staff are told. “If the system detects no keyboard stroke and mouse click, it will show you as idle for that particular duration, and it will be reported to your supervisor. So please avoid hampering your productivity.”
A training video about the webcam system, seen by the Guardian, says it “monitors and tracks real-time employee behaviour and detects any violations to pre-set business rules, and sends real-time alerts to managers to take corrective actions immediately”.
Capitalism is so exhausting
Anyways when I was sixteen I wrote a story about a spaceship's communications officer (think Uhura) who was given a brain implant when he was a baby that automatically translates every language in the universe, but which interferes with his ability to perceive and process subtle changes in tone. He hears an emotionless automated translator voice inside his head rather than hearing the real voices being physically carried by air vibrations. So he has the ability to interpret every word in every language, but he can never interpret tone of voice. And the ultimate message of the story is that understanding every possible text isn't enough -- if you don't understand subtext, you'll be isolated. The "communications officer" actually struggles to communicate more than anyone else on the ship.
You'll never guess what they diagnosed me with a year later.
So I've been getting into doing art and I thought it would be fun to do fanart of Kiryu as a catboy. Anyway, his little patch-beard made me think of Frylock so now here's my WIP Masterpiece Behold Kazama "Frylock" Kiryu!
there's a weird misconception amongst some people that the problem with our society is that it's hedonistic and materialist. it's the opposite... nobody is having any fun and almost nobody owns anything
Sometimes just for fun I write little unhinged bits of improvised poetry that’s more about playing with how words sound than saying anything specific and often it’s like
“I don’t know but it flows even if it is so-so”
And anyway I just looked at one of them and remembered that I wrote the phrase
“Like a cat with a mouthful of bees”
this is your gentle reminder to stop fighting against your adhd and instead structure your life around it
buy a pack of chapsticks and put one in the pocket of all of your coats and jackets because you always forget to bring one and chapped lips is sensory hell
leave important things where you can see them. if they go in a box or a drawer you will forget they exist
put any appointments or deadlines in your phone calendar As Soon As you get them. set a reminder for a week before, a day before, an hour before, as many as you need as often as you need them.
when that little voice in your head says "i dont need to write that down, ill remember it" that is the devil talking!!! write it down anyway!!
plan for down time. have a few hours at the end of every day to just do fun stuff like engage in your hyperfixations. even if you didnt get all of your work done that day, have the rest anyway. you probably spent the whole day beating yourself up for not doing what you Should be doing, so you still need the break.
if you never eat vegetables because its too much effort to chop and cook them, get the frozen or canned shit. it doesnt go off for ages and you just have to microwave it. theres no point buying fresh vegetables if they just keep going off and being left to rot in the bottom of your fridge
if you struggle to decide what to have for dinner every day, take the decision out of it. choose a set of meals and eat those on rotation until you get sick of them, then choose some new ones and do it again.
its not stupid if it works! our brains literally have a chemical deficiency. you are allowed to accommodate yourself. go forth and stop making your life more difficult than it has to be because "this shouldn't be this hard". it is hard, so make it easier.
Friendo, I've been there. Unfortunately now I'm 32 and terrified
I used to be 21 but now I'm 24. so you can understand why I'm so freaked out
if you want your fictional society is to be less just world, but in new ways.
Sexist society that believes men are better; thus, views transmen as extremely valid, as unlike women, they have seen the light.
Gay men are honored, as with polygamy there is a continual shortage of women, and gay men means more women to go around. Lesbianism is seen as just something wives do sometimes. Transwomen are controversial because, on one hand, more women, but, on the other, some people suspect it is a scheme by fathers to have more daughters to get a bride price for.
Lesbians are controversial but only because they are seen as appropriating Amazonian culture. If you are over 6ft tall and strong, then it is okay.
Gay men are seen as too manly. That they are somehow stealing the manliness from the straight men. If woman are around them, they will somehow turn into men.
Society that "solved sexism" by dividing the world into short people and tall people and then assigning the short people to the former women's roles, and the tall people, to the men's. Now people are homophobic about two short people getting married.
people are afraid of people born in the same country as them. i.e. the opposite of xenophobia. This is homophobia. (this is what I thought homophobia was when I first saw the word)
people assume that men are gay because they have never seen a women before. People react very sympathetically to a gay man coming out because they assume it means they were locked away from society as a child.
sexist society loves trans-women because it means one less man vying political power.
