I was supposed to get one of the winning positions, but I did not participate because of the war because my mind is scattered and I am always in a state of chaos and worried for the sake of my family and my family. I'm of the opinion that both candidates should have been disqualified for different reasons on each. (That said, Biden is absolutely better than trump if just because he's less likely to try and abolish our civil rights.) On Trump's side there's literally all of the crime. He's been impeached twice, has connections to a failed insurrection, and is now a convicted felon. He should be disqualified hands down. On the Biden side, putting aside age or mental wellness (cause those are touchy issues and I don't know how I feel there), honestly I don't think former vice presidents or immediate family members of former presidents should be allowed to run for president.

Now... all of that aside what we really need is Ranked Choice Voting and the abolition of the Electoral College. I think those two things would cause a significant positive change in US Politics

appalachia is devastated. towns i loved, towns i visited all the time, are gone. not damaged, GONE. they are leveled to the ground. there is nothing left but rubble and ruin. people are dead. appalachia is poor to begin with and relies on tourism for a lot of its income, and multiple of those tourist locations are just...gone.

my town is okay, but it's flooded and wrecked. trees are blocking all but one way out of our neighborhood. power lines are hanging limp in the roads. we've been without power for over 24 hours and will continue to be without power for likely another 24+. disabled people and poor people are GOING to die from this. gods save appalachia.

My least favorite things about anti- UBI discourse is always the techbros whining that "nobody is going to work anymore! People will just watch Netflix all day!" and I have 2 responses:

1) Who the fuck cares. Who the fuck cares what people do with their time! That's kind of the fucking point!

2) People aren't going to stop laboring. Housework (look, it's right there in the word!) will still need to be done. So will maintenance on our homes and personal spaces. Children will still need carers, as will the elderly and disabled. There are millions of examples of ~work~ that we do all the time, uncompensated, that won't suddenly stop because we aren't forced to sell our labor to provide corporation's profits.

I'm not surprised that what is traditionally women's work is invisible to these dipshits, but it never fails to anger me.
