i wish there was a name for a kind of song thatâs catchy, upbeat, and worth dancing to, but also bittersweet and tinged with an unexplainable sadness.Â
the best i can describe it is âsongs you would put in an amv when a long series is over and youâre reminiscing on the journey while holding back sobsâ

It had been a month from dadâs birthday. A month of knowing that Pepper was pregnant. A month of knowing that Tony and Pepper were going to have a child that is 100% theirs. multi-chaptered
Destiny Fulfilled by @seek-rest (master list) and @blondsak (master list)
You all are really sleeping on this fic. It has TWO great authors and brought us the tag Peter Parker Acting as Miles Moralesâ Parental Figure. Every single relationship dynamic in this is great, and you get to see Peter run around and act like a mini-Tony and be completely clueless about it. READ IT.
Dumb Shit My Kid Says by @ardenskyedarcy221b (master list)
Exactly what the title says. Peter says dumb shit and Tony has to listen to it, because he just loves his kid. Itâs witty and hilarious and everything you need to brighten your day.Â
built from scraps by @peter-stank (master list)Â
This story is so beautiful and Iâve felt every emotion reading it. Itâs an AU, where Tony gets dusted instead of Peter, and Pepper takes Peter in, since May is gone too. I canât list my favorite things without spoilers, so Iâll just say it literally has everything good, will always surprise you, in the very best ways.Â
from the cradle to the grave by @tempestaurora (AO3)
An AU that explores how that events of the MCU would have gone down if Tony and Nat were siblings, and oh my god, their sibling relationship in this is just perfect. Their banter, their clear love for each other. Itâs beautiful. A work of art and canon.Â
A Beating Heart of Stone by @emeraldmoon (master list)
Probably one of the best villain Tony story Iâve ever read. Characters are complex and real, and Tony and Peterâs dynamic is super interesting.Â
one-shots
it traced us back (to where we began) by @blackwatchandromeda (master list)
A dead aunt may trope with a bio!irondad twist. Itâs so, so soft, and lovely, and everything good.Â
Spiders Donât Like The Dentist by @justmeâemily (master list)
Peter goes to the dentist and gets drugged up and loves Thor. You donât really need much else from a fic.Â
FFS: Fucking Flying Saucer by awesomesockes and @whumphoarder (master list)
Short but sweet, and so, so funny. Tony breaks his toe. Peter watches and eats cheese balls.Â
The Coparenting Protocol by @doctornineandthreequarters (AO3)
May and Tony coparent Peter when heâs caught breaking curfew and itâs his worse nightmare. Heâs hilariously confused and terrified.Â
Of Needles and Ice Cream by @forensicleaf (AO3)
Fluff, fluffy fluff and Peter is terrified of needles and Tony has to deal with that. Tagged as Peter is a Disney Princess and that alone is enough reason to read the fic.Â
broken playgrounds by @hailing-stars (ME) (masterlist)
This is probably the most heavy thing Iâve ever written. Skip Westcott works at Morganâs school. Peter has to decide what to do about that.Â
Never Meet Your Heroes by @camelot-queen (AO3)
Unless itâs Tony Stark. Focuses on Peter and Tonyâs relationship after Homecoming and before Infinity War. It has whump, it has angst, it has everything, go read it.Â
The World Stopped by @day-dreamer176 (master list)
Tony takes care of sick Peter and the tower gets attacked. Balances fluff and angst nicely. A must read.Â
series
Irondad Bingo @frostysunflowers (master list)
This series is just filled with so much goodness and fluff and it just so soft, every fic is worth reading ten times. My personal favorite is Wild horses couldnât drag me away for some good old hurt and drugged Peter and comforting dad Tony.Â
Tony and Peterâs Super Awesome, Totally Cool Baby-Sitting Adventures by @ironfamjam (master list)
MIT Tony babysits kid Peter. This series is everything to me. Guys, it has baby Tony and Rhodey being roommates. It has adorable kid Peter Parker. and in the the latest fic Worldâs Best Genius-Billionaire-Side it has teenaged Tony taking care of Peter while he has the flu. Itâs genius, really.Â

After the snap, the images portray a reformed hero in a formidable suit of iron with the power to topple a titan. The photographs and recordings that Peter gathers together paint an entirely different picture.
All That and a Side of Pop Culture - Five times Peterâs love of pop culture made Tony rolls his eyes, and one time it simply made him smile.Â

Any tips on how to make readers root for a character that's not the narrator?
Well, why have you ever rooted for characters other than the narrator? What have you read or heard from other people that makes them root for a character? Oftentimes a good chunk of an answer just takes a bit of introspection or listening.
Typically, readers root for characters that they find to have at least one of the qualifications:
Useful: Contributes positively to the story, either by helping others or driving it themselves.
Sympathetic: The character is understandable as a well rounded person.
Funny: Is amusing to readers.
Relatable: Readers can see parts of themselves in the character. A Reminder About âRelatableâ Characters (link embedded)
Admirable: Has generally good qualities, but does not have to be perfect. A realistic role model.
Interesting:Â The more they learn, the more people want to know more about them.
(This isnât a rigid list, but the qualifications are generally positive or entertaining)
None of those qualifications are restricted to only show-able in a narrator in any way, however a good part of ârootingâ for someone involves wanting them to achieve their goal. Not being the narrator, theyâre likely not the protagonist and therefore the main plot may not be about their goal. You can address that in a few ways:
Subplots: Give the character and their goal a subplot, however remember that subplots have to be related to the main plot and canât just be a character going off for unrelated reasons.Â
Aligned goals: By participating in the plot and alongside the protagonist, the characterâs goals can be worked toward, though itâs not the same as the protagâs.
Same goal: They have the same goal as the protag. (When using this option, make sure to give that character unique motivation. Being too similar to a protagonist in motive can decreases reader interest.)
Side stories: The character is allowed to have their own adventures, you just shouldnât be dedicating a lot of âscreen timeâ to them if they arenât directly plot involved.
In the most generic sense, you just want to write an interesting character. No, the reader is not going to be able to see their inner monologue, but they canât see most of any book charactersâ inner monologues and itâs rare for a reader to hate everyone but the narrator (unless theyâre all poorly written or thatâs the point).
You can still teach a reader about a character through: body language, description, dialogue, symbolism, actions, choices, etc.Â
Good luck with your character!

I feel like my characters cry too much. What are some ways to show their sadness and pain that doesn't involve crying so I can have some variety in their reactions?
- becoming really quiet/not wanting to speak much- staring at the ground, out the window, or vacant staring- slumped, defeated posture- closed posture (arms crossed or hugging self, standing apart from others)- frowning- resting head/chin on hand or burying head in folded arms on table- not laughing or smiling, or giving only half-hearted laughs or smiles- sagging posture/lack of motivation- sighing a lot- rubbing neck/chest - avoiding people or a certain situation- leaving the room or preferring isolation- sitting outside alone- seeming absent-minded when doing things- not finding comfort in things that usually bring joy
I hope that helps! :)

âI have an announcement to make,â Tony said, getting up from his chair and shushing everyone around him. He was situated at one head of the table, and some of the avengers noticed the empty spot to his left, but didnât question it. âTonight is a very special Avengers Family Dinnerâ˘, since we have a new member joining us. Underoos, please come out of wherever youâre hiding, please.â
When Mr. Stark finished his sentence, Peter did a backflip off the ceiling where he was hiding, and landed behind Tony, making a few people jump. His mentor smiled and stepped to the side, pushing the teenager in front for everybody to see.
He was a bit intimidated by the amount of eyes on him, but he still needed to introduce himself. He swallowed hard and started talking.
âUm⌠Hi, everyone. Iâm Peter Parker, but you might know me as Spider-man.â

you ever see a post that just fucks you up a little?
Writing is not always writing.
Writing is being on the train and mentally seeing your OCs stumble into other people, or flinching away from the germ-ridden handrails, or sleeping on each othersâ shoulders.
Writing is hearing a song on the radio and watching one of your scenes play out to the lyrics.
Writing is laying on your floor or sitting by your computer and spending hours collaging newspaper clippings or pictures or people or plants together and making something that is completely, uniquely, your story.
Writing is drawing your characters in your notebooks, and making tea only your one, picky character would drink, and writing an open letter to all your characters just to remind them you love them.
Writing is moodboards, and playlists, and crafts, and asks, and prompts, and pictures, and memories, and you.
So never think that just because youâre not putting words on a page, youâre not a real writer. Writing is something that follows you everywhere, beyond the word document, and beyond the screen.
Because writing isnât something you do. Itâs something you are.
^^ this... this is fucking beautiful
How To Get Work Done When Youâre 0.5 Seconds Away From Ending It All: A No-Nonsense Guide To School When You Feel Like Death
Important points are bolded for my fellow exhausted students. I see you and Iâm with you.
1. I know people have said otherwise, but studying from your bed is okay. I know how it feels to not want to get up. Sometimes sitting up in bed is the most you can do. Iâve found that getting dressed helps me feel a little more into it, but donât go out of your way to do it if itâll kill your vibe or make you uncomfy.
2. Honestly, if youâre not going to school, you probably shouldnât be getting up before 8 or 9. Thereâs a fuckton of studies that show that thatâs around when your brain actually wakes the hell up and is ready to take on the day. Donât force yourself to get up at the asscrack of dawn if you can avoid it.
3. Iâm probably gonna get shit for this, but itâs okay to skip class sometimes. Just make sure that you know what you need to do make up for it, have someone that can send you the notes, whatever.
4. For the love of god, eat. I donât care if you have a full breakfast, a bowl of cereal, or the junk food you have stashed in your room, or five saltines, just fucking eat so you can have something in your stomach. Just take my word for it.
5. You know whatâs trying to get you to be productive at all times? Capitalism. You know what also sucks major ass? Capitalism. Donât buy into it. Take breaks and take them often. If you need to tap out, do it, and anyone who disses you for it can suck it.
6. Fuck the âno zero daysâ mentality. If you need a day to recharge, or youâre just having a really shitty day, donât feel pressured to be âproductiveâ. If you feel like absolute hell, the most productive thing you can do is give yourself time to feel better. Please, please take my word for it.
7. I know you feel miserable. I do too. But if push comes to shove and youâve got deadlines coming up and youâre not ready, sometimes it all comes down to just sucking it up and getting it over with. However! It doesnât necessarily have to be top quality material. Why? Because a 50 or a 60 is still way fucking better than a zero.
1. Slader has answers for hundreds of textbooks across lots of subjects. Your book might not always be there, but if youâre lucky, it might save you a fuckton of time on that homework. Itâs a blessing. Just make sure you actually read over the answers so that you at least kinda understand them.
2. SparkNotes and Shmoop. For the love of god, donât just use one or the other. Use both. Shmoop gives easy, casual, quick-to-remember plot summaries, and SparkNotes gives good analysis so you look like you actually know what youâre talking about.
3. Try to have at least one person you can lean on in every class. Whether itâs to get help on homework or to vent about how much the class is killing you, I swear, it helps so much. If you can make a groupchat with people, the more the merrier.
4. Thereâs probably someone willing to just give you the homework answers, no questions asked. Most people get it. People understand when youâre tired and not into it. If thereâs a class youâre good in and you can help them out as well, then itâs even better, because thereâs a give-and-take.
5. If you have time during or in between classes, try to get a little homework done. I know the minute I get home, my motivation to do anything school-related drops 644747457%. Try to get a little done while youâre in the groove. Future you will fall to their knees in gratitude.
6. Find a comfort item you can bring to school with you. Doesnât matter what it is. Bonus points if you can wear it or if it fits in your pocket. Pick something that makes you feel a little better whenever you look at it or hold it. I wear jewelry dedicated to my gods, but it can really be anything.
7. I know people say that grades are just a number, and they really are, but if youâre like me and still stress over them anyways, for whatever reason, itâs okay. Just remember that someday in the future, there will be a time when that shitty grade will not matter and will never matter again. Youâll get to move on with your life, and no one will care that you failed some class or some test or whatever.
8. If someone is giving you hell for not liking or not being good at a certain class, tell them to fuck off and move on with your life.
I hope this post can help people like me who are this close to rock bottom but still need to muddle through. Please know that this too shall pass. Please stay alive today. Know that if any of you ever need anyone to talk to, Iâm right here.
