Author’s note: Well, here you have the second part of the story. It’ll probably have another one… Don’t know what you think about this one.
Masterlist / To Do List
“What happened, Y/N?” Steve asked for the second time as I looked through the small window that was in the kitchen. Beth was sleeping as Bucky. Or that was what I imagined because I hadn’t seen him around the house.
The truth was, I preferred it that way. After the conversation we’d had the night before, I didn’t want to see him or talk to him. In five years a lot of things had happened and although my feelings for him hadn’t changed, and they never would, his feelings for me did. Maybe I had made a mistake in the way I acted but I didn’t regret what I had done. As much as he said otherwise, Bucky wasn’t prepared to have a daughter and I couldn’t allow a person with a mental instability to be around her.
“If you don’t tell us what’s happening, we cannot help you.”
“It’s not as if you could help be being thousands of miles away, Steve” I spat. I knew I had been cold as soon as the words left my mouth. I pinched the bridge of my nose as I apologized. “I’m nervous. I didn’t know what to expect when I came here but I didn’t expect Bucky hating me.”
“You didn’t give him more options, Y/N. You left with his daughter. Whatever your reasons were, you left with a part of him. You can’t blame him for holding a grudge.
I hated that Steve was right because it made me rethink my actions.
“Don’t explain me what happened if you don’t want to, but explain it to someone. You can’t keep this inside of you forever.”
The conversation with Steve hadn’t gone how neither of us expected. He had called with the intention to discover what had happened with Martin and I had hoped he was calling to tell me he was coming home so I didn’t have to stay at Bucky’s.
I left the phone on the counter and I sighed. What was I going to do? How long would I have to stay with Bucky? When would I know it was safe to go? Was I going to have to move to another state, leave all my friends and family behind?
“Good mo–”
I tilted my head, meeting Bucky in the kitchen entrance with messy hair, with his blue eyes with traces of sleep and a with a frown. I followed the trajectory of his eyes to my right rib. The black tank top I was wearing had gotten up slightly, revealing the big bruise I had. I covered it with my shirt and I looked at Bucky with a fake smile.
“Coffee?”
“What is that?” he asked as he walked towards me.
I tried to pull away but Bucky grabbed my arm with his metal hand and lifted my shirt with the other. The touch of his fingers made a shiver ran through my spine, preventing me to breath normally.
“Tell me this isn’t the reason why you are here.”
I didn’t answer him and although I could have lied, I followed Steve’s advice. One day or another I would have to explain to someone what had happened with Martin.
“Son of a bitch,” he muttered. “Beth. Did he touch Beth?”
I shook my head. “I would have never allowed it. So he hit me.”
Bucky pressed his jaw tightly. He dropped my shirt and, for a moment, I thought he would hit something but he restrained himself.
“How many times?”
I was afraid to answer that question. From the outside, it all seemed very easy. If someone hit you, you had to leave as quickly as possible. But when it happened to you, you always expected a change.
“My answer will not change anything,” I finally answered. “You probably have a lot of things to say, like how stupid I was for being with someone like that. I know, you don’t need to tell me.”
“I wasn’t going to say anything,” Bucky said. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t think it.”
Bucky walked past me and picked up the coffee pot, thereby giving and end to the conversation. And, again, we were in an impasse, having nothing to say to each other.
I had to leave as soon as possible. Staying at Bucky’s was a danger for both of us because, at one time or another, we might explode. Too many feelings. To many things left unsaid.
Beth appeared in the kitchen before I could leave. Her brown hair was messy and her blue eyes half closed.
“Good morning, sweetheart. Did you sleep well?” I asked her as I picked her up and kissed her forehead. I felt Bucky’s eyes looking at us.
Beth nodded, she wasn’t very talkative in the morning. I left her on the floor and I asked her what she wanted for breakfast but she didn’t answer, probably because she hadn’t decided yet what her belly wanted. Finally, she decided she wanted a glass of milk and a muffin. Bucky took the moment to announce he was going to take a shower and my body relaxed instantly.
As she drank her glass of milk, I observed my daughter. If it wasn’t because she had my nose and my lips, I would have thought Beth was only Bucky’s daughter. It was his living image. I assumed that, for that reason, I still hadn’t forgotten about him. They were two drops of water; both were brave, determined and, sometimes, stubborn.
“Mommy, can I ask you something?”
I nodded as a smile appeared on my lips.
“Why does Bucky have a metal arm?”
“So you remember that one day I told you that we all had something that made us special?” Beth nodded. “The metal arm is what makes Bucky special. It allows him to be super strong. And he can lift anything with that arm!”
Beth opened her mouth, surprised and I laughed. Now that Bucky was in her life, I had to start answering questions.
“Can we go to the zoo, mommy?”
I gasped, not knowing what to say. Could we leave the house? I didn’t know if Martin was looking for me, as I didn’t know what the limits of that situation were.
When Beth saw I didn’t answer right away, she grew anxious. She looked at me intently and shifted in her seat, ready to explode if I said no. Kids, so adorable when they had what they wanted but so unbearable when they didn’t.
“I can take you to the zoo if you want.”
I lifted my head, finding Bucky leaned against the kitchen door, with his arms crossed over his chest and staring at me, as Beth had done seconds earlier. I could say no and end all that, and I could say yes and accept to spend a day with Bucky. Although it wasn’t what I wanted, I realized maybe Bucky wanted to spend a day with his daughter so I raised my arms in defeat and I said yes.
Beth screamed with excitement, got up from her chair, and came to hug me. She did the same with Bucky, who was stunned when Beth wrapped her small arms around him. And, as usual when she got excited, she started to speak quickly, tripping over her own words and making a plan of what they would see.
As I expected, the day at the zoo was exhausting but it was worth to see Beth enjoying so much. She ran back and forth, pointing to all the animals and making people laugh. At first, she was a bit shy with Bucky but when she saw I was getting tired, she took on of his hands and started running with him. And he was delighted with that.
A strange feeling ran through me when I saw them together and my mind flew to a place where it was forbidden to go since I had left his side five years ago.
How our life would have been if I had stayed with Bucky? I would have been scared twenty-four hours a day, as I was now. Steve had told me he had made a lot of progress, that the Winter Soldier hadn’t appeared for a long time. But Bucky was the Winter Soldier and if for some reason someone recited the ten magic words, we were in danger. Including Beth.
By mid afternoon, we decided to sit on a bench to eat ice cream. When Beth finished hers, she fell asleep on Bucky’s. He smiled softly as she took a few strands of hair from her forehead. After a few minutes in silence, Bucky ended the day by announcing that maybe it was better to leave.
Beth slept the whole way and when they reached Bucky’s apartment, Bucky asked if he could put her to bed. Although a part of me didn’t want to, I knew I had to start trusting Bucky. Like it or not, Bucky was her father and was now in her life.
“Okay,” I murmured.
Despite knowing I didn’t had to do it, I went to Beth’s room and I observed Bucky putting her in bed. My heart shrank with tenderness when he kissed her forehead and I turned around and I went to the kitchen when I felt the urge to cry.
I was no longer sure if what I did was the right thing to do. Maybe Bucky was right and everything that had happened to me since I had left was because I deserved it.
“I’m exhausted,” Bucky said as he entered the kitchen. I wiped the tears of my eyes and I turned to face him. On his face I could read the word satisfaction. He was satisfied, happy.
“She’s an earthquake,” I said.
“She’s like you,” he pointed out in a whisper as he opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of beer. I watched him for a few seconds in silence. “I’m sorry for what I told you the other day. Clearly I didn’t know what had happened. I would never think you deserved what he did to you.”
Hear those words didn’t help me. Maybe he didn’t think so but I had started to believe it.
“Beth thinks he is her father?”
By his tone, I knew he was afraid of the answer. From the beginning, I had thought of telling Beth that Martin wasn’t his real father but after thinking that would only bring me unceasing questions, I decided not to tell her the truth. At the end of the day, I thought Martin would be the one.
“Yes,” I finally replied. Bucky clenched his jaw. “I know what I have to do but I need time. Beth is a child and… I need time, Bucky.”
“Okay,” he answered surprising me.
He finished his beer and before leaving the kitchen, he said: “You can stay as long as you need. Tomorrow I’ll talk to Tony so he controls that guy.”
“Scott. Martin Scott,” I said offering him a name. “Thank you, Bucky.”
Bucky smiled slightly and left the kitchen, leaving me alone with my thoughts. How was I supposed to tell Beth the truth? How she would react? I was afraid of her reaction. Afraid that she hated me for lying to her. Just… Afraid.
Boss, Y/N. King T'Challa and Vision are at the door.“ FRIDAY says interrupting Tony and Y/N who were working on Rhodey’s leg braces. “T'Challa? What is he doing here? I thought he wasn’t coming back until next week.” Tony looked at you alarmed. ‘Let them in Dad.’ You sign at him before going back to the braces. “Let them in Fri”
“Kitty cat! What you doing back so early?” Tony asked T'Challa as he walked into the lab. “My sister Shuri is making me take a few days off as King.” T'Challa says before his eyes flickered over to you. “Who is this beautiful lady?” He smiled at you, causing you to blush and look back down at the braces.
Tony glared at T'Challa and stood in front of you so he couldn’t look at you. “That’s Y/N. My daughter. Who is off limits to you.” Tony growled. You smiled rolling your eyes behind Tony’s back. Vision smiled seeing Tony being overprotective.
“I just wanted her name Anthony.” T'Challa said. “Yeah right. Just know my baby girl is off limits. No flirting. No touching. No looking. No nothing. Stay away.” You threw your hands up from behind Tony. “Mr. Stark I believe Y/N is trying to get your attention.” Vision tells Tony.
“What is it kiddo?” Tony asked turning to you. ‘Can you stop being an overprotective ass and help me with this?’ You signed at him. “No. I’m not. I have to be.” Tony said as he helped you finish the braces. “Now your catness let’s talk while Vizh takes Y/N to Rhodes.” Tony says as Vision grabbed the braces leaving the lab with you.
'Vizh! He called me beautiful!“ You signed excitedly to Vision as you went to the elevator. "You look quite happy about that. Is that good?” You nodded. 'Yeah. Remember when you liked Wanda…well you still do. That’s how I feel about T'Challa. Since I first saw him.’
“A crush am I right?” You nodded. 'Yeah but unlike you and Wanda he doesn’t like me back.’ You signed. “Do you know that for sure?” Vision asked. 'Vizh he just met me. Plus who would like me? I’m a freaking mute. Shy as fuck. No one could like me.’ You say as the elevator stopped. Vision frowned, looking at you in concern. He did not understand why you would say anything like that. You were very beautiful and just because you couldn’t talk didn’t mean anything. He would talk to Rhodey or Miss. Potts later about this.
“Hey Y/N, Vizh. Where’s Tony?” Rhodey asked as you two walked into his room. “Mr. Stark is with King T'Challa.” Vision says as he sets down the braces on the bed.
“What’s he doing back so early?” Rhodey asked. “I do know but I will take my leave now. I will be back shortly.” Vision says before phrasing the ceiling. “He has to stop doing that and use doors.” Rhodey says causing you to chuckle silently.
….Later (Like three days)……
“I cannot believe he has the decency to flirt with my daughter. Every. Single. Day. Can you believe it Rhodes?” Tony ranted as he paced in the living room. “Tone. Y/N is eighteen. She isn’t a kid anymore. You knew this day would come.” Rhodey says from the couch.
“Y/N doesn’t like him. Right? Rhodey?” Tony asked looking at him. “Don’t know.” Rhodey shrugged. “You lie! Rhodey you know something. Tell me!” Tony pleaded sitting beside Rhodey.
“Tony it’s obvious. Everyone knows but you and T'Challa” “Wait….does Y/N my sweet precious baby girl like T'Challa?” Tony asked Rhodey who looked at the blank television screen. “Oh hell no! No chance in hell!” Tony jumped up from the couch.
“Tony. Leave the kids be. As long as Y/N’s happy that what really should matter.” Rhodey tells Tony. “FRIDAY pulls up the security fee of T'Challa and Y/N.”
A hologram appeared. You were laughing, smiling at T'Challa something you rarely did unless it was with Tony, Rhodey, Vision or the bots.
“Your a truly beautiful woman Y/N. I do not understand why you don’t see what I see.” T'Challa says as he lifts your chin up to look him in the eyes. Your face was beat red from blushing. “He better not or I swear I’m going t-” T'Challa leaned over and pressed his lips onto yours.
“I’m gonna fucking kill him!” Tony yelled grabbing one of his Iron Man hand gauntlets. “Tony! Calm down!” Rhodey yelled after Tony who ran to the elevator.
“I’m gonna roast your furry ass if you don’t get away from my daughter!” Tony yelled as he stormed out the elevator. You and T'Challa pulled apart embarrassed.
Tony fired up his repuslor aiming at T'Challa who jumped out the way. Your eyes widened as you watched your dad shoot at T'Challa.
“Keep your filthy hands off my daughter or else I’ll…” Tony trailed off as he watched crystals travel up his gauntlet powering it down. He looked up at you in shocked. You stood in your mutant form which you never used.
“Y/N…you’re….using your powers” Tony said shocked. You nodded. Transforming back to your normal form. 'Dad I’m eighteen not eight. I’m old enough to take care of myself. I know it’s hard to see that I’m grow up but this is reality. I’ll always be your little girl but I’m just not as little you know’ You sighed at Tony who sighed.
“Fine. But I’m watching you.” Tony said glaring at T'Challa. “Ask my daughter on a proper date.” T'Challa smiled. “Y/N would you like to go out on a date with me tomorrow night?” You nodded smiling at him. “I’ll be waiting with my iron man suit too.” Tony hissed. “Now baby girl can you get these crystals off of me?”
#37: “I know that you have reached a decision, but given that it is a stupid ass decision I have elected to ignore it”

You pressed your back against the rough bark of a thick tree as you tried to calm your heavy breathing. The shade from the trees above you did nothing to keep the hot July sun from overheating your skin and leaving you dehydrated.
“(Y/N)!” You jumped in shock as the comm in your ear startled you back into reality. You had been running for a while and hadn’t heard nor seen any of your fellow Avengers in what felt like ages. It came as no surprise that Tony was the one frantically hissing in your ear. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”
“You know damn well what I’m doing!” You were still slightly out of breath, but thankfully your comment still packed a punch.
“You mean going rogue?! Stick to the plan!”
“I know you have reached a decision, but given that it is a stupid ass decision I have elected to ignore it.”
“I have got to stop letting you spend so much time with Fury,” Tony sighed in frustration. You could practically hear his eyes rolling. “And it is not a stupid plan! Now get back here before you get shot!”
“I already told you I’m not coming back! Stick to your plan if you want to, but I’ll have no part of it!”
There was silence for a few moments. You couldn’t tell if he had given up or if he was on his way to drag you back by the ear.
“(Y/N)… Be careful okay? I love you. No matter what.” The sincerity in his voice touched your heart. It was a tone you rarely heard from Tony especially in such a high stress situation like this.
“Yeah dad. I love you too.”
~~~
You stayed behind the tree for a few more minutes before moving on and continuing to dart around the forest. It was bright as ever, but minus the random comm messages you would get from your team throughout the day it was mostly silent.
It had been about an hour and a half since you last heard anything when your dad started talking again, this time with an edge of defeat and sadness lacing his tone. “(Y/N)? Do you copy?”
“Dad what’s wrong?” You could feel your stomach drop at his tone and a chill run through your body despite the blistering heat.
“I know you didn’t want to be a part of this fight. I’m sorry that I dragged you into this, but your the only one left. (Y/N)…. I’ve been hit.” You let your head hang down as you screwed your eyes shut willing the last few words out of your dads lips to be a lie. “I… I know you love him but Steve has to be stopped. It’s for the best.” Hearing your dad say Steve’s name made your heart clench as you knew what you had to do.
“Dad you know I-”
“I can’t talk anymore (Y/N). Make me proud.” And with that last interruption Tony was gone. You were all alone in the forest. Well not alone. Out there somewhere was the man you loved. A man who needed to be stopped if everything was going to be okay.
~~~
It took you about a half hour to find Steve standing in a large clearing. His feet were spread, his shoulders squared, and his gun held tightly in his hands. The breeze pushed his golden hair gently to the side and the bright sun caused his eyes to squint in order to see. He looked like a god, but you knew what he was capable of.
You were crouched behind a bush debating what to do when your father’s last words echoed in your mind. ‘Make me proud’. Nodding to yourself as encouragement you stood up, gun ready to fire, and faced the blonde haired, blue eyed super soldier.
“Drop your weapon Steve!” Your voice was calm and even. Nothing like the quivering mess you felt like on the inside.
Steve’s lips tugged minutely at the corners as his bright eyes met yours. “I should have known it was going to be a Stark at the end. A Stark started this so it’s only fitting a Stark tries to finish it.”
“Tries to?” You quirked an eyebrow at his statement. “I’ve got you cornered babe.”
“True. But we both know you can’t do it (Y/N).”
There was a short pause as you took in his words before scoffing out a short “You wish,” and pulling the trigger on your gun.
Steve’s face turned to shock as the bullet hit him square in the chest. He fell dramatically to the ground clutching his wound and gasping out your name.
You rolled your eyes at his behavior before walking over to Steve and looking down at his now dirt covered form. “C’mon Steve get up. You’re getting all dirty.”
“I can’t. My fiancee just shot me in the chest and I’m dying.” Steve had on a puppy dog face and you knew exactly what was coming.
“You want me to kiss it all better don’t you?”
“Yes please,” Steve’s goofy smile brought one to your face as well as you held out your hand to help him up. When he was finally back on his feet you gave him a quick peck on the lips and started walking back towards the Avengers Base.
“Hey!” Steve called, picking up his dropped gun and walking after you. “You shot your own fiance in the chest and that’s the only get better kiss you’re gunna give him?”
“Steve you probably didn’t even feel that nerf bullet!” You chuckled at your fiance’s antics as he scoffed before grabbing you by the waist and pulling you in for another kiss.
“Doesn’t mean you didn’t shoot me.” Steve moved his arm to drape across your shoulders while you let yours hug him around his waist. You were still making your way back to the base. You were sure by this point the rest of your teammates were getting antsy to see who came home victorious.
“Well you said I couldn’t and you know it’s a hobby of mine to prove you wrong.”
“Yeah I probably shouldn’t have done that.”
“Nope.”
“You know your dad is going to hold this over my head for the rest of our lives rights?”
“Awww. Probably.”
“Well at least it wasn’t over anything important…”
You halt in your tracks giving Steve an incredulous look. “Nothing important? Steven Grant Rogers you and my father just dragged every last one of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes into the forest to shoot each other with nerf guns as a way to decide who got to play their Spotify album in the gym. If you don’t care next time don’t make me spend so much time running around the damned forest!” You gave a huff as you detached yourself from his side and started walking faster towards the base.
“Aw c’mon babe! Don’t be like that! I’m sorry! I love you!”
You threw up your hand, middle finger waving proudly as your muttered to yourself. “Next time those two want to butt heads they better not try to drag my ass into it.”

Imagine being Wade’s best friend who he’s secretly in love with, but you’re dating this other asshole guy who winds up stepping out of line with you, so Wade puts him in his place before confessing his feelings to you.

“Get out of here!” Wade gives what was probably now your ex-boyfriend a shove as he points towards your front door angrily. Your ex hesitates for just a moment, until Wade continues, “Don’t make me fuck that butterface of yours up more than God already has!”
“You’re going to regret this,” he shouts before storming out.
“Keep talking, fuckboy,” Wade calls after him, before he quickly turns towards you once the jerk is out of sight. “Hey, are you okay?” he begins, and you give a wary nod, still shaken by the events of the night.
“I think so. Thanks, Wade. If you hadn’t been here—” he cuts you off with a wave of the hand that soon comes to rest on your shoulder, pulling you closer into his embrace.
“Yeah, well, your hero has come, so no need to worry about that asshat anymore.”
You hug him back, “Sorry for dragging you into this.”
“It’s cool, ‘cause I kind of love you, you know,” pulling back just a little, Wade continues, “Plus, it’s almost like the author of this story had no idea how else to get me in this situation.”
Reader is in love with Bucky but is too afraid to tell him until it’s too late.
Word Count: 3081 (dang)
A/N: I thought this was pretty crappy but oh well, hopefully you enjoy! (There are a few curse words in there but that’s about it.)
“Hey let’s do something today,” Bucky said, closing his laptop.
“I thought we agreed that we can’t do anything fun today because I have an essay to write and you have to complete your mission report,” you replied.
“Yeah well, I’m kind of over it, and I’m not really in the mood to finish this anyways. Plus I really want to spend time with my best friend. Let’s go get some ice cream and watch a movie!” he exclaimed.
You smiled at his childness before closing your laptop. “Sounds like a great idea.”
“Yes!” he said with excitement while closing his laptop.
You always admired his personality and how he could be so joyful after everything that had happened to him. You remembered the first day you met Bucky, he was so nervous to even touch you, afraid that he would hurt you like he hurt all those people before. You remembered the first time you heard Bucky laugh genuinely causing you to laugh along with him. You remembered the first night Bucky woke up screaming from a nightmare, sweat dripping down his face, his breaths uneven, and his hands clutching onto the bed sheets causing his knuckles to become white. You remembered hearing his cry causing you to jolt out of bed and rush to his side immediately, comforting him until his breathing went back to normal, until he was no longer shaking. You remembered those times where he couldn’t sleep and insisted that you stay with him resulting in you playing with his hair and sharing about your day at University.
You remembered every single moment with him causing you to fall in love with him a little bit more each time. You knew you should tell him your true feelings, but you knew he didn’t like you the same way. Your friendship was more important than your true feelings.
“See you in five,” Bucky said as he walked out of your room with a huge smile on his face.
You laughed silently to yourself as you prepared yourself for an awesome day with your best friend.
A couple of days later, you and the rest of the team were invited to yet another party hosted by Stark, the only difference was, Bucky was escorting a girl. She was tall and thin with long brown hair and brown eyes. She smiled at everyone as she met the entire team.
“And last but certainly not least, my best friend, (Y/N). (Y/N) this is Megan, my girlfriend.”
“Oh my goodness, Bucky talks about you all of the time! I’m glad to finally meet you,“ she said shaking your hand.
“Likewise,” you said with a small smile.
“Well, I’m going to go get a drink, I’ll be right back,” Megan said before heading to the bar.
“She’s pretty,” you said just loud enough for Bucky to hear.
“I know, she’s absolutely amazing (Y/N), she’s everything I want in a woman. I know you’ll love her too,” he said with a huge smile on his face.
You smiled back, concealing the pain that was coming from your heart breaking into a million pieces. You watched as Bucky walked back to his girlfriend who was waiting for him with a glass.
“You should tell him you know?” Steve said leaning against the table beside you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you replied quickly, fixing your dress.
“(Y/N), you know exactly what I mean.”
“I can’t tell him now!” you exclaimed, “I mean just look at him,” you said pointing at Bucky’s direction, “he looks so happy.”
“I know, but he deserves to know,” Steve said beginning to walk away from the table, “and if it means anything, I think you’re a much better match for him,” he whispered before walking away.
You smiled to yourself before returning your attention back to the party.
Before you knew it, months had passed, and Bucky was still together with Megan. You were surprised knowing how quickly he would move one girl to another. Your heart started to break little by little as you heard him talk about just how amazing Megan was or how Megan was absolutely perfect for him.
You remembered the time Megan had moved into the tower nearly redecorating every room to her desire. Pictures of the two of them began to pop up in the living room and the dining room making your heart clench in your chest.
You remembered the first night Bucky had a nightmare when Megan was in the building. You remembered how you shot out of bed like it was a natural instinct, however by the time you reached his room, you saw Megan by his side comforting him. You froze realizing you were no longer the only one who could comfort him after a nightmare. You felt tears building up in your eyes, jealousy and bits of anger filling your mind.
You decided to let out your frustration by going down to the training room and punching the shit out of a punching bag. You neglected to tape your hands, hoping that the pain would take your mind off of your aching heart.
With every blow against the bag, your reflected on each event you had with Bucky causing you to only become more angry. After what felt like hours, you stopped, your breaths shortening as your forehead leaned against the bag.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” you heard Bucky ask from behind you.
You shook your head, not wanting to face him. “Why are you up? Shouldn’t you be asleep with Megan?” you asked getting some water while avoiding his gaze.
“I had another nightmare,” he said softly.
You stopped what you were doing before replying, “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
“You don’t have to lie, I saw you at my door. Why are you avoiding me?” he asked making his way towards you.
“I’m not avoiding you Bucky,” you said quietly, facing him.
“Bullshit, did I do something wrong? I miss you,” he pleaded grabbing your hand.
You felt sparks as his hand clung to yours so naturally, your guys’ hands fit perfectly together.
“Nothing,” you finally replied, “You did nothing wrong. I just have a lot on my mind right now.”
“You want to talk about it?” he asked, his eyes searching for yours.
You finally looked up into his eyes, your heart shattering into a million pieces. You felt your eyes beginning to water before you replied, “I can’t do this,” and walking out of the room leaving both a confused and hurt Bucky behind.
Ever since that encounter, you decided to move out of the tower and into your own apartment, you couldn’t bare to see the couple walking around everyday.
“Do you have to go?” you heard Bucky ask from the doorway of your empty room.
“Yeah, I need to be on my own for a little bit and figure this out by myself.”
You grabbed the last of your belongings and walked towards Bucky who had a sad look on his face. Your heart broke even more but you knew it was the right thing for the both of you.
“You promise you’ll talk about it when you’re ready?”
You froze, you didn’t know if you’ll ever be ready. You decided to lie in order to calm some of his nerves by nodding with a small smile on your face.
“I’ll only be a couple of blocks away, it’s not like I am moving half way across the world or anything,” you said trying to lighten up the mood.
You couldn’t bear to see Bucky like this.
He smiled softly before pulling you into a hug, “See you around best friend,” he mumbled into your hair.
“See you,” you said before leaving his embrace and leaving the tower.
Years had past and although you and Bucky were still friends, your relationship with each other was holding on by a thread. You began to become more distant, not just with him but with the entire team. You would occasionally meet up with him for coffee but your guys’ meeting would only last for about an hour until you had to make an excuse to leave.
Suddenly one day as you were sorting out your mail that evening, you received a letter in beautiful handwriting. You opened it, automatically regretting that decision. The letter in your hand was actually an invitation…an invitation to Bucky and Megan’s wedding.
You didn’t even know they were engaged.
“Why didn’t he tell me?” you said to yourself.
You quickly picked up your phone and called Bucky, part of you wanting to tell him your true feelings, part of you wanting to tell him that this was a mistake and that Megan wasn’t the one for him…that you were. However, once you heard Bucky’s voice answer, “hello?” all of your thoughts about telling him the truth disappeared.
“Hi Bucky,” you started quietly.
“(Y/N), how are you?” he asked, slightly surprised that you were calling him.
“I just uh,” you froze debating whether or not to tell him the truth, “I wanted to tell you I got the invitation. Congratulations, why didn’t you tell me?” you asked.
“I was going to but we weren’t necessarily on good terms.”
“Oh,” you replied quietly, “Well, I want to let you know that I will be attending. Thank you for inviting me.”
“Of course, I couldn’t not have my best friend at my wedding,” he said chuckling.
You felt your heart shatter once again before you said, “Well all right then, I’ll see you around.”
“See you,” Bucky replied before hanging up the phone.
The moment you set your phone down you started to sob, you knew it was too late to tell him about your true feelings. You sunk down to the floor, leaning against the counter top in your kitchen with your head in your hands.
“Why didn’t I tell him sooner?” you asked yourself.
The day you dreaded finally came where you had to put on your best fake smile and act like everything was okay. You had a plan, after the ceremony, you were going to leave and stay with your sibling. Your stuff was all packed and ready to go, all you had to do was wait for the “I do’s” and then you would leave this life behind you, forever.
As you were shrugging your raincoat off of your shoulders, you ran into Steve who was walking around greeting guests for Bucky. “(Y/N)!” Steve said before giving you a hug, “How are you?” he asked sympathetically.
“I’ve been better,” you said quietly, “I’m leaving for good after today. I thought you should know.”
“What? You can’t just leave, we need you (Y/N).”
“I can’t keep living like this, I already missed my chance to tell him how I truly felt and now I’m here at his wedding! My heart breaks every time I see him now and I just can’t do it anymore,” you said, tears threatening to spill from your eyes.
“You should tell him,” he said.
“I can’t tell him now! He’s about to get married!” you exclaimed.
“(Y/N), he deserves to know, besides you’ll be leaving all of this behind you. Just write a letter or something and slip it into his room once he leaves.”
“But I-” you started, immediately being cut off.
“(Y/N), it’s the right thing to do,” Steve said.
You sighed and nodded, giving into his advice before searching for a notepad and pen. Once you were able to get your supplies, you sat down and began to write down your thoughts.
Once you were done, you decided to head to the room where Bucky was getting ready. Bucky was surprised to see you there.
“How are you feeling?” you asked as Bucky was putting on his tie.
“I don’t know, there’s a part of me that’s telling me this is wrong. But it isn’t, right?”
You froze at his words, could it be that he had feelings for you as well? No, there’s no way. You snapped out of your thoughts before replying, “It’s probably the nerves that comes with getting married.”
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” he mumbled, struggling to tie his tie.
“Here, let me help,” you said rushing up to Bucky and using your slim fingers to tie the tie perfectly around his neck.
“Thanks,” he said, smiling.
“Buck!” Steve said barging into the room.
Steve smiled at you before saying, “It’s time.”
“I’ll be out there in a sec,” he replied, Steve nodding at his response and leaving.
“You ready to become a married man?” you asked, your voice slightly cracking from the tears threatening to spill from your eyes.
“I think so, what’s that?” he asked referring to the piece of paper in your hand.
“Oh nothing you need to worry about,” you said quickly slipping it into your purse.
Bucky sighed, straightening his suit and saying, “Time to become a married man,” repeating your words with a smile.
You smiled back before pulling him into a hug, “Good luck,” you whispered laughing slightly.
Bucky smiled before leaving you behind in the room. You pulled the piece of paper out of your purse again and stared at it for a long minute. You sighed and said to yourself, “It’s for the best,” before leaving it on the table by the mirror.
You quickly left the room and took a seat in the chapel next to the rest of the team. Little did you know that Bucky, being the forgetful person that he was, had forgotten his vows and had returned to his room moments after you had left.
He quickly grabbed what he needed before his eyes landed on your letter on the table. His name was written in the most beautiful handwriting. He smiled taking the letter of of the table and opening, assuming it was from his wife to be telling him how excited she was to become Mrs. Barnes.
However, it was exactly the opposite. As he read the letter in your recognizable handwriting, he froze.
Dearest Bucky,
I know that now is probably the worst time to tell you this but I thought you should know. For the past 7 years I’ve known you, I have loved you and I still am. I am truly, madly, deeply in love with you and it hurts. I loved you so much that I didn’t want to jeopardize our friendship by telling you my true feelings. All of those memories we shared together are ones that I will treasure forever. I hope you have a great life with Megan, I know she will be the perfect wife for you.
Love,
(Y/N)
Bucky froze, he couldn’t believe his eyes, how could he have been so blind? He sat down on the chair by the door, his head spinning, questions running through his had at a million miles an hour. The one question that kept popping up in his head was, who do I really love?
Suddenly, your face appeared in his head, your smile which always lit up the room, the light in your eyes illuminating your face always causing him to smile as well. All of those nights where he couldn’t sleep, you were there, all of those nights where he would wake up screaming, you were there to help him, to comfort him.
“How could I have been so stupid?” he asked himself, “I have to call the wedding off.”
“Bucky!” he heard Steve yell from the hall way.
Bucky quickly ran out, running into Steve who had a strong grip on his shoulders, “Let go of me,” he said trying to get out of his grasp.
“You have to go! Everyone’s waiting for you.” Steve exclaimed dragging him towards the chapel.
“No you don’t understand!” Bucky replied, fighting his grasp.
“It’s just your nerves talking,” Steve replied, barging into the chapel with Bucky in hand.
Bucky quickly turned to Steve, “No, you don’t understand, I have to call the wedding off.”
“What do you mean call the wedding off?” Steve asked, “You’re just nervous now get up there!” he replied pushing him up to the arch.
Bucky cursed himself as he fidgeted where he was standing. His eyes scanned the crowd before they fell on your eyes. Your eyes were filled with such sadness that he had now just realized. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you, the way you sat in your dress. Before he knew it, Megan was standing in front of him, a huge smile on her face.
His heart broke, he couldn’t hurt her, but he would be living a lie. “I do,” Megan said with such certainty.
You grabbed your bag, ready to make a quick exit, ready to leave all of the pain behind. You waited for the words to slip from his lips.
“I’m sorry, I just can’t,” you heard Bucky said.
You froze, staring at Bucky, his eyes automatically meeting yours. The rest of the guests gasped in shock and whisper, but all you could focus on was Bucky. You shook your head before grabbing your bag and running out of the chapel, running away from everyone. You ran out into the pouring rain now caring about your dress getting ruined, or your makeup smearing down your face.
But before you could reach the car that you arrived in, you felt a hand wrap around your wrist stopping you in your tracks. You knew exactly who it was, but you didn’t dare look at his face.
Bucky turned you around to face him, the rain mixed with your tears making your makeup run down your face. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Bucky asked softly, his warm breath fanning your face.
“I was too scared,” you choked out, “you weren’t supposed to read it until after, this isn’t right,” you whispered trying to run off again.
Bucky kept his grip on your wrist refraining you from turning away. “No, I’m not going to lose you again, please stay. I’m sorry for not noticing, I’m sorry for not realizing you were in pain, I’m sorry for not realizing I loved you as well. You’ve always been there for me, supporting me, caring for me, and I broke your heart in return. I’m sorry, just please stay so I can fix my mistakes, so I can make things better between us. I love you.”

Your heart was beating hard against your chest, adrenaline rushing through your body and you tried to be as quiet as you could while making sure that no enemies were in sight. ‘’All clear’’ you said over your earpiece and you lowered you gun slightly, feeling a little bit of relief. You instructions had been clear, stay together and clear the area, but you had an instinct that there was more to gain from this mission than was originally planned.
You glanced over at Bucky before taking a deep breath as you pondered over the decision you were about to make. ‘’We should get going Y/N’’ Bucky said, gesturing down the hallway behind him ‘’there’s nothing down here’’ he gave you a small smile.

ACOTAR MASTERLST
My arms were pinned above my head with Xavier’s hand gripping both of my wrists tightly. I writhed under him as he pawed at me. “Dolls, don’t move this much.” With his free hand he gripped my neck and forced his tongue down my throat as he pressed his length against me. Tears warmed my cheeks as my moan of agony was swallowed up by his mouth. “Shhh. It’s alright, it’ll be over soon.” He whispered over my lips as he slanted them down over mine again and I began to squirm. Xavier released the grip of my neck, his leather clad finger touching down my naked body. Until he reached my clit, and I gasped causing him to slither his tongue into my locking me tightly into place as he began to play with me like a toy.
I kept my eyes open as his disheveled blond hair fell forward from his face and tickled my collarbone. He moaned in my mouth as he slid a digit inside me, and I tried kicking my legs. Only the sharp sting of his hand against my core caused me to pause. “Stay still or I will get the spreader bar.” His blue eyes bore into mine with a seriousness that chilled my blood. “Do you understand?”
I steadied a breath, “Yes sir.”
He smiled, kissing me again, the feeling of his mouth on mine made me feel dirty and made me want to shrink into myself. Having enough I bit down on his bottom lip hard. He released me and I rose to my feet and tried to flee. His hand gripped my hair and I screamed, “No!” As Xavier yanked me back and forced me to my knees. “Get off me!” I shrieked.
“Let’s fix that mouth of yours, shall we?” He pressed the tip of his cock against my lips, the precum coating them, He released my hair only to pinch my nose. It didn’t take very long for my lungs to cry out for air, and I opened my mouth. Before he could do anything, a growl emulated from the corner, “Do not touch her.” Cassian’s voice grounded out. His siphons were the only thing I could distinguish as my vision was beginning to go out of focus.
Cassian had come for me, and when I turned to see him, silver glimmered in the illumination of the moonlight, and I screamed but it was too late. Graysen had taken the steel and sliced Cassian’s wings. “Cassian!” I cried out as the assault to his beautiful wings continued. I reached out for him only for Xavier to loop his arm around my waist. “Cassian!” He groaned on the floor, blood pooling underneath him. As I made another attempt to reach out to him. To have my fingertips reach his. “Please wake up, please wake up, Cassian.” I sobbed.
Bolting awake sweat raced down my back and face as I took in my surroundings, realizing I was in my room in the cabin and not in human lands. A little voice in the back of my mind kept saying:
Find him. Find him. Find him.
Rising from my bed I padded my way to the door to go find the General of the Night Courts Armies.
Cassian’s POV
Screams erupted all around me as my brothers and I raided the camp in search of my mother. Her screams flooded the camp, and I locked eyes with Rhysand and with a dip of his chin I bolted to the sound of her screams. My lungs were burning as I pushed myself to run faster thought my mother's screams were still so far from me. The night breeze pierced my skin as I pushed forward as the outline of the camp came into view.
As I entered the threshold of the camp another bloodcurdling scream rang through the camp, no one stirred, no one came to her aid. Weaving through the makeshift cabins the silhouette of male and a kneeling female caught the corner of my gaze. I changed course and headed in the direction where my mother’s beautiful face came into view. Terror consumed her features as tears ran down her face. “I’m sorry, my sweet boy.” Her voice cracked and Cassian collapsed to his knees. Mother pulled his face close to hers, “Look at how you’ve grown, Sweetheart. I’m so proud of you.” She connected her forehead to mine, and I shut my eyes and took in her scent of snow and wildflowers.
“Cassian.” The voice caused my eyes to shoot open, and no longer was my mother’s eyes looking back at me but the familiar hues of Y/N. “Cass.” Her voice was shaky, and her fear was palpable.
I felt arms loop around mine and angrily yanking me back from the youngest Archeron sister, “No! Get off me!” I thrashed as the two Illyrians pulled me away and the male that was behind Y/N lifted his battle Axe. My siphons roared to life and red power blasted from my body. The two warriors release me and I bolt toward, Y/N as the Axe slices through her neck.
I fall to my knees as the assassin drops the axe, “Long live the queen.” The male murmured barely falling to my ears as the gruesome scene laid bare in front of me.
I could feel the presence of my brothers as they approached and my tears turned into sobs as I lifted the body close to mine, Ignoring the fact her head was not attached and sobbed.
I bolted awake, sweat coating my skin and along my hair line. Pulling my hair up in a bun I sat at the edge of my bed trying to catch my breath. It took a few minutes before I took in my surroundings and realized that I was in the Cabin. Y/N’s room was right next to mine and just needing her in my arms I stood up and headed to find her.
Opening my door, I stepped out to find Y/N emerging from her room. Her face met mine and I could see the tear-soaked cheeks and her gaze met mine. “Hey.” She said tucking her bottom lip between her lips.
“Hey, you.” I gave her a small smile; I rubbed the back of my neck. “I was actually coming to find you.
“Oh?” She gave me a small tilt of her lips upward. “I was coming to find you too.”
Something warmed my chest at her words, and I held out my hand, “Come on, Princess.”
Y/N hesitated, then in a flash she slapped my hand away and wrapped her arms around my waist. Pressing her face into my chest. I heard her release a soft sigh as I coiled my arms around her. “I had a terrible dream.” She murmured.
I pressed my chin to the top of her head taking the scent in. She was here, she was alive, she was in my arms. “Me too,” my hand slides up her back and runs through her hair.
She sniffled and my body went rigid, “Graysen chopped your wings.” She whispered. She pulled back to look at them, her gaze was assessing, and I stilled as I realized she was checking for injuries.
I stroked my thumb against her cheek grabbing her attention, her eyes filled with worry. “I’m okay, Princess, I flexed my wings so she can see they are uninjured. “My wings are perfectly fine.”
Y/N nodded, “What about you? You said you also had a nightmare,” Her voice a soft whisper and she gripped my hand, her soft fingers a stark contrast my calloused ones.
“I’m alright.” Her brows furrowed causing a little indent on her forehead. I leaned down pressing my lips where that crease resided and pulled away. Satisfaction bloomed in me as her face relaxed slightly, the wrinkles disappeared. I took her hand in my own and I quietly led her back to my room.
“Cassian What are you doing?” She questioned me as I opened my door.
“You have ruined my sleep schedule, Princess. If it’s alright with you, I would like you in my bed.” Her cheeks tinted with the lightest shade of pink though panic enraptured her eyes, as if she was going back to a memory with Xavier. I tugged her hand lightly, “Hey no,” I leaned down to meet her eye level as my free hand gripped the back of her neck. “Come back to me, Sweetheart.” She blinked once… twice and there she was, my girl. “I just want to hold you while we sleep. Your presence comforts me.” I chewed on the inside of my cheek at the admission.
Y/N gave me one of her toothy grins, one that could make me fall to my knees. “I’d like that. I sleep better when you’re close.”
I pressed my lips to hers for a moment and then kissed the tip of her nose, “Let’s get you to bed.” I adjusted my hands to hold her back and under her knees and picked her up and held her close to my chest. She gripped her arms around my neck and her Jasmine scent immediately calmed me. “You died.” I whispered as I kicked the door shut behind me and continued and made strides to the bed. I placed her down at the edge of the bed.
Crawling in next to her, she laid her back, her kind warm eyes never leaving mine. “I what?”
Lying on my side and wrapping my arm around her stomach pulling her close. I nuzzled my face in her neck, peppering it with soft featherlight kisses moving up to her jaw and pressing my forehead to the side of her face, “In my nightmare.” I murmur against her skin. “I watched you get slaughtered in my dream. It started off with me looking for my mother and when I found her, she morphed into you.” I could hear her heart begin to race and I tried to rub soothing circles against her clothed side to calm her. “I watched you die. I just…” I paused and released a sigh, pulling away from her. Laying on my back fanning out my wings holding my hand out and felt her soft hand slip into mine and my fingers curled around hers. “I just needed a reminder that you were ok, that you were alive.”
“Darling,” Y/N whispered shifting on the bed and could feel her facing me. “Look at me.” I refused, she pulled her hand away from mine and her cool delicate fingers found my cheek and she lightly pushed my face to meet hers and her eyes held nothing, but warmth and comfort and I could feel a tug at my chest. She sat back, adjusting the pillows against the headboard as she sat back. Her hand still touching my face she lightly tugged, “Come here, Cassian.”
The tone of her voice made me move, and I braced my arms on both sides of her hips, a few loose strands falling from my bun. She swiped them out of my face and then she patted her chest, “Lie down,” My body obeyed her command instantly my arms slid around and gripped her back. My ear pressed against her breast where her heart held a steady strong beat. She was showing me that she was alive. She tugged the bun from my hair, and it cascaded down in every direction. As if she could sense my need for her touch, she began running her fingers through my hair. “Feyre would do this for me when I had a bad dream. Especially when I left Xavier. This was the best thing she could come up with to calm me.”
“Remind me to get her flowers before we go home?” I grumbled, snuggling my head deeper into her chest. “This is nice.”
Y/N kisses the top of my head and begins to hum a soft tune, after a few moments the hums turned into words, and she began to softly sing in my ear. A lullaby I was unfamiliar with. Though I can’t focus on the words as her soft melodic tone seeped into my bones and wrapped around my soul. Her beautiful voice, her fingers massaging my scalp and her strong pulse ringing in my ear my eyes grow heavy. Before slumber can pull me under, I could have sworn she whispered, “It belongs to you anyway.” Then sleep consumed me.
I stirred the next morning to find my head pressed against a pillow. I lifted my head up blinking away the sleep and found the side of the bed cold. Pans collapsing and clanging on the ground in the kitchen followed by a slew of curses had me sliding out of bed, tying my hair back and following the sound. Making sure to quiet my footsteps I leaned against the door frame leading into the kitchen. Y/N was grumbling picking up the scattered cook wearing her hair in a braid that looked disheveled. Her cheeks were flushed, and I couldn’t help but admire her plump ass as she bent over to put things away, fighting the urge to collide my hand against it with a sharp slap. As she stood, and grabbed something off the counter, I made my presence known, “What’s going on in here?”
Y/N must not have noticed I was here because she jumped and in doing so the contents of the bowl she was holding flew in the air and landing all over her. She turned to look at me and pushed out her bottom lip, “You ruined my surprise.” She mumbled, shaking her head to get the flour out of her hair; a plume of flour swirls around her.
I pushed off the doorframe and approached her as I fought the laughter from escaping my lips. I looked at the contents on the table and my chest heaved. “You were trying to make breakfast?”
The youngest Archeron sighed in defeat, “You were upset last night because of your dream, and you made breakfast for me when I was upset. I was trying to do the same.” She looked at the mess in the kitchen, “Clearly, its not working out and I woke you up in the process. I’m sorry.”
This time I do laugh, and she tucks her head down in embarrassment. I lift her face and wipe some of the flour off her face. “My sweet, Princess. You’re cute. How about this. You go get cleaned off. I will clean up here and we can cook together.
Her face lit up, “Really?” I nodded and she smiled, “I’ll be right back.” She bolts out of the room and called out, “I’ll bring you down a shirt.”
I chuckled and began cleaning up.
The smell of eggs wafted through the kitchen as Y/N whisked the mixture for pancakes and I fried our eggs. She was swaying her hips dancing to whatever melody was in her head, “Do you always do that?”
She turned continuing her little dance moves as she poured the batter onto the pan, “Do what?” Pulling away when she gets a few perfect circles on the pan.
“Dance when you’re doing something?” She looked up and the dancing stopped as she thought about it.
“I guess I never noticed before.” She placed the bowl down, and held out her hand, “May I have this dance, General?” She wiggled her eyebrows her hair neatly put up a Violet bow in her hair wearing her leathers.
I flipped the eggs and glanced at her from my periphery and her eyes shifted from playful to soft and pleading her lips pushed out in a pout. Knowing that I could deny her nothing I tucked in my wings and gripped her hand in mine and my other around her waist as her hand rested on my bicep. I began to sway with her in the kitchen, flexing my bicep muscle every now and then. “We might burn the food.” I pointed her out as spun her around and pulled her back into my arms.
“We might,” She hummed. She smiled, “But we’ll at least have some fun.”
I rolled my eyes and tapped her butt. “I don’t like wasting food, back to the pancakes, Princess.”
She grumbled and crossed her arms but made her way back to the pancakes and flipped them. Y/N proceeded to swish her hips and as we finished making breakfast, I found myself moving my hips along with her and getting swept up by the invisible beat she was dancing to.
When we finished eating our breakfast, I pressed my lips in a tight line watching as the sun gleamed on Y.N as if the mother was praising her handy work in how beautiful she made her. My lips turned upward as she furiously scratched words into her journal. She was focused and I rubbed at my chest trying to ease the tightness there. “I have a favor to ask of you.”
Y/N looked up from her journal and the sun glinted around her hair like a halo, “Sure. What’s up?”
“The other day when I had to leave because there was an incident that happened at the camp.” She tilted her head and I continued, “A little girl had her wings clipped. It’s a terrible tradition my people have when a girl has their first bleed. They take away their ability to fly, so they can focus on doing housework. It was one of the first thing that was banned when Rhys came into power, but the leaders of the camps still find work arounds.”
There was a tick in Y/N’s jaw, her eyes becoming glassy. She cleared her throat, “That’s horrific. We can discuss that later though, what’s the favor?” She shut the notebook and straightened her posture she reminded me of a solider waiting for orders.
“The little girl, Grace is her name, asked if I could bring you over to visit.” I smiled as her face shifted to one of shock. “She wanted to meet the human who saved her and her family.”
Y/N stood up and pressed a hand to her chest, “I would be honored. Can we go now?”
“Of course, Princess. Let’s get going.”
We landed back into the camps and placed Y/N down and gripped her hand and walked her over to one of the cabins. She squeezed my hand and took a deep breath. Once we reached the front door Y/N knocked twice and waited as she shifted her weight from one leg to the other. “You, okay?”
She simply nodded and before she could speak the door opened and both of us had to look down to find Grace looking back up at us. “Hi Cassie! She ran up and hugged my legs. I pressed my hand on the back of her head, my grin growing wide.
“Hi, Little one.” I said and got down on a bended knee and held her tiny hands, “How are you feeling?”
Her eyes beamed, “I feel so strong, though my wings hurt when I stretch them. Will that ever go away?” I opened and shut my mouth unsure what to say but then Y/N cleared her throat and saw Grace realized there was another person with me. “It will pass, with time though every now and again it will throb. It will be more uncomfortable than painful.” She whispered and got down on her knee. “I’m Y/N, I heard your name is Grace.”
Grace lit up at the sound of her name, “Cassie, you kept your promise!”
I placed a hand on my chest in mock offense, “I’m sorry as your General I always keep my promises.”
Grace moved from my embrace and walked toward Y/N grabbing her hand and leading her inside the cabin and I followed behind the two girls. I was greeted by Grace’s mother, her brown hair pinned up, her wings tucked tightly, and she pressed a hand on my arm, “Thank you, General. She hasn’t stopped talking about being brave for her Cassie. Your kindness has made this whole situation easier for both of us.”
I held her hand gently in mind and gave it a squeeze, “I’m sorry, I wasn’t there sooner. I wish I could have prevented it.”
Grace’s mother provided a small, “It may not have been preventable, General.”
“Please call me, Cassian.” I smiled.
“Diana,” She returned, “Go on Gracie. hasn’t stopped talking about you bring Y/N here.”
I walked deeper into the cabin in the common living space to see Gracie drawing and Y/N coloring alongside her. “Y/N where you hurt like I was?”
I stilled and watched as Y/N’s posture stiffened though she gave a smile, “Yes, a bad man hurt me. I have scars on my back because of it. But we do share one thing in common with each other.”
Grace eyes grew wide, “We do?”
Y/N nodded her body relaxing once more, “Cassian came to help us, when we needed him most.” Gracie looked over to where I was standing. Y/N’s gaze was burning the side of my face and when I met her stare she smiled.
“He is like a knight in shining armor saving the princess!” Gracie squealed. “We were the princess!”
I smiled and walked into the room, “You sure are!” Grace ran up to me and leapt into my arms and I was quick to catch her. “Cassie, are you going to marry Y/N?”
Y/N coughed the air becoming tight with uncomfortable silence. I cleared my throat, “I have to know, curious girl, why would you ask that?” I tickled her sides, and she began to giggle.
“Well, you saved her from the bad man, and you were holding her hand when you walked in. You clearly love her.”
I looked at the woman in question her cheeks were flushed but she said, “Well, Cassian is a good male, he will always help someone in need. As for him holding my hand he is aware that I get nervous and fidget, he was trying to bring me comfort.”
Grace furrowed her brow, “But you two must get married. I know you love each other.”
Y/N smiled, “Tell you what we can revisit marriage when we come and visit again.”
Grace gasped, “You want to come visit again?”
I flicked the child’s nose, “Of course we’re coming back, I have to check the bravest female in windhaven.”
Grace puffed out her chest in pride. “I won’t let you down, Cassie.”
I nodded, “You never could!”
“Would you two like to stay for dinner?”
Grace smiled, “Yes they would,” there was no room for argument, and we stayed for dinner.
The next week, Y/N and I fell into a routine, meals together, she would go in the study and write as I went to the camps. We still had not heard from Rhys so I had to assume that they were still in the Summer Court. When I get back Y/N and I would make dinner together and then she would get into one of my shirts and I would hold her close to my chest and we would simply fall asleep.
One day I left for Windhaven to discuss some plans with Devlon and enforcing that the females are aloud to train.
Devlon crossed his arms, “They will train after their chores, Is that simply not good enough?”
I snarled, “They deserve to have the choice to not do the chores if they don’t want to.”
Devlon snorted, “Says the male who is parading human trash around, and she follows you around like a little pup.”
I bared my teeth at him, “Mind your place, Lord. She is under the protection of your High Lord. Your just mad she bruised your pride.”
Devlon lifted his chin the sign of pure arrogance, “I could care less of an opinion of someone beneath me as a human whore, who is sleeping with a bastard born brute.”
I clenched my fist as my jaw ticked, “I will not tolerate your tone, step out of line again, and I will be personally mandating all your men doing the chores while the girls will train.” I took a step closer to him, “I hear you say one more thing about Y/N Archeron, I will not hesitate to sink your teeth in. Are we in an understanding.”
Devlon walked around me and made sure to collide with my soldier, “The females will train. Get out of my Camp, General,” He drawled out my title and left the tent.
Frustration pent up I followed him out and took to the skies to head back to the Cabin.
Once I reached the Cabin, I noticed the fae lights still on, I was later than I anticipated, but I walked in and kicked the snow off my boot and slammed the door behind me. The anger stirring in my gut was festering and I didn’t want my princess to be subjected to that. I stomped up to my room and slammed the door. I sat on the bed and pressed my palm against my eyes to try to relieve the pressure that had started to bloom in my head.
There was a soft knock on my door. “Cass? Are you okay?”
“Go away, Princess.” I murmured and pressed my palm deeper into my eyes. As the door opened.
I heard her footsteps growing near her and I pulled my hands away from my face and leveled a glare at her. She paused and retreated a step, “I wanted to make sure you were okay.” She spoke quietly, my eyes glazed to her hands where she was picking at her nails, she was nervous. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I’m fine. I want to be alone.” I barked out. Sighing, I ran my fingers through my hair.
When I looked back at her she looked stricken, as if I hit her. She pressed “Cass, let me help.”
I snorted my rage boiling over as I rose to my feet, and she took an instinctive step back. I barely registered the fear in her eyes, “Tell me, Y/N, how could you help me. You can barely help yourself. Always hoping someone will save you; Rhys, Az, Feyre, are you that incompetent of taking care of yourself. That you resorted to sleeping with an abusive-“
I didn’t get the sentence out before her hand collided with my cheek. “You know I was coming to check if you were okay. I did not expect you to be a prick. I made dinner all by myself, so you came home to warm meal.” Guilt washed over me at her words, “Whenever you feel like acting like a grown adult; come join me.” She turned and headed for the door, “I don’t need a reminder about how low and insignificant I am.” She taps her head, “I hear those words repeatedly in my head, and yet Nesta had never failed to remind me of just how worthless, and beneath her I am.” Her voice cracked and it matched the ache in my heart, “I never thought you would stoop so low.”
Looking up at me I could see the hurt in her tender eyes. “Princess, Wait.” Her shutting the door; the solitary clicks of the door meeting its latch, was the only sound in the room.
For a moment I stared at the empty space where she had stood, then I crumpled to my knees. Tugging at my hair, my brain began to whirl, Hurt, Hurt, Hurt. You Hurt her. I had made her feel the same way she felt with Xavier and Nesta. “What. Have. I. Done?” I whispered as I curled in a ball my wings cocooning me, trying to block out the sobs I heard coming from the other room.
I am a monster.
