JACK NO BLOCO DE CARNAVAL. SO TRUE. mesmo que ele fique em casa, tem um churras de família e eles deixam tocando o globeleza ao fundo
AND HIM GOING ON FESTA JUNINA WITH HIS SIBLINGS <333 BEST BIG BRO EVER, FESTA JUNINA IS THE EVENT OF THE YEAR FR
also. Ruggie carioca. mto canon. ainda pensando no Leona do Leblon.
After looking at your new header I cannot help but think Jack Howl is br cause thats just him on a bloco de carnaval
BRAZILIAN JACK HOWL HEADCANONS LETS GO (that no one asked for)
...Ok actually it's a bit hard to picture him as br since he's a grey wolf and he comes from a snowy place (also bc of this I HC him to be inuit if he had an actual nationality) but I can imagine what if he were half-brazilian and lived on Brazil 🤔
He'd probably live in the southern region because the climate is cooler, he can't stand the tropical heat
His favorite food is southern churrasco obviously
He'd watch football matches religiously (prefers to watch it at the comfort of his home, he doesn't want to deal with all the noisy fanatic fans)
When it's summertime he goes to jog at an even earlier time (Around 4AM to 5AM) to avoid the hottest hours in the morning
Would he like carnaval? I think he'd rather stay at home and watch the perfomances on TV than actually engage with it outside... Too many crowds outside, too much flashy colors, too much noise, plus the summer heat? No thank you!
He'd enjoy São João/Festa Junina though! Mostly because of the delicious typical foods. He'd take his little siblings to São João parties, his little sister wearing a cute traditional dress (he'd be sure to watch and cheer on her as she dances quadrilha with the other kids) and his little brother would rather play traditional activities, with Jack occasionally playing it alongside him (such as fishing, jogo da argola, darts etc)
Street thugs wouldn't dare to mug him. One death glare from Jack is enough to send them running
Would occasionally visit Ruggie in Rio (I think we can all agree that Ruggie would undeniably be carioca, this isn't up for debate/hj) and try out extreme sports there (hand gliding, zip line, rappel, etc)
HEY, TEACHER﹙☆﹚— TWST
adult! azul with a spouse who teaches kindergarten
— warnings: none
— characters: azul
azul can’t go one day without you coming back home after work to gush about your kindergarten students. although he doesn’t mind, he’ll act like it bothers him but his uninterested and irritated act never fools you. he finds it rather endearing when you ramble on about how much your students are progressing with their learning, and how they’re doing it faster than all the other kindergarten classes.
he won’t visit your school much, but when he does, he’ll make sure to cause some chaos with your students. azul has a habit of provoking your kindergarteners. “i don’t think you would be able to do a handstand. however, me on the other hand? i can do them even on my head,” and when you have to catch a kid from falling after they attempt to do a handstand on their head, you always look to azul. he defends himself because according to him, he never technically told the kid to do a handstand on their head! however, you scold him for planting the idea in that child’s mind. unexpectedly, the children seem to like him, which even shocked azul at first.

Could i request hcs of how the dorm leaders react when you fall asleep on their shoulder?
| Notes: Hi, anon!
Sorry but I didn’t get to write for Vil. I just never feel confident enough to write him in a more serious and complete request… but I hope the other six are enough! I had fun writing for each one of them, I think my favorites are Kalim and Idia for this request~ Hope you like it!
Thanks for the request <3 |
Riddle Rosehearts, Leona Kingscholar, Azul Ashengrotto, Kalim Al Asim, Idia Shroud, Malleus Draconia x g!n reader / headcanons / fluff / sleeping on their shoulder / established relationship / six dorm leaders / use of “you” pronouns
Cherry’s Harvesting 🍒 Masterlist
Riddle had invited you to have a study meeting at the school library. It was no big deal. Just a moment for you to spend together and study at the same time. People say dating can get in the way of studies but Riddle wasn't the type of boyfriend who would let that happen. It was nothing more and nothing less than to unite something useful with the pleasant;
Although reading about the history of teas during the reign of the Queen of Hearts was neither of them, or helpful nor enjoyable. Because you two were from different grades, the content Riddle read was different from yours and although he insisted on helping you if you had any questions, you didn't want to bother him with something as banal as that;
A long time later, Riddle was already moving on to the next chapter of arithmetic when he felt a weight on his right shoulder. As he turned around, Riddle could only see your head tilted at him, your eyes closed and your concentration completely lost. You were asleep! When he was going to say something, you moved a little more, settling on his shoulder;
That was a good card for you to play but Riddle was still determined to wake you up so you could pay more attention to your studies. He nudged you lightly, calling your name and for a brief moment, you awoke again. You swore that you wouldn’t sleep again and that at least the next lines were about a Knave that tried to poison the Queen — which made Riddle twist his nose a little;
Well, obviously the Knave of Hearts failed at his mission because five minutes later you got back again onto Riddle's comfortable shoulder. You have to wonder how such a thin, lean shoulder could have handled your head satisfactorily, but you managed to get a perfect position. So much so that you barely moved from there;
Riddle had to take a deep breath before he looked at you again. While sleeping, you had this cute little pout that he took a long time to deviate from. The icing on the cake was that you pulled his right arm like a second pillow, squeezing it tight enough to have it at your pleasure and as much as the already small distance between the two chairs allowed;
The two of you were in a more distant and private area of the library, where the huge bookshelves blocked you from other people’s view. But at a certain point, Trey showed up over there to communicate something to Riddle and ended up finding you and the dorm leader in that position. Riddle had been content to continue reading a book but his friend’s arrival scared him;
“One word and it will be off with your head...!,” Riddle whispered loudly, his face colored by a vibrant red. “It better be important like Ace blowing up the dorm or Deuce getting lost in the maze again...!” Trey was silent for a moment, trying to hold back his laughter and undecided if he should say something or not;
At almost the same moment, you yawned as you stretched out and held Riddle's entire body to be your dear pillow. He couldn't say anything because the top of your head was too close to his mouth. The best Riddle could do was to adjust you back to your old position on his shoulder, although trying to undo your arm around him was in vain;
“You know, I think we can hold Cater doing a flash-mob of himself for another hour. See you later, Riddle,” Trey pulled his glasses back and waved goodbye to his friend, disappearing back among the bookshelves. Riddle sighed. To choose the safety of Heartslabyul or continue your afternoon nap? Unfortunately or not, he had enough heart to not wake you up;
Eventually you woke up, of course. But Riddle had fallen asleep too, leaning on your head and his book open on the table. You got away from him very carefully for a minute, left a highlighter on the page and gently woke him up. Riddle opened his gray eyes, his black eyelashes with slight red reflections blinking softly. A wonderful sight, for sure.
It was another ordinary afternoon in Savanaclaw. The sun was shining brightly and Leona was sitting next to you on the balcony of his room, enjoying the view. Although you were at a high point overlooking a landscape of big dusty rocks, further on the horizon there was a river curving in the Savannah and some humble small vegetation;
You had tried calling Leona to play chess but he was a little more sleepy and lazy than usual. And was winning all times even like that — the audacity! Eventually, you put the board and pieces aside and you two turned to admire the simple, natural wonders of the dorm;
Leona had fallen asleep in no time, not that you were too surprised about it. In fact, Leona had earlier brought a large cushion from his room — large and soft, made of the most expensive fabric you could imagine — and was probably planning to sleep there the entire time. You sighed but smiled at the same time, sharing the pillow with him;
What you didn't expect was to end up taking a nap too and using Leona’s shoulder as your support. He woke up for a brief minute only to find out what that strange weight next to him was, confirming it was you. Leona has never seen you so relaxed before, vulnerable and comfortable. Being at the mercy of a carnivore like him;
Leona laid your head better on his shoulder so that you could stay in a position that wouldn't give you a tremendous sprain afterwards. Trust him, he has mastered the art of sleeping in the strangest ways and in the most unusual places;
But to Leona’s surprise, you suddenly wrapped your arms around his torso and squeezed him as if nothing in the world was going to get you out of there. Leaning on his shoulder, you had the serenity of a little lion using the support of a rock to be worshiped by the kingdom without actually realizing it. Leona had to fight a smile that escaped the corner of his lips;
You're really more than a mere herbivore, huh? While Leona was thinking about it, he heard the sound of his bedroom door opening and he recognized Ruggie approaching the balcony. Through the half-open door, Leona could hear the other students in the dorm arguing about something in the hallway;
“Whatever these animals are doing, it's not my problem, Ruggie,” Leona replied before the hyena boy could tell what was going on. He said this without having to raise his voice or get out of position, keeping you quiet and safe around him. If there was one thing Leona hated, it was when people tried to disrupt his nap for silly reasons — and knowing his pack, they sure were idiots;
Ruggie just leaned against the balcony column where the two of you were leaning and took a look at the scene. He knew that intruding on your date would come at a high cost but it was either that or just letting the guys kill each other to see who would clean up the dorm’s magift court. But it turned out his leader was dealing with a much bigger issue;
“Alright, alright. But Leona... look at that wandering hand there, huh,” Ruggie couldn't hold back a low laugh and it got worse when Leona growled at him. The noise of Ruggie's laughter, growling, and someone running out of the room eventually woke you up and you stretched out your arms like cats do. Maybe Leona passed this habit on to you unintentionally;
But Leona led you back to a new nap, where you could relax again just the two of you. You could perfectly feel Leona’s breath rising and falling, like a natural and soft orchestra. He stroked your head, giving you a sense of security that you appreciated. Leona rested his chin on the top of your head and smiled. That’s the good life.
Every time Azul invited you to study in Octavinelle’s lounge room, you felt even more the feeling that you were in the middle of the ocean. Everything was so serene, the fishes moved quietly inside the aquariums and the students were reasonably quiet, even with the common noise of books being opened and notes being written;
Azul had chosen for you a more private area, where you could study without anyone bothering you. And it stood next to an aquarium with the fish type you liked to look at the most. The environment was so calm and relaxing that you were fighting sleep, almost like a brave prince saving your own life from a giant sea monster;
As if it couldn't get any worse, Azul was explaining the subject to you. His voice was like the waves of the sea on a beach in the early morning, softly as the singing of a mermaid. If you didn't know about Azul’s commitment to his studies, you'd think he was making you drowsy on purpose. No one had the right to have a naturally melodious voice! — and, good Triton, he had;
Before Azul could realize it in time, you fell asleep on his shoulder and interrupted him reading about the maritime discovery of the true functions of a pipe. That scared Azul for a solid minute. Even though you were in a relationship, he sometimes forgot that things like that could happen;
Not knowing what to do, Azul watched you snuggle better on his shoulder, your newest soft and fragrant pillow. He wondered if the cologne he was using wouldn't bother you sooner or later, yet you drew closer to him than ever — as if to contradict him. Azul closed his history book, lost to say the least;
Azul adjusted his glasses to make sure no one was paying attention to you. The Mostro Lounge’s opening hours were over and Octavinelle’s students were behaved enough that no one would go after him because of any trouble. But to distract himself from the feeling of you being so comfortable and relaxed around him, Azul kept thinking about all the possibilities that would come from this scenario;
Every once in a while, he would make the mistake of looking back at you and staring at your half-open mouth. Azul closed it as gently as he could, but he felt guilty for never stopping watching you. Azul had already read several mermaid tales as a child about how one kiss of true love could solve everything. He wishes he could kiss you to make you focus on your studies again!;
Azul was so distracted that he didn't notice when Jade stood in front of him, with some papers in his arms and silently observing the situation. Eventually he looked away from you and found the vice. “J-jade...!,” Blue exclaimed in the lowest, most restrained manner he could muster. “What is it? You don't see I'm busy...?!”;
Jade smiled, almost saying without words that, yes, he knew. And how busy. But those papers were the receipts for the month’s Lounge and dorm expenses, which Azul always requested to do the accountability. He left the papers on the table and had the audacity to stack the books you were reading in front of a very embarrassed Azul;
“I don't think you'll need them anymore at the moment,” Jade said, closing his eyes and waving a farewell to the leader. Azul cursed him quietly with all the curses and threats that a good Ashengrotto knew. He couldn’t tolerate such insubordination;
A little more used to the situation and getting tired, Azul ended up leaning against you too and fell asleep next to you. In the brief moment you woke up and realized that Azul was holding your hand, you took off his glasses and carefully left them on the table. All this without waking him up. You didn't know that Azul could have such a heavy sleep — and that he smiles while doing so.
When Kalim invited you to Scarabia that afternoon, you couldn't deny it. It was a heated day and as much as the dorm’s Sun shone as bright as gold being forged, the two of you were sitting near the fountain in the center of that huge and sumptuous palace. You could hear the noise of water falling incessantly, forming small drops on the edges of the fountain;
Kalim was cheerful as always, his mood was steady whether it was raining or sunny. It was one of the things you liked about him. Kalim seemed an inexhaustible source of energy, cheering you up at all times in the small and big things. He was telling you various stories about his younger siblings and his own childhood memories;
The mood was so pleasant, the fountain tumbling to a serene beat and the ornaments on Kalim's outfit tinkling to a soft, fun background music that you couldn't help but yawn. First you came closer to Kalim, without interrupting his words, and then you felt as if you were melting;
Kalim only saw your eyes close, your lashes lowered like a peacock’s tail. You leaned on his shoulder and got lost in a desert of dreams. Kalim got closer to the edge of the fountain and watched you sleep, a smile growing on his face. When he met you earlier, you looked tired and he wanted to cheer you up a little;
But if you wanted to enjoy that free time by napping, Kalim saw no problem with that. After all, a nap is fun too! Kalim wished he could have laughed more but the slight movement of his shoulders seemed to bother you and he went back on being quiet. As complicated as it was, he did his best not to interrupt your sleep;
To pass the time, Kalim sang you a famous lullaby from the Land of Hot Sands. It was a beautiful and soft melody, words that you might not understand very well but full of meaning. In this came some birds who wanted to take advantage of the water of the fountain to bathe and accompany their friend’s song;
All this unusual peace in the dorm was the reason that Jamil approached the fountain after a few hours. To his relief, Kalim was safe and quiet, nuzzling you on his shoulder while a dove also rested on his dorm bandana. Jamil was speechless;
“Jamil!! O-h... Ja… Jamil...!,” Kalim exclaimed but then tried to speak softly. “Shhh! We can't make noises now…!” Jamil saw more birds gather near the boy to rest and felt that he was not paid and accommodated enough to put up with such visions on a simple Tuesday afternoon. At least, you two weren’t causing any trouble;
Kalim didn't expect to meet Jamil at that moment, but it reminded him of all the times the vice had to take care of him when he fell asleep unintentionally. It was a very difficult task and one that really required care! But he was happy that he was handling the situation well, in the careful and effective way that he knew Jamil did;
“Make yourself comfortable then, Kalim. I'll leave some hot tea ready just in case you two want it later,” Jamil had already turned to leave the courtyard but he still heard Kalim whisper-loudly that if possible he wanted some crackers to go with it — Jamil sighed, as usual;
A few minutes later you stirred on awakening and this sudden movement startled the little birds near you. Kalim waved to them all and asked if you were feeling better. You stretched out, still a little drowsy, but feeling sore from sleeping sitting on the floor for so much time. In this, Kalim had an idea: you would have some tea with crackers and you could nap together again, only in the room with all those pillows and tapestries!
In other times, it would be impossible for you to enter Idia’s room. If Ignihyde was the underworld where he reigned, his room was like his own temple. Only Ortho could get in there — and now, so could you. As you got closer and started dating, Idia was becoming more inclined to spend time with someone else and share more about his hobbies;
Even if you aren’t very good with games, Idia always seemed to have something up his sleeve to show you. Whatever you wanted, in the theme of your choice, it didn’t matter. He could do it. The same thing went for manga, anime, movies — Idia would go digital distances to make your time alongside him worth. Even though you assured him many times that his company alone was good enough;
That night, you ended up meeting after dinner to spend time together in Idia’s room, as usually happened on your dates. Idia was particularly anxious because he found a manga with a very interesting story and it was just the kind of story he knew you liked too;
Idia made that discovery for a while but he had so caught up with the story and was eagerly awaiting the release of the new chapters. In the meantime, he tried to explain the plot in general, the characters he liked, the characters he hated and his favorite chapters — all without spoiling anything beyond necessary;
You were side by side in bed and it was one of the few occasions when you could hear Idia’s voice so lively and louder than usual, without losing the relaxing tone his voice had. It was getting a little late but you didn't want to interrupt Idia and end the night there. You were focused on Idia but your mind turned into Charon and led you to another direction in the river: slumber;
Idia stopped talking when he felt you leaning on his shoulder, sleeping peacefully — just like those scenes in shoujo manga! His heart stopped, came back again, took a break and continued. Idia panicked but when he moved to try to get away from you, you followed him and on top of that, snuggled even more into him. Counterattack!;
Quiet, lost and confused — and restricted — Idia wondered what had put you to sleep after all. Was it him? Listening to him talk for hours about manga was too boring? He went on a tangent of worried and anxious thoughts until the digital clock beeped eleven o’clock in the evening. This woke up Idia a bit and made him wonder if maybe there was an option that you had fallen asleep because it was too late;
Eleven O'clock was still peak time for Idia so he sometimes forgot that “normal people” didn't spend more than that. Well, to complete the shoujo cliché bingo, Ortho walked into the room and witnessed you two in this unusual position. Idia stared into his little brother’s eyes with intensity. “P-p-please, Ortho... help me!,” he asked softly, the ends of his fiery hair turning hot pink;
Ortho held his chin, taking a closer look at you hugging Idia’s figure. Your heartbeat was normal — compared to his brother’s chariot racing heart — and your serotonin levels seemed good. You were having a good dream and even though his technology couldn't prove it, Ortho hoped it was dreams with Idia;
“Sorry to bother you, Nii-san. I’ll get my charger and leave you two alone,” Ortho said at a low volume that wouldn't make you wake up. Idia trembled and stuttered meaningless words to his brother, feeling somehow betrayed. Ortho closed the door and Idia felt that now he was lost. He wasn’t at all prepared for this rapprochement between you, not even in the craziest scenarios that he sometimes imagined;
Swallowing hard and looking at you carefully again, Idia noticed how soundly you were sleeping. He's never seen you like this. It was unexpected, even a little weird, but he couldn't take his eyes off you. Idia dared to lean against you a little more and feel your warmth, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Maybe it was a good thing you were asleep. Idia didn't want you to see how much he was smiling like a fool — that was what people called the “protagonist moment”, right?
It was a magnificent night full of stars. Malleus had shown up for another late-night visit to his favorite ramshackled dorm, graced all the more by the fact that the human he loved so much had called him to see the sky on that humble roof. Grim didn't want to go with you because stargazing seemed pretty boring and Ace always told him to stop playing your “personal third wheel” — whatever that means;
You were side by side on the roof. As Malleus was an expert in astronomy, he pointed out the stars and said their names as if they were old friends. You had no doubt that this was a sad truth given his restricted life in his castle. Malleus knew the name of each star in the constellations, some quite different figures from what was in your world;
You even briefly explained the concept of zodiac signs to Malleus and he was as confused as he was fascinated by the way humans tried to use the stars for fortune telling. He had heard of one using the constellations to guide themselves along the way but not much about predicting someone’s day;
You two continued to talk for a while, sharing these different experiences as you felt the coolness of the serene summer. It was Malleus who was telling you a story about stars from his homeland when you started to feel a little somnolent. You didn't know what time it was and the whole environment around you was too relaxing;
Malleus’s voice was soft and affectionate, enchanting as a sleeping spell. He could be talking about the most absurd thing and you would listen as if it were a bedtime story. You started by resting your head on Malleus’ shoulder and in what you told yourself would be resting your eyes for one minute to enjoy his voice, you ended up actually falling asleep;
Malleus realized this when he asked you something and you answered nothing. He stared at your sleepy figure, surprised for a moment but then giving a small smile. So you were playing Silver on him, weren’t you? — Malleus hoped this was the proper way to say the “human younglings expression”. He held your hand and continued to wander in a monologue about the stars;
Lilia showed up there unexpectedly because he was looking for Silver who hadn't returned to the dorm yet, probably from falling asleep somewhere. But he came across this scene and when he noticed that you were sleeping, he decided to approach to try to at least tease Malleus for a brief moment;
“Child of Man eventually fell asleep. It must be so hard to live with a need for rest and succumb so easily to the dream world,” Malleus commented, looking gently at you. “But it feels so peaceful at the same time.” Lilia held back his laughter as he saw the way Malleus smiled;
It wasn't as if the fairies didn't know what sleep was, but staying awake for quite some time wasn't difficult or problematic. Malleus usually spent hours wandering through the night before actually sleeping. When he was younger, he joked about keeping the Moon company and telling the grandiose, lonely satellite how his day went;
“Don't forget to put your sleeping beauty to sleep in bed afterwards. Enjoy the night, my little bats,” Lilia said goodbye, going after his own sleeping beauty son. Malleus waved back at him and as he turned around, he took you in his arms gently. You hardly even felt yourself being lifted from your position to a different environment;
When you opened your eyes, Malleus had kissed you goodnight. Before he went, you pulled his sleeve lightly and in a low mutter asked him to stay. It was such a simple and lovely gesture that Malleus couldn't deny your request. He arranged a piece of the bed to lie on and you leaned on his shoulder again, falling back to sleep with the help of a sweet little lullaby that Malleus made especially for you.
Alright!!
How about idia with a reader who starts showing romantic interest in him after breaking up with Vil?

| Notes: Hello again, darling! About this ask… it really cracked me up when I first saw, for reasons lol
Sweet Jesus, I really like Idia and maybe this is part of the reason this story took so much time bc I put my soul into it. FR part of me wanted to sit down and transform this into a whole series of stories to fully develop Idia & Reader’s relationship, each of their feelings, other characters cameos, more drama, etc etc etc. But I don’t have the time unfortunately T_T We still have this monstrosity of a one-shot tho. I think I have never written something so long… and one of the main reasons it’s that there’s a lot of things here. Maybe it’s bc I like to complicate things more than it should be (as would say Michael Scott), some parts are so you can see Reader’s feelings slowly growing stronger about Idia and I hope the little time jumps are fluid enough too.
None of this is a complaint or anything (its just my way of speaking lol) but wow, this was the story. Actually, the perfect way to finish Cherry’s Harvesting <3 In total, this story has 6,6k words but I split it into two parts so you all can read more calmly (and idk if tumblr will permit so much words, this site hates me sometimes…)
So, join me into my Charon gondola and let’s romance my favorite shut-in salty introvert greek-myth based otaku <3 |
Idia Shroud x gender neutral reader / scenario / part 1 (3050k words) - part 2 (here) / mentions of breakup with Vil Schoenheit / angst, hurt and comfort, fluff / seasons and greek mythology references / minor chapter 6 mentions and references / use of “you” pronouns

{𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐈, “𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬”}
Life for Idia was like a long, arduous winter. Cold to the soul, able to make every single bone tremble. Pure white snow. Colorless, lifeless, monochrome. Like the systems that surround the Isle of Lamentation where he was born. Idia got used to living in a kind of underworld, away from mortals who could feel the Sun truly caress their skins and fill them with color and joy.
His homeland has always been cold, especially in the subterranean headquarters where they did their research and guarded overblot’s phantoms. In this, Ignihyde made Idia feel at home — as if he had never left.
The bedroom’s air conditioning made that icy feeling of loneliness linger. Idia never bothered to change that. Even if he wanted to change the temperature, it wasn't like he could. He wasn’t worthy of any of that. Idia knew that somehow the cold of winter would surround him again.
He couldn’t escape.
But one day, Idia found a “daffodil” in the schoolyard. You were sitting on a bench, having lunch with Grim and your friends. Idia knew very little about you: as you arrived at the school suddenly, you ended up getting involved with some overblots and you were starting to adapt. He never worried about wanting to seek more.
You seemed to be just another summer person, covered in the Sun and emanating a warmth that Idia couldn’t stand. That perception changed, however, when Idia saw Grim alone in the hallway and tried to pet him — in vain because the little monster ran out near you. When you faced Idia, he felt that he already knew what you were going to say.
About how weird he was, that he must be the owner of that weird tablet that floats down the hallways instead of going out and going to class every day like everyone else. About how in the days when he was required to go in person, he had this uncomfortable gloomy aura around him.
But you didn't say any of that. You seemed to understand that Idia wanted to caress Grim and with a smile, you tried to convince him to be kinder to that stranger with ghostly pale skin, jagged teeth and flaming hair. Your smile warmed Idia’s heart, just the right way.
You were kind, genuine in your words. Like spring.
Even so, Idia ended up running away from there. Your kindness — however bearable as the blossoming of a flower field — was still too much for him to stand. The further he moved away, the more the feeling of regret ended up hammering into his mind. Was that it? One escape and you’d be out of reach forever. You would never dare speak to him again.
Idia tortured himself thinking about it for days, lost in this blossoming of feelings that made no sense to him. All possibilities could be considered, but the worst-case scenarios were what he paid the most attention to. That is until you prove him wrong again and again.
“Hi, Idia,” you greeted him every time they passed in the hall, either as a tablet or himself.
Idia didn’t know how you found out his name — probably from Ortho or someone in the third grade you knew — but hearing your voice pronounce his name with such sympathy was energizing.
It wasn't even a matter of greeting him loudly for everyone to hear or so quietly that even he wouldn’t have noticed. You recognized his presence in that river of students and by the expression scanner Idia ran through your image on his tablet, your positive emotions were true. You'd be happy to meet him. Why?
“I just wanted to meet you,” you answered that question once.
With a lot of perseverance, the two of you managed to start talking to each other. Little but enough at the beginning. You bumped into each other a lot when you went to the Mystery Shop and sometimes you were after the same snack to buy. Talking to Idia was difficult, no matter if you have a similar personality to him.
But, as your interest spoke louder, you weren’t going to let yourself be defeated — you had so much courage that Idia even managed to visualize you as a shounen-type protagonist, those very persistent ones even though you were defeated by the final boss several times. Each defeat, you came back stronger.
“There are so many interesting people here... I know it sounds kind of naive but, if I'm going to be here for long or forever, I want to know everything about this place,” you continued. “And you seem like a cool guy, Idia.”
At that, you tipped your head a bit and smiled at him. Idia regretted not bringing his tablet for the occasion, otherwise he could better hide how your words shook him inside like a great boil. However, you seemed to notice someone coming in the direction where Idia was facing backwards and gave them a shy nod.
When that person passed you by, Idia had a better grasp at what was your slight change in behavior. Vil Schoenheit answered your nod with a slight wave of his hand and a smile, his light blond hair flying with a breeze that came out of nowhere.
Idia wondered where the red roses were, as it should bloom behind that heartthrob young man along with the crystal clear soap bubbles and the soft background music. Because if life were a shoujo anime, Vil would be the protagonist without any doubt. The most beautiful and popular guy in school, thousands of fans melting every time he passed by.
Seeing people like that in real life always made his stomach turn. It didn't help that you seemed strangely charmed by Vil, like many other people in and out of school. Idia wasn’t surprised by this.
It wasn’t long before you were talking to him, but at the time, you were dealing with Pomefiore’s group and other students rehearsing in your dorm for the VDC. Perhaps it wasn’t all bad that Idia just needed to present a project to a room full of people who would judge him at the first stutter.
If he weighed in the balance, dancing and singing seemed to be more of a horrible torture than speaking in public. In any case, this seemed to have brought you closer to the leader of Pomefiore and as time passed, your simple relationship became something more.
The end of winter and the passage of the cultural festival turned the lives of all of you upside down during a brief but busy moment. Idia didn't have the details of anything but, on his part, a lot of intense things also happened. He became one more among the problem children of Night Raven College.
Still, you approached him once more and showed him your gentle and caring eyes. You seemed to suffer with him somehow — it was the first thing Idia noticed when he felt more in control of his own consciousness. You saw the worst in him and yet you didn’t walk away.
Some would even say that you saw hell and returned from there victorious. But the truth is that a lot has happened and Idia was too worried about Ortho to pay attention to your own special dose of concern for Vil.
Idia didn’t want to give a name to the feelings that burned in his heart and tried to make him hope. Even if the situation had been controlled in time, he was still sure about one thing: there was no hope. Only survival. Moving from this to another phase of life without looking back. Idia held his own shoulders and tried to convince himself that he could survive without you.
He lived eighteen years without knowing that anyone other than Ortho could look at him sweetly. He could live the rest without your gaze — briger of spring.
That's what he needed to hold on to.
It was an ordinary night when Idia was working on his computer, concentrating on developing some updates to his system’s layouts and solving some annoying bugs while listening to a playlist — “songs for when you're heartbroken but you won’t admit it” by Euterpe-ram, a profile on magify that Idia discovered the last few days.
You two hadn’t spoken to each other in a while. But every time Idia’s tablet detected you in the hallway, he got the impression that there was something wrong with you. This theory was eventually confirmed when Idia received a message from you on his cellphone asking if he could allow you in his bedroom.
Suddenly, you were there in Ignihyde and there was a hint of autumn in your eyes.
A crumbled spring. Yellowish, dry, its leaves flying in the wind. Ortho had brought you to cheer you up but Idia knew you just didn’t want to disappoint him and decline that merciful invitation. Everything in your posture betrayed the fact that you wanted to be alone. Or maybe Ignihyde was too cold for you.
As Ortho arranged a space on Idia’s messy bed to accommodate you, the two of you fell into a mournful silence. At a certain point, however, you ended up looking at Idia’s computer screen.
“This playlist…,” you muttered, the surprise in your eyes suspending your tiredness for a moment.
“Yeah.. a-a-ah! But! B-before you ask...!,” he almost closed the page in utter despair and embarrassment but you interrupted him in time.
“Did you like it?”
Idia had missed your way of saying and doing things. He really did.
You never asked unnecessary questions, you never dug deeper than you should. You accepted all the answers he had available, waiting for the right time for him to develop or close the subject. It was like finding a flower bud that was protected from the harshness of autumn.
“It's good. Huh. Long. But it has some cool songs that I had never heard before. Do you want...?,” Idia pulled out a second pair of headphones.
You stared at him for a moment, confused as to how two pairs of headphones could listen to the same thing without being connected by a wire to the device — but the technology of this world is as complicated as magic and, given the circumstances, you chose not to question it too much.
Idia’s set-up space was lonely but they managed to arrange a pouf for you to sit on. Ortho was by your side playing on his games and you had split your time between watching him, listening to the same songs with Idia and finally venting your feelings a little. Idia had paused the playlist almost immediately but he didn't know much to say.
Vil and you broke up.
This took Idia by surprise for a moment. It seems that paradise is difficult even for the gods of high Olympus like you two, people of unattainable brilliance.
However, he couldn’t bring himself to be any sort of happy about your news. Even if you explained that it was a mutual decision and dealt with maturely — you were also surprised to find out that Vil thought just the same as you — it was still a difficult time.
And all Idia could do was listen in silence. For all the time you stood there, gracing the fortress of his solitude with your tiny, though faded, spring buds, telling your story, Ortho wringing faint little smiles from you, there was nothing else to focus on. Idia only had eyes for you.
He accepted your lamentations with respect and care, a shroud with which you covered your aching heart.
You suddenly found out that the levels between you and him were too different. You couldn't keep up with each other no matter how supportive you were of Vil — and he appreciated that, he couldn’t deny it. But you weren't a match at the end of the day.
Maybe “match” wasn't the right word, Idia thought. You were like cards of considerable power but, together, you weren’t enough to defeat a boss or fully compatible to be worth a combo and a fixed position on the team.
When you said goodbye, with lighter shoulders, and smiled at Idia as you left, he turned to his computer. Ortho had also gone to his new room, wishing his brother good dreams.
Idia didn’t sleep much, actually. Or if he fell asleep, he was sitting in his chair while the playlist lulled him on a journey into the deep rivers of his own mind. Idia managed to make a few more layout updates but his thoughts kept coming back to you and what his role would be in that Greek tragedy. Honestly, what could he do?
“Either you die as a villain, or you live long enough to become the protagonist’s secondary friend who is in love and will never be reciprocated,” he said after a sip of energy drink, which seemed to make him more depressed.
Idia hated that kind of character. It was the most pathetic existence an author could bother to create. The Protagonist’s Friend is a role that always falls on zero or one thousand: they get the love they want somehow or they end up alone, apparently happy and resigned to their situation.
Movies created this illusion that the Protagonist’s Friend could have their small and banal dreams come true, just being there as unconditional support. A being without their own will who lived only for their love, blind to the protagonist’s obnoxious defects, ready and well trimmed to be a good doormat every hour.
But people like that never get what they want in real life. They are used and discarded like the aluminum containers that contained the energy drink Idia drank. People always look this Friend up and down, despising them.
Idia didn't want to be like that, under any circumstances. He could be a quitter, a coward, but he had a shred of dignity that he held on to with all his might.
More than wanting to force himself on you and make you realize that “the love of your life was right there in front of you” — wearing a worn-out and a little sweaty coat, ready to make you the new deity who would reign in his underworld — Idia just wanted to see you happy.
It was a strange feeling. No one but Ortho deserved this kind of wish from him. Perhaps Idia had little hope that you would ever truly love him. Maybe he was afraid to take a step, to do something concrete and then see it collapse in front of him.
However, if you could smile with all your strength, with the brightness that wakes the world for spring, Idia could sleep well at night. He admired your beauty from afar, reinforcing the distance between you, six feet underground. Letting his heart dwell on the selfish desire to convince you to stay in that underworld was useless, he just knew. He should just let you go.
“How do you get through this phase so fucking easily?! Is a hack? Codes? Tell me, you damn stove!,” you were amusingly aggressive when you played something together. Idia laughed at you.
“Hacks? You dare insult my abilities, mortal? These dark circles in my eyes are the fruit of all my efforts,” Idia smiled. You got distracted for a moment by seeing how the light from the computer’s screen reflected off his teeth, in such a big, rare smile. Precious. “And... you lost again!”
“Yep, it seems so,” you agreed.
Idia was too busy giving the commands to repeat the game phase level — and letting out his small, cute chuckles — to see that you were smiling in his direction with unmatched tenderness.
Lately, you have been spending more time with Idia — which was nice, you always wanted to get to know him better. If only you could have approached each other more without being at the expense of a sad experience.
Breakups are always difficult. It’s like the arid autumn that heralds the coldest of winters. However, day after day, finding Vil in the hallway or bumping into a picture of him in a magazine didn’t ache your heart like before. The pain no longer trampled you like a dry leaf on the sidewalk. It was a slow but continuous process.
A change of scenery may have helped with that. Ramshackle’s dorm was slowly being fixed but many things brought back memories of your friends’ presence at the VDC’s preparation time. It made you think of simpler times, where everything was seemingly fine — although that wasn't exactly the case, for any of you.
Ignihyde, on the other hand, carried a different feel.
You noticed this on your first visit, when Ortho took you to Idia’s bedroom and you let yourself vent about your sadness. But, every time you entered their mirror and climbed the black stairs to reach the lounge, you started to notice more things in that cold, silent and mysterious place.
It was as if you had died — or for some reason, arrived in the World of the Dead — but, what was supposed to be lamentation turned out to be a comfortable feeling.
Being there for a long time made you realize that there were things up there in the outside world that you missed and that longing made you realize that life could be much more than a broken heart. At the same time, there was beauty and tranquility in solitude. Would you feel that way when you die?
Funny enough, Idia always makes you feel more alive. That feeling has always been there, somehow. You didn’t know if Idia had any idea about that. Your desire to provoke his little smiles, to see his golden eyes sparkle like a living flame.
At first, you were afraid of what your heart was presenting. You didn’t want to make another mistake and make another person you liked suffer unnecessarily. A whisper from Tartarus tried to tell you that you were just pretending to fall in love with Idia to forget Vil, as if the altar of a new god was set up on top of the old one.
But that wasn’t the truth of your feelings.
“...shi? Hey?,” Idia’s voice sounded in your ears, calling your name.

| Special notes: The playlist that is mentioned is a irl playlist I actually made just for the sake of this fic, posted in my sideblog @myplaylists-angeli that has other twst playlists. The playlist itself doesn’t strictly mean that this is only Reader’s sadness but it can also be Vil’s. Or you just want a sad playlist about love, pls feel at home to listen to. It’s not finished, so if you want to suggest a song (there’s a post about it here), you can!
Until tomorrow, my dear. We’ll wrap up the last part of this request and maybe the day after, have this final post that will declare the end of this event. ‘Till there, have my sincere yet fast words of gratitude for enjoying my writing and supporting me all this way. You all are the best <3 |
