hi anon!! I've actually never seen anyone saying this, but that might be because I'm very new to the fandom and haven't seen much Idia content so far. I agree with you, tho, I think him (and most of the boys at NRC too) would definetly know what it is!

wait I'll put this under the cut it's time for my (not so in depth) Idia analysis!!

ok so first things first, fair warning: this is my own personal interpretation and it might not be a 100% correct, anyone is allowed to disagree!

another fair warning: I've only caught up with the english server so far so I haven't read the Ignihyde chapter yet, which means I still have a lot to see about Idia, but I don't wanna get spoilers so I'll be going with the knowledge I have from the main story, events and vignettes.

the thing with Idia is that, at a surface level, he's just another Gamer Nerd TM stereotype that's a shut-in with no friends nor social skill and yada yada, and that's what some people might take him for, especially at first glance. I've seen people saying he'd be those misogynistic gamers that have never seen a girl in his life or the ones that think you absolutely have to prove you know everything about a game to be a fan of it. and I know that's all in good fun of course but! I don't agree with it at all!

in my point of view, yes Idia is very introverted and reclusive and he's socially awkward, but that doesn't mean he's that stereotypical gamer, which is what makes him so interesting in the first place! he breaks those expectations you have for his character and shows a lot more depth than this label! I'm not saying he doesn't play into the role at all, but I think he's very well written to break some common patterns.

like! he's such a sweet older brother! he might love his games and his alone time and his room, but he loves Ortho more than those things and would go out of his comfort zone for him (like in the recent Wish Upon a Star event which is one of my favorites btw). he gets very talkative and almost sassy when speaking about something he likes! (like in Azul's school uniform vignette). and yes he can be selfish and headstrong and rude (like in the Ghost Bride event), as is expected for a student of NRC, but that doesn't eliminates his positive traits.

where am I going with this and how does it even ties into the question? it's because in those gamer stereotypes, you'd expect him to not know anything about afab people that isn't in one of his games and have no friends to tell him otherwise. but I think he (and most at NRC) is very educated and would know, you know, basic biology. plus I actually wasn't aware his family's company is about health (I thought it had smth to do with technology, since as I mentioned I haven't read the chapter yet), but since that's the case it's even one extra motive for him to know about it.

like, it's definetly not on top of his mind and he probably never has given it any thought but he does know, it's just not something he has do deal with on a daily basis.

TL;DR: I agree with you anon, Idia is very interesting and there's more than what meets the eye to him, so he doesn't fall into a clear cut stereotype that people often take him for!

I absolutely loved chapter 6 it’s honestly my favorite chapter (It probably helps that Idia is my fav character) I was so excited to watch it when I found the translation on YouTube but when I watched it for the first time I literally sobbed because of how emotional the story is ;u; still a 10/10 plot but man was it sad- 🦭

I haven’t really thought of this until now but I feel like it’s hard for people without strict parents, Ace, to understand just how much having strict parents can affect you mentally and physically. With the way that Ace speaks to Riddle it’s nice but also somewhat insensitive he talks like growing up with strict parents only really meant that you were sheltered but having strict parents is so much more then that. Riddle doesn’t just think his mom is right because she’s distinguished he’s forcing himself to believe everything she taught him was right because if she was wrong that meant he missed out on EVERYTHING. Every “normal” experience others have had hes never experienced hanging out with friends, learning how to build proper bonds with friends, eating “bad” food, having sleepovers, having any interest that isn’t school related, these and more are things often regarded as normal but when you grow older while having strict parents and you start to remember your childhood all you can really focus on is the lack of one you had. Not having any childhood friends you can happily talk about without remembering your parents splitting your friendship is really depressing, and hearing others talk about all the times they’ve hung out with friends, all the times they were able to just be regular kids, while you have none to look back on sucks. Riddle was so upset because if his mom was wrong then that meant he had wasted all of his life until that point. -Sincerely someone with heavily strict parents

I agree with you, especially taking in consideration how suffocating Riddle's mom is, not letting her son have friends or choose what he wants to do in his free time or what he wants to eat, enforcing him to follow the rules down to a t. it's really heart wrenching to think Riddle was never allowed to be just a kid, there's a heavy weight of expectations on his shoulders that never allowed him to. I think you put it very eloquently anon, Riddle has every right to be upset about his unfair situation.

even when he was in the wrong as well, being strict to the point of tyrany, and needed to learn that what he was doing was wrong, I understand he was doing it because it's all he's ever known. how else was he supposed to take care of Heartslabyul if that's what he learnt to be the right way? he demands a lot out of the students because he has high expectations for them, he wants them to reach their full potential and to make the best out of NRC as they can, he cares about them and about his dorm. "I'm doing this because I love you." "it hurts me to be this strict, but you must learn your place." "you are better than this, you can do better than them." that's probably what he grew up hearing and that's what he thinks is right.

so to learn all his nights of studying, all the time he spent knowing the queen's rules by heart, all the effort he put into being the best, into making his mother proud, into being the son she wanted to have, it was all... for nothing? he could have eaten that candy he reaaally wanted to that one time, or he could have sleept for a little longer, or he could have watched the show all his classmates were talking about, or he could have played in the mud with them, and none of it is wrong, it's just being a kid. it's certainly a lot to take in.

and I think Ace comes from an opposite background. from the amount of mischief he causes and his devil may care attitude, I think his parents may be very lenient with him. so things he thinks about as normal are a different reality from Riddle's normal. that's why they clash heads so much, they have completely different world views and backgrounds that have molded them as people. Ace was right in calling Riddle out on his wrongdoings, but he didn't go the best way about it, that's for sure. their relationship is so interesting because of these differences, how they are both in the right and in the wrong at the same time, how they may clash heads but are still on the same dorm with a certain mutual respect between them.

anon, I'm sorry if you had a childhood similar to his, I hope at least now you're able to experience the things you couldn't before and are broadening your horizons! know that you have a right to be upset about it, your feelings are totally valid! take good care of yourself <3

the croc one could definetely be part of the inspo!! tho I think the lightning is the most prominent aspect used for his character, it would surely explain where the whole half crocodile fae thing came from without getting Tick Tock involved!!

things I noticed about the broom bloom birthday cards (based on ONLY Jamil & Ace)

This might give us some insight on the patterns future cards in this series might have! Please note that this may become outdated when other cards roll around.

I didn’t notice any pattern for the interviewers yet except that Silver and Epel happen to be in the same year as the birthday boys they spoke with.

It seems like a lot of the interview questions themselves are centered around magic, the birthday boy’s feelings about it, and how it is used (what is his best subject, how strong of a flier is he, what makes him glad that he is able to use magic, etc). More magic lore?????? 👀 We also get a few more personal questions about what the boy hopes to do in the future and what they do in the future.

It seems that both Jamil and Ace’s bouquets have dahlias in them, which are the birth flower for the month of September. This may indicate that future birthday boys’ bouquets will also feature their respective birth month flower.

Something I noticed when Ace was teased was that his background and Jamil’s are flipped. Notice how the sun is on our left side in Jamil’s but on the right side in Ace’s. I was wondering why that was…? But then I saw their Groovies (spoilers below the cut) and I thought maybe it was to indicate different times of day??? Jamil’s is clearly at daytime and Ace’s at night… but that’s kind of weird considering that the sun rises in the east (Ace’s) and sets in the West (Jamil’s).

Continuing from the last point, maybe the difference is Groovy lighting and sun placement is because Jamil is first in the month (day) and Ace is later in the month (night)? Maybe the two boy that share a birthday per month will follow the day/night look.

Hmm, what about the boys who are the only ones in a particular month (Sebek for March and Leona for July)? Maybe they’ll be somewhere inbetween day and night, or maybe Sebek will be day (since he comes first) and Leona will be night?

WAIT THAT'D BE SO FUN, imagine Kalim but he's not just acting well now, he honestly thinks he's an werewolf LMAOO Jamil would struggle so much. OR JACK AND HIS PIRATE ACCENT, I think he'd still listen to Leona bc he's the "captain of the ship" and do whatever he asks (Leona will use this power). Vil and Epel trying to bite other people's necks (and Rook probably would help them "hunt") while people are like "wow Vil is so good at getting in character, he's an acting genius!" Idia would basically get really into his cosplay so maybe at first his dormmates wouldn't even notice something wrong lol

and Cater with his clones? menaces. Heartslabyul's graveyard would become a hardcore escape room. Azul and Jade then? people are walking around covered in bandages. Diasomnia? rip to whoever angers Lilia and Malleus 🙏

Here are the roles for the other characters in my fic, i’ve become the villain’s lover! I’ve also included a sentence or two on how they would be as love interests. The difference with the side characters is that you’d have to be the one to pursue them, unlike how the housewardens try to pursue you. The housewardens would respect your decision no matter what, but would probably be a bit more happy if you decided to date someone from within their dorm (they’re petty like that).

Ace Trappola: The new, impish knight that Riddle hired. He followed in his brother’s footsteps, but doesn’t seem to take his job very seriously, playing petty pranks that often lead to hour long lectures from Riddle. Still, he’s skilled and quick-witted, and Riddle has admitted that he sees potential in him. He treats you like an old friend, quick to sling his arm around you and complain about Riddle’s temper. He’ll flirt with you as a joke, but if you don’t shy from his advances, he may take it a bit more seriously…

Deuce Spade: The other new hire who’s determined to prove himself. Coming from humble origins, Deuce once fell into a group of thieves and almost committed to a lifetime of crime before he heard his mother cry over him. After that, he turned over a new leaf and trained to become a knight to make her proud. Well intentioned but prone to accidents due to his straightforward and gullible nature, Deuce is often teased by Ace. Still, it was easy for him to fall for you at first sight. He’s determined to keep his feelings to himself, but if you reciprocate, then you might have a loyal knight pledging himself to you for the rest of your life…

Trey Clover: Riddle’s most trusted vassal, and a man born into a commoner family. He’s known Riddle since they were very little, and when he became a knight, Riddle was the first to appoint him. This caused a stir because knights are usually appointed from noble families. Still, Trey is genial and well liked, and does his job diligently. He treats you well, often pausing to pat your head and ask how your day has been. He tells you that if you need anything, don’t hesitate to knock on his door. Trey seems to treat you a little more kinder than others, but is that because you’re important to Riddle, or to Trey himself?

Cater Diamond: Cater is carefree and bright, and the most popular of Riddle’s vassals by far. Though his origins are unknown, as he simply wandered into town one day, Cater claims he comes from a minor noble family. Despite his seemingly open personality and endless list of friends, Cater keeps everyone at a measured distance. He’s friendly and affectionate with you, but if you attempt to start a relationship with him, perhaps you might be the first person to break down his walls…

Jack Howl: A man intensely loyal to Leona, Jack admires him for his strength and intelligence— though they often argue over Leona’s underhanded methods. How did a man as straight laced as Jack ever become entangled with Leona, anyways? Perhaps it’s because Jack seeks to best Leona one day. Though he acts gruff and uninterested, Jack often accompanies you around town and handles minor repairs around your house without complaint. And with the way Jack’s tail wags around you, a relationship might not be as hard to start as you initially thought…

Ruggie Bucchi: Leona’s most trusted aide and right hand man. If Leona gives orders, then Ruggie is the one carrying out the grunt work and getting his hands dirty. Born in the slums, Ruggie believes whole heartedly in Leona’s cause and wants to make a difference in their country. Wily and clever, Ruggie will follow you around town and make you laugh while his fingers inch closer to your wallet. Despite his mentality that it’s a dog-eat-dog world, it seems he may have developed a soft spot for you… Now, what will you do about that?

Jade Leech: Along with his brother, Jade and Floyd have known Azul since he was young, along with every sordid detail of his past. Though polite and calm on the surface, underneath that, Jade is always seeking a new source of amusement. He carries out all of Azul’s plans flawlessly, and handles the blackmail and interrogations for him. It seems like he’s deemed you a new source of entertainment, but perhaps his feelings run a little deeper than that…

Floyd Leech: Someone who lives by his whims, Floyd is temperamental and capricious. He handles the physical aspects of Azul’s plans, such as threatening debtors who refuse to fulfill their contracts. He doesn’t seem terribly interested in people outside of his family or his close friends, but you seem to have caught his interest due to all your unpredictable actions. It’s up to you if you want to integrate yourself into his inner circle, or pursue something farther with him…

Kalim Al-Asim: After everything that happened, Kalim sees you as a close friend! Kind, sweet, and always willing to see the good in others, it’s no wonder that Kalim ended up as your favorite character in the novel. He basically treats you like a partner, always affectionately curling up to you or inviting you out to eat whilst holding hands. It seems Kalim’s feelings towards you are frustratingly vague, so it’s up to you to define what you want them to be.

Epel Felmier: In Epel’s eyes, the two of you have been through thick and thin, so he’s very fond of you already. It’s easy to be himself around you, and not the perfect gentleman Vil is training him to be. His accent slips through while you talk, and the two of you often work on a little garden that Epel has planted out back. However, Epel seems to be a bit moodier than usual when you spend time with others, and tries to impress you with great feats of strength when you’re around. Now, what could the source of this change be?

Rook Hunt: Vil’s right hand man, and a retainer who has been by his side for years. It’s hard to get a handle on him: there are no details on his past despite his exuberant nature, and he has a habit of sneaking up on others. Vil often sends Rook on… tasks… that take him days to complete. Rook is completely charmed by you, though, and often espouses your beauty and talent. Rook welcomes any advances you would make on him with open arms; whether he experiences the beauty of love himself or watches it blossom in front of him, he will always have his eye on you.

Sebek Zigvolt: Sebek comes from a long line of fae knights who have pledged their service to the Draconia family, and takes pride in his heritage. However, he suffers from insecurity over the knowledge that his father is an ordinary human. He’s determined to prove himself worthy of his title, and seems to view you as a nuisance. However, he is the first to draw his sword to protect you, so perhaps there might more to his feelings than hostility…

Silver: Silver is Lilia’s adopted human son, though no one knows precisely where he hails from. It’s said that Lilia simply showed up one day in the palace, covered in blood and carrying a snoozing baby. There are rumors that Silver is the child of an enemy general, or from an enemy kingdom, though Silver himself seems content with his current family. It might take him a bit to realize your feelings towards him, but he’ll always welcome you to the palace with a gentle smile and an outstretched hand, no matter his own feelings.

Lilia Vanrouge: Malleus’s advisor and someone who has watched over him for a long, long time. You’ve heard whispers that in the far past, he was a great general who led the kingdom to numerous victories. Though there are contradicting accounts on Lilia’s precise age, everyone agrees that he was tasked by the now retired queen to watch over her grandson, Malleus. Though he has seen much and lost many, Lilia is not afraid to embrace new relationships in his life. He seems to take your potential interest in him as a challenge…
