Alastor and Lucifer are both autistic but in different flavors.

Lucifer is depressed disassociating hyperfixation can barely focus on this conversation time has no meaning sensory seeking autistic.

Alastor is I’m making facial expressions my new thesis statement so nobody says anything ever again I will act a very specific way routines I do not like change don’t touch me unless I say you can autistic.

Lucifer has made apples and ducks his entire personality. Alastor has made radio and smiling his entire personality.

I’m doing my best but failing visibly and I’m in a downward spiral bc of it autism VS I don’t know what’s going on or how to actually act around other people so I’ve made it my mission to be prepared for all social situations yet clearly can’t see how over the top I’m acting in an attempt to mask autism.

Lucifer cannot hold a conversation to save his life, and says things too honestly, at the wrong time, and uses phrases wrong. Alastor, being a talkative character who was a radio host, is actually either scripting, or using actual radio static/channel tuning sounds or music to emote and further the conversation along without having to actually speak half the time, and when not using gentlemanly scripting is otherwise blunt and rude.

They’re both barely hanging on for different reasons and my autistic ass is just like pointing at the screen, like there’s so many other reasons they’re messes, obviously, but ALSO the autism!

I headcannon Alastor as autistic and sure I can explain all my reasons but this is more important:

So I really like the direction they're taking Alastor's character in.

Of course there's the part where they confirm that he is owned by someone and he has this really visceral mental breakdown and that makes him sympathetic.

But also in the 7th ep he ends up making a deal with Charlie where she owes him a favor, which as of now doesn't seem that big of a deal or dangerous to Charlie, and immediately after that his demeanor changes quite a bit. He's genuinely nice and helpful to Charlie the whole rest of this and the next ep.

He also introduces her to Rosie who's exactly who Charlie needed in terms of helping her defend the hotel and giving her relationship advice.

We get to see Alastor's wholesome relationship with Rosie and hear her saying "Alastor has never done me wrong before" and we know she deals with him a lot. I wonder if that means

1) he's at the hotel to find a way to free himself and is very desperate about it and so he calms down a bit and becomes less hostile once he feels safer about his situation. That Charlie WILL help him once he needs it.

or 2) deals are in general a way in which he knows how to form relationships with ppl and so Rosie (and now Charlie) going along with it is what allows him to feel more secure/in control, let his guard down and genuinely bond with them.

Context: Lucifer is lonely after the (supposed) divorce and unconsciously ends up pinning for his nemesis/frenemy.

After past experience with Vox, Alastor can almost immediately tell when someone is crushing on him, so he did the only reasonable thing for an Aroace person to do in that situation. 👍

"Vox will be the main antagonist of season two" okay. And Angel Dust will simply teach Alastor the fine arts of "flirting" and "leading people on". This is how they orchestrate Vox's downfall.

I love the idea of just. taking advantage of vox's obsession with alastor to the hotel crew's advantage (did any of them hear ANY part of stayed gone? I mean there's a radio in the main room so they had to have at least heard alastor's part if not vox's), I find it incredibly funny if like one way or another they find out that vox tried to ask alastor OUT and their first solution is to use alastor to their advantage and alastor begrudgingly agrees (after recovering from the shock of the revelation which went something like "what")

Anyway, happy valentine day sike, it's Aro week and we are begrudgingly going on dates to help our friends with their heist.
