Another thing about autistic Dean in spn. Why does everyone say Sam and Dean are Autism + ADHD?

Like, I'm sure Dean has ADHD, but like, come on people. His autistic traits are right there! He's literally a media autistic. He loves his movies and his shows and his music. He's also a car and cowboy autistic but still. Most people on this app study pieces of media for fun! Or religiously talk about them. Or make tons of cool art. The fact that more people say Sam has autism than people do aboht Dean is astounding to me.

I'm not saying Sam doesn't have autism. (Though I don't really know his traits. I guess he has low empathy, and knows random facts about random things, I can't really think of any) If anyone knows Sam's autistic traits Id love to hear them! I don't pay as much attention to Sam as I do Dean so I probably missed something.

Every time I see a post about the autism coding in Supernatural and Deans not mentioned I scream.

There is something so frustrating about autism traits being overlooked in characters because there not the 'typical' traits.

And I don't even mean that people overlook it on purpose. I just think that Cas's type of autism is so much more 'oh, it's autism'. Even nuerotypical viewers probably noticed it. However, Dean's autism coding is noticable but it also has a layer of masking and fake ultra masculinity. (Anyone ever notice how Sam is actually the one who's more traditionally masculine or is that just me?) It seems to me that because a character sometimes masks, people ignore the blatant traits.

Or they find him hot and no one can admit that the white guy that they find attractive can possibly be autistic.

These three pieces of media have a trend

I love these movies and shows so much and I want to talk about just one reason I love them:

Autism.

The three main characters of all these franchises have a similar situation. They are all weird and friendless and they have a dream that no one believes that they can accomplish.

Izuku with his dream to be a hero. PO with his dream to be a Kung Fu warrior and Hiccup with his dream (at first) to kill a dragon (which turned into being friends with dragons).

They are all bullied and ridiculed. What I find really interesting though is there's The reason for them being bullied and then the hidden and (seemingly) more likely reason that they are bullied. Izuku is quirkless, no one thinks he can be a hero because he has no powers. PO is big, no one thinks that he has the body to be a warrior and Hiccup is small. As he says, he's a walking fishbone.

However from what I can tell, those are merely (horrible, might I add) excuses to hate on them. Like what gobber says, 'its what's on the inside that they can't stand.'

What I don't get is that in Mha, 20% of the population is quirkless. In a school of just 300 there would be sixty kids who didn't have a quirk. I know we didn't see much of other quirkless kids but I really do think that the bullying that Izuku received would have been much worse than everyone else. It seems to me that the main reason that they don't like him, (especially Bakugo) is because of his personality. Because he's annoying.

I think that a big reason they hated him was because they noticed autistic traits, didn't understand it was autism (or cared) and didn't like it.

Now with Kung Fu Panda. (I just want to say really quick that I do not mean to take away from the real situations and ridicule that plus size people receive. I know that it happens and I know it can be really bad and I'm sorry for anyone who experienced bullying. I think that Po does face a lot of discrimination just because of his body, I just want to highlight the underlining albeism that seems to be present)

Po in my opinion is so clearly Audhd. He has an intense interest on Kung fu and everything surrounding it. He knows everything about the five, and he misses a ton of social cues. He just blurts things out and doesn't realize how they can be inappropriate for nuerotypical standards.

When Shifu first speaks with him he is immediately unimpressed. Yes, he does bring up (if I can recall correctly) his 'flabby' body. But it was also because Po was so excited and he was speaking in a way that Shifu or one of the five wouldn't. He was describing all the artifacts and knew exactly what the pinky hold was.

In fact, to me, the movie wouldn't have happened if Shifu didn't accept Po's weirdness. Really, in the end, Pos's body shape wasn't a detriment at all and I think Shifu knew this. He's worked with so many different species before, he has to know that every type of body has their own value. He teaches a prey mantis for crying out loud.

And also, I don't think most of Po's insecurities came from his size. To me, he seemed mostly insecure about himself inwardly. (Though I haven't watched the movie in a few months) Come on though, the whole secret ingredient thing? I think there was a reason that when he looked into the scroll it only showed his face.

Yes, his size did help a lot in the fight and I love that part of the movie so much but his creativity and his differentness helped a ton too. He literally imagined the scroll as a comfort food to get to it first... I mean, are they even trying to hide it? (We know it's his comfort food cause he literally did the splits to get to them when he got upset)

I'll move on to How to Train your Dragon now. Hiccup had ADHD. Hiccup has autism. I think that's a universally accepted, right? I think most of the movie is a metaphor for nuerdivergence. The movies already have amazing physical disability representation but that came later. In the first few minutes, we already knew something was different about Hiccup compared to everyone else. He was impulsive, he didn't listen, once he was set on something he was going to accomplish it, he said things without thinking, he was terrible with socializing. Especially with those his age. Gobber said, and I loosely quote, "it's not what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside that he can't stand."

That boy didn't have any friends until he met the dragon that he shot down. I'm sorry, or is that not the most autistic thing you ever heard. It's like autisitic people and their animals. My dog was and is my best friend. Always will be. And a dragon is basically a giant cat/dog, and reptile.

He didn't get friends until his 'uniqueness' set him apart in a 'good' way. It wasn't until he was useful and cool that he got any human friends which is something I wished they touched on in Race to the Edge. Like, Hiccup has to have some insecurity surrounding that, right?

Anyway, my point is, whenever you see a character get bullied. Just remember that they are most likely nuerodivergent and that's probably why none of the characters like them. Peter Parker is included in this list.

the way sam literally had to consent to gadreel possessing him or else it literally does not work. dean cannot and did not give that consent for sam. it's not dean's fault gadreel tricks sam by using dean's likeness in sam's mind to get that consent. and dean asked for gadreel's help in the first place because he thought he was ezekiel and cas had vouched for ezekiel that he was trustworthy. so while sam is totally allowed and valid for feeling upset abt the situation, dumping that blame on dean is pretty unfair since 1.) it was a no win situation and literally in-universe it is equated to a family member signing off on a medical procedure when they are unconscious (however, it deviates from that analogy in the fact that this is a supernatural fantasy show so sam actually does get to consent to this possession in his mind) and 2.) dean hated the situation from the get-go, and was forced into a hostage situation where he could not even tell sam what was going on lest he risk sam dying.

who should sam be angry with? because i do think sam should get to feel how he feels!! but i also do think he is directing it wholly at the wrong person and is being a bit unfair. so who should he be directing his upset feelings toward? maybe the angel that tricked him into giving consent and then proceeded to keep him and dean in a hostage situation, dangling sam's life in the balance for ransom.

not trying to discourse and people can ultimately feel how they want, we're all just playing in this sandbox, but i do think sam is misplacing some of his feelings. and of course dean accepts the blame sam puts on him because that's just how dean is but, just because sam feels that way toward dean and dean takes it doesn't mean that that's like, what actually happened. they were both tricked by 'ezekiel' gadreel !! and it fucking sucks !!

an essential part of finding any enjoyment in late seasons supernatural is imagining early seasons sam dean or even john reacting to what the actual fuck is going on

in the supernatural that exists in my mind, the fact that sam and dean were created as the perfect vessels of the devil and an archangel makes them not totally human. there's a residual darkness and light inside them, respectively. sam especially so, after being fed demon's blood when he was a baby. it just comes up in tiny subtle ways so no one realizes there's something wrong with them

sam's ears always ring when he prays (he thinks it's a sign god is listening). rosaries feel peculiarly warm in his hands but he holds them tight anyway. chanting exorcisms leaves him lightheaded. he brittles any plant under his care no matter how many botanical books he reads. john jokes about how his weird drawings used to scare his preschool teachers but sam has no memory of making them. being inside devil's traps feels a bit like walking through water. he has always had a talent for making people and animals trust him, follow him - entranced like moths to a flame

dean on the other hand... there's an aura around him. he shines from within. people can feel it even if they can't put their finger on why he's just so charming. he wonders why he feels almost sleepy whenever he enters a church, he dislikes being so calm and unguarded. he unknowingly interferes with certain technology and makes it malfunction, like an overvoltage. babies love him but animals seem restless in his presence. when he's taking care of a wounded or ill person they heal a little bit faster but no one notices. reading enochian out loud gives him goosebumps. he thinks holy water tastes really good to everyone else too

I haven't really watched the live action version but I have read the manga and I have to say I do not agree with how people interpret Mob's character.

When I read this it reminds me ALOT of Saiki K, from the wacky situations to the MC. A lot of people say that it's a story of a guy denying his homosexuality. I personally think that he is simply the most aroace character I have ever seen (other than maybe Saiki and Senku from Dr stone)

Sure, he says he straight but we don't see him try to find a girl or even get a crush on a girl. And on the other side, he sometimes says a man is handsome to describe how a BL situation might happen. 'A handsome man like that guy is definitely a MC' kind of thing. But I don't even remember him blushing from a dude and I just reread it all. He doesn't seem flustered when the guy who sat next to him obviously liked him, like always he was annoyed and somewhat confused.

He is in love with food and cats which in my opinion is a very aroace thing to do (from a aroace person) He basically manipulates the people around him to make sure they don't fall for him or make a 'flag'. When Ayato's friend confessed to him, he chased after him to reject him (this is after not getting flustered or even flattered at all, if anything he was panicking because he couldn't see a way out of it) and when he couldn't catch up created a elaborate scheme to make the boy fall in love with another highschooler. That is the aroace life style.
