Her heart rate increased tenfold as the heard the slow, melody of the band. What happens if they find out it’s her? She knew she was about hyperventilate as the room swerved in her vision. She couldn’t do this. She looked towards The Fa hesitantly, who signaled her to breathe. She tried to calm down as she felt the cool air fill her lungs, relishing it before letting it go. Then, a realization came to her. She was Agent Pheoness, one of the best agents in the EOD. Agent Phoenix was probably working his butt off in the wine cellar right underneath her feet, and it was her responsibility to do the same.

She COULD and WILL get through this!

She takes a shaky step forward. If they think she’s a dancer, she IS a dancer.

Like a whole different person, she effortlessly glides across the stage, her eyes closed shut to block out all of the eyes on her as she danced gracefully. She was surprisingly wonderful at it. The rhythm of the music slowly enveloped her nerves as she kept going, letting the symphony put her in a trance. The audience surrounded her were mesmerized by her stunning performance.

Meanwhile, Agent Pheonix had found the mimic mask and gave to Juniper. Turns out the wine cellar had a secret map system inside the counter that he found. Pheonix absentmindedly scrolled through the cameras, taking in everyone’s location until witnessing Pheoness. “Dang, how hard did you punch me, Gibs?” The asked, questioning what he was seeing as he rubbed his good eye. “Well, serves you right, scoundrel!” The newly conscious Gibson snaps “Now don’t touch that console!” Pheonix scoffs and chuckles “Oh shut it, and I thought we were getting along! You were much funner when unconscious.” His eyes didn’t look away from the screen, she certainly played the dancer role well.

She came to a halt when the music stopped. Applause from the audience were muffled by her inner thoughts

She chuckled, heading back to The Fabricator who was clapping softly “You were amazing darling, an absolute muse!” She chuckled “Mon chef-d'œuvre!” (French for my masterpiece) “I bet all those nerves got you absolutely exhausted. Go enjoy the party. You’ve earned it.” With one last hug, Pheoness heads out, finally able to return to Pheonix. She strolled through the ballroom. The beautiful chandelier illuminated the huge room as she plowed through the crowd. She was used to people staring at her, but she wasn’t used to other smiling at her. Usually, agents would stare at her because of her abnormality to the rest of them or was ready to make fun of her, but no, they were smiling. Genuinely. Some even complimented her as she made her way towards the wine cellar. She saw the clearing ahead when she felt a grip on her arm.

“Hey, loved your performance, sweetheart~”

Uh-oh, of course it’s the last person she wants to see. And she was so close too. Pheoness turns around to see John Juniper in an extravagant tuxedo. If only she could’ve worn that so she could have the speed to run. “Ah, Mr Juniper.” She purrs in her fake accent “Lovely to see you.” He kisses the back of her hand, and she has to hold back a gag. What a waste of a perfectly good hand “How do you like the party?” He asks, his voice as smooth as sanded wood. “Oh, it’s just wonderful. Sincerest thanks for letting me preform at your mansion.” He laughs softly “It was nothing, sweetheart. You think I could speak to you, privately?” She raises an eyebrow but nods. Maybe it was valuable information. Juniper led her to the balcony. The moon was close to being full as it worked with the stars to light the midnight sky. “Finally, We’re alone~” He remarks in a suave tone, studying how her dressed fit against her curves. Pheoness didn’t understand but still despised the way he looked at her. “So what did wanna talk about?” She says in a slightly stern tones. He snickered as he got closer to her “Oh, I kinda lied about that, sweetheart. I was think of less talking and more…doing~” her body stiffened as she realized his intentions. It was at this point she wished she could’ve passed seduction class. Does she flirt back? Beat him with her high heels? All she knew that whatever he was doing made her extremely uncomfortable. He backed her into the edge of the balcony, pinning her there. Pheoness looked at the fall, considering her options. It was pretty high up; however, she would rather fall to her death than do whatever he was planning. Unfortunately, she had a mission to accomplish and she had to get to Pheonix. She attempted to get out of his grip, but his body held her in place “Mr Juniper, I really need to get back to the party.” Pheoness stammers, cut off when she felt his hands trailing up and down her hips. Yep, death was way better than this. “Oh, Dollface. I just want to have a little fun. After all the party getting boring anyway.” Juniper leaned so close that she could smell the alcohol on his breath. Great, he was drunk too. Pheoness had to assess her options. Attacking him would cause a huge ruckus and blow both her and Phoenix’s cover, falling would probably kill her, and if she plays along….she doesn’t even want to think of that option. She just wanted him 50 million miles away from her, preferably in the ground. She was practically shaking in discomfort as his hands slid up to caress her face, their lips mere inches apart.

“Mister Juniper!”

Juniper turned around, flinging himself away from her, looking at the man at the doors of the balcony. He was also wearing a mask so it was hard to make out his face. “Security wants you. The sprinklers have just been set off for no reason!” John lets out a frustrated growl and nods, heading inside. He took one last glance at her before vanishing into the crowds of people. The masked man lets out a warm, familiar laugh. No, it couldn’t be….he turned around towards her “I also studied the fine arts as well, Agent.” Oh my goodness….it was. Reginald took off his mask and relief flooded through her body as she tackled him in a hug “Reginald! How did you get in here?!” His large arms encircled her waist, holding her gently. “When you disconnected your earpiece, I thought you were in serious danger and came here. I tried to get in as a guess when they mistook me for a security guard! I told agent Pheonix I’m not too old to be fighting like the good old days! You look….different by the way. Lovely change though.” She laughed before actually taking him in. The moonlight hit his honey colored eyes at just the right angle, illuminating them along with his tanned skin. His soft smile glowed brighter than any star in the sky. There was only one way to describe him, absolutely beautiful. She barely had any time to take it in before a huge THUD shook the building. Worry hit her: could it be a bomb? maybe a mine? She felt Reginald protectively grip her hips, an uncontrollable red tint on her cheeks “I’ll see what that was. Check on Agent Phoenix and stay safe.” He directed before speed walking through the panicking crowd. She was released from cloud 9, shaking out of her thoughts and rushing back to the wine cellar.

In the cellar, Pheonix had a mischievous smirk on his face. It quickly turned into a genuine smile as he saw the room “I didn’t know you could cut a rug, missy!” Of course that was the first thing he brought up. “I had a passion for it when I was younger, okay? End of story. Did you hear that explosion?” Pheonix cackled “Hear it?! I caused it!” Her eyebrows lifted “What?! How?!” He pointed at a small red button on the table that said “Front mines.” but, there seems to be a button with “rear mines” as well “Would you like to do the honors?” Phoenix asked. “I don’t know..Reggie’s here and I don’t wanna accidentally kill him…” Phoenix smirks at her knowingly “It’ll be fine. No ones getting hurt.” He reassured. Pheoness’s hesitant expression turned into a sneaky grin as she set of the last of the lines with a loud

BOOM!

IEYTD Lore #1 Pheoness’s Beginnings

(I totally forgot to give info on how Pheoness acted when she started working with Reginald and Pheonix so here you go!)

Pheoness hears the door of her office creak open just enough to slip an earpiece in her office before it is closed again. Great. Another new Handler. Her track record of Handlers is…not great to say the least. She wouldn’t be surprised if they ditched her for another agent, just like the others. The sound of her phone ringing interrupted her thought process. She picks it up, hearing the familiar voice on the other end, it was Pheonix. She remembers him during spy training. He was so young, so innocent to what he’ll be experiencing here. “Hey Pheoness! You got the earpiece too?” The two were put in an Agent duo, two agents that would work closely together on similar missions and even do them together at times. She doesn’t want to watch the poor thing get slowly withered by the duties they have to fulfill here, but the higher ups gave her no choice. It also means they will have the same Handler. “Yea, Pheonix I got it.” She responded unenthusiastically, getting the earpiece and putting it in her ear, a man who sounded like he was in his 50s came from the earpiece “Greetings Agents, I will be your handler, I will guide you if needed.” Pheonix nodded a cheerful “okay” while Pheoness rolled her eyes “And lemme guess, you just sit on your butt all day while we’re out here risking our lives?” There it was. She just HAD to make another snarky comment. She couldn’t help it though, it was in her nature to shut people out, and she couldn’t even say sorry due to her stubbornness. There seemed to be silence from both The Handler and Pheonix for a little while before Handler spoke up “Well, looks like someone has an attitude.” He replied with a slightly exhausted tone “I’m so sorry, sir. She doesn’t mean it!” Pheonix said in a panic “Oh, it’s really alright..I have heard your reports Mrs Pheoness. I saw you were a wild card so I took the job.” “Yea, that’s what they all say until they reach their snapping point.” She scoffed “Can you at least keep your comments to yourself for 5 minutes so I can explain your first mission?” She thought about it for a second before sighing “Fine, say what you need to say, Handler.”

And that’s how Operation Friendly Skies began:)
