Larry sat cross-legged on the worn-out cushions in his treehouse, flipping through a sketchbook filled with doodles and drawings. The treehouse, a place of solace and creativity, was his sanctuary, adorned with posters of bands, comic books, and his own artwork. It was late afternoon, and the golden rays of the setting sun filtered through the leaves, casting a warm glow on everything.

Y/n, Larry's boyfriend, sat across from him on the floor, strumming softly on an acoustic guitar. The melodies he played were gentle and soothing, a perfect backdrop for their quiet time together. They often retreated here to escape the chaos of the outside world, to be in a space where they could just be themselves.

Larry looked up from his sketchbook, watching Y/n's fingers dance over the guitar strings. "You know, you're getting really good," Larry remarked with a smile. "I love listening to you play."

Y/n chuckled, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. "Thanks. I guess I've been practicing a lot. It's nice, you know? To have something to put my energy into."

They continued in comfortable silence for a while, Y/n playing and Larry sketching. The air was filled with the scent of pine and the distant sounds of summer, a cicada's song mingling with the rustle of leaves. It felt like time had slowed down, allowing them to savor the moment.

Larry set his sketchbook aside, leaning back on the wall's cushions and sighing deeply. Y/n noticed the shift in his demeanor and set the guitar down, his eyes filled with concern. "What's on your mind, Larry?"

Larry hesitated, his gaze drifting to the floor. He'd always found it hard to talk about his feelings, especially about the things that hurt the most. But there was something about Y/n's presence, his quiet understanding, that made Larry feel safe.

"It's... it's about my dad," Larry began, his voice barely above a whisper. He took a deep breath, as if summoning the courage to continue. "He disappeared when I was a kid. Just... vanished. No one knows where he went or why. It's like he just walked out of our lives and never looked back."

Y/n listened intently, his expression softening with empathy. He reached out, taking Larry's hand in his, offering silent support.

Larry continued, his voice shaky. "He was my hero, you know? We used to build things together, like this treehouse. He always said it was our special place. But then, one day, he was gone. Mom fell apart, and I... I felt like I lost a part of myself."

He paused, swallowing hard. "I've always wondered if it was something I did, something that drove him away. I've never talked about it with anyone, not really. It just hurts too much."

Y/n squeezed Larry's hand gently. "Larry, it wasn't your fault. Whatever happened, it had nothing to do with you. Sometimes people make choices we can't understand, and they leave us with questions that may never be answered. But that doesn't mean you're to blame."

Larry looked up, meeting Y/n's eyes. There was a depth of sincerity in Y/n's gaze that made his chest ache with emotion. He felt a tear slip down his cheek, and Y/n reached out to wipe it away, his touch tender and comforting.

"You're not alone in this," Y/n said softly. "I'm here for you, always. And if you ever want to talk about it, or if you just need a shoulder to lean on, I'm right here."

Larry felt a warmth spread through him, a feeling of acceptance and love that he hadn't known he needed. He nodded, a small, grateful smile forming on his lips. "Thank you, Y/n. It means a lot to me."

They sat there, hand in hand, surrounded by the quiet of the treehouse and the fading light of the day. In that moment, Larry felt a sense of peace, a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, things would be okay. With Y/n by his side, he knew he could face whatever came his way.
