I just read a book in my school library about samurai facts and now I wonder if Hakuji's father was once a samurai?

The hairstyle his father had fit in cause samurai style their hair like that to make it easier to wear helmets. Perhaps Hakuji learnt how to fight from his father until the illness came in? That, or his father has samurai friends who taught Hakuji how to fight. I am not sure the timeline of Hakuji was in tho. If Hakuji's father was a samurai, I wonder which clan he used to be in.
