When in doubt, draw Jackrabbit (Post-easter version)
This is all I can think about in this drama 🤣🤣
the sillies
i like the lore that piandao trained zuko but i don't think it was exactly the wholesome adoption that people like to do with zuko and any father figures. like in my mind piandao receives a letter from the fire lord like "the crown prince sucks at firebending and you're the best swordsman in the nation so we are sending him to be trained. this is non-optional" and piandao's legitimately contemplating committing treason rather than compromise his values and then the end of the the letter is like "we know you're usually selective we'll pay whatever" and piandao's like. okay FINE please pay me an absolutely ridiculous amount. and ozai agrees bc anything to get his failson out of his hair and piandao sends the money to the white lotus to fund a resistance group in the earth kingdom
and baby zuko, that turtleduck-loving mama's boy theater nerd, arrives on his doorstep and this is where most people would have him change his tune but piandao's just like "sure he seems cute now but he'll grow up to do imperialism". he teaches zuko the dual swords, a commoner's weapon, bc the ideal path for this kid who seems way too nice to be part of the royal family is to give it all up. but he doesn't think that's gonna happen. like iroh comes for a visit and he also seems nicer than the rest of the royal family but he did the siege of ba sing se so like. what does it matter that zuko likes theater and turtleducks and his mommy? he can still hate the earth kingdom and water tribes.
all of this is going on in his head, of course. in his actual interactions with zuko he's a very kind and patient teacher. he knows ozai's a bad dad and he wants to at least try to help this kid onto a better path. but it's not until he hears about the banishment and reports of a guy in a theater mask with dual swords committing treason that he's actually like "oh shit maybe there's some hope for this kid after all"
and he only really adopts him post-canon when iroh fucks off to ba sing se and SOMEBODY needs to help this poor kid navigate fire nation politics and i guess that's gonna be me. okay actually i like him now :) maybe i'll set him up with sokka
Justifying the marauders being bullies is not only shitty and biased on the marauders fans part, but also contradictory to the Harry Potter franchise. I find it so funny seeing fans attempt to justify them as if their entire story isnt supposed to be a plot device for Harry, as if the bullying isn't supposed to shatter all of Harry's superficial views on his parents, and make him realize how truly shitty they had been. Or more specifically, how shitty James had been.
" What was making Harry so horrified and unhappy, was not being shouted at or having jars thrown at him, it was that he knew how it felt to be humiliated in the middle of a circle of on lookers, knew exactly how Snape had felt as his father had taunted him. And that judging from what he had just seen, his father had been every bit as arrogant as Snape had always told him. "
" I wouldn't like you to judge your father on what you saw there, Harry. He was only fifteen--"
"Im fifteen," said Harry heatedly.
The entire premise is supposed to be about Harry. Harry's realization, Harry coming to terms with reality. So you denying that the marauders were bullies is denying Harry's arc, its denying a whole plot point in the books. Regardless if you like Snape or not, one fact is clear, the marauders were bullies, they were all shitty people, Sirius' selfishness, Remus being the definition of a deadbeat, Peter being well, Peter. And James being the bully and bigot that he were, alongside the other marauders aswell.
Also its fine to enjoy the fanon versions, i do aswell. But its also important to acknowledge that they were shitty people and we shouldn't condemn them. Especially if you're talking about the bullying, because attempting to diminish someone's harassment is really low considering these are all fictional characters, whilst bullying is a real active issue.
Even in childhood, I knew the light was always yours, and even in death, it remains so. But the darkness was always mine, following me into my final breaths, just as it had shadowed me all my life.

Okay y’all, some ‘Why The Plumbers Ain’t Shit’ in a nice, easy to understand list
11-yo gets thrown into maximum security adult prison (’but achi he is Powerful’ and power limiters are fucking canon and shown to be able to render even him managable)
14-yo is not only accepted into the Academy but becomes a full fledged Plumber (hello child labor)
In fact multiple underage teens are accepted into the Academy and become full fledged Plumbers
Magister comes to Earth to investigate allegations of vigilantism, finds trio of teenagers fighting off invasion, makes no move to help them with it (which is, if later episodes involving invasions are accurate, his job) beyond deputizing them and fucking off
Man actively tells his grandchildren to recruit other children to fight off an invasion rather than get in touch with other Plumbers even within their family and soon ends up running the system (nope, that’s not a sign of bullshit, when someone recruits children for war over involving other adults and is rewarded for it)
Man is fired from Plumbers? Entire family can no longer turn to law enforcement when needed
Plumber steals from Plumbers? Fire him. Investigate no further, not even to find the stolen items.
Plumber official walks into base, admits to performing illegal experiments on children and making them into child soldiers using Plumber funding in front of God and everyone? Do nothing until his victims wreck his entire shit
Plumber official has gotten his entire shit wrecked by the victims of his slavery and illegal experiments? Sentence his entire team to life imprisonment in hellscape dimension with no trial, no judge, take all evidence, never speak of matter again
Teenager sacrifices his sanity saving the galaxy, becomes dangerously violent? Have his younger bestfriend murder him, insist it’s the only option
Department of Inhuman Resources
Insta-portals to the hellscape dimension are standard enough issue that nobody questions implanted memories or reports of them being used on criminals without an arrest
This despite it being shown that the hellscape dimension is a deathtrap that can kill you quickly and that entrance does not alert anyone to come looking
Law enforcement agency with no known governmental oversight and their own Black Ops group
And that’s off the top of my head. If you think of anything else, please feel free to add.
