This is not harmful to white representation, but it is certainly harmful to colored representation. There are far more white characters than there are colored characters. But casting a black character in the place of a white character is harmful: You are not creating an original coloured character, you are simply recasting a coloured individual in a character written with a white individual in mind. How many lead colored characters exist with comparison to white ones?
not to be that one person but casting a colored character in the place previously held by a white person isn't progressive. it's a deliberate cash grab. remakes, unnecessary sequels, and new spinoffs for characters are prone to flop. To make as much money as possible, they cast colored people in the shoes of white people. The result is widespread applause and rage on social media, which does the marketing. People who initiate boycotts inadvertently cause others to watch the show out of curiosity, and people who hail the 'progressive politics' of the show on social media influence others with similar values to watch the show.
love it when birds chirp next to my window and cock their little heads at me. i see you too baby
Pronouns are peepee/poopoo and you will address the queen as such
Avengers: Age of Ultron wrote Natasha Romanoff so badly that it was hilarious, and also gave her barely any screen time. But I'm tired of people saying that she was written badly because one of her most painful memories was being sterilized, or the fact that she considered herself to be a monster because she couldn't give birth. She isn't less of a strong female character because she wanted the capacity to bear children. If you think a woman's desire to bear children, or to want the capacity to bear children is somehow non-feminist, you should take a nice nap and think about why you would think that way. Natasha had her autonomy taken from her. She was in a line of work that took advantage of the fact that she was a woman. She was told she was nothing but a whore and a weapon. She was never nurtured, and was never given the chance or the option to nurture someone else, whether it was a child or a love interest. Natasha considering herself to be a monster because she was altered in a permanent way is harmful, but not abnormal or an insignificant characterization.
