I genuinely believe the reason Dazai wants to protect Atsushi at all cost is because he has grown to care for him. It's not even because of Oda's promise or because of the huge bounty on Atsushi or even his big bad final boss plan for the future. He sees a little bit of himself in Atsushi, or more likely, the version of him that could have existed if he wasn't fucked up since he was a child.

Dazai admires Atsushi for the person he is, something he himself could never become.

Atsushi is someone innocent, naive, good at heart and caring. Someone that changes other people through his kindness and love. Someone who has gone through so many horrific things and still retains his humanity.

At this point Dazai has completely accepted his love (platonic) for Atsushi and his entire mission hinges on that.

Everyday I feel like my country failed me, and many others who couldn't do what they want because their country still lives in the conservative 1900s.

I just started watching "Apothecary diaries" and I absolutely love it.

The fact the story, a seinen, is able to have a female protagonist and not make her "Not like other girls", cool, smart but not a perfect genius, strong but not a fighter and scary....like actually SCARY without making her look down on or trying to put down other women.......AHHHHHH

Jinshi is amazing as a male lead, I haven't seen a "pathetic jealous pretty boy" since Tamaki in Ouran highschool host club.

All the side characters are well written and have their own time to shine.

And the way the story is not afraid of talking about the darker themes of the time, or sugarcoating them is really admirable.

Honestly, it has become one of my favourite shows ever.

Kunikida: *spit's his drink out*

Atsushi: Dazai-san, you have 1000 ex's, nobody wants to stay with you. BOOM ROASTED.

Dazai, chuckles: that was a good one

Atsushi: Chuuya-san, you are 5'3. BOOM ROASTED.

Chuuya: WHAT THE FUCK YOU SAID KID?

Dazai: this is hilarious

Atsushi: Akutagawa, you look like a malnourished Victorian child who likes hot-topic. BOOM ROASTED.

Akutagawa: Jinko, when I get to you!

Atsushi: Ranpo-san, you are a glorified man-child. BOOM ROASTED.

Ranpo, eating dino nuggies: I won't deny

Atsushi: Yosano-sensei....you literally save our lives, I can't say anything bad about you

Yosano: awwww

Chuuya: that's a bit unfair!

Atsushi: Poe-san, you are a simp. BOOM ROASTED.

Poe, watching everything hiding behind a door: y-you actually noticed me, I am flattered!

Atsushi, takes a deep breath: Fukuzawa-san....you spend most of the ADA budget on cat food. I actually agree with that.

Fukuzawa: *nods gravely*

Atsushi: and...Junichiro-kun....you and your sister....do I have to say it? You two are fuc---

Kunikida, drags Atsushi out of the room: that was enough drinking for you!!!!!

*the next morning*

Dazai: I didn't know you had all of this sass inside you!!! That was amazing. You should do it more~

Atsushi, horrified, hiding his face:......I SAID WHAT????

Ravenclaw: I have become accustomed to people being annoying. I am getting better dealing with them after I moved in with my new roommates. They are very unpredictable people---

Hufflepuff: ----Hey give me my pillow back, it's my favourite!!!!!

Gryffindor: I am not giving you this back, I need a pillow, I didn't bring one!

Slytherin: Give me the pillow Gryffindor!

*Gryffindor throws the pillow at Slytherin*

Slytherin: Here, take it *gives it back to Hufflepuff*

Gryffindor: I thought you were on my side! You betrayed me!

Slytherin: I just love watching you get mad.

Gryffindor: How am I supposed to sleep now without a pillow?

Slytherin: we can share one.

Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw: .....

Slytherin: why are you making this a huge deal? I sleep during the day and you sleep during the night, it's simple.

Gryffindor: Oh I thought you wanted to fuck....

Slytherin: you wouldn't?

Gryffindor: unless you want me to.

Hufflepuff: ....what is happening.....

Ravenclaw: Told you they are unpredictable, did you think this will be going in that direction?

There are so many details in this one book that it makes complete sense why Donna Tartt took a decade to write it

I can analyse it for a decade and still not understand everything and know every detail 😭😭😭😭

Headcanon (spoilers S5!!!): The reason we don't see Dazai being suicidal (I don't remember a single suicide joke in S5) anymore is because during his time in prison he had therapy sessions with Fyodor and started to change for better. That is why he says to Fyodor "You can't kill me" because he doesn't want to die anymore. It's Dazai showing his appreciation for the therapy sessions by killing Fyodor. What a wonderful friendship.

Do you think the concept of Slytherpuff (Slytherin and Hufflepuff) is adorable or is it just… not your cup of tea?

Honestly I love all of the Hogwarts house pairings if done well. They all have their own fun dynamics.

My favourite is Slytherclaw because of how similar they are. Slytherpuff is also cute and adorable but I am kind of bored with the whole good x evil paring (or the sun/moon paring or whatever it's called). Give me the Dark Academia pair (Slytherclaw) and the Light Academia pair (Gryffinpuff).

I feel like my entire personality is based around the books I am reading, the movies I watch, the music I listen and youtube comment threads.
