Okay, but the Taboo wouldn’t count for parents and young children, right? I mean, toddlers are naturally grabby and it’s just their way of looking for comfort, and babies are babies, there’s no stopping them. How could they not hold onto their parent’s dæmons, especially if they’re larger animals? That’d probably be a safe place for them, something comforting. And besides don’t parents have to hold baby dæmons in order to carry their baby from room to room?
It always bugged me in The Logging Adventure book how Cassie freaks out when they all morph ants, and she’s having an anxiety attack on the floor and Rachel has to hold her to try to calm her down, and the whole time Cassie is thinking ‘oh, I can’t believe I’m making Rachel hug me! Rachel hates to give hugs, she must be so uncomfortable!’
Like, Cassie, babe, sugarcheeks. What Rachel are you talking about?
The Rachel who nearly got herself stuck in a cat morph because a girl that she wasn’t even that good of friends with anymore was upset? The Rachel who was like, ‘This girl needs cuddles! I don’t care what it costs!’? That Rachel?
The Rachel who crouched in a construction site with both arms wrapped around her friends to shield and protect them from harm, but also to comfort them? That Rachel?
The Rachel who in the future stands in the hallway of a busy hospital and hugs her cousin who has just manipulated her into hunting down their ally-turned-enemy because she feels bad for him that he has to do things like that? That Rachel?
Cassie. Sweetie. Toodlebug. I know you were hopped up on ant pheromones, but if you slander Rachel like that again I am going to have to revoke your empath license. Rachel will hug anyone who needs it and she will never feel bad about it.

Craft stores supply many natural, sea-related items for you to use. However, if you live within a few hundred miles of the coastline, an annual “pilgrimage” to the shorelines to collect.
seagull feathers
sea shells
driftwood
dried seaweed
sea glass
loose sand
sandstone
pressed palm leaves
dried coconut
The difference between a sea themed table and a altar are the intentions and the energy you put into it. To make your altar start by pouring ocean water lightly over your altar to “refresh” the ocean energy, burn coconut incense to raise tropical vibrations, play “Sounds of the Ocean” soundtracks and meditate near your altar.
When using items for a spell try using sand in the color that matches your intention. If your a water sign, add your zodiac sign to a candle. Add a mermaid or a water goddess to it. Move the items around and or change them out as needed, do not let it get stagnant, it needs to flow just like the ocean and streams.
New girl in my Sunday school class: Are you a girl?
Me: No, but people used to think I was a girl.
Girl: Oh. Is that why the other teacher called you (deadname)?
Me: Yes, that’s my old name I used before I told people I’m not a girl. But I haven’t used my new name forever so sometimes (other teacher) forgets.
Girl: Okay. I’ll remember to use your new name! *bounces over to the toy cars*
…….
Me: I want you to start calling me Mx instead of Miss. Okay?
Little boy: Okay. *violently stabs crayon into paper* Mx Roman, I broked the crayon.
Me: That’s probably because you stabbed the paper with it, buddy.
…….
3 y/o : Are you a boy or a girl?
Me: Sometimes I’m a boy. Sometimes I’m not a boy or a girl.
3 y/o: *proudly puffs out chest* I’m a girl all the time.
Me: Good for you, kiddo.
3 y/o: I know.

Silly His Dark Materials headcanon: daemons’ fur/feathers/skin does actually go through periodic changes. Any part of their body that comes off - fur, claws, antlers, teeth, molted feathers, molted skin for reptile daemons, exoskeletons for some invertebrates - disappears after like a day, but many species with fur do blow their coats in the spring. Fortunately daemons can’t trigger people’s allergies but sometimes there’s just fur everywhere.
Hester’s real winter coat didn’t start coming in until after she’d been in the north for a couple years. She sort of wishes it didn’t because Lee does the “make a second rabbit out of all the fur that comes off when brushing” joke Every. God. Damn. Year. and still thinks he’s absolutely hilarious.
Unsettled daemons don’t do this, and can give themselves seasonal coats at any time of year. If Hester thought she was a jackrabbit for years, there is someone out there, probably numerous people, whose “ermine” daemon settled in winter and they were very surprised to discover that an ermine and a stoat are the exact same animal.
Lions represent acts of service and touch. Male lions, being not as adept at hunting in open plains, provide protection while the females provide the main source of food. Lion prides also spend a great deal of their time affirming their bonds by grooming one another, to both give and recieve comfort. Lions are both practical and deeply affectionate with the people they care about, and they want to show them, and make their lives easier.
Bowerbirds represent gift-giving and words of affirmation. Males build elaborate, beautiful bowers to attract females, and then perform for them individually. Bowerbirds love to recieve tangible evidence of romantic affection, and they love to be told their partner's feelings.
Dogs crave quality time and touch; they show their love by staying by your side, and they want to show you just how much they care with kisses and hugs and head rubs. Platonic, romantic, it doesn't matter; you'll know they care by how they act.
Mute swans represent quality time and words of affirmation. They dance and call to one another to communicate their desire to mate, and they will spend a lifetime following their partners around. Mute swans are the cliché of romantic love, but it makes sense why; their devotion is clear by how they live together, work together, and find happiness together.
Túngura frogs show their love through words of affirmation and acts of service. They not only choose their partners through being serenaded, but males and females will work together to build a bubble nest for their offspring to keep them safe. Túngura frogs like to talk about their emotions, but they also like to work to provide something useful for the people they love.
Donkeys show their love through quality time and acts of service. Donkeys are incredibly social animals, and they want to spend their time with the people they love. They can also be incredibly protective, and will fearlessly defend their herd from threats. These animals show their love actively, fiercely, and constantly.
Sea otters show their love through touch, and quality time. Sea otters hold hands with other otters to keep themselves from floating away from each other; they like having an anchor, if you will. These curious animals aren't always sociable, but when they're done foraging and hunting, they like to spend time in large groups resting and relaxing together.
when is an appropriate time for one to pray to the Greek gods? What if someone wants to pray to Them daily? How should one go about becoming serious about their worship?
Generally speaking, I think it’s fine to pray at any time you feel called to, and it’s absolutely fine to pray every day.
Historically it was more common to make offerings to chthonic gods (gods of the dead or of the earth, such as Hades and Persephone among others) at night, so that might be something you find meaning in.
As for becoming serious, I’d suggest that practice is the best guide. The specifics of that practice would vary depending on different factors–for example, if you have a reconstructionist focus you would want to stick as closely as possible to the historical model, although certainly that isn’t the one and only way to honor the gods.
For me what helped was just establishing a regular practice and sticking with it..That might include a regular daily prayer or prayers, offerings made on a monthly basis (a number of the gods have specific days devoted to them, such as Artemis on the 6th or Poseidon on the 8th), a schedule of festivals/rituals you observe over the year (alone or with a group), meditation and visualization work, or whatever brings you closer to the gods. Find something that has meaning for you and keep at it, even when you may not be feeling the inspiration so strongly!
Pantalaimon: Lyra, help Will fight the angry lad with the knife!!!
Will: …Pan, YOU CAN SHAPESHIFT. Turn into something OTHER than a red panda! Turn into a wolverine again! Maul him!!! HELP ME!!!
Pantalaimon: Again, dæmon. You can’t maul humans when you’re a dæmon.
Pantalaimon: I mean, all you can do is give them a very meaningful look.
