wore my coyote tail to school the other day and on my way out of class my friend was telling me about how her younger cousin, who i would guess is probably like 9 or 10, has a bunch of tails like mine, likes to sit in cat trees, and "wants to be a cat so bad". and in my brain i was just like "shit man, idk how to tell you this but i think your cousin is actually just a cat."
Nonhumans are here, even if you do not see us. We always will be. We are often hard to spot, but can be found doing all the things a human might.
A cat went to work at an event stall for a mental health service.
A massive sea serpent wanted to go to science class because it enjoyed it more than the rest of those living in its shared form.
The void sat down, huddled up in a blanket, to watch a tv show with its partners. It had to stop watching after a bit, but enjoyed spending time with those close to it anyway.
A wolf went to a psychologist appointment and gratefully drank the hot chocolate they were offered in the waiting room.
A shapeshifting being of pure darkness spoke publicly about trans rights in front of politicians and then went to the pride festival he helped fight to keep alive.
A dragon went to school so the others sharing his human body could have a break.
A manifestation of the fear of madness itself sat in the food court at the mall eating mochi and drinking tea while waiting for its friends to get back from shopping.
A witch drew a picture of his cardinal bird and shared the work he was so proud of with his friends.
A cockatoo borrowed the next book in his favourite series from the school library and almost couldn't wait the whole day to go home and read it.
An alien went camping and watched the birds outside and the way the wind made waves and patterns on the water.
A fallen angel went shopping for sunglasses to shield his eyes from how bright the sun was.
A harpy went shopping for new plants to look after. He named a few because he loved them so much, and sent pictures to all of his friends.
An anthropomorphic hedgehog traded Pokemon cards with his peers at school. He was happy with his collection.
You may not see us, and you may feel alone, but you are not. We are just hidden. We are in more places than you'd think, and in the places you'd least expect. We are complex, we are valued, and we are here.
I forgot to make a post about it sooner lol, but I ended up printing out a bunch of those theta delta stickers I designed a while back! I didn't sell them or anything, just for personal use and to give out to other therians I encountered irl, but I had a ton of fun sticking them up around Washington over the course of a few months so enjoy a quick photo dump :3
If anyone encounters any of these (or others, there's some i didn't include here) out in the real world don't be afraid to shoot me a message and let me know! id absolutely love to see how they're holding up <3 Therian pride 4ever β
Also if anyone is curious i used StickerApp to get them printed and would highly recommend to anyone interested in making stickers of their own, they have awesome service and great quality for the price!
one day very soon therianthropy/nonhuman identities are gonna hit mainstream and i can tell you right now it is NOT gonna be pretty
Using my it/its pronouns irl is basically just a marriage proposal tbh
Not my usual content but whatever this is my blog and I can do whatever I want :P
Nimona (Nimona 2023) - Speciesfluid
I rlly don't think I need to explain this one lol. Moving on!
(Couldn't find a flag for this </3)
Robin (Robin Robin 2021) - BiSpecies
Refers to herself as a mouse throughout the whole movie and wears her feathers purposefully styled to resemble mouse ears, continues to happily wear said ears even after embracing her identity as a bird. She's a bird and a mouse without a doubt.
Luz Noceda (The Owl House 2020) - Otherhearted
I dont have much reasoning behind this tbh, I just feel in my soul that she's alterhuman in someway (projecting) and it seems fitting for her, probably bat hearted or smth lol
Standford Pines (Gravity Falls 2012) - Nonhuman
Are you seriously gonna try and tell me that this man traveled across the multiverse for years and still came back feeling completely human? Yeah right
Jinx (Arcane 2021) - Voidpunk
Also dont feel like this one needs a lot of explanation :P
Roz (The Wild Robot 2024) - Transspecies
"I feel fine" "You are defective. You are in the wrong place, and you have become the wrong thing." Damn okay we're not choosing to be subtle about this huh? Also our quadrobics queen <3
Enid Sinclair (Wednesday 2022) - Therian
Casually refers to herself as a cat despite (supposedly) being a wereWOLF, mannerisms and personality resemble a social feline more than a canine, especially compared to the other werewolves we see in the show. I know what you are Sinclair ποΈποΈ
Rafiki (Mufasa 2024) - Alterbeing/Species Non-Conforming
Is largely unbothered when others refer to him as a baboon, only corrects them when he's trying to make a point. I just feel like he'd be very chill about identity and have a sort of go with the flow attitude towards it.
Vee (The Owl House 2020) - BiAnthro
Girl is LITERALLY human and nonhuman simultaneously. Look at her. She is 1000% too cool for anyone else's binaries.
Masha (The Owl House 2020) - Therian/Otherkin
I. just. KNOW. this bitch runs a therian tumblr blog. Idk how but I do. Def joined the community through tiktok before eventually making the switch to tumblr and was able to fully grow into themselves and their identity. Teaches Vee how to do quadrobics.
Lest (Arcane 2021) - Transspecies
Transfem catgirls go prrrrrrrr
Hunter (The Owl House 2020) - Furry
Dude loves wolves, literally makes his own wolf shirt so he can wear it around. Im sorry but it does not get anymore furry coded than that. Also I just think the mental image of him running around in a fursuit is hilarious and I love it sm
RADQUEERS AND PROSHIPPERS FUCK OFF THIS POST IS NOT FOR YOU. IF I SEE YALL INTERACTING IM INFECTING YOU WITH RABIES ON SIGHT
If i tried to authentically explain 75% of the way i experience nonhumanity to the majority of ""mainstream"" online therian community members, they'd probably either label me a clinical lycanthrope or a troll. It's so frustrating I wish more of them would realize how much their mob mentality destroys our culture :|
Anyone else feel like an outcast in the alterhuman community?
Most of the therians/alterhumans/nonhumans I see online are minors; Iβm 20 years old.
Most of them can do quadrobics; I canβt run on all fours for five minutes without everything hurting, and if I did a jump, Iβd probably break my wrists
A lot of them seem to enjoy the company of humans; Iβve never trusted or liked humans
Most of the community talks about being βsillyβ or βcuteβ when experiencing a mental shift; I have violent, animal instincts and avoid others when I feel a mental shift coming on
I donβt know. I just feel like a lot of us have becomeβ¦ tame. And Iβm not. I feel like we as a community donβt talk about the βdarkerβ side of not being human. The violent prey drive. The instinctive fear of humans that wild animals have.
To clarify, I mean no hate towards those who genuinely enjoy not being human. I just feel like even in a community of outcasts, Iβm an outcast.
Itβs just frustrating. In a place meant for those who arenβt human, Iβm still too different to fit in. I just want to have a place to belong, you know?
(This is an edit) So, it seems Iβm definitely not the only one. If anyone wants to talk about their less normalized instincts, shifts, etc., feel free to in the comments. If I find any hate or harassment in my comments, that personβs hateful comment will be removed and theyβll be blocked. My blog is a safe space
Bring unapologetically myself is a protest itself. I am already baring my teeth and snarling at the world, so why not join me in the act? As an animal I refuse to be put down. I refuse to be controlled.
As everything in the US goes to shit, please stay alive. Queer people, alterhumans, nonhumans, everyone who's different. You can hide but please have hope for the future.
Massive gripe ive been having with primarily the therian community lately, I really dont feel like we focus enough on animal rights causes considering how "connected" we're supposed to be to nonhumans.
Like I see it around for sure, but when I do it usually isn't more than just "hunting for sport is badπ" or "dont beat your dog π" and that's it. The main focus of the community is still very much on biologically human individuals rather than on bio nonhumans, who are very literally treated like garbage in society and it's frustrating because i feel like we should be right there on the front lines when it comes to animal liberation.
Im not saying all of us need to be members of ALF or anything, im not even vegan and have no plans to be, but as of rn the community's overall acknowledgment and support of animal rights causes is pretty pathetic. Hell, I still hear therians confidently and proudly infantilize adult/highly intelligent nonhuman species ("animals have the intelligence of human toddlers") and spread blatant misinformation about them. Shit just annoys me
