The Shitty Horoscopes anthology is now funding on Kickstarter!
shitty horoscopes book vi: after the fall.
a volume that took way too long about life after february, and life after (or during) the blues.

Not all venom fans are monster fuckers đ some of us are just aroace disasters who like the idea of a platonic soulmate who likes to murder annoying people for you, is that so bad?
Despite their claim, Narrator might have a meltdown if someone touches them. Heâs fine though.
Helping Theirry @vellichorom get ready for the Narratorverse Met Gala!
The Parable Gala? đ
Heâs gonna be the prettiest girl at the party!
Plus an extra silly doodle
They donât like how youâre suddenly their height. But they resist the urge to increase their own size in response :)
I wish to hug your Narrator and spin because I am so full of love for him! He and I are the same height!!
@voidofstarryink
I havenât posted my drawings before, but Iâve been obsessed with the Stanley Parable for ages now so I figured I might as well share some :)
ATTENTION COSPLAYERS:
I would like to make the paint brand âAngelusâ known. It is a special paint that is for leather, faux leather, rubber, and similar surfaces.
This is literally the best paint you can buy if you love a pair of shoes, but they arenât in the right color for your character.
This stuff coats VERY well AND the coats of paint bend with your shoes. This means no cracking!!
In the photos above I took black rain boots and painted them with Angelus Turquoise. As you can see, they donât look black any more! Itâs so good!
I managed to paint two boots with a little one ounce bottle of the paint, and I still have a third of the bottle left over!
The paint dries very fast, so you can put layer on top of layer on top of layer without it streaking.
You can get the paint on Amazon and it comes in every color!
I just really wanted to make this known!! :D This stuff is amazing!
HmâŚI donât think heâs supposed to see that.
Well this is a morbid subject but HEY itâs almost Halloween baby!! I was super curious about what toxins actually do on a molecular level after reading about cone snails. Obviously toxins can kill you, but how?? I wanted to know the grisly details. This is not an exhaustive list, just some types of poison, venom, and other toxic substances I was curious about, so letâs get to it.
Where is it found? Atropa belladonna grows in Europe, North Africa and Western Asia.
How it works: slows your heart waaaaaay down. deadly nightshade contains tropane alkaloids atropine, hyoscine (scopolamine), and hyoscyamine which disrupt the nervous systemâs ability to regulate activities such as heart rate, breathing and sweating. It can cause narcosis, paralysis and heart failure as a result. Yikes. But an antidote exists that can reverse these affects if administered in time.
Toxicity: the entire plant is toxic, with roots having the highest toxicity but berries posing the greatest threat to humans because of their appearance. 10-20 berries can kill an adult, and 2-4 can kill a child. Symptoms of mild poisoning include dilated pupils, sensitivity to light, loss of balance, confusion, hallucinations (wild) and convulsions. Doesnât sound like a good time.
Do not eat the shiny attractive berries!!! (cows and rabbits and other animals can eat it but humans, dogs and catsâŚNOT SO MUCH)
Totally fun and not morbid fact: during the Renaissance, belladonna was used by women in small quantities to dilate pupils and give a seductive appearance, and this is how it gets its name belladonna, or beautiful woman. Atropa comes from the Greek Fate Atropos who cuts the threads of mortal lives with her shears. Snip snip!
Where is it found? Conium maculatum grows naturally in Europe and North Africa, and has spread to North and South America, Australia and Western Asia.
How it works: stops your breathing. the flowers contain an alkaloid called coniine, which directly affects the nervous system and causes paralysis of respiratory muscles, leading to death from oxygen deprivation. Hemlock poisoning is treated by artificial ventilation for 48-72 hours until the effects wear off.
Toxicity: about 100 milligrams of coniine is fatal to an adult. Thatâs about 6-8 hemlock leaves, or a smaller dose of the seeds or root. Animals can also be poisoned and killed by hemlock, but luckily dangerous substances cannot be passed into the human food chain from milk or fowl.
Basically youâre only gonna get poisoned by this if someone puts it in your tea, because I assume youâre not gonna just go around just likeâŚchomping on pretty flowers. Right? Right?? ok good.
Where is it found? arsenic is a metalloid that occurs often with sulfurs and metals. It can be present in volcanic ash and groundwater, and as a result can be found in low (acceptable) levels in plants and seafood. Good news: it is rare to find arsenic occurring at dangerous levels in nature.
How it works: in high levels, arsenic disrupts ATP production and causes organ failure due to necrotic cell death. This process can last between 2 hours to multiple days. It can also be fatal in lower doses administered over a period of time, and as such, was a popular murder weapon when it was readily available during the 1800s in England. Symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea donât immediately alert someone that there has been an attempted murder unless maybe youâre Sherlock Holmes.
Toxicity: google probably thinks Iâm a murderer and wonât tell me just how much arsenic will kill a person. COME ON, google!!! itâs for SCIENCE!
Arsenic is no longer readily available for people to just get in large quantities, so thatâs a RELIEF.
Where is it found? cyanide is a chemical compound produced by certain algae, bacteria and fungi. It is also found in plants such as peaches, apples, apricots and bitter almonds. A type of bamboo that grows in Madagascar is so rich in cyanide that it would kill humans, but not the golden bamboo lemur for whom this bamboo is a primary source of food!!! You go girl, eat that cyanide bamboo.
How it works: in non-bamboo-lemurs, cyanide disrupts ATP production, affects the central nervous system and heart, and causes histotoxic hypoxia: the inability of cells to take up oxygen from the bloodstream. Antidotes can work if administered in time for lower doses of cyanide.
Toxicity: 200 milligrams of solid cyanide or a cyanide solution, or exposure to airborne cyanide of 270 parts per million is sufficient to cause death within minutes. Um, YIKES. Really, cyanide was already scary enough as a solid before nature went and made it into a gas that kills upon inhalation. DEEPLY uncool.
Murder mystery writers: slip belladona or arsenic into your literary victimâs tea. Belladonna is sweet, arsenic is tasteless, but cyanide has an acrid and bitter taste.
Fun (well, not fun) fact: if you eat 200 apple seeds (about 40 apple cores) you will receive a fatal dose of cyanide. So like, donât do that. An apple a day keeps the doctor away and is completely safe, but 40 apples apple cores a day WILL KILL YOU
Where is it found? Vampire bats are found in the Americas.
How it works: a toxic substance called Draculin (Iâm serious) in the saliva of vampire bats acts as an anticoagulant by inhibiting an enzyme involved in the coagulation pathway.
Toxicity: vampire bats are indeed venomous and toxic, but they are not at all lethal. It just sorta sucks if youâre being bitten by a vampire bat, but youâll live. Unless that bat has rabies. Vampire bat saliva also contains an analgesic, meaning the bites are almost completely painless. SO THATâS SOMETHING
âhello do you have a moment to hear about cell death?â
Where is it found? Many species of cobra are found throughout Africa, Southwest and Southeast Asia.
How it works: most cobra venom includes neurotoxins that cause paralysis as well as cytotoxins that cause necrosis and blood coagulation. blood coagulation can happen in minutes.
Toxicity: many types of cobra venom are treatable, but may leave disfigurement from necrosis. If this isnât scary enough for you, just know that spitting cobras can reach 2.7 m (8.9 ft) in length and like to aim for the eyes.
But youâd still rather be bitten by a cobra than THIS deadly mofo:
Where is it found? the inland taipan is the most venomous snake in the world and lives, YOU GUESSED IT, in Australia, ie the place where everything is designed to kill you. Evolution decided it can reach 1.8 meters (5.9 feet) with a maximum length of 2.5 meters (8.2 feet), which I think everyone can agree is a dick move on evolutionâs part. Take it back, TAKE IT BACK!!!!!
How it works: the venom contains neurotoxins, hemotoxins, and myotoxins AND an enzyme to increase absorption of the venom. Basically it causes paralysis, blood coagulation and muscle damage, because one of these things wasnât enough apparently. Antivenoms against Australian venomous snakes exist but are least effective against the venom of the inland taipan.
Toxicity: the inland taipanâs venom has a murine LD50 value of 0.025m/kg. This means there is a 50% chance that .025 milligrams per kilogram of weight will cause death. Itâs bite contains enough venom to kill at least 100 adult humans. But GOOD NEWS! the inland taipan lives in such remote places that it rarely comes in contact with people. Other slightly less venomous snakes are therefore responsible for more deaths. âŚ.So thatâsâŚstill terrifying. just donât go into the woods in Australia FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
Whatâs deadlier than the deadliest snake in the world, you ask?
Where is it found? tetrodotoxin is found in several animals such as pufferfish, moon snails and the small but deadly Australian blue ringed octopus (DAMMIT Australia)
How it works: blocks sodium channels. This prevents normal transmission of signals between the body and brain, causing loss of sensation, paralysis and inability to breathe. Fun!!! Donât pick up the frickin evil little octopus
Toxicity: more powerful than cyanide, thatâs for sure, about a thousand times more powerful in fact. the oral median lethal dose (LD50) for mice as 334 micrograms per kilogram. Fatal pufferfish poisoning result in death in about 17 minutes. The blue-ringed octopus, however, carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans within just a few minutes. There is no anti-venom.
Whatâs worse than that, you ask? Ah, you shouldnât have asked.
Where is it found? Cone snails are found in the Indo-Pacific, the Cape of South Africa, the Mediterranean, and even southern California. Smaller species are not that dangerous. Larger species, howeverâŚ
How it works: paralysis within minutes. cone snails have multiple harpoons to administer venom to prey (or unsuspecting humans). the harpoons deliver a venom that has HUNDREDS of different types of toxins, each targeting different nerve channels or receptors. Some cone snail venom even includes pain-reducing toxins. These pain reducing toxins can be 100 to 1,000 times more powerful than morphine. How THOUGHTFUL.
Toxicity: vastly more potent than tetrodotoxin. the oral median lethal dose (LD50) for mice is is 10 to 100 micrograms/kilogram. So like, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT LOL
Where is it found? Ricin is obtained from the beans of the castor oil plant.
How it works: inhibits protein production and results in organ failure, respiratory failure and circulatory shock.
Toxicity: The median lethal dose (LD50) of ricin is around 22 micrograms per kilogram of body weight. If that sounds bad just wait till you hear about poison dart frogs đ
Where is it found? Nowhere in nature. VX is synthetic. It is an oily amber colored liquid in its natural form, was first developed as a pesticide and later for chemical warfare. It is considered a weapon of mass destruction and is banned under the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993.
How it works: causes stimulation and fatigue of muscarinic and nicotinic ACh receptors, resulting in violent contractions followed by paralysis and death by asphyxiation.
Toxicity: 7 micrograms/kilogram. this is one of the most toxic synthetic substances on earth. Humans have got nothing on mother nature thoughâŚ
(This guy is called phyllobates TERRIBILIS. but is his cute little face terrible? noooo.)
Where is it found? in certain types of beetles, birds and poison dart frogs found in Colombia.
How it works: similar to conotoxin, batrachotoxin interrupts sodium channels. The resulting migration of Na+ ions causes heart failure and paralysis.
Toxicity: The LD50 is around 2 micrograms per kilogram, meaning that an amount the size of two grains of table salt will kill you, and that this is even worse than a cone snail, Ricin, or VX. Batrachotoxin is one of the deadliest alkaloids known. No antidote exists.
Fun frog fact: this was the poison commonly used by the Embera-Wounaan for poison darts, and thatâs where poison dart frogs get their name! HowâŚcute.
Where is it found? made by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum and related species.
How it works: causes Botulism, which if untreated can result in paralysis and respiratory failure by preventing the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Botulinum is used in very very very VEEEEEEERY small amounts in Botox, in case you ever needed reasons NOT to do Botox lol.
Toxicity: the lethal dose of 1.3â2.1 nanograms per kilogram in humans. of any toxin natural or synthetic, this is the deadliest known. However!! Actual good news this time: treatments involving antitoxin therapy and intubation are very successful and mortality from Botulism is extremely low. Yay!Â
More good news: toxins have been instrumental in medicinal breakthroughs throughout history and continue to be vital to modern medicine. A drug for diabetes was recently synthesized from Gila monster venom: it increases the production of insulin when blood sugar levels are high. A painkiller has been developed for chronic pain patients that is derived from a component of the venom of our friend, you guessed it, the cone snail! These are just two examples of toxins being used in medicine, and a lot of research is still being done because face it: we still donât know a lot about how our bodies work. Paralyzing agents are extremely important to our understanding of the body and the development of non-opiate non-addictive painkillers because of how they disrupt signals between nerves and the brain.
Long story short: donât eat nightshade and stay OFF AUSTRALIAN BEACHES and you should be just fine.Â
Oh and your tea is getting cold ;)
background
tear gas is not a gas, itâs a kind of powder that clings to ur skin and clothing. it affects ur eyes and ur respiratory system. tear gas cans have different levels of toxicity, and the ones used against civilians are the lowest, but u should never trust a cop with ur safety
countries might have different policies about it, but common (rarely followed) protocols include:Â
tear gas canister must be shot at the air, not directly at civilians
police must announce they will gas the place before shooting a can
lethality
people with respiratory problems should be thoroughly careful as death may ocur in a matter of hours exposed to it
others with no problems might experience fainting
have in mind the long lasting effects of this chemical weapon have not been registered yet
protection
thick face mask (the type made from a paper-like material) for a short period of exposure or low toxicity
proper gas masks with mixed filter against organic vapours and acid gases + particles
goggles (like ski masks or to go swimming)
if the gas mask doesnât cover your entire face/doesnât have a proper grip, u need to wear a bandana or a piece of clothing under it
do NOT use vinegar
do NOT wear makeup, creams or sunscreen as it worsens the effect on ur eyes
treatment & prevention
cheap: mixture of 90% water + 10% baking soda, apply on the nose, rinse ur mouth with it, pour it on the eyes (closed) and wait a little while before blinking repeatedly
effective & cheap: boil a pot of water with laurel leaves (the kind u use to cook) until water turns brown. apply on nose, rinse mouth, pour on closed eyes and blink repeatedly. more effective as preventive measure (soak a piece of clothing and hold it against ur mouth/nose or tie it around ur head)
other: maalox antiacid
u can bite on a lemon for the effects to go away, but it would only last once ur away from the gas
do NOT run or get agitated, walk fast and watch where ur going. be calm, be mindful of others suffering the effects of the gas around u. help each other. contain each other
sneeze, cough, spit and blink as much as necessary until uâve recovered
aftercare
tear gas clings to ur skin and ur clothes, so try to get the least amount of skin exposed. do NOT touch ur face (eyes, mouth, nose) with ur hands or ur clothes after uâve been exposed, as the particles of the chemical will once again hurt u
u can wash ur clothes with baking soda, but the chemical might still remain (so dont take that forever 21 dress to a protest)
do NOT shower with hot water, as it re-activates the chemical. u dont have to use ice cold water but regulate the temperature carefully
neutralization
baking soda + water mixture in a big (6lt) reusable water bottle (some people add shampoo). u must wear heavy face protection and wielding gloves to manipulate the tear gas canister, grabbing it quickly from the floor and then cover the bottle as fast as u can once u put the can inside. it takes a few minutes to put off.
important: keep the canister, dont throw it away. when uâve gotten to safety take a picture of the labels and information on the can, as it details the toxicity and precautions. make sure to check the protocols in ur country and report any misconduct.
not recommended: if u do not have the proper equipment to handle a tear gas canister, throw or kick the can against the police who shot it. watch them suffer. absolutely not recommended i do not support this u should never :-)
background
pepper spray isnt a gas either, the particles get under ur skin and stay there for a very long period of time. it obstructs ur respiratory system and blinds u for hours. if u see a cop walking around with a long canister in their hand, do please please get away and warn others.
lethality
death has been registered on asthmatic people
no long lasting effects as far as i know
protection
thereâs nothing that can really prevent the effects of a pepper spray attack. it will cling to whatever u have on though, so the more covered u are the less particles will reach ur skin.
milk: magnesium milk is more recommended (u can buy it in a drugstore) but regular milk might work as well. it can lower the effects of pepper spray but it wont stop it. it relieves the effects after uâve been attacked, but depending on how exposed u were. it leaves white stains on the skin and clothes.
aftercare
tear gas will worsen the effects, so if ur attacked with pepper spray u must get away immediately
if u are hit directly, in close proximity, u need to be taken to a hospital asap
it will burn ur skin and ur throat, u will feel hell on ur skin, but do not cry. remain calm. u need to know this will be over in a few hours and u will have no long lasting effects
the hospital may release u once uâve recovered sight, but ur skin (especially ur hands, as u use and move them the most) will still hurt from time to time. sink the affected areas in a mixture of water and dish soap repeatedly and fast for 10-15 seconds
do NOT put any creams or lotions on
throw away the clothes and belongings contaminated with it, but be careful and mindful of the animals and homeless people who search for food in the trash, they dont deserve to suffer the effects of this weapon just because u are lousy
lethality
u will not die of a pellet shot wound, but if it lands on ur eyes u will be permanently blinded as the eye injury is irreversible
at the hospital they might have to give u vaccines
sometimes doctors are unable to remove the bullets and, depending on what itâs made of, u might suffer the effects of contamination
have in mind they can land anywhere, even ur face, and the removal is painful and excruciating
if ur shot in a non threatening part of ur body it will hurt like hELL, but u can still walk around just fine
protection
wearing jeans or windbreaker fabric will lower the speed of the shot, though it will still injure ur skin
anything from tin pieces to wood will stop the bullets. u can make a shield out of stop signs or cable satellites antennas
if u have a shield with u, it is ur responsability to stand in the front and protects other
for the eyes: safety glasses/goggles with ANSI z87.1 or z87+ standard are the easiest and cheapest to get, but military standard MIL-PRF-31013 is more effective. be sure to check the item actually qualifies legally for the standard
water tank: throwing rocks at it only works if the door is open and u can aim at the cops inside. be careful since they might mix water with other chemicals (like caustic soda, which produces burns in the skin and vomit) and are more likely to use disposed water. depending on the type of tank it might actually hit u so hard u fly out of ur shoes, so be careful
laser pointer: u can use them to block copsâ vision, it will save lives
arrest: if u are being arrested and u are alone, or all the people u are with are being taken with u, yell ur full name so the people watching (probably recording) can have proof that u have been detained and ur family and friends can find out
recordings: dont post ur recordings on social media, as it can lead to the arrest of the people in it (or at least blur/cover their faces). it is important to have footage of the events to help the victims injured or abused by cops though
To all my non-Jewish fanfic writers who want to write about Hanukkah: hi!! Thank you for taking an interest in our culture and traditions and for wanting to be inclusive. We really appreciate it! I just want to mention a few things to keep in mind while youâre doing this.
1. HANUKKAH IS NOT JUST âJEWISH CHRISTMASâ. This is the big one. Yes, the two holidays happen to be around the same time, and the Christian/capitalist society that we live in decided to make Hanukkah a big deal to sell more decorations or something. But it is in fact itâs own thing, and is a fairly minor holiday. Our big, most important holidays are in the fall! Which brings me to,
2. The original story of Hanukkah is about the Maccabees, a group of Jews who resisted the forced assimilation into an oppressive society that said âconvert or die.â So in the spirit of that, I BEG you. Do not write a fic about a poor clueless Jewish person being shown the magic of Christmas and thinking itâs so much better, or any sort of trying to save/convert us bs. Thatâs just antisemitism, baby. We are proud of our unique culture and heritage that has lasted thousands of years of persecution.
3. Please be respectful when talking about Orthodox or Hasidic Jews. Orthodox women are not oppressed. (Many Jewish women born outside of Orthodoxy actually choose to convert into it, and to adopt the rules of modesty! They are called Baâal teshuva!) If youâre going to write a fic about a person who grew up Orthodox or otherwise very religious but chose to leave it, please be kind and donât make generalizations.
Mostly my point is to just be respectful. Jewish people are not a monolith. There are lots of different ethnic groups under the umbrella of the Jewish people with different traditions that are all incredibly beautiful and important. When writing about us, please do your research and talk to Jewish people about our experiences. If you donât know any, message me! Iâm always happy to talk about it.
Happy writing, and chag Hanukkah sameach!
I spent years just lurking on tumblr but recently Iâve been making TSP content so I guess this is a TSP account now?they/void/ink/star/eye(Always feel free to message me or send in an ask <3)
