andrew “stood with his back to the car, one arm propped on the hood and the other draped along the top of his door” (tkm, ch. 1) and i stg andrew bought a low expensive car simply for the Aesthetic and the Drama, you can’t convince me otherwise
He immediately picked up Andrew’s bluff about Neil being nothing and gambled on that theory when the others thought it was hate fuck.
Like, this kind of peeves me off but I see a lot of posts criticizing Aaron for not figuring that Andreil was more than a fling but if we’re going to be honest, there is NO way Aaron would’ve took the chance of calling Andrew out about Neil and breaking the deal if he thought it wasn’t that deep. He’s the type of character that chooses to play safe most times so him actually “talking” to Andrew about it is evidence that he himself thinks it’s not just nothing.
He was the first of the foxes aside from Andrew to actually figure out that Neil wasn’t probably just a pitiful kid who has troubles at home or sum, and was rather actually running away from something or someone. (Kevin doesn’t count because Jean basically told him about it)
What makes this noteworthy is that he’s probably the person Neil spends time the least with out of all the foxes, and he just managed to pick up his few pieces here and there, and when the birthday fiasco happened— it dawned to him and he went straight for the bull’s eye when the other foxes who spent more time with him were thinking it’s just Riko being antagonistic over Neil’s words or something along those lines.
A normal person would just assume the car wreck was an accident but Aaron didn’t. He knew immediately that Andrew was capable of planning it and had went on with the plan. He knows Andrew killed Tilda.
He was one of the two foxes that figured out there was more to Seth’s overdose. I’d argue two (the other being Andrew) because really, it was Andrew who came to that conclusion and told Neil and Allison about it. He have no purpose telling Aaron since it wouldn’t serve him anything so it’s more likely that Aaron figured it out on his own.
When Higgins called for the first time in years, Aaron was the only person that noticed Andrew wasn’t okay and he needed to leave the court at that moment. Normally, he doesn’t speak out for Andrew but at that moment, he immediately knew that something wasn’t right so he spoke in favor of his twin.
I really wanted to make a note of this because while Aaron Minyard is the “normal twin” between the two, I feel like the fandom doesn’t give him enough credit about his perceptiveness. Because for you to perceive most of the things above, you have to be really fucked up- it’s the same reason why Andrew knows Riko offed Seth and how Neil’s a runaway. It’s the same reason Neil also knew Andrew planned Tilda’s murder.
But Aaron is stretched into this bland and more boring version of Andrew who’d probably die first at a horror movie and I honestly couldn’t blame that because the books didn’t give him much but from the few that he was given, he is awfully perceptive but he’s passive compared to Andrew so most times it goes unnoticed.
If you ask me though, that doesn’t make him any less scarier than Andrew.
the binghampton bearcats are such assholes ??? i haven’t really seen this brought up before (i feel like they’re just overshadowed by the ravens lol), but they’re genuinely horrible people. neil was kidnapped and tortured after a riot broke out after their game at their court, and they then proceeded to face the foxes again and played horribly dirty just to try to red card one of the remaining foxes to put them at a further disadvantage ???? like what the actual fuck

ooo this is fun! my three random facts: i’m on the ace spec, i went to canadian nationals for biathlon, and i have an unhealthy obsession with tangled
@pluto-pepsi okay you know what, you're absolutely right, so i present this alternative
maximum chaos! the foxes have started to make extra icing just so that they can re-ice the edges after andrew takes his pieces, and he responds by taking all of the edges again. there's no winning.
also! when andrew eats cupcakes, he's that person that only eats the top and leaves the rest. the icing is too sweet for neil though, so it actually works out bc he'll eat the remains. the foxes want to scream at the blasphemous display of dessert eating
andrew cuts cake pieces from the middle, and it’s not even because he doesn’t like the edges - it’s just for everyone else’s reactions
hc that andrew’s wardrobe is entirely black... except for his socks, which are super colourful with ridiculous patterns
andrew joins neil for runs occasionally and denies that it’s bc he cares for him (kind of like how cats are “coincidentally” in the same room as you 90% of the time) and neil chooses the routes that he knows andrew will like best, the ones with viewpoints where it seems like you’re on top of the world bc heights are always a sure fire way to ensure andrew feels something, even if that something is fear
and neil feigns confusion when andrew accuses him of slowing his pace down for him, but while andrew thinks that neil’s trying to coddle him, neil just wants to spend more time doing something he loves with the man he loves and seeing the way andrew’s eyes dart around as if to soak up the world and ingrain it all in his memory when he thinks neil isn’t looking, more interest than he normally shows while playing exy
they talk and neil laughs and they get home sweaty and tired to take lazy hot showers together. neil has always and will always love running, but his favourite morning runs are those precious occasions when andrew joins him and it’s just the two of them against the world. andrew will never admit it, but those just might be his favourite mornings too
andreil having chocolate fondue with strawberries to satisfy neil’s love for fruit and andrew’s love for sweet things
i relate to seth gordon because i, too, laugh at the most inappropriate times

andrew definitely sets alarms for like 6:13 and 8:19 and it makes kevin So Mad
Since my recent post about demi Neil erasure has gotten much more traction than I thought it would, here's a small post about how it feels and felt to realize I was demi because of Neil and then subsequently see tons of people disregard it.
(this isn't a call out or discourse post, just some personal stuff I'm airing out to hopefully help this stop happening)
It was kind of a big moment for me when I realized that like, Neil's thoughts on romance/relationships throughout the books wasn't just someone finally getting it right but someone writing from an ace spec perspective.
So seeing people (and literal friends of mine) say, "Well he is basically gay because he's dating Andrew," or any similar phrase hurts. On top of all the internalized shit I still have to work through seeing that sets me back so far. There is literally no justification for it. He is demi, it is not just a widely accepted headcanon. It's a confirmed canon fact, and he and very importantly every demi and ace spec person in this fandom deserve to have it treated as such. It erases such an important part of his character and the plot of the books. It erases his emotional bond with Andrew.
We rarely get ace spec rep in novels, and to finally have a demi character and see it taken away by people in this fandom because it's 'just easier to call him gay' really fucking sucks.
TL;DR: Neil is demi, he isn't 'basically gay'. It isn't 'easier' to call him gay either. If you want to get into semantics it's one extra letter to type. Calling him anything but demi hurts demi fans more than you may realize, and I hope this helped at least one person understand that.
